A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

I really love the feathered set (lvl 75 crafted) ._. i trasmuted my exotic crafted set with that skin….
the RTL+updraft+burning speed its not optimal (you should use ring of fireto start some combos) but its easy enough for players like me…
Btw it seems if you roll on RoF past the enemies you end up backwards facing the enemies but with camera reversed .-. in perfect place for a fire grab…but i dunno why sometimes it turns and sometimes don t.
so people complain about elementalist dagger skills because staff elementalist are hard to kill (not that they kill anyone with that build)…..
Doesn t make sense to me or do i miss something….
well except downed state that needed some sort of buff being the worst of all.

3. Traits yes, but skills? Never had a problem having enough skillpoints for my builds at lvl 35 and player skill is not related to lvl.Why you got oneshot before and didn’t later: you got better by experience or you balanced your stats and weren’t all pew-pew anymore.
1) i explain better:“did u ever seen a lvl 35 player in full green?” i think nobody saw any because at lvl 35 you don t waste money on gears that will be obsolete in 10 minutes….
2) mostly are at least gold because that is not a waste of money buyng them cheap and salvaging them as you replace with exotics…..(not to mention 3rd attribute).
3) again a proof that you are talking of a non existent scenario: if you are lvl 35 you’ll probably won t have enough skill points to cover a decent build (and most lvl 35 doesn t even know how to build because they are learning) because if you farm skill points you get past lvl 35 too fast…….
The only lvl 35 resembling your desription would be a second character made on purpose by a player with lot of money did with its first character…..
After the first dungeon run it would be a huge waste of time/gold…..
But there isn t ANY real lvl 35 players (even alts) with that equip/skills etc…

do you want to try to go infront of AC/CM and ask low level player what sort of equipment do they use so you can have a more realistic vision of the game?
Most people don’t understand anything about the way that the game’s downscaling works. The consolation for being kicked by someone who doesn’t think that you’re a high enough level is, that player is almost guaranteed to have a shaky understanding of the game’s actual mechanics. There’s really nothing to be done about it, though.
This. A level 35 wearing full greens would perform better than a level 80 wearing full blues. Unfortunately people just assume level 80 = intelligent.
1) a lvl 35 full green doesn t exists in real game…..they will probably be bad U they found possible even lower than 35……
2) most 80 wear exotics
3) even if 1&2 were not true (but they are) a lvl 35 will lack traits AND skills
Really stop saying lvl and equip doesnt matter that much….they do and a LOT….i was continuosly oneshot by anything (random AC rangers or ex) until i reached 80 and got decent equipment….then i started to kite and tank BOSSES.
The difference is HUGE.

Its 8 AM i think it will be fine to farm orr a little hoping there will be less people…i get there but is quite full as usual ._. (with the same 5 bots and lot of legit players).

if you want to farm lvl 50 zreas the best thing is to have friends….
BTW: the problem is mostly that people will farm dungeons and orr at higher lvl .-. they gives too much compared to any other activity so people just wants to do those….

@oreoz i’ll sum up saying some people would like FEW dungeon to be a challenge appropriate to the suggested EXPERIENCE and LEVEL requirements and not all of them to be endgame content or a good challenge for second or third “toons” of people that memorized the lines with their alt 80.
And i bet that statistic can prove lvl 30 and 40 dungeons both story than explore are not.

Is it rare or exotic?
I am starting to suspect some classes have an easier experience in catacombs at low levels so they assume everything is the same for every profession…..
I’ll give some example :….
-the difference between being oneshot or survive one hit is HUGE
-sigils
-runes
-traits makes healing a thing, your healing is really uneffective at low lvls
-same for gear
-I can actually use combo due to traits abilities…..
-I have more cantrips, glyphs etc (don t forget a lvl 30-40 won’t have 100 skillpoints probably).
-Attunements recover faster
-crit % becomes something you can rely on
i could go on for a long
I really struggle to undesrtand how people can deny those HUGE differences and just say L2P.
Yes a lvl 30-40 that plays since few weeks have to be flawless to survive, whereas an experienced lvl 80 can commit 2-3 mistakes before dying…….
Doesn t make much sense to me….
I mean i noticed in normal PvE the difference between green and exotic gear (and its not so unnoticeable as people says…..since i got HALF exo set my dying rate dropped of 90% while i can face double the opponents) yet people says lvl 80 geared and lvl 40 PuGs doesn t feel much differet…..
Now if you enter for example elementalist forum you see how them have to rely on cantrips/combos/auras BUILDS to not be completely useless…….and i suspect the same works for most classes….
Those builds requires at least lvl 70 so i smell hypochrysy when i read a vanilla character can face a dungeon like a lvl 80…..

Its really bad that dungeon is the easiest way to obtain exotics….
elementalist D/D is really fun in pve >.>// well somehow too squishy but fun…..but only if you can afford frequent repairs <.<
in other words, if you’re not playing it right, traiting and having gear won’t save you. dungeons are harder than normal PvE and there is a learning curve, yes, but they’re not cheap. they’re not “omg too hard”, you just need to get used to the idea that dungeons play on a different level.
yeah it makes totally sense that playing SOME lvl 80 dungeons feel easier than playng a lvl 40 story mode…..
It’s obvious because i need to learn to play…because when i’ll have i will be able to avoid all opponents attacks considering some oneshot ouright your lvl 40 character (without animation/time to react)…..
Obviously depends on the character……i know some classes have less problems than other….
Oh well maybe those oints in traits to enhance toughnness vitality and that knight exalted gear havenothing to do about it ……

I think it you should try to get to 80 (requires really little effort) and try all aspects of the game you want to comment….

If you really read all complaints you claim to read you would’ve noticed on how problems starts later expecially in solo PvE.
Personally i think staff solo PvE at 80 is possible the worst experience in this game….fortunately switching to D/D helped a lot….

I remember well how many times i read “champion XXX here need help” or “can anyone show me YYY”, or help needed ofr story etc etc etc and i don t go because travel costs so much :|
This get even worse when you have to play with lower levels, were they happily teleport everywhere and you walk a lot
Jormag imho is good…it takes a lot of time and its fun because you have to evade things, destroy ice pillars and if you ignore elementals as OP says they come to kill players from the back……
I tried the Shatterer also sometimes….
Its really a delusion, that is pure zerg and it lasts nothing…..
I don t want dragons to become difficult, but mechanics like those of jormag that requires people to do something and that makes the fight a little longer are really good imho.
i agree most story modes are really hard….
Also most people here won t admit that huge difference that makes lvl and equip.
I had to try it for myself, using “the squishy” class known as elementalist……
So many people say “learn to play you go glass cannon etc etc” without even considering that you don t have ANY choice unless you have gear and level to put traits into….
So yes playin a lvl 80 explore mode (tried 2 or 3) is way easier than playing a lvl 30-40 story mode.
Gear is really important……i tried dungeons with blue and greens and got oneshot while doing nothing .-. some time after i got there in Exotic and didn t even die while i remained alone against 3-4 opponents (party died).
Btw i can be considered the most casual gamer ever, i play for fun, and i don t care to farm or anything (well i farm jormag for fun <.< when i can but never dropped anything good), but it took me a week to get my crafted lvl 80 exotic set…plus a weapon.
And i think i am one of the slowest out there <.<
Gw 2 may have some problems (expecially in dungeon difficulty balancing where lower levels are often the most difficult) but grinding is not one of them….unless you want estethic things like legendary weapons
You can try any other mmorpg and enjoy spend many months to get your max level gear…….
P.S. also there are even really fast (legit) ways to obtain gear from what i heard…

Well it took really a lot to me to craft my first exotic armor set….
Its now time to put sigils on it, and i really don t want to mess all the work i did until now…

You should watch some D/D ele vids…you’ll notice that most players plays the class relying on stuns/mobility rather than damage, and fire spells are not the best….
Even if they are good as opener but asenemies comes at you you have to start using your stuns and dodges to avoid being hit at all.
Also if things goes bad summon your earth elemental and start to kite so the elemental can aggro some mob and you can concentrate on the remaining.
Yes most other classes just stands still and use 1-3 skills >.> but if you want to play ele you have to accept what you have untile we will be fixed..

I want to play dungeon (any) to chill out with guildmates, friends and maybe make new friends…
you state clearly its a way to farm equip (and gold)
I repeat people just think when played your first character, what was your skill level at 35 but also at 60…and ask yourself if you were easily able to do AC with random people & no guides……i can see that with your alt after months of play you can do them all……
Don t even tell me ….i know i m bad and everyone else is a smartkitten>:3 able to do combo fields at will and any sort of combo with strangers when they were lvl 1/2 but ….just ask yourself in your head…..and try to remember….before posting again that people is bad because tehy find a lvl 35 catacomb hard.

As a matter of fact, dungeons are more about surviving the enemies instead of taking them down as fast as possible.
As long as you are in the open world you learn that you need a lot of dps in order to participate in dynamic events and that regular pve mobs are easier to deal with if you take them down before the can use their combos.
The game also doesn’t show you that you really have to dodge unless you are in a dungeon.
can i ask you wich class do you use….because i know only maybe a couple that needs dugeon to improve their gamestyle…
What i see in dungeon is really different, mostly how to fool AI with some sort of not intended kiting, or zerg 5 VS1 trying desperately to wipe a single target out before the rest of the enemies wipe out the party so at the respawn you get 1 less opponents……
at level 70 things becomes more pinful….try to get to orr.
At level 30 everything is easy for every class in normal PvE
yesterday i was trying to complete a heart mission deep underwater….
i completed it and the pigeon arrived XD……

CoF Explore (the path with the bomb)
Aside from the bomb part i would rate AC the most difficult followed by first and third encounter of CM….(unless you have not less than 2 good tanks).
CoF EXPLORER (except the bomb) is easy in comparison….
Also i use a toughness/vit ele >.> not a glass cannon for sure…..if you ask on this forum everything is easy……if you log into the game and ask casual players things changes a bit.
Also AC i tried explorer once and that Boss that oneshot everything AoE unless you have sharp reflexes and an awesome connection AND you learned his animation…is really appropriate for a lvl 35 player….
I really don t get what s wrong with making low level catacombs easier and high level harder so peaple learn slowly how to face them….(no problem if they remove dungeon armors for lower lvl dungeon…casual wants to play it not the reward).
Also having a lvl 80 dungeon armor would be more rewarding…….because only few could have it.
i have problems with mobs oneshotting me actually….yeah i know i can fill myself and team with combos, boons, use various strategies etc
….but require a similar level for a BEGINNER dungeon is too much. but instead of asking me just drop by AC and wait for some new players to do story mode for the first time….
When they exit ask them thei impressions…….i think with this method there would be no doubt…
actually we are playing different games….also reading different forums considering how many people EXPECIALLY at low lvl complain about dungeons….
I mean i don t care if a lvl 80 is difficult….but a lvl 30 dungeon should be just little more difficult than a scripted event…….
I can solo many lvl 80 events but i still hesitate to play CM story for ex because the first golem oneshot my 80% defensive builded ele >.>
Then the first ambush is bloody hard if anyone dies…..(or if you don t pull enenies one at a time that i don t think is intended….)….
Then it becomes really easy….
So basically 1st and third part are the most difficult….instead of the latters.
Now tell me L2P but if i reached 80, can solo many events, kill veterans etc and can do lot of different things i should probably be able to play the second easiest dungeon with random players…..
And note that i m not a so casual player…….having played competitively many games with results some years ago…..
Dungeons lacks of what is called a good design…
That is a linear increase of difficulty to help you actually LEARN how to play correctly dungeons…
As they are they are nothing but END GAME content…….
Now there are plenty of players that tells you to check guides (why on earth? i am wanting to play not to copy…if to succeed i have to know before what to do and just repeat i feel myself like a bonobo rather than a player)or that dungeons are easy….
But the truth is that maybe for the skill required or maybe for the experience or the equip/level a fresh lvl 30 player trying with friends AC or a lvl 40 new player trying CM will probably fail horribly (not to mention if they don t use teamspeak they are wasting their time).
They should increase difficulty (and rewards) according to required level so there are dungeons for “skilled players” and dungeons for casual players that teach you team play and such rather than doing what they do now that is saying:“come back when you are 80 full exotic if you don t want to lose time/silver”

Well i am currently searching for armroed scale being their price really high.
I checked all mobs that are dropping those with a lvl 75 magic find set >.> but couldn t drop any despite trying for hours……(not that i am farming fast because i’m not really strong with my ele underwater :|).
(should be lvl 75-80 barracuda, and ice drakes etc).
I heard there are other ways to get those tier 6 materials…for example the forge but couldn t figure how it works….(i have also plenty mystic coins <.</)?
Could you explain me or give some indications to find them?

WHen i put it on it worked 2-3 times after that it ceased to work in few activation…..almost completely…..
Like it was decreasing the limit for some reason…..i obviously changed traits .-. i tested for 2 days already and gave proofs and they will fix it after they’ll have nerfed everything possible….because nerfs are a priority…

There are numbers and proofs
Example out of 14500 HP final shielding not popping at 1490 but at next hit i suffered. (900)
same for earth’s embrace…..test for yourself…..or just look at screens in bug section..they are beyond doubt…..
Visually they are more than enough to prove the issue

Arcane armor pops out at 30-35% instead of 50%
Final shielding at 10% (if you survive because you will get hit often for more than 10%) instead of 25%

I am trying to craft my exotic equipment.
So i saw a guide and told me that cheap one requires orichalcumhilt and blade (that means 50 orichalchum ore or something like that), 50 skill points and some mystic coins >.>
But actually stats on that dagger are really not suited for me…being power (ok), healing and condition damage (not ok).
i didn t find another recipe aside those requiring uber costly molten stones etc.
Is that the only cheap exotic dagger i can craft?

you can PvE with staff on large group of enemies until you reach 60…
And as long as there are no ranged…
that because you have some crowd control spells that slows them down for few seconds while dealing risibledamage, but then you have time to finish them off and doesn t matter if you are playing against 1 or 4 opponents because all you cast is aoe…
but at higher levels you finish CC spells when opponents are still at 75% HP and then you are stuck in recharging skills and attunements without any tool to reduce damage, while kite is impossibe against opponent that seems on constant swiftness.
But at least you made it to 60 >.>
Staff:
-start with earth skill 2, wait a second go with 4 in front of opponent and then 5,
-switch to water, skill 4 and 2
-switch to air, skill 5
-switch to fire….nuke witj everything you have
remember to use some cantrips to escape like mist form…..
AS soon as you can get the elite skill of elementals…and summon earth elemental if the battle seems too hard….it tanks quite well
this works even on large groups of opponents for a decent amount of time
yes infact sunday i was able to play my ele, on monday i wasn t due to 2 new major bugs that prevent traits to work as intended……
Now tell me if this is a good patch….considering they didn t fix anything but they ruined what already worked……

final shielding not activating at 1500 now after 3 minutes cooldown……earth embrace started working sometimes…..seems randomly….
P..S. tested again working as first post again -_- (NB i leave 3 minutes at least to make them recharge..).

Just tested Final Shielding on the Mesmer NPC in the Mists (he’s the least bursty with more consistent DPS) and it activated at around 3k of my 15k HP. Seems to be working fine.
Earth’s Embrace activated at roughly 50%, too.
Try testing it on an NPC with consistent DPS as opposed to heavy hitters. If you drop from 50% HP to 10%, then yeah, Final Shielding won’t activate until you’re at 10%.
I tested a MOA (you know that weird looking bird i think slightly less powerful than jormag)……and i can assure at 7000 of >14000 iddn t trigger….it did under 5000
Same for final shielding activating at 1000 or less
dunno what to do but i m not crazy nor are other people in the map i asked (far shiverpeaks).
Unfortunately i have only an armor and i cannot get another to see if its the armor fault or what
