Tequatl is difficult in the organizational skills required to beat it.
Tequatl is not difficult in the individual skill required to beat it.
[quote=2882216;EnemyCrusher.7324:Crafting isn’t required to get ascended weapons. You can obtain them via world bosses, champions, guild missions, or Fractals of the Mists, it’s just a very rare chance. I hope to see them available via WvW soon.[/quote]
Yes, crafting isn’t technically required, but good luck getting first the very low probability of an ascended weapon drop and then the low probability of the stats you want.
If you’re hoping for badges for Ascended weapons — forget about it.
Every time there is an update, they respawn but with the locations changed. Otherwise, they respawn, I believe at server reset (5pm pacific time).
This event is perfect in that most players are content being an autoattack spammer in a zerg. There’s no pressure to perform, and yet you do feel accomplishment in the end because, hey, you got loot so that means you contributed!
That’s why zerging will never die. As long as there is good content for those who do like difficult (on the individual level) content I think it’s fine.
Two things.
The first: at this point there is so much dust around now that they’d probably only sell for 1 or 2 copper. You may as well delete them.
The second: Notice that Anet introduced more bank slots right after introducing these materials; moreover, these new materials that required in unprecedented quantities for crafting. Coincidence? I think not.
First of all, they probably shouldn’t be drastically changing existing armor — a few small modifications to fix clipping issues or horn issues is ok, but this is a major change. How are people supposed to focus on cosmetics when item appearances just get suddenly changed? Fix the problems, and make new armor so that those who liked the old, and perhaps worked hard to get them, don’t get upset.
Second, that new helmet is a bit ridiculous. Why the roundness? Human heads are shaped that way, but not charr heads! The old helm looks like what a charr would forge. The new helm looks like the charr just took some human’s helm and put it on.
@Doon.2364: Well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see when new matchup starts before condeming (or supporting) the new system, won’t we ?
Nope. We already know that every server will meet every other server. That already tells us that a large percent of matchups will be enormous mismatches (on the order of 24/7 spawn camping).
Why do people keep saying that +150 to stats is “broken.”
Look at banners. Banner of Strength gives you +170 to Power and condition damage. Banner of defense gives you +170 Vitality and Toughness. Banner of Discipline dishes out more DPS than banner of strength does.
Are banners broken? Are people “too hard” to kill when they’re within banner range? I mean really now this is just getting silly.
The orb buff is not broken. Stop complaining about it.
Terrible argument. Your allies did not get those banner buffs for free. They cost skill slots.
wvw was always a casual gametype to anet so i guess they just wanted get rid of the hardcore players
This. They seem to be pushing hardcore players toward sPvP by destroying the aspects of WvW that these players enjoy about WvW.
What bothers me aswell is that they screw up the balance a little more, and make WvW a little less friendly to new players, every patch.
I just cannot begin to fathom what goes on in peoples mind that say “ow but WvW wasnt balanced anyway”
Yeah… so? That means we should just unbalance it even more? I guess in that case we shouldnt complain about Perplexity runes either, ey? Afterall, WvW isnt balanced nor suppose to be.
And then there is the WXP crap. Those who got a lot of time into WvW, especially early on, then got the reset and could pick up big statboosts. 2000 health, 200power, 200condition damage.
Nothing a new player will be able to pick up. And thats besides a gear advantage. And then we go ahead and make it so that if you get stomped you might be feeding points to the enemy server. So now people will also get kitten ed at new players
This. Even if the devs weren’t doing such a terrible job, players would naturally leave the game mode. New players are needed to keep it alive. But almost everything new that Anet has implemented has been very bad for new players. This is very very bad.
Didn’t the Video That Shall Not Be Named say that they barely test WvW changes, and with a only few testers? Yet more evidence right here.
I’m just going to do spvp. This is stupid. The whole stacks thing makes this game hilariously stupid now. You NEED a zerg to beat it or sit there on capture points, which no one even wants to do that either.
Make the outmanned buff negate the stacks by 33% per stack or something.
Anet seems downright clueless when it comes to pvp as a whole. What the hell are you doing to WvW?
This is exactly the intention of Anet.
Ask yourself: if they really wanted to break up groups, why did they place all the capture points right next to each other, instead of at the centaur camp, the skritt cave, and (the former) center island.
Ask yourself why this region looks just like sPvP.
You’ve played perfectly into Anet’s hands.
I actually dislike the design of the new area. It’s too busy — too much stuff. It’s too easy for people to run away, especially those with stealth.
I want GW1 hairstyles and faces.
An ascended backpiece, that you can choose the stats for, for completing WvW achievements!
While you’re at it why don’t you wish for a unicorn mount who can charge enemies and impale them with its horn for 20k damage?
This is WvW, we do not get nice things here.
As for this “softening the `why are we having leagues` issue”: that’s basically a bribe to shut people up. Not good.
Great post, though I disagree in that I think bloodlust by itself is a major problem.
Stats creep has happened in a very similar way, we’ve gotten many small stat increases over time, but added all together, it’s become quite significant: from ascended trinkets to Guard Leech and Applied Fortitude to Ascended weapons to Bloodlust to (in the future) Ascended Armor.
Sovereign, I don’t mean this as a personal attack because I believe you generally mean well, but I guess you just can’t comprehend why this buff is so bad for us competitive guilds. I don’t even understand what you’re trying to show from your video in your signature. If you stop it at 1:16 it shows you have the orb buff equal to the guy you killed, and regardless, one 1v1 does not have much of anything to do with why people don’t like it. You’re last video with the GvG alternative also shows that you don’t really understand the problem here, as well. (None of that is meant personal)
Many of us bought this game because we were attracted to the large scale combat and variety and competition that WvW brought to GW2. There is no pride in winning a fight when you have the orb buff, and it makes things much harder to take on larger numbers when you don’t. It’s not so much that though even, as someone else said, this buff is the straw that broke the camel’s back. By stopping playing (if that’s what it takes), it’d be in the hopes that Anet realizes they are taking WvW down a completely wrong path and start it back down the right one.
My video shows that
1. The server with more coverage wins even with or without the buff.
2. That you can still beat one another even if your opponent has the buff and you don’t, and while I was fighting that thief – we ganked him and eventually I also had the buff, but not at the beginning of the fight, which meant either way, he’s dead.
3. You can still do gvg’s at the usual spot with the usual guys, you just have to time it where both of your servers has the same buffs – and then duke it out (but this time has a limit, where the buffs add to one party or not, both parties now can choose whether to stop the fight or continue it. Or send players and allies to ensure that the buffs remain similar all throughout the borderlands (just a manner of working together with players)
4. And I always end up with a Think; win. because if only players thinked a little bit more, the solution to adapt to the new meta will appear. On your reply to my post. Thank you, I appreciate your position. And I do hope that the developers can gather ideas from what you guys wish to share.
Even if GVG’s 15v15 or 20v20 isn’t really a part of wvw proper, it’s still a fun way to play gw2, and should be incorporated into the system. That’s a free idea worth 100’s of thousands there.
Of course it’s still possible to win against the odds, but is it fun?
Winning with the buff doesn’t mean you’re the better player — your opponent was handicapped.
Losing without the buff doesn’t mean you’re the worse player — your opponent had an advantage.
It takes away from the feeling of competitiveness, which is not a good thing.
I still haven’t heard the reward system for this league. If it’s equivalent to the present rewards of basically a virtual gold medal pat on the head and percentage buff in resource gathering, etc. who really cares?? Most of the avid GvG guilds of present and past like Sacrx and Red Guard aren’t really gonna give a hoot if they finish first or last in these leagues as they are gonna be looking primarily for good battles.
Yeah… but good battles are rarer now with the bloodlust buff. Do you really feel good winning when you know you had an undeserved +150 stat advantage over your opponent(s)?
You don’t need roamers to keep the bloodlust points. You can circle your one zerg through them. All the zerg has to do is wipe any small groups in the way as they move from one circle to the next — the decay rate of the circles is slow enough to allow this.
Basically, if this mechanic really was introduced to break up zergs, it’s a total fail. Why were the NW and NE was not used?
once Leagues come around the Teq fight will likely be forgotten. It’s WvW guilds that have the numbers, unity, and organization in most cases. So of course a new shiny PvE content will only interest them for so long. Once they get the ascended weapon(s) they want it’s back to battle…
This may not be the case. When the leagues come around, a large percentage of match-ups will be HORRIBLE mismatches. That actually means many servers will have lots of WvW players looking for something else to do.
Introducing more bank tabs right after introducing Ascended materials that fill your inventory by the hundreds. Coincidence? I think not.
So, how many gems would you pay for an account upgrade that shuts off Bloodstone Dust collection? Coming to the store soon!!
Anet has already thought of this. That’s why they added more bank slots to the gem store.
Look at the HP bar in the upper right… that one is more accurate than the one in the upper middle. Why that one in the upper middle hides more hp vs the one in the upper right… idk…
Good attempt though, keep trying and I have faith that you’ll get him down
This. It’s the same with any boss with tons of health (for example dungeons).
The decay rate of these capture points are slow enough that you can cap them one after the other (leaving zero people behind to hold) and still hold 3 simultaneously.
A zerg simply needs to run a circle from one point to the next, killing everyone in their way and capping them. This new mechanic absolutely does not require a zerg to break up into pieces. They couldn’t even get that right!
Well as the title suggests I just want to see if my feelings are correct, but to me Necro’s condi just seems to high.. Please tell me what you think?
I feel especially sorry for the thieves that can’t do anything but as an ele I struggle in those 1v1’s.Just a question open for answers.
Thieves take necros easily in 1v1: just be patient and reset the fight when things begin to look bad. At some point, the necro will run out of life force. That’s when you go in for the kill.
Anet is trying to move everyone who is serious about competitive, balanced fights into their failed sPvP. That’s the reasoning behind this whole debacle.
Are you just starting WvW? It’s a bit late now… roamers at this point mostly have Applied Fortitude or Guard Leech (or both!). You’re way behind and at a very bad stat disadvantage.
I really fail to see how the WvW team simply cannot find a good way to eliminate zerg vs. zerg. Possibly like implementing some system to get two servers to work together against one if the one is leading by 50k+ points. Not give buffs based on number of people.
Also as an on-topic, the GMs here have stated many times that they really only look at live data for guides on how to change things. So basically we are the guinea pigs.
They basically don’t even try. It’s clear that putting capture points far from each other (NW, NE, and center of the map) would cause people to spread out more but instead they put them all together in one small area.
You have to ask why. And the reason is because this small area looks like sPvP. Anet is trying desperately to move people towards their failed sPvP and this is but one ploy.
Another is the bloodlust buff — they want to force the players who want competitive/more balanced play out of WvW and into sPvP.
It will simply be the nail in the coffin for WvW.
What server are you on? For some servers, it’s a bad match-up plus the bloodlust debacle causing people to not bother logging on.
It is actually quite cute that people start shouting about this AFTER the patch, when we have known this would be added for more or less a MONTH.
Wouldn’t it be more logical to leave BEFORE the patch in order to send the message that you don’t like the planned patch, rather then leaving after said patch is already in the game?
This guy doesn’t see what he doesn’t want to see. The WvW devs are exactly the same. And that’s a large part of the problem.
That plus the fact that all Anet wants to do is move players from WvW to the failed sPvP puts WvW’s future at great jeopardy.
get rid of the whole +stats thing. Make it +50% MF for each BL held.
You’re right OP: as I understand, from statements made before the game was released, the original intention was for boons to be saved for special circumstances. Sometime before launch this was changed to the current spammy form. Don’t know about conditions.
Yeah.. it’s a bit suspicious. I’m beginning to think that the LFG tool was simply not ready and they made up this beta excuse as a cover to give themselves more time. (And the let a couple testers into the “beta” so that they’re not outright lying.)
It’s just thinking out of the box. Not an exploit, but also not intended by Anet. It will likely get nerfed so hard that the FGS will be completely worthless in all circumstances.
It’s just a ploy by Anet to push people towards their failed sPvP. Look at the new area… it looks just like sPvP. If Anet had truly wanted to spread out the zerg, they would have put capture points in the NW and NE and the middle.
The stat buff: just horrible. Add it to Guard Leech and Applied Fortitude and we have level of never before seen ridiculousness.
GvG Team’s now can do something that requires skill, try holding the bloodlust with your 20 man team vs other 20 man teams with pug’s and roamers hitting you from all side’s, this will require more skill and tactics. Rather then zerg balling in 20 man group where you have no idea what the hell is going on.
I liked this best
.
Duels, sure this might mess up duel’s but all you ever see at duels are thief’s/mesmers/ele’s running there OP builds calling it skill, you see the odd other classes but 99% them 3 classes dueling. Dueling isn’t that great anymore its boring and doesn’t prove much.
Tbh, mostly you see perplexity … (insert noobs new toy) or terrornecros along with the biggest of all 1v1 facerolls: bunkerrangers and trololol engis. I wonder why you wouldnt put those in the list. ;-)
About the video: how dare you! This is Intigo! The bestestestest ele EU who got famous duelling superyoutubecelebrities like Osi cat and Sir Koroshi!
And also with his famous videos destroying at least 40 vizunahpugs that werent afk at all!
Seriously, how dare you…
OP is hilarious. “No QQ in this thread,” and yet you throw out words like this?
Together with the Anet brown-nosing, this has got to be a troll thread.
This new orb area is right in the center of the map… almost every tower is just a quick stroll away from the area. The bigger server can easily camp the area and move wherever needed should a tower be attacked.
If Anet really wanted zergs to spread out more, they would have put the capture points in disparate locations (tons of space in the NE and NW). But they didn’t. Probably because this makes a feel more like sPvP and Anet’s hoping this will push people towards sPvP.
As far as I can tell…. No, not without switching to the map and susing it out.
However I was only on for 10 minutes to investigate the patch and /ragequit when I found out my server had all 3 bloodlust bonuses, so maybe there’s a way to tell.
I believe all capture points can be white when the buff is still active, so I’m not sure any amount of investigation can determine where your buff is coming from.
If indeed you can’t tell: Totally Lame!
As stated in the Video That Shall Not Be Named, they don’t even test WvW updates with more than a few people, so it’s not surprising at all that we’re having these kinds of problem.
For those who rail against GvG — it seems most GvG guilds are very big contributors to PPT WvW. If these guilds quit, or play less, your server will be hurt. Oh and getting rid of GvG does not mean those players will now contribute to PPT — it’s just as likely they will not log in at all.
The great thing about WvW is the “play how you want” aspect of it — zerging, sieging, small man roaming, dueling, GvG. A lot of players do many of these activities. If you got rid of all but PPT, many would probably get bored and leave.
Is there a way to tell where (which BL) your or your opponents’ buffs are coming from?
Or who owns the buff in your BL?
I bought a molten pick for my main and probably would have bought the new one with for one of my alts except that I don’t play my alts anymore because they’re being left behind in the stat progression race (Ascended gear, Guard Leech and Applied Fortitude for WvW).
And before anyone says WvW isn’t meant to be balanced: Balanced match-ups are more fun than unbalanced ones.
Devs have already claimed there never will be balance in WvW.
What about this: Match-ups that are closer to being balanced are far more fun that those farther from being balanced.
Just because it’s unbalanced doesn’t mean it’s ok to make it even more unbalanced.
Anet loves their DPS checks.
Skill lag is Anet’s servers. You can’t do anything about it.
Low FPS is your computer. Lowering your settings will help.
Yeah it’s not like they aren’t giving people incentives to get back into wvw starting in a few weeks..
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/welcome-to-world-vs-world-season-1/
You must be joking. That is actually disincentive to WvW in a few weeks.
If you made it buff supply instead of stats it would be very worthwhile.
7% more supply per area held on you Dolyaks and in your supply camps
Therefore, holding that buff will make the buff very tactical. Holding all 3 would allow you to fortify your Garrison or SM 21% faster.
Too strong for an already winning server.
What about: Server with lowest score gets what you said. Server in 2nd gets similar, but not as good. Winning server gets +50% MF.
I don’t think they will fix it and here’s why:
They don’t really care.
