come with me in TA and i ll show you that one boss still oneshots me despite my tank build just because i didn t put ALL in toughness and vitality but just 75% of my equip (and NOT with an attack avoidable on reaction).

Even in normal pve the difference is basically between struggling with 2 mobs or being able to cather 15 at ORR and mass kill them.

So i am quite fed up with the excuse that SOME players thinks there is no difference….
Well some professions are equipment based you like it or not….

also all players that knows how exotic are gamechanging for some classes compared torares in most cases (wvw and dungeons) knows that this gear is required…

Ok now some warrior will post here that he could do dungeons in masterwork…..because yeah they tested the game with warriors it seems considered for example elementalista get oneshot by most opponents unless they have SPECIFIC exotic gear…

so most classes will NEED the new jewels now, armors then….

Also if someone doesn t like dungeons he is completely cut out half game…..(i crafted my exotic set for example)……

Also this clearly says after this patch dungeon will be boring for “ascended equipped players”.

So i do not believ in the excuse playerbase needed grinding to not get bored -.-

NO i choose gw1 due to the lack of trendmill and grind…..
If i wanted similar features i would have played one of the thousand F2P mmorpgs out there…..

this is not related to connections…

Proof?

i had 2 characters:
1 could play without lag, the other was stuck on loading screen or drop due to connection to login server and had heavy lag… (was able to change 3 areas to test b4 dropping that were Lion s arch, the area above LA and finally WvW).

Ater 2-3 hours when i changed zone with the working character, it ceased to work……

This points that the issue is not related to connection rather than being server side….

really is there people that thinks that introducing new tiers of armors is something fresh and new?

Or what the games need?

99,9% of players that were informed on what they were buying, decided to choose GW2 because its different from other mmorpg…

There is no grinding REQUIRED, there is no trendmill of equipment and you can level and dress fast…..

Now some players here wants to make us believe that a move that push GW2 towards any other random mmorpg, and change the primary characteristic that led most players to buy the game, not only is good but is wellcome by a great part of the communit?

Good luck nobody will trust you……its too simple and too clear.

IF they will really introduce a new tier of armors they will just get more angry customer and this time a really HUGE %

Because GW is known as the no grind mmorpg………remove that feature and what is left?

Its the same for everyone, strangely i have 2 characters one of 15 in a norn area and another of 80.

That of 80 couldn t login or dc as it managed to, i have been able to play the lvl 15 without lag for hours …then moving to sparkly fen caused me same problem than the previous…

— I suspect these, and other traits and armor rune effects like it (Superior Rune of Earth, 6pc bonus) that trigger on % of hp are triggering on base hp of 10,805 instead of whatever your real maximum hp is. The images provided show Earth’s Embrace triggered at 5,200 (current hp 5,370 having just received 170hp from a tick of regeneration – too bad combat log wasn’t shown, so we can see how much that moa hit for) which is pretty close.

even if it was based on base HP
final shielding should at least pop at 2500 HP
It triggered under 1495 (see image before and after) that was 11% of my life at that time….

Its either a huge ninja nerf or a different bug…didn t test it since there btw >.> i was also learning daggers for that reason i was using the 2 shield traits….

Didn’t test since then.

For gw you needdifferent tactics for different situations,, for DS you just need to know enemy pattern and backstab or pierce.

for 2) its not like that…

There is a difference between an enemy that does the same pattern like: slash/slash/slash/trust EVERY time you are in front of him and an enemy that randomize attacks…..

A HUGE difference….in DS opponents does the same exact things according to your position….

The ONLY and i repeat ONLY way to kill opponents is exploiting this basilar SCRIPTS (AI is too generous).

In this way they doesn t even need any sort of balance (and the PVP system showed clearly that…..possibly worst pvp system i ever seen).

DS doesn t stand a chance against any game if not for his superior scenography, artwork and audio that are truly masterpieces…..

Its a game old of 3 generations simply roughly ported to a 3d environment….

Then new players started to create a universe of inexhistend complexity and challenges….that are nor intented nor wanted.

The game is just hugely misunderstood and the producer just saw that was a good thing to pretend all was intended….

I just have a proof
play king’s field then play dark souls…..(same team same atmosphere same dynamic almost same story…..).

If you are openminded you’ll find that is just a porting.

What could GW learn from DS?
Colourpalettes and heavy armors design…..just that ._.

P.P.S. also human females leg length lol that are somehow strange in this game…

Well it looks like a lot of gamers are even worse than PS1 levels of AI, which goes to speak as to how utterly terrible games (and players) have gotten lately when a series that follows a “take it slow, pay attention, wait for opening” approach to combat still manages to be some of the more challenging stuff in recent times.

its not so….but you should learn 2 simple facts:

1) someoene posted about artificial difficulty….

2) when VG becomes a thing, people started realizing that BAD games needed you to learn patterns of things that will happens, wherever good games let you understand and adapt to things giving you hints rather than forcing you to learn scripts dying until you saw them….

Also despite GW has some similar issues (i hope will be fixed), the game essence of dark/demon s soul, require you to learn how to exploit AI……
Its just hilarious that people didn t notice it and instead thought the game is HARD.

What do you think is better:
a memory based action rpg or a logic, tactical intelligence based mmorpg?

Its like once people with “normal” equipment tried dungeons.
They found them really hard so they complained….

After few fixes, MOST people got to 80 and got exotic sets……also they memorized anything they have to do i dungeons (run past dogs, troll VS LT etc etc etc).

So the dungeon are now easy for them……

Its clear some dungeons have some design flaws when you check one of CM path, you fail it once, you find enemies killing you at the spawn point .____.

Also opponents focusing on a single player chainstunning him forever (yes i use lot of sunbreak skills but they finish first or after and recharge is slow…and its a pure matter of luck not of skill, because sometimes they do that stunchains and sometimes they don t in this case the path is really easy)….

I’ll tell you a secret….

Dark/demon’soul was just a big stroke of LUCK.

That game is a concept old of more than 10 yeras its the adapting of an old game called “king’s field” to a new technology, and the game resulted hard due to lot of ISSUES in tha gameplay (read your character moves are slow).

The real thing is that dark souls, despite having a fantastic graphic (not tehcnically), its a game based on a AI of 10+ years ago….

The game was really easy for old school players that instead of trying creative strategies just were accustomed to adapting to Playstation1 lvl AI. (AI is not even a word i would use…. because enemies use just 2-3 patterns).

Some old players may have recognized what happened….

Not a wonder dark souls was a complete copy of demon’s souls and i bet the sequel will be the same….because no offence but the game had a huge success due to inflation of FPS and such and the lack of other games…(easy to understand for console players that knows its easier to see 6 cod per year than a single action rpg).

Also PvP was a joke based on huge glitch repeating the same lag abusing tactic forever….

So really even comparing dark soul (a BUDGET game that had lot of LUCK) to a game with the complexity of GW2 is a nonesense imho..

And remember if a complex game like gw2 has bugs, a simple game like DS has lot more and even worse, and they even force you to exploit some of them calling them “challenge” lol.

P.S: and just to be clear i play that serie from first king’s field so i m not a hater…..

may i suggest you a DualDagger elementalist?
its lot of fun, expecially since they gave us a little needed buff.

Its not the strongest profession, but its viable i think >.> and you can switch to staff if needed (out of combat) with the same build, but as i said its probably one of the most fun…..

Exactly the opposite…AS level 80 full exotic player finally finding dunegons doable…
I care to say

LVL 30-LVL40_LVL50 dungeons ARE NOT endgame content….

Despite some of you that already reached max lvl would like so…

That is just eghoistic and hurts the game……reaons are easy…
The game needs variety even for new players, and if you need to show them a dungeon nowaday, its just a pain…..

And if new players arerelegated to their empty pve areas…they grew bored andquit the game….and if they quit the game, the game dies even for US lvl 80 geared players…

Is that so difficult to understand?

P.S. again on Kohler ….stop giving advices if you get rid of his minions with exploits….thank you….

No really i don t want to talk for other aspects of the game but guardians are universally known as the best dungeon class……..with no comparison also…..

I don t complain about DD elementalist in dungeon, but really life is so easy for everyone when you have a good guardian in party, whereas an elementalist are meh

You know what happened the first time I went into AC? I got one shot. By traps. By Lt. Kohler, whatever. But I didn’t come on the forums and whine about it. I stopped going into dungeons with my 12k hitpoints. I took time to work on my gear and get myself up to about 16k.

YOU clearly didn t even read a word on this thread……yet posting here L"P you exactly prove the superficiality of some players behavior….

2 things here
16.000 HP in ac with an ele? great tell us your secret, you probably have 32.000 HP in lvl 80 areas XD

Also are you telling us that you must be a lvl 80 geared player to face a lvl 40 dungeon?
EXACTLY what i said …..

AC EXPLORABLE doesn’t mean first dungeon. AC story mode does.

pre patch (dunno if something changed) story was even harder for DD ele…..being oneshot by rangers didn t give you much room for “skill”. (obviously a norrmal lvl 35…. i know that i can tank and burn whole rooms at 80)

Lt. Kohler is an example of a great boss mechanic, he has a clear sign of when he’s going to pull you in. If you don’t avoid it, you get punished.

Another proof you didn t read a word…..
Its easy if you are fighting LT ALONE …….
That suggests also you use one of those skillfull tactics (aka AI abuse)

I will say again, you people whining on the forums about the easiest dungeon are the type of players who walk into the dungeon, get owned, and then cry foul.

No you are just one short sighted player….that cannot even understand AC is more difficult than HOTW and some CoF paths….but also TA……just to tell some….

I’m an elementalist btw, which is one of the squishiest characters in the game, AND I do dungeons as double dagger which puts you in melee range most of the time.

and again if you did read a single sentence you would have understood i use an ele DD too and that i can TANK at lvl 80…

good to quote random sentences from devs..

They stated earlier…….but then after tests….

They noticed dungeon are a mess and they are working on them to be make them fun… (already did lot of changes afaik)

Some of them are obviously rushed…and they noticed….

They are doing a good job on this game, but do not pretend this game is flawless hiding behing L"P because you are only damaging the community for some selfish reasons……

Again this told by a full geared player that can play dungeons often without dying…

@kuthos…do you know why i did gave up at first? cbecause my light low hp class got one shot by most random elites….even ranged making dungeons impossible for me….
And trust me NO PLAYER could do better than that in same situation…..

Being oneshot by ranged mobs means you cannot do anything….

You can see for yourself so many design flaws in dungeons you shouldn t even discuss..

lets look at CoF, you see a boss with regen crystals, you plan a strategy to get some members on crystals, the boss regen too fast….

You focus the whole group on the boss…… it dies fast :|

CM boss with a bbreath effect hits you almost behind him…..(oneshotting anyone not exo geared and i have a gaming connection+a top PC).

LT oneshot you unless you evade flawlessly his attack, that is quite doable UNLESS you are facing his minions……

But again remember that its the FIRST dungeon….

CM story robot -.- lol at oneshottng warrior…..try an ele….and you cannot evade so much.

It can be said that ANY dungeon with a planned team of given professsions and specs becomes doable even at lower level…

But doing so the chance to being able to form a group at lvl <80 becomes impossible…..saving the same excuse used by most:

ALTs full gold geared etc etc etc..

The point is: i think anet is doing a good job and they are noticing dungeon issues already…(and they fixed some already)
But plz stop this LTP nonsense, that imho just hurts the community only to boost your ego or something like that…….

Common sentences used in “coordinated and SKILLED” groups.

-lets pull here that mob so we can kill it and then face the others….
-jumping here avoids the battle
-just run the next part
-pull the boss out of his room so we can fight her without traps
-you can hit the mob in the other room through the wall

I think most people can confirm

Also because:
I want to see lvl 35 skilled players storm the central area of LT ghost facing the whole group as its supposed to be done….

They are too hard for their requisites and quite easy at max lvl that’s all.
Also lvl 80 are often easier than lvl 35-45, not to mention that there is no diffculty progression…..TA first boss is the harder….then all becomes easier.

show me a vid of 5 lev 35 ELEMENTALIST (just saying a low HP low armor class) with blue gear finishing the dungeon easily….

Without any AI abuse possibly…..
lol you cannot even stand a chance against LT…even if you evade all his hook attacks.
Also ifyou can EVADE his hook attacks WHILE taking care of his minions
Or don t say me you use “divide et impera” tactics because its just blatant AI abuse…

Even most lvl 80 in full exotic abuse AI……then comes here to say “dungeons are so easy…..”

Any player playing with random party knows it…

lol to people who thinks that a lvl 30-40 players can afford to dress full rare at 40….
Even all masterwork is too much…..

Dungeons are designed for lvls 80 possibly half exotic, or just alts of players knowing dungeon TRICKS and dressed in full rare.

TLDR:
I complained about dungeon difficulty like you until i got half my gear exotic….they became doable then…when i got full exotic they became easy >.>

I can agree on just 1 thing:
There are NO dungeon fun for real low lvls (not overgeared alts)….

Being overgeared is a must for any dungeon….so people playing dungeons to get their elites find them too difficult, while geared players find them easy :| no wonder….

Also having some tanks expecially guardians makes the diffeernce too much :|

On the other hand really rewards are HUGE….compared to any other activity….you exit a dungeon with:
-tokens for 1/5 exotic thing
-25 silvers reward
-HUGE amount of drops…..

That makes a run worth of 1-2 G that is not even comparable to any other in game activity…….with the exception of farming orr like a bot .-. that is sooo boring and should be nerfed.

won t work…u need to deal a certain amount of damage to get rewardsat least on a aprty lvl (so being in party helps a lot).

Btw using DD really let you solo without much efforts, just focus on fire spells.
p.S. staff is too slow and low AoE damage won t get you any reward…

well i must play a different game…
I was here posting how difficult dungeon were for a lot….
I was oneshot by anything in almost any dungeon….

One day farming my dear friend jormag claw and his home….i finally got the money to buy some of the armored scale i needed so badly :/ (no way to drop them even if i tried).

So i went to craft my runeless exotic coat, pants and helm >.> then i was invited to the same group i played dungeons.

Suddenly i could TANK (took some time to notice)…….i survived even when the whole team was wiped away :| enough to let them come back in the fight…..

In PvE also i was suddenly immortal ._.

From then i could run any dungeon with any party quite easily….(i also completed my armor set noticing even more difference)

As i said at least SOME classes (ele 10/10/10/20/20) benefit hugely from equipment….

So despite i don t have problem in playing with 2-3 pugs in dungeons i really cannot read people that says equipment doesn t matter, levels doesn t matter traits doesn t matter…

Its simply not true.

no way when my model is completely engulfed inside a norm or a charr model halfway when just 3 of us remains (happened me so many times) i can definitely say its not an excuse…..

Btw i find the jumping puzzle bad designed and unfun…i usually try to complete any challenge, but in this case after some hours i just understood its just not fun, and i have many other things to do in the game that instead are fun…..

uh well it doesn t happen ._. dunno why but i really play lot of solo events in orr and i seldom die….maybe its because i run in exotic knight set >.> or for any other reason…

Or maybe because i roll towards opponent when they are close…

I obviously don t gather opponent running for minutes…i just kill groups i find….

Good tactic i didnt think of. Props to byron for it However i still dont see you surviving incoming dps from before earthquake and after it. Almost certain ud be forced to heal before you got to E5.

as i said i m not so good (infact using combos properly would result even in deady damage), this is just the easiest tactic i could figure out but i can say you this

it works in orr also because you KD opponent and while they recover you start E5 and while charging you can use your armor of earth without interrupting the skill…
So you suffer lessdamage because opponent have really few time to hit you AND because you also have damage reduction, if something go wrong you still have plenty tactics to breathe and heal yourself….

It works really well in dungeons also…

with DD you can:

earthquake/churning earth (avoid interrupts with armor of earth)
roll back
burning speed/ring of fire /fire grab
rtl updraft
frozen burst heal and if the mob group is still alive just summon your earth elemental….

there are even better strategies (this is easy >.>) but with this you can dish huge aoe damage so the number doesn t matter.
And this with a defensive build, you die if you finish your evasive skills/endurance….

With staff I (myself i know may people are better) i can just SLOW opponents contrl them but not kill them .-. before they can attack

Good things:
-Mad King dungeon
-costumes
-mystic cauldron
-labyrinth
-recovering fast the mad king server issues…..
-but most of all “shiny” plastic spiders u.u

Bad things:
-mad king servers issues
-clock tower -.- graphical issues and norn/charr issues
-everything about both the halloween weapons…..

Overall a nice event but not perfect though….

maybe but i can tank (well its not the right term because you won t be damaged) 1-8 with a knight set and D/D…

i mean ._. ther’s quite a disparity in that..i mean not an experienced players….but a staff player havng issues with 2 mobs getting 6-8 without a problem JUST switching weapon…

Just a question…

I builded my character crafting the armor i liked, and the weapons i liked…

I still miss runes and jewelry, but i find myself with 200.000+ karma and nothing to get from it :|

Is there any way to spend the karma to get something nice for my second character?

I’m a level 80 elementalist and basically our game ends at BloodTide coast. You can continue further if you’ve got friends/guild members to keep you from getting hit and revive you when you get 1 or 2 hitted. You’ll lose money on harder maps due to frequent armor repair and telephoning when defeated. Some players insist on tanking, but you’ll do so little damage that it is a real joke.

My ele has map completed PvE open world mostly solo; the game definitely does not end at Blood Tide.

Not saying it was easy, not comparing it to other classes; just saying it can survive/farm Orr (Half exotic/rare) and Frostgorge (Full rare).

I should add that I did all this using a staff, which popular opinion seems to indicate is not as good a solo weapon as daggers.

Well that appears to be my problem, I can’t afford exotics and have been only able to get a few rares. The problem is dieing and armor repair drain my money too quick. I guess what I’m going to honestly have to do is buy gems and sell them for gold to get anywhere with my (frail)mentalist from what your suggesting.

-farm dragons or orr
-get gold equipment for CHEAP or from drops
-go to dungeons

i mean i could get an exotic set in 1 week despite farming the place with the worst drops in the game…..i.e. frostgorge…and i did that in all blue.

Also i m not so good but with DD you often won t get almost touched by opponents….so who cares if its squishy as long ans you aren t oneshot (thing that will happen when you are all blue )

Imho:

-Staff for solo PvE is a complete mess….its completely unviable.
-fix RTL
-fix final shielding
-fix earth’s embrace .-.

As i say it doesn t make sense i can 1VS6+ in DD and lose to 2 with staff…..(i mean i played 1-80 with staff and switched to DD just since 3 weeks).

Dungeons gives lot of moneys AND tokens to get cheap weapons….
Maybe armors are a little costly but i get comparable income in running dungeons and farming orr that is something imho shouldn t even exist…….

Any other activity seems less rewarding….i really cannot get how people complain about dungeon rewards…

Having played the lvl 80 norn zone with a good amount of events and claw of jormag kills till i got moneys to craft my exotic set, i can say that dungeon rewards are really high.

@crater dynamic events are a sleepwalk .-. i don t think so….lot of people just farm those 2-3 events and leave the rest of the map unexplored….because some events are more challenging than dungeons unless you zerg them.

Same works for ANY piece of gear……that is 13-14 pieces…no difference in having a third statX13-14

….i think people can note the difference by themselves even if they are scaled

Traits doesn t make a difference…
For an elementalist they do a HUGE difference……maybe a warrior is less affected dunno.

SKILLS also…who has all skills unlocked at 80 so they can choose?

RUNES/SIGILS/etc ……same that equip….another 12 stats enhancements

also again who at lvl40 is full gold/green?

Conclusion….behing more honest that most…i can actually say that I tried dungeons with my ele at lvl 40 i was horrified, at lvl 60 i still was terrified….at lvl 80 …..meh easy…..

I noticed because i was used to not being touched by ANY opponent or die….just to tank anything at lvl 80……

If you are rich and you know exactly what happens, how to trick AI, and many tricks involved, then you can play dungeon at 40 with your full gold ALT <=== if you are on your first run….and possibly with a light armor class don’t panic…one day you ll be 80 in full exotic and you will be abel to come here telling newbies Learn2Play

P.S: a little math:
in the case above you get something like 100+ bonus toughness (already scaled) only from armor weapon possibly much more from traits, and another good amount from runes.

You know you can try for yourself just lowering traits and equipping lvl 40 stuff to your 80 and then look at the difference…..

go in your starting racial city…you should see a purple portal…
It will lead you to lion’s arch city.

There you can play costume brawl or you can speak to a character in the city square, you’ll play a quest with a nice reward…

You could possible need help for the last part of that event though >.> of other players or of few high lvl players…

Well it should be easy because there are plenty players doing the same quest….

Actually normal PvE gives you even less ..
I really was shocked how much money you can made in dungeons, without even taking in account you also get tokens for a free exotic armor >

If something needs fixes is normal PvE way before dungeons imho…
I did 3 g in 2 runs yesterday :| i did the same amount in many days of pve…..unless i farmed orr where i did less the same…

So in dungeon i kill everything i can…
Also remember that they already said they will check dungeons AND loots…..so these threads have already an answer.

I mean there is no mob stealing here so….

Another of my favourite strategies is luring mobs to fight between them selves and when they are about to die just release all my aoe on them :P

But my fave of all is trolling the champion troll:
In the norn lvl 80 map there is a champion troll…

I just run there summon my earth elemental, open the chest while the champion is busy with the elemental and just run with the loot….

Hi ._.// casual player here…..

I play PvE DD also, and it happened often to go to Orr where i can farm events almost alone (obviously not champions)….

I wouldn t tell you L2P because i just think you maybe have the wrong equipment….
Being half exotic with some thoughness makes you really hard to kill with DD.

And DD is way easier than staff.
Just remember armor of earth and an aoe stun when you wants to use churning earth…..
Then you have aoe chill, another stun, aoe cripple, lot of aoe damage and lot of skills to evade….

Cone of cold is huge also…..

And if you are losing the battle, just summon an earth or ice elemental and let them tank for you.

really if you have problems its probably due to lack of equip…i know people says its not important but actually a knight set for example, reeally changes the way you play letting you tank 7-8 opponents.

I struggled against 2 opponents with staff being unable to kill them while i finished my control skills, but with DD is all quite easy.

If you use YOUR cauldron you become a hylek (tried 10 times to check and works the same for other players i asked)

If you use a couldron of anotherwitch even if you are with you get random transformation…..

But i think most transformations comes only from the forge

So in your opinion:

-gear doesn t matter
-profession doesn t matter (much)
-level doesn t matter

Despite math says the opposite…….

If what you say is true then you could almost run solo dungeons without equip after all the third attribute is meaningless, armor is meaningless, HP are meaningless you can avoid any hit …….

We, the normal skilled players, cannot…and for us the boost given by lvl/profession/equip is more than noticeable….

Its not a good excuse to leave PuG out of dungeons tbut at least a reason to get some good equipped/leveled playesr in the party.

it seems that in orr i can kill more enemies of any most other classes ._. with DD…(except warriors <.<).

i can get 6+ mobs possibly more, and if i take too many i still have solid chances to escape….

Staff isn t really a weapon for soloing…DD is much easier.

You can take many hits but the points is that you won’t almost be hit…

And trust me i m a casual (but competent) player so no uber skill required ._.//
