A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

The opposite.
Celestial is supposed to offer more than average stats because balanced stats should be easier to balance while the extremes are less easy to balance.
Issue is the game is not balanced at all.
compare it to zerker, celestial gives almost as much ferocity as zerker and more vitality for example…
Less power+less precision = way less damage.
Don t do the same mistake people did when anet released ferocity patch.
Celestial preferocity was a midground between zerker and soldier despite having more crit damage than berserker.
Now is just a tanky set more near to soldier and in some cases has evenless dps than soldier itself.
All for the sake of “lore” since it had a primary stat and was crit damage while other stats were lower.
In their first interview they just “forget” that lore is a bad balancing reason and cut about 20% crit damage from it (until thousands posts on the forum got readed by a dev).
Then they realized shortly before the patch, but instead of a logic solution (see a conversion that would get the same ferocity nerf as berserker and not 3 times more) they just pushed all stats without caring of change of purpose (big issue for WWW and PVE celestial owners).
A bit closer to the gameplay i like (Warband/DarkSouls).

Its exactly the same gameplay as darksoul.
Same AI, same replayability.
Simply darksouls is a single player game (the pvp is just ridiculous) and the fact it plays exactly as gw2 is clear only to the few people that playis it more than once… at that point they start the naked runs and similar stuff exactly as Gw2
When you become experienced it plays exactly as GW with rotations and the same tactic over and over but since you kill bosses just few times its less boring.
GW2 unfortunatley has less “dungeon” content compared to Darksouls and is about repeating the same stuff over and over.
That is why its easier to notice.
P.S: predetermined rotations are not easy, its just something should be in a rythm game and not in a mmorpg…they get easy fast and thus boring.
When a beginner won a 3rd place in a MarvelVScapcom tournament just because knew the combos/rotations without actually reacting anything the game was considered the perfect example of BAD game.
Dungeons are basically the same stuff.
Reason why most people can play it with more than 200 milliseconds latence.

Was tossing this around the other day with some people.
An easy way to balance Celestial gearsets in PvE an PvP is to remove condition damage from the set.
.
Because celestial is so strong that its clearly PvE meta (there are only 3 sets in PvE: berserker, assassin and soldier).
I have a better idea.
Remove it from PvP.
Revert the pre ferocity changes for PvE and WWW (i.e. a direct conversion of stats rather than the “lore” version we had to make stats equal).
And stop thinking changes to pvp makes sense for anything else but PvP.

The changes to celestial were a mistake…there were thousands posts about them, ignored as Always…..
I put one more celestial trinket for mistake (i use only armor, 1 ring and 1 earring, the other celestial is berserker) i have many trinkets i put one more cele instead of zerker in the build for mistake.
For anything else i just readed 1 reason why the build would be wrong, and was clearly wrong not factoring the relation between sigils, traits and stats.
The part about celestial is another void l2p that just suggest (i may be wrong) the usual wrong idea that WWW roaming and PvP have anything in common..

I wonder how suddenly some players decided GW2 has a deep pve combbat mechanic.
Will you even write the AI is awesome just in order to get a chance to say L2P to someone?
Do you know how much dps do you miss leaving fire for a staff ele for example?
Consider you are locked out of it for 12 seconds at least, you suddenly change only when its really needed.
Otherwyse you use lavafont, autoattack and random blasts.
Warrior gameplay is not that different.
Mesmer in most situation needs to keep reflect OR damage, in both case the gameplay is not that deep either…
Not a wonder meta is SW/X-SW/Y reducing skills to 7 + utilities and often just usning 3-4 to be effective.
Warrior before patch ( i didn t use much post patch) used the pure GS builds that were a 11112 spamfest unless something went bad.
Its not because someone is letting you play like that, is more because combat is so bad that could be theoretically done writing macros for Whole fights.
But lets speak about “rotations”…
The effectiveness of rotations with cooldowns is sign of a passive play in wich reaction is not needed but only proaction.
Unless you introduce some level of randomness (pugs) but even so unless someone messes up badly, its still the old stuff.
That suggests combat have huges holes.
Reactive skills are just useless…between multiple or unblockable attacs parries are useless, CC often doesn t work at all, damage reduction in PvE is a joke due to somany 1HKO (don t even try to deny it i already have many screenshots of trash mobs fast Attacks hitting for 14K+).
In few words, PvE never left the BETA but was ruined more by PvP professions balance and PvE mobs immunities to prevent easy runs.

Soldier builds lacks damage burst(that can be obtained through many fast Attacks).
Yep the debuff was broken some Patches ago.
No more debuff at all.
But since it doesn t make things easier for players, its a low priority fix..
I never have problem in runs, can carry if needed and adapt, that earned me a huge followers list, i really doubt i am blacklisted.
Most of the follower list are either doing something else or just offline.
Maybe not hourS, but 1 hour maybe.
Consider that now the game on eu servers is totally unplayable from 19 to 23 PM (see WWW primetime) due to unbearable lag in any game mode….. that possibly helps.
People are not willing to play something that can be slowed by lag wipes.
(when the game freezeds for everyone for 5 seconds or even worse during a boss fight 3 out of 5 DC and if you are unlucky even 5 out of 5 closing the istance).
P.S. regarding PvE balance…
Its HORRIBLE.
Meta builds use really few skills in combat…
If most professions have to just 111121111211112 and so on it becomes boring easily.
They keep to remove conditions, CC, reflects and so on from the game until 90% of your skills are useless.

The game is unplayable since acouple of months…..
Simply t WWW primetime the game becomes like playing on a 56K modem but for server fault… and while other skill lag is masked, mobility skills can t be and thus happens what we know.
I’m curious if with the megaserver clusters they reduced resources also.

Took me almost a year of tests before getting to the first build
I also used also 02066 02246 00266 03236 and so on.
I have 3 daggers and 5 armorsets and as many trinkets as i want: i tried really lot of combination
Now how did i get to that build:
1) Its not PvP and the PvP build justs lacks damage and achieve nothing against any decent opponent. (also healing is not as effective given the >30% stats difference from pvp).
2) you have problems infact Killing thieves warriors and mesmers with PvP build (they can flee at will and still be able to have solid chances of Killing you).
3) you have problems at XvsX (example 2vs2 or 3VS3) if focused.
4) you have a favourable matchup against necros.
For point 1 just increasing power/precision/crit damage ratio was mandatory, full celestial lacks power, since the ferocity patch it became a tanky setup.
For point 2 you need Burst.
Using LF, air sigil, air 3 trait and arcane shield (+ the weapon skills) you will really do lot of damage in few seconds preventing opponents to counter burst you.
Just try a air3, LF+updraft, fire 3-2…. arcane shield etc
If that is not sinergy…
For point 3 you really needed something more reliable than a 40 second RTL, having also the aura and updraft traited helps a lot… don t forget that LF+updraft are both traited.
You can disengage in a XvsX fight at least once..if focused wasting some dps of opponent party.
Point 4 dictated what to sacrifice…..since water 5 is awful and water 6 is too much at this point.
Plus: healing, condition and thoughness were balanced swapping gear until they was enough for me.
So giving up one more cond cleanse in Exchange of a strong burst doen t mean lacking sinergy, its simply changing them focusing on burst other than condition cleanse that is already enough.
The second is simply a condition+power build..if you look at the most effective roaming builds in WWW they all have an high dps output.
Not as optimal but still viable…and extremely good aginst mesmers and thieves (but has some issues in XvsX and other matchups).
p.S. to roam you need mobility…focus lacks it that is enough of a reason to avoid focus, also lowers you damage a lot without offering anything but a good defence on a long cooldown.
ex:
Water 4 is good, water 5 is meh
Air 4 is situational (better just close the distance and fight), air 5 is a really good cc (but so is dagger5).
Earth 4 is really strong and 5 is also but they have long CDS and do no damage.
Fire 4 and 5 are really weak.

I m an avid fotm player (and recently since mesmer fix i play cm and other stuff).
Its not i don t find groups suiting my profession, i just don t find any lfg.
Guild wars 2 game design failed in the end.
With a start like this it’s hard to take you seriously, but i’ll bite it.
I’d like he was wrong.
Unfortunately for some reason (don t ask me why) i hate to open LFG and i prefer to join (War/ele/mesmer so its not like i have an unwanted profession..).
When you find that except the TOP 2 easy rewarding dungeons (AC and COF) 99% LFG are sellers and you have to wait hours to see an actual real run in fractal 30-50 or CM or CoE (not to mention ARAH)…
Seems dungeon population dropped easily by 90% lately.
P.S: they have to add 3 things:
Real rewards (new skins not the grind for useless number we have in collections)
AI
PvE balance (PvP ruined it too much most effective pve build are so unfun that is only farming).

WWW is unbalanced and devs refuse to do anything about it.
WWW is about coverage (i experienced some matchups with balanced points of just pvdoor at different time .-. ex server A from 3 to 8, server B from 8 to 12, server C in the afternoon and so on…).
WWW was designed as casual PvP
At this point the only question i have is:
Why do we have a “tournament”? Isn t just better to play the unbalanced www for the sake of it?

I didn’t mean GS5 specifically in that situation, just about any AoE CC that could knock the thief down, immobilie him or whatever, to avoid hijm from just running away while stealthed – I guess it would be a good thing if every class could deal with that in some way, if that’s not already the case, as you suggested.
There are many reasons why this will neverf happen:
1st) most CC requires a target, and a profession that spends half time evading and the other half stealthed won t be hit by any.
2) SR is quite big, really few skills can push the thief out of it.
3) casting time, + positioning required to cast a CC will have a really short window margin to actually do something
4) thief can evade while in SR
5) thief heals and also can cure condition while stealthed
6) immob won t do anything (aside the fact requires a target…and stealth prevent it).
7) shadow return is the panic button… cures everything and tp away.
8) the small chance at counterplay requires you to have all your cooldown ready as if you didn t fight the thief before.
9) even if revealed thief has still lot of chances to run away unless you play a warrior
10) thief has more than SR
TL DR only chance you have to kill a thief is he is full glass cannon AND he stealth at low HP.
That is exactly the mistake of beginner thief players.
If you know how to play a thief, you can just burst/CC and if it doesn t land, stealth and try again without wasting time.
Only counter to thief in WWW are high DPS builds that are the easiest to be killed from stealth by the thief itself..
So only chance you can have is with a build thief is perfect at deal with -.-
P.S. enough with WWW is unbalanced… that is just a sad excuse to prevent the balance needed for WWW.
It matters in WWW roaming when you have to actually move fast to defend camps.
Whatt i meant is evading lower your dps by a lot.
Many professions requires far less evading, thus doesn t have to stop the dps so often.
Example:
A warrior will facetank most ligh Attacks and even some heavy one, while regenerating ghealth with signet.
Also GS3.
A mesmer will just blurred frenzy often and regenerate health via phantasms.
An ele to be good dps doesn t use heal signet nor Dagger fire 2, but has to actually evade.
Since you can t even afford a breakstun skill to be optimal dps, you have also to evade a lot.
And pray to not be forced to change attunement/drop your hammer…
P.S. also you finish endurance quite easily in some fights and you get downed.
Try to stack with pugs and tell me you won t be downed often…
P.P.S. soloing doesn t mean being good for something.
Soloing is a personal challenge…but most solo build are overall BAD for groups.

I haven’t played WvW (except a little EotM Zerging, I’m relatively new to the game) yet, but I have a question:
Why would it be a problem to hit a stealthing thief with aoe ccs? Let’s say a Mesmer GS5? Shouldn’t that keep him at least occupied long enough for his stealth to run out?
Except GS5, and focus 2, are skills that only mesmers have; moreover, the mobility a thief has, is enough alone to let him escape at will.
Stealth is just a plus to avoid any chance to single target CC.
In www thief is lowest skill floor in game for that, and this is the reason why you can kill many, since it attracts many unexperienced players that juct commit too many mistakes.
And you really have to commit many to actually die (Example: nobody forces you to eat GS5 while in SR since thief is also master of evasions).
Another option is to run fast, that’s why elementalist D/D is preferred too.
Urban Legend.
Ele mobility get nerfed every patch.
1) rtl CD hit for more than 200% increase
2) LF losing breakstun needed another breakstun slotted
3) removal of boon duration runes took away most our swiftness uptime
4) change to FGS (that is not even that good).
Infact as many players confirmed you don t see that many DD ele in WWW.
The problem is that too many still believe PvP = WWW :|
Mobility and stealth in PvP are less problematic due to the capture point, small maps and no capture during stealth that is what is breaking balance in amode where there are not such balancing factors.
There is an actual glitch.
Happens even in PvE
You are stealthed (you have the icon) but perfectly visible…but mobs doesn t seems to see you.
Its not only Mesmer’s stealth… even environmental stealth and shadow refuge stealth from what i seen
Dungeons: highest theoretical dps… forced into evading and die to a sneeze.
Also the DPS needs time to setup in some builds.
without support of a proper speedteam is not the best class as people says..its good but arguable fighting for 3rd or 4th place.
Fractals: indeed the top dps profession and the most reliable too.
WWW solo roaming: unless you play fresh air, you will have problems keeping in fight many professions in fighting range.
(if you play fresh air you are a loot bag for rangers and thieves and maybe Others…)
Totally unplayable with lag that is the norm lately on peak hours.
WWW Group roaming: decent…as any profession.
WWW zerg: its often requested as waterbot (basically you are a pet casting water field and CC for the zerg)…..
Can be played with a certain degree of dps, but once again lag makes it unplayable since you have to anticipate everything.
If a player plays with rotation it becomes as predictable as a PvE mob.
If you are good enough you play mindgames….thus a stealth profession is unreactable by definition.
Example of easy mindgame: you use stealth and instead of fleeing in the opposite direction you go in another….
This is the classic example of mechanic with 0 counterplay.
Said that the problem of excessive mobility AND ability to disengage AND reengage at will of 2 professions is something should be dealt with since a year.
P.S: warrior is as bad…..its almost invulnerable to CC and has best mobility in game….you don t even need mindgames since nothing can keep you in fight with a warrior if he wants to flee.
And people even forgets the agony slots …
As i said prepatch i remember iaiah Cartwright wanting to nerf FGS mobility.
He said ele is not supposed to be mobile since mobility is a tradeoff (tradeoff of what exactly? but if we look at how warrior weakness to condition is actually one of its many srtengths we can get an idea).
And i expected this completely illogical nerf to come this patch.
Since devs doesn t read this section you might want to answer warriors player that said that is fair because its a conjured….

I don t want to say its the main cause but nowaday fotm 40-50 lfg are deserts as they have never been (except during the cliffside bug).
You know you can build a siege where nobody can hit it and hit any caster you want?
You can also use a ranger or warrior and hit at 1500.
Or you can go to kill the caster stuck in his channelling for 4 seconds.
Or you can ask to remove profession from the game because you can t defend a keep alone against a Greater attacking force.
If you don t get it:
Warrior GS3-5 Is affected by BOTH cripple/chill etc AND swiftness
So was FGS
The patch made so that:
FGS is affected by chill/cripple etc but NOT by swiftness
Also reduced FGS3 speed and FGS4 range.
Where is the balance in that?
And we already got RTL and LF nerfed already.
P.S. sw2 doesn t have mobility? i have a warrior too… please.

Add a 4skinsX1Box recipe in forge
Optional: Add a skin with black particle effect instead of the White for collection completion. (should not require much work).
Et voila you have an average 1 box per 20 runs at max level.
Obviously it would take way more on a level 20……
(30 if you are extrenely unlucky)
But i just have to tell you currently you have better chances at 3X than 4X, despite was already found a bug and already “fixed”.
If something easy as that doesn t get fixed why should something more difficult?
I already crafted all armors i needed (3 light sets crafted 1 backpack and 2 heavy) spending insane amounts of gold.
Yet i approve this and i can t really understand how a game like GW2 is so slow to address problems like this that were already “monitored” and “recognized” many months ago.
Not to mention players anticipated this situation the same patch day.
If you fear players will be angry you can give a small gift (few gems or BL Keys or the mini llama or anything) of any sort to players who spent so much….

Well i wrote that silk have been subject to insider trading but the message was deleted.
Since was written officially on patchnotes, clearly proved by players that noticed a huge supply drain before silk changes were announced and even John Smith confirmed, i think its an information Worth mentioning.

Description: In www primetime the game gets something like 1-2 seconds of latence poorly masked IN every part of the game openPvE dungeons and WWW
That means:
-skills/attunements change responds later
-you get hit even at half evasion, and you get hit before seeing the actual attack.
-rubberbanding: if you use a mobility skills you get teleported back and then forth.
-Party chat arrives even minutes later while local chat works (like during Karka and MAD KING in november 2012)
-frequent Dc of various players even in dungeons/fractals.
-Freuent freezes where every player in a dungeon freezes for 2-3 seconds (the local player can move but obviously is not considered by server).
Its clearly server side overload…

Reading the OP, it seems Anet is not willing to spend the effort/money on GMs (which would easily solve the problem overnight). Yet they are currently doing exactly this for catching dungeon exploiters.
Its not as hard as for dungeon.
A siege troll receives a huge amount of report (but we lack a reporting option).
So in this case GM are not needed, they can just check logs whenever they have the time.
Only work would maybe be some sort of search engine to extract data from log, and its still less than implementing anything.
Also can be reused for many other exploits.
Eh… Warriors don’t have a line-charge on their GS?
What does one have to do with the other? They did nerf all such abilities, compare Norn Bear/Wolf form. Mind you against players damage should have gone up on the FGS if anything since the final strike hits hard and slightly more reliably.

Nothing is written in patch about what they did to MOBILITY of said skills.

The fact that supposed WWW warriors weakness (condi removal) is exactly one of their better strenghts tells a lot about WWW balance.
They even added some because….you know if they went afk they risked to lose a fight.
Or they could simply release that “stat change scroll” that was datamined time ago.
Since they go quite heavy on nerfs, their Patches risks to void months of grind.
And that would be an Assurance.
So FGS mobility skills are now affected by mobility imparing condition but NOT by swiftness.
While warrior GS3-5 and sw2 were untouched.
Can we get an eta on a proper nerf on warrior skills since are exactly the same (but better)?
The fact that i remember who wanted to nerf FGS mobility and even worse: when, makes me really lose any hope for any balance in the future…

I used it for DD roaming and even in some PvE sitations (fractal mostly since they are immune to agony).
They are just better for some stacking in PvE because you cast Ice ele skill and you don t really care when it procs….but then you notice it goes 1200+ aggroing stuff around even without the target -.-
In PVE is better to not use any elite in most cases.
Devildoc i do without any perk, something like 5-6000 to guards.
I do half of it to players (even thieves).
Not to mention the current state of Retaliation.
PvE mobs are squishy
and have twice the health pool at least.

Streaks, droughts, and long leads are features of a random sequence. That’s a mathematical fact. MMO players see streaks and droughts in a random results and decide that the RNG is broken. That’s human nature.

And Ele isn’t awful after patch. We still have really good DPS for PvE/Dungeons^^
Just FGS got aweful.
Elemental is the summoned guy not the profession.
And is worse than prepatch in every aspect.
I used them effectively (situationally ofcourse) prepatch expecially in high level fractals.
I m using the hounds of balthazar after patch nuff said :|
You might thank players keeping tracks for:
-BLSK refund twice
-Ecto fixes
-Fractal rewards bug reports
for posting against people stating its all in our mind
Was said they don t want PvP and rest of the game having a gap.
That was indeed the clearest example of damage control since if it was what they wanted they would balance around PvE or WWW.
Also the real reason was stated more than once.
And its the fact splitting skills costs work.
That is the only honest statement about it.
If you look at GW2 outside PvP you find one of the most unbalanced games in mmorpg history.
