People will hate me for that but I found Dark soul combat to be worse than GW2. GW2 is fast paced, Dark soul was just very slow skill, with very long aftercast. I reached end game quiet easily, I did play a warrior though.
GW2 does have an AI, better than most game. Just look at the aggro system in GW2. The mob/boss look for people with low HP, proximity, people res’ing, high toughness, class. People think it’s random but it isn’t.
Simple example, Fighting archdiviner, one tactic is to slowly walk backward when you have aggro, while your team hit him in the back, however, if the person walking backward dodge back, he gets out of range, then archdiviner will turn around and hit everyone behind.
I’m not saying it’s perfect, but I’m telling you, 99% of the players still think it’s random aggro. Also as many people say, boss don’t have a skill rotation, they have cooldowns. If you know how long the cooldown is you can predict when he will use it again. (he might not use it right away) Also mob stop moving when they are about to use a skill, so you can see it coming even before he start it.
The opinion you have on darksouls gameplay is acceptable.
Afetr all GW2 has a good gameplay. (but i say i love the low paced fights with adequate reactiion Windows).
But i think nobody can agree with you on AI.
The aggro system alone is one of the worse mistakes in the game, its elementary, undocumented and too random to be included in actual tactics.
Only thing you can do with the aggro system (imho the worst ever seen in a game) is as usual exploit it.
And its also one of the causes of stacking.
Try Killing something that runs stupidly around or even worse toward the Damage dealer without any counterplay ASIDE stacking.
P.S: i know how aggro system works that is why nobody can have full control on it.
(ex ressing gets the most aggro, for every boss; dps gets aggro on some, thoughness on Others and so on).
I would ask how do you call a system where despite gold production gets nerfed, prices of useful/sought after things keep steadily rising, while money value and rewards plummets.
Also, you’re the one suggesting to make things easier. I agree that some instability-area combos can be pretty OP, but save for a few instances, there’s nothing that some teamwork and cooperation can’t solve.
No i am suggesting that “since anet seems not to be able to imrpove fractals” they should simple revert the system at when fractals were popular and rewards more balanced.

You are not talking about a mere skin.
You are talking about the only PvE rare skins in the game not related to trading post.
Also related to a community that kept playing fractal unde the worse circumstances and often treated in the worse possible way by the developers:
-The most Game breaking bugs og GW2 leading to voiding hours of play.
-horribly unbalanced fractals takingmore than 1 hours alone
-the worse reward in game (we got to a point cutting a single tree gave more reward than a fractal run)
-most expensive content to play
-sacrificing stats to play a content
-rewards needing gemshop items to be claimed (in the past fractal weapons were statless weapon you have to trasmute)
-and the reset of personal level
You might understand why many people would be very upset if they make fotm skins easy to get.
RNG is fine (not really, just double % at max level).

I would also argue that a common thing you hear in this game (in the game itself not in the forum) is you win GW2 by playing the TP.
And TP flipping is seen as the only way to get access to BiS items and shinies.
I hope you don t really ignore or don t think a more than noticeable part of GW2 (most veteran non flipping the TP actually) players perceive economy as OK, because it would just mean you are denying the obvious.
Just send a GM (without the anet tag possibly) to discuss economy with any WWW or Dungeon/fractal player with a reasonable amount of achievement points.
Then do the same with new players (not newbies, but someone that has a lvl 80 character and face the problems of gearing up).
I could see before 80 everything seems great.

Legendary weapons are expensive because they are granted to be the BiS tier forever.

Since legendary are almost the most common between expensive skins, they are not much sought after for that.
people who dies horribly simply don t understand how limited the AI is.
Someday someomne will explain them, and at that point ANY dungeon will be boring unless they work on AI.
And wiping at first boss encounter is wrong.
If you are skilled you deserve to have a chance, rather than basing each fight on memory and fail and repeat that was already considered the number one mistake in game design many years ago.
For some reason i can t explain myself, before demon soul, this kind of gameplay was considered extremely wrong by every review.
That because impacts heavily longevity and adds unnecessary frustration.
A game should be based on reaction Windows and tactics and not to learn attack patterns and rotations.
P.S. note that demon souls is an extremely misunderstood series…was just a budget next gen port of an old game, that was mistaken for innovative while it was just the standard of 10 years before.

If you play a guardian, a warrior or a thief you already have cheaper equipment so you can afford less drops btw.
Zojja’s Warfists costs ~60 gold to make (according to GW2Spidy) and Zojja’s Wristguards cost ~66 gold to make. I don’t see why the 6 gold difference means that we should make the people who are trying to make Zojja’s Warfists harder.
If you read dev posts is less likely light professions will drop 10% more silk.
Also a light armor costs 30% more at leasts (iit often used to costs 50% more) than a heavy or medium.
That without even considering the timegates..
Last time i was crafting armors a heavy costed 340G VS a light costing 600+.

What is Wrong is how anet created artificial silk lack of supply while Always pretending to have a player driven economy.
That is arbitrarily changing the costs of playing a professions and thus creating many unbalance in the game.
If they change accordingly mithril and leather and adjust insigna and general recipes to not use damask as base component you won t be complaining about light dropping slightly more.
They did the worse mistake in anet economy and that was also paired with insider trading with people stocking silk before the announcement due to leaked informations (even a dev posted it).
@gobax: the discrimination was against light professions when they changed silk recipe.
The point is:
How many hours will take for a light profession to earn more than they spend on their equip comparing on a heavy or medium profession?
I guess so many thousands, that in the ends light is still the loser side (what if they change balance and you have to get another armor? happened 2 times already).

No, there aren’t. There’s absolutely no evidence of this at all. Luck always appears to hit us in streaks, because we’re human and we see patterns every where.

People proved RNG or droprates or whatever are wrong too many times.
When something like lightning hitting the same tree twice is considered almost impossible, and we have lightning stricking 10 times the same spot usually, we can suspect something is not working correctly.
Seems most times players started to gather actual data, it proved something was wrong and was “fixed” (sometimes bugged more).
List of evidences:
-Ecto droprates (Anet officially admitted the mistake)
-BLK salvaging (anet admitted it AND gave back BLK twice)
-Fractals (proved at least 4 times, only 2 were admitted and fixed but instead were bugged more).
And many more.
Each times, we had threads in forums and we had many posters saying to shut up and stop with the Conspiracy theories.
P.S: In this games Lucky/unlucky streaks are the norm not the exception if you just note your chances and results you can see for yourself, avoiding any bias.

The most common mistake while considering stt differences are:
-Ignoring basic stats (they were even removed from the UI lately but weapon have base attack that changes with tiers).
-Ignoring the fact ascended have that little slot, in wich you can put stat boosts.
That means you can have 60 more stat points just with infusions plus everything else.
It makes some noticeable difference actually.
And for once having a non GEM related solution would be nice before we pay gems even for WPs (we can play anyway just walking between WP don’t we? WP are a commodity)
If you count fighting a boss with FGS as an exploit, I will use the same languge for skipping the boss and running past them as a exploit.
FGS require you to CC the boss into a specific spot, position every party member to stand in the right position, and dodge instant kill aoe with minimal reaction time. Stealth on other hand just require using the key W and sometimes the jump button.
In the early days, many dungeons was updated to include doors in order to… you can guess… prevent players to use stealth in order to skipp content. Stealth + running, as with stacking, was not the intended within the design of dungeons.
Thus exploit. We could call it creative tactics if we want to use kinder language.
The “exploit” is LoSing bosses.
Would be an exploit at least if most bosses had any AI, but since all they do is running into players and using timed Attacks, it can t be called AI at all.
But the point is FGS at this point is as exploiting as a discipline banner or any AoE support are.
Yet i don t really care…once they nerf also LH anet will be forced to actually look at elementalist in PvE.
Tornado nerf is just a mistake, FGS is meh.
PvE is still broken.

There is an issue with stats tied to grindy equipment:
Lets for example thing i am enojying my celestial character…..
A “feature patch” arrives and suddenly my hard earned equipment becomes useless for my build.
Repeat every X months.
In the past a stats Exchange scroll was datamined, we would really need some of those :|
And they should give free stats change after every “feature patch”
(aka nerf patch).
What caused the changes were PvP players Killing sieges in PVP With FGS and using meteornado on points.
I cant remember i’ve ever seen meteornado in team queue, so NOPE.
I guess you saw necrobombs and some meteornado staff players.
Works with PvT/celestial also.
And you speak as if the balance team only nerf overeffective skills.
What i really hate is they nerf skills continually trying to balance with traits….
While doing the opposite would lead to build diversity.

Issue is:
PvP => meh the changes may be a buff
WWW roaming => see above
WWW zerg => staff ele will now have 0 elites… an elemental would face the same fate as a phantasm.
PvE => Huge nerf. Despite FGS was indeed OP, could have used a lesser nerf, like spawning just 1 just to give some reward to use a risky profession.
Even PvE players have 0 elites now
What makes me extremely sad and angry towards the balance team:

Fractal 50-30 and many dungeons.
Pug are reasonably good.
And the best part is, unless you are an elitist bound to the youtube run video, you discover interesting stuff, that makes run even faster than the meta.
Another interesting thing is that having to adapt to non meta parties and different experiences level it makes you a better player.
You learn to use everything your professions can offer, but more important, playing dungeons becomes less boring
I had once a friend Group and running dungeon was Always the same.
P.S: expecially in fractal i suggest to pug a lot. Its fun.
But avoid pugging on the weekend…too many beginners that act elitistd
Also requiring minimum AP is not that wrong.
Ensure you are playing the game since at least some months, with higher chance you know basics.

Well as it is now i don t think what we have can be even called AI.
If it uses timed patterns even if they changes its not AI at all.
At this point PvE cannot be balanced for anyone that did the same thing more than once.
Mobiliy Or stealth are the first requirements to be effective roamers.
War GS mobbility is untouched.
It even had a buff in the burst.
The loss of adrenaline ooc for a roamer doesn t mean much since you Always run a lot before finding decent fights..
Still immortal as the thief.
Mesmer will be stronger, but still have a counter.
Condition DD ele (even if useless in most other matchups) will maybe get better with the new fire trait. but i doubt it.
I m tempted to try a 66002 DD cele/soldier/zerk ele with both the revamped traits.
But i already will be extremely situational.
As a d/d ele we only use elemental elite to help solo camps 10 -15 seconds faster. Or FGS to spaz out in a zerg to kill steal from allies. In most direct fights as a D/D ele, 20 v 20 you can dance away unhurt while plowing frontline, mid and stun breaking to safety. I played ele since alpha this nerf does nothing spvp or wvw wise. Guardians at best 1v1 can almost never beat a d/d ele in wvw. In spvp based on mechanics and yes due to armor limitations 33% win rate. You better role warrior if you want an easier win, but then again you’ll notice the same limitations in that profession as you fight better players or servers.
Are you telling you don t use elemental or grenth with DD?
If so you are giving up a lot of potential.
Also maybe is true a guardian can’t beat an ele in 1vs1.
Its almost true that they will ignore and outrun you in WWW (yes even guardians can).
And if you find some guard roaming WWW builds you change your mind.
I playe also Ele since release and i don t agree with anything you say.
The differences between WWW and PvP that makes some strong builds in one weak in the other, have been discussed quite a lot lately and seemed people started to understand….
Starting from a 30% (or more) stat increase making burst professions stronger, to the different win conditions, and the need to kill fast….
I must admit, by the way, i don t consider GvG or Dueling, part of WWW since they have rules decided by players that are not part of the gamemode itself.
If you browse PvP section you might find few really nice posts about it.

I dodge lupi kicks with 400- 600ms+ ping from Australia. The trick is to know when the next one is and dodge well before he even performs the kick.
If its timed like coe champion ice-wolf attack that measn that PvE is really worse than i believed.
If i read correctly on reddit they finally hired someone to work on the AI.
I don’t think you are supposed to play everything by memory or luck (its not prediction because the lack of mindgames).
Also timed Attacks can’t be called AI, and that would mean this game has no AI at all.
P.S. but yet i m more inclined to think you misread your latence because 4-600 milliseconds is way worse than unpleasant.
If people more than 10 years ago refused to play with 1/3 of that i can’t believe today its acceptable by anyone.
I still think the only recipe we need is 4 skins for 1 box.
And doubling the droprate.
Would still make skins rare but reasonably obtainable (and easier to get than they ever have been).
The best part is you have to actually sacrifice something to get what you want rather than throwing useless stuff anyone can stockpile at low levels.

That’s cute, my average latency from Argentina is 500-800… with 1.5K ms spikes but it’s still easy since the whole game can be learned like playing Simon.
Dungeons need much more improvisation
Frankly with a latency of 200+ you can’t really be effective in many dungeons.
Can you avoid the lupi kick for example?
Don’t think so.
If you are effective in any part of the game, that means just the game is not skillbased and instead is build or rotations based or something like that.
(yet you have to struggle way more than your opponent).
The only way to get some challenge is playing fractal.
They are not hard per se, but if you play with pugs you have to adapt fast and know lot of different strategies.
Well what about balancing silk that already got out of hand since months?
was even told a dev would monitor silk and act accordingly.
Yet silk costs more than gossamer.
Maybe the issue is how they took a T5 mat wothing nothing AS OTHER T5 and decided it should became the most expensive just multiplying the amount required in recipes.

No, really, the FGS nerf whine is way too much atm. In PvE, I don’t see how anyone could argue that FGS trivialized nearly every fight ever, .
Almost every experienced pve player knows that uis not FGS to trivialize every fight.
Its the stupid AI.
Before FGS dungeons were as easy as today.
I don t really care for FGS (except the fact we were given nothing in return).
If it was for me iwould delete conjured weapons and give elementalist a decent mechanic that is not a lazy copy of other professions.
I’m far more concerbned about fire dagger 2 and staff 4 that were counterplay against some OP www stuff.
Best pve profession is not subjective.

Few stuff people saying this game is easy should keep in mind.
Before you say dungeons are easy consider 4 factors:
1) The toll PvP capture point balance took on PVE..
For example, playing arah with a meta elementalist in a normal speedrun (no time to change for skips/challenging parts) is not as easy.
Almost anyone instead can do the same on a warrior even if extremely unexperienced.
(i have both)
2) Tactics
Most of them lets you bypass most mechanics or there is someone that is making your life easier.
If you have problems with pugs there may be the chance content is not easy as you believe, while inetead some tactics (unintended but legit) makes it so.
3) Design:
Most dungeons are extremely hard the first time you play those.
You have no tells on how hard an attack will be and also where it will hit, and most things will just kill you too fast.
The second time you play them they are boringly easy.
That is because all you have to do is to memorize.
The game is not much different from an old game called dragon s lair, for gameplay.
You can really play the game by rotatiotns with monitor shut down in many cases.
We have even some mobs that use skills every X seconds….
The AI and gameplay can t be compared to the standard of current games, luckily every mmorpg is often lacking in the same area.
Its quantity over quality.
That is why most people can’t play a dungeon until DNT post an updated video.
4 LATENCE:
Geographical position, or being near a node and many other things can make the different between a really small reaction window and having plenty times to avoid the oneshot Attacks.
That means some players have it easier.
(this is sadly true even for PvP)

While for an online game is quite common to have such difference between players.
The game was told to have this in mind while being developed, but i believe only an extremeley easy game can be really be lag forgiving.

And nothey didn t say they will fix it (there is the swiftness stacking bug also to fix) but i m still fearing iwarden fix since i remember what happened last 2 times they fixed it.

First:
tornado is an exploit as much is stacking might or using an aura to get fury while channeling a skill.
Or again using LF during a channel.
If that is an exploit, using an ele is a major exploit because its what you do with lot of skill traits costantly (ex during a channell you switch to a +10% traited attunement).
Second:
Tornado doesn t have a role in roaming.
Third:
Thank to a boring game where sitting in a circle is the meaning of everything, we got our game ruined every patch more by balancing team that sees capture point as the meaning of everything in this world.
So we actually get extremely overpowered builds being untouched or even buffed, and struggling professions being nerfed because they are good at PvP.
The thief is the best example.
As you might read in PVP subforum, most successfull WWW thief roamers were totally uneffectuve in PvP.
That mostly because thief in WWW has lowest skill floor in game whereas in PvP is said to be challenging to use.
The difference in stats + food alone have a huge role.
PvP fights are way slower with way less damage, conditions and crowd control involved.
I would like for example to know why revealed debuff is shorter in WWW…
I still can’t figure out.
4) roaming is a better skill indicator than GvG.
Unfortunately 90% fights are unbalanced for numbers or even skills.
Most roamers are bad and only go for easy targets or try to troll.
Few times i had nice fights in ruins when servers still thought they were important.

Devs doesn t listen to the forum
Unfortunately they ONLY care for capture point (and they aren’t even good at that).
Until PvE and WWW players will just make clear that they grew tired of this capture point centered balance that outrageously ignores 99% players (www+pve) we will have this unreasnable pointless balance.
real thing:
in WWW any dps build will become too much risk/ almost no reward.
Also the FGS nerf…
Despite i don t care about fgs, fire 4 and 2 on staff and dagger was the onlyh counterplay to the OP immob stacking of certain professions.
That means trait WATER or die…less build diversity GG anet.
That because this game only god is capture point. and everything else could just be removed from the game according to balance team.

P.S. meteornado is NOT an exploit more than is using a normal DD rotation or Lightning flash to hit with dagger earth 4 or 5 or again using an aura during churning channeling to get fury, or switching attunement to boost dps.
If you think it is yoy should play elementalist more because its how ele rotations works.
P.P.S: after patch a glass ele will be uncapable of Killing anything while will be a rallybot even with the best skillfull play….
If you will hit other glass for 6000 but will lack any defense to stand a mesmer GS 1200 attack or Ranger attack or thief stealth attack is just total lack of balance.
But obviously who cares…its www!
If you don t understand they don t care about it yet you haven t got enough pointless PvP centered nerfs

I think they just should delete fractured.
Consider i got 95% skins before fractured and 5% after.
So before fractured an avid fractal player could reasonably get fractal skins at a decent rate (sloghtly less than 4X current droprate at max level).
Mind that it was also more difficult, and less rewarding.
We got to a point when cutting a tree gave more reward than a top level fractal run.
What is really wrong is how skins drops way more at lower levels today.
But i’m all against giving free skins.
Its still almost the only non tp related rare skin outside the gemstore.
The rng is fine, the post fractured droprate is not.
And a siggestion… don t run 49-50 if you want a skin..it simply won’t drop.
I did so many daily that i can confirm the drop table posted few months ago, aside the fact for me 49-50 gave totally 0 skins against 3-4 at lower tiers.

@LordByron: “Nobody” is an overstatement. I, for one, salvage everything I get nowadays from my daily world-boss hunts. Anet know players do this, hence the salvage-o-matics.

Mystic salvage kits for 250 will save enough time to make it pointless even for people that drops tons of golds.
Unless you salvage masterworks with a gold kit, its useless.
And considering how some T5 > T6 (silk or T4>T5) its even less likely.
A couple things:
Celestial is horrible in any part of the game where you use crafted stuff.
(see WWW and PvE).
Wupwup (celestial ascended) drops like candies in fractals of the mists. (for some reasons 90% meta stuff drops from raider chests so almost any chest you drop will only have wupwup as viable stat).
Also for some reasons you drop better at lower levels (20-30 that are quite easy) and you get awful drops at higher (49-50 -.-).
Supply crate is strong in small scale figths.
Nothing more to add.
Tornado without meteor is worse than mortar for WWW.
Conjure fiery GS for WWW:
You can choose between many usable racial elites that push your damage.
Or you can equip an elite to flee (considering the cast time you even need to start fleeing quite fast) once in 3 minutes :|
It doesn t work to jump in and out of battle at will its only to flee once and for all.
And donest solve the problem of staing in fight range with your opponents because locking you out of your skills makes it useless for that.
We will be left with a situational 1VS1 elite.
And a HUGE damage nerf in zergs.
Along that we will receive other really nice nerfs at dagger fire 2/staff fire 4, and vaporform that is already bugged btw.
But as i said before after 2 yuears we can have an idea on anet competence about balancing i believe.
Even beginners can see huge mistakes they do every patch, yet they go on ignoring warning from the playerbase and then try damage control with CDI that won t change anything
The issue is they are infact boonsmithering 2 elites (no even lightning rod won t make it viable) without any compensation.
Just give us an elite to recharge a single skill 5 every 3 minutes with 1 sec cast at least.

I should ve included those because its the norm in WWW to have both.EXPECIALLY on thieves and warriors.
So 2840 power.
500 power more than PvP
20% crit damage more than PvP
8% more crit chancei could also add how easier is in www build adrenaline and initiative.
And possibly i even forget the fact that could be a further discrepancy between weapon power in pvp and www since ascended release.
i was refering “those stats in wvw with the wvw buff” as in it would melt the target
and waste all it defenses in a few blows, yeah ive noticed thiefs that cant spam bursts 5-6 seconds not shure to busy to get near them, if played well it can kite almost everything.
A thief can burst in 1-2 seconds a balanced light target.
That is dangerously near to reaction time itself of an online game (and its way under reaction time for a surprise attack… something a stealth profession should not have).
Add the fact you can t recover at all if that damage is SUSTAINED (i can say with most profession if you are hit ONCE by a thief with its opener you already lost the fight because a second skill would kill you and to recover you have to cast skills…while he keeps attacking… consider how damage>healing and you see why).
And if you strongly outplay your target, there is 0 reward since he will just flee
Thieves doesn t kite in WWW, they have spammable stealth and the best panic button in game (teleport+cond cleanse+break stun) and that is enough.
Thief is considered high skill floor in PvP and newbye skill floor in WWW for a reason (if you are in a guild you almost cenrtainly know a good numbers of beginners being effective in www with thief and horrible with any other profession and in any other part of the game).
If you play www roaming and then try PvP, the latter will seem extreely slow compared to the first when most fights ends in seconds. (with the exception of warriors and thieves with few defensive pieces that can troll entire ZERGS).

If they want to promote ele build diversity they need:
-to strongly BUFF ele skills (expecially reducing cooldowns)
-to NERF traits accordingly
