So a lot of people have been bringing up back gears recently. We have them in game, but they aren’t visible. Every single thread that mentions them though results in “can we get a cape! I want a cape! capes are cool right?!”
Now, I don’t know about you guys – but I played WoW for years, and the only back armor offered was, capes. Capes everywhere. You’re level 3 and look like a hobo? Here have a cape! Now you’re super-hobo! Your armor looks like crap? Fly away crappy-man, and save the crap people of crapsburg from the acrapalypse!
It’s almost as if all the creativity in peoples minds has been drained, and they no longer have the capacity of imagining something being worn on the back that isn’t a piece of cloth designed to make them pseudo supermans.
So here’s the request; please implement visible back armors. They look cool, and can help complete a look that seems to be missing something.
HOWEVER.
HOWEVER…
HOWEVER!!!
DO NOT BY ANY MEANS RESTRICT IT TO CAPES. Dear kitty-cat enough with the kittened capes!
1. Back shields
2. Back plates
3. Wings
4. Scarves (long scarves like protoman or ninja gaiden)
5. Jetpacks
6. Weapon pouches
7. QUIVERS!
8. Backpacks (like engi’s have)
These are just some of what could be endless possibilities for immersion-deepening, character-customizing, creative, meaningful, ORIGINAL – ideas for visible back pieces.
Capes aren’t that cool, even with a guild logo on them!

Why do I have the feeling this is a pro-yiffer thread……
“I’m not sure why it’s not a higher priority then, it would help even out populations across the maps, as people could see where they are needed most and queue accordingly.”
C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
Seriously dude, you just hit the nail on the head with this one. That even made me think twice. I totally agree though.
Just thought of this; I need a UI widget that shows me turret health. I want to be able to know when to detonate my turret if it’s about to die without having to look around and find it in a pack of people so I can check its HP.
I like grenade kit, but the projectiles move too slow for me to make use of in wuvwuv.
I do think they need to do some buffs/reworking of the flamethrower though – it’s pretty kitteny, misses everything, and has an ill-designed kit. Also, the toolbelt skill is only really useful if you’re not currently using the flamethrower itself.
That being said, I run my engi as a turret build now with a rifle, pretty effective barring the cooldowns while moving…
Charr are natural warriors. Blood Legion is full of charr warriors. They have meanbutt lookin armor to boot.
HOWEVER!
How a charr wields a greatsword is a shameful sight. I almost rolled a charr warrior/guardian, but after seeing their Tom & Jerry mallet-whacking greatsword animations… I couldn’t do it. It’s just so awful looking. These are the main antagonists of the humans for centuries!?
Please, for all that charr hold honorable, give them a bit of dignity when wielding 2handers. It’s just plain shameful.
Punny can you link a preview window/character window ss of your engi? It’s hard to see details in that lighting.
I roled an Asura engineer first, but because my main was an asura (thief) I didn’t want an account full of asura :T I re-rolled as a Charr, which I got to lvl 17 before finding out they don’t look very good in most armors. That being said, I considered rolling an asura engi again, but already had made an asura elem… I don’t want this to be like WoW where I have 5 of one race because I don’t like the others!
As an aside, I wanted to roll a Charr warr, but the way they fight with 2 handers looks kittarded. It’s like Tom & Jerry mallet-whacking… for shame.
I know there are situations where I’d want 3 overcharged rifle turrets over 3 overcharged rocket turrets, or 3 net turrets above all else. HELL 3 thumper turrets could be quite the beast in ambush-style events.
I don’t like flame turret, there’s something wrong with it… not sure what though.
Firstly, as mentioned in this thread – we need a way to focus our turrets on something we want them to hit. Mine get hung up hitting stupid crap like centaur weapon racks when I’m under fire from 2-3 centaurs. We really just need the turrets to auto-focus on whatever it is we’re attacking.
A few other changes that would be nice to see though…
1. Deployable turrets should be a default mechanic of turrets – OR, should give us another benefit besides just the ground target; like +10% damage or +30% armor
2. Turret billeting. For every turret we have on our utility slot bar (excluding healing turret of course) give us the ability to have multiples of the same turret (to a max turret deployment of utility slots used by turrets). So if I have rifle/rocket/thumper turrets on my bar, I can have 3 total turrets out (excluding supply crates), and I can have them all be rifle, or all be rocket, or all be flame/thumper/net, whatever.
3. Thumper turret toolbelt skill needs a reduced cooldown. It’s wimpy damage, with a blast finisher, on a 90 second cooldown. It’s a bit ridiculous – and doesn’t match up to the utility of flame/rifle/rocket/net.
4. Mortar (I’ve said this numerous times) needs to have a range of 2000+. It’s worthless at 1400, and doesn’t even take bonus from the increased turret range trait. Even when that /was/ working, it was only 1500 which is the same as a grenade. I can’t shoot a mortar farther than I can throw a grenade, kitten?
5. Supply crate turrets need to be able to be picked up. I don’t like leaving turrets behind, especially when they keep aggro’ing stuff I don’t want to get in a fight with.
6. Now this would just be super sweet. MOBILE TURRETS. This could be a grandmaster trait somewhere, but basically make it so that our turrets will slowly follow us as we move around (like maybe 60% of our movement speed). This way we don’t have to always pick them up, wait for cooldown, and then redeploy. Put them on treads or something. This would mainly be a PvE trait of course though.
Thanks for reading!

I don’t like getting rid of deployable turrets trait, unless they make that a default as well.
I do think we need to be able to tell our turrets what to attack, a lot of times mine gets stuck on hitting inanimate objects like centaur weapon racks.
Engineer pistols Q-skill needs to be more like Thief pistol Q-skill
in Engineer
Posted by: LoreChief.8391
I wish they would fix the pistol animations. I have two guns, but I only fire out of one – for every skill, ever. Looks totally kittarded.
Before I commit to leveling any character, I take them to the Mists and try on all the different armor sets – and do a mix/match of different set pieces to figure out if I’ll think the character looks cool or not. I’ve recently done this and selected a female norn engineer after coming up with this armor combination.
I personally would hate to see the Hylek introduced as a race. They are bland, unintelligent, and not be-fitting of any role other than generic warrior and possibly guardian. They would look absolutely kittarded in robes without a substantial model re-work (which isn’t unheard of, of course). Mostly though, they don’t have any depth as a race.
As far as what Ari’s saying about pact-originating soldier class, I think the dragoon would certainly fit that role. What better way to introduce multiple professions at the same time (certainly would be an industry first and a win/win for content and playstyle!) than to introduce an entirely new order that would introduce a few anti-dragon archetypes.
However, I love the idea of a range-centric soldier – even moreso when you try to add golemancy to it. When I read the Destiny’s Edge novel, I couldn’t help but feel that the game would severely benefit from having a golem-piloting class. You could cover both range and melee roles by having different customizable suits. The other alternative is to re-tool the traitlines for warrior so that they have a versatile, and viable ranged alternative (currently they are just; oh hey look I can kite too.. sort of).
Oh, and on the point of katana’s – it was really something I brought up BECAUSE they would need to be usable by other professions, like warrior, ranger and possibly thief or elementalist (just because elem needs more weapons!).
I’m not familiar with any of the telling-dialogues from Kodan, but everytime I talk to a Tengu I hear “wait and see” or “we’re testing you” or “we’re waiting to see if you’re worthy of us to join”. It seems like a sure thing that we’ll be playing with Tengu next xpac. On a side note, the Kodan are a lot like the norn (even the lore matches up) – and it would be rather samey to add yet another large race on top of already having Charr and Norn.
I think if you go with the antithesis of a guardian, you begin looking more into things like deathknight to paladin that WoW did. I don’t think I agree with that being what a Dragoon is.. since Dragoon was (from my understanding) anti-dragon. I think we’re on the same page with regards to land-spear varieties, which is why I was suggesting the lance. It’s different enough that people wouldn’t be trying to use spears on land, but not so different that it negates the basic premise of the fighting style associated with its use.
In that regard, I think Paragon and Dragoon would be redundant, so either combine the concepts of both into one, or just stick with one over the other. Throwing spears though, which is a Paragon-esque tactic, is what Guardians do underwater when they use a spear.
That’s good input on the comparison between ritualist and engineer, we don’t need another stationary turret-fighter. The engi definitely needs a lot of work though I feel.
Another important concept I think is that if the new profession comes with a new weapon, that other professions should be able to use it as well. If not, we get into this “well I got this weapon thats only usable by one profession…” which might get old for some folks. As it is now, there isn’t a weapon exclusively used by a single prof. Lances, for instance – I could see being used by a ranger as well as a dragoon/paragon.
As an aside, if Samurai was the new class, there would have to be a weapon added for them – as a greatsword is far from a blade. However, warrior or ranger seem to be the catchall for weapon-types, ensuring that other professions would be able to use them.
Back to dragoon for a moment. A lot of people have been complaining about the lack of mounts – what if we took this from a Ragnarok Online perspective, and put a ‘mount’ as a class mechanic of a specific profession – such as Dragoon. I don’t know what they’d ride (also keeping Tengu in mind here) – but it’s a thought (perhaps different races have different mounts).
I never played GW1, but after reading over the wiki – it would appear that they merged monks into the guardian profession, and assassin into the thief profession. Ritualists, Dervish’s and Paragon’s appear to be still viable options though.
However, with the likelihood of Tengu being a playable race in the next expansion, there will surely be some connection between them and any new professions. That being said, are there any professions you can see (either existing or brand new) that could likely be a possibility based on what we know about the tengu, their geographic region (DoW OR Cantha)?
I’ll go first. I’m thinking in order to level out the armor-playing field, and make it 3/3/3, we could see a heavy armor wearing class. Dragoon, Samurai, and possibly Paragon would make for good candidates. Dragoon obviously has implications as a dragon slayer, Samurai based off of the asian-aesthetic of Tengu/Canthan cultures, and Paragon based on the fact that they wield spears (or lances? wink wink).
Have fun, don’t flame!
Yeah I updated the blog post, can’t change my thread posts though for some reason.
Tyrestrian has the best solution I’ve seen thus far. It allows Thieves the freedom of wall-fighting without the game-breaking side effect of Thief lord-zergs, and prevents the Mesmer mechanic (either the glitched version or the legit version) from providing an OP advantage to an entire realm.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Of-Portals-and-Pouncing/first#post273928
Good stuff.
An easy fix would be to simply give the defending Lord NPCs a power scale or buff that makes it harder/impossible to down them while the keep/tower/etc remains “intact”, and the buff simply fades when a wall or gate is destroyed. This would allow Theives/Mesmers/Elems to get up onto the walls and deal with the wall defenders during an assault, but wouldn’t allow them to single handedly bypass defenses and capture the location outright.
I LOVE this idea. It makes perfect sense. Thieves can still assist from the walls, but they won’t just be able to take stuff over on their own – this would also apply to the Mesmer portals too.
Hi. 80 Mesmer here on GoM. I read the linked material….but I guess I’m not understanding.
The links refer to all the problems with a massive amount of people getting invisible/not rendered quick enough when sent through a portal into an enemy zerg. I don’t see anyone talking about using portal to bypass a keep with a standing gate/wall, which seems to be what you are claiming takes place.
Could you link a video or post that specifies how and when people are using the portal skill to traverse from the attacking side of a gate/keep to the defending side?
As a side note, I am totally all for Theives being able to shadowstep up to defenders/walls, so long as Elementalists and Mesmers can use their Blinks to do the same (as it was in the BWEs). It would make people actively defend against threats versus zerging a keep, dropping a ridiculous amount of upgrades and then the defenders leaving it alone to zerg another location, which is what seems to happen on WvW when one team has a huge amount of map control.
Here’s what I know from what I’ve read on various complaint posts on the forums, as well as experiencing it firsthand in WvW. The slow-rendering of players passing through portals allows players to traverse thin objects (such as the water-gate in borderlands maps). This was something that happened several times in the past few days, resulting in my servers loss of keeps. We originally thought it was flight-hackers, as the gates/walls of our keep were never breached, but the lords were still being killed. Additionally, portal placement at these weak-rendering areas also allows troops access into keeps using the same rendering mechanic (issues? flaws?) suggested in the post that Anet responded in (saying it was legit).
Sorry but if you’ve spent any time at all in WvW recently, you will no doubt have heard the kitten-complaints from players who’ve lost their keeps in record-breaking sub-2 minute zerg attacks. These were at first believed to be squads of flight-hackers, but in reality turned out to be very tactical mesmer portal placements. So no, the gate/wall did not need to be downed in order to cross into enemy structures and take them over. It was all a clever use of portal mechanics.
How is it anymore game breaking that a group of thieves would all have to individually use their mechanic to sneak into a keep/tower, when one person using one skill which allows dozens of people to sneak into a keep is not considered game breaking?
And it’s not so much as them definitely making changes to Thief, as it was that when I originally brought the issue up, the skepticism was followed with comments like; “it would break wvw” or “it’s OP, no one should be able to get into a tower/keep without taking down the gates/walls!” and “if arenanet wanted you to get into enemy structures before taking walls/gates down, then that’s what they’d do!”.
I think it’s more reasonable of a strategy to say that when 10 people role thieves for the specific purpose of being infiltrators in WvW, that they’ve put in the work to be able to do that, vs. one person skilling into one skill that bypasses the entire siege mechanic of WvW for an entire realm.
Hey everyone. I’ve talked here before about some of the changes I’d personally like to see applied to Thieves. One of those was allowing shadowstep mechanics to bypass physical barriers (LoS issues) creating a viable infiltration role for Thieves in WvW. That idea was met with a lot of criticism as folks thought it was OP and gamebreaking, or how “everyone would be rolling thieves”.
Well, in light of the recent Mesmer portal issue, allowing unfettered access to keeps for large groups via the Mesmer portal itself, ANet has officially responses that it is a legitimate strategy and completely legal. So I guess that means it’s not an impossibility for Thieves to have such control over their individual selves with some changes to our shadowstepping mechanic.

ArenaNet’s recent response on the official forums about the legitimacy of Mesmer-portalling as a legal strategy in wvw has opened up an official answer from ANet on the idea of infiltrating keeps/towers while their gates are still up.
I’ve created a new pro-thief blog post which addresses what ramifications the open-mindedness of this strategy may lead to in regards to previous criticisms of my thief re-work principles.
Read, enjoy, leave comments and criticisms!

We. Need. Dhuum.
We. Need. Grenth.
We need a culling.
Well, I ended up putting the guardian in vigil too. With my Thief I didn’t really care about the armors since I don’t like any of the medium order armors… so I chose Vigil based solely on the fact that they have the coolest looking base. This time though, it was due to armor.
It was mentioned somewhere in the wiki that we would be able to change orders “with a little effort”. I haven’t been able to find out if this is possible or not.
Has anyone done it?
What is ANet’s stance?
I’m mainly concerned because my Thief is in the Vigil, and I want to put my Guardian there as well (without having to repeat two of the same storyline). So I want to put my Thief in either Priory or Whispers instead…
Thanks for the help!
Friggin Google, wizards they be.
The email will contain the IP address of the computer attempting to access your account. If you would like to verify that the IP address of the attempt matches your own (and thus can accurately/confidently allow it access – and not a hacker!) go to the following website:
It will tell you your IP address so you can double check it with the email. Also, go to your account information on guildwars2.com and check the ‘security’ tab to make sure there aren’t any foreign IP’s (meaning any IP except one you want) that have tried to access your account~
@Anet and @Halo:
Twice today we’ve had to deal with your servers (Gate of Madness) hackers.
1. Gate of Madness flew-hacked all the orbs to themselves.
2. They JUST took our Garrison (yak’s bend borderland map) by fly-hacking in past 2 gates as a team to down our lord.
The game only costs $60.00 USD – and does not have a subscription fee. There is quite literally NO reason to implement trial accounts in that sense.
If you do implement trial accounts, we’ll have a lot of issues with gold spammers that will include the dual-usage of both trial accounts as well as their preferred method of hacked accounts.
In the situation that trial accounts are implemented, please let them be severely restricted. I’m talking…
1. The starting event for each character is now independent of other characters, so you won’t get to interact with other players until you leave the starting zone
2. Trial accounts cannot leave the starting zone. When they are done with the event, they are left as event=complete, and kicked back to the character select screen until they purchase their account.
3. Trial accounts cannot use /say, /team, or /map – but can use /guild and /whisper to. This will keep trial accounts from being used as spam-bots, AND make it so new players can still communicate with friends. Additionally, /whisper should be restricted to only people who are on your friends list/have you as a friend.
I know ANet has mentioned nothing about implementing trial accounts at this time. But I also know that NCSoft lurks behind their shoulders, looking for as many ways to get as many people as possible in the game, hackers and spammers bekitten

Computer is re-formatted, it’s been about 12 hours – no hacking attempts since. Good stuff.
In retro-spect I think I got the spyware on my machine after receiving a fake arenanet email from someone with an blahblah@guildwars2.com email address. I knew it was a phishing scam so I emailed it off to the exploits@arena.net address, but not before the preview pane of my mail client opened it up first.
First, I would like to preface this with the following things.
1. I verified my email address the first day of headstart – email authentication should be turned on for me.
2. I am currently secure, have changed my password several times in the midst of a hacking attack – and now strangely have an interesting password setup (more details below).
Dear ANet, and players – it has unfortunately come to my attention that the current security system of password changing as well as email authentication are not working properly.
Tonight my account was hacked. Fortunately, it was going on quite literally as I was just starting to play. I was able to log the hacker out numerous times, before they could steal anything of value from me. I lost a bit of silver from a low level Engi – but all in all it was an effective defense on my part. While I was constantly booting this person out of my account, I was able to change my password several times from the infected computer while my wifes computer booted up. I was able to successfully change my password for the 8th time on my wifes computer in what was 10 minutes worth of hack-defending. For those of you curious – this person was able to get my new passwords, in real time – and log in with them repeatedly until I was able to remedy it on a safe computer.
Now, here are the things that are disturbing about all this. The first being that after checking my ‘account security’ page – the only IP address that wasn’t mine, came from California – which is not the state I live in. I neither received an email authentication message stating someone logged into my account from another state – but using the “disconnect session” button did nothing as well. No other IP address but my own showed up AT ALL during the rest of the attacks.
Secondly, in the flurry of changing passwords, it has been determined that game passwords do not sync up with the website password changes very reliably. As it stands now my game login password is the newest one I’ve created, while logging into the website still requires that of my old password. ANet, you might want to look into that as well.
I am very thankful to have a reliable friend to send my valuables to in game, in the off chance that kitten hits the fan – at least I know it’s safe with him. He also watched over my account while I was doing damage control, notifying me of everytime someone logged into me, and what character they were doing it on. Lastly, he reported my account in case I was unable to save it successfully. I have to laugh at the dim-witted hacker, who probably found himself unable to do anything with my account in the short seconds he had with each session, as all my characters were out in the middle of nowhere – and only one had anything of real value on them.
If any of you are wondering, yes – I am currently re-formatting my computer from scratch. I’m not risking getting another hacking, and will be changing password for everything I have just in case their keylogger/malware/spyware was able to get ahold of them (which it probably did).
TL;DR: Successfully defended my account in real-time from a slow-witted hacker. Email authentication has failed me, and the password change system for game login accounts is not working properly.
Thank you for reading, I hope ANet can at least acknowledge this.
Not every class has access to them – and those that do rarely use anything else. It’s a cheap/quick way to say “haha I hit one button win I win I win I win!”.
-Pistol Whip
-100 Blades
-Unload/Rapid Fire (to an extent)
Over half the people you see in spvp are thieves and warriors, specifically because they have access to these skills.
Sure you’re thinking “but wait! there are lot of other viable builds that those warriors and thieves are using! there’s no way they all using 100 blades and pistol whip all the time!” But you would be wrong. I’ve even seen warriors and thieves claim to be using a different build, WHILE they are simply 1-shotting people with their cheap moves.
Now you’re thinking “but wait! there are a lot of ways to get away from those skills. they have weaknesses too!” You would be right! However, for most of those classes that can break out, they can only do so if they spec/skill specifically for the purpose of avoiding those skills! So what’s being suggested is that we just waste all our utility so that we can counter 2 skills? Seriously now?
Thieves and warriors both have the ability (and they utilize them as such) to pin you down/prevent you from escaping before using these OP combo’s that dish out 15-20k+ damage. You can’t ignore it, and you can’t say I’m lying – because everyone here’s seen it in action.
They need to go, simply put. Replace them with something else. Shift the focus/balance off of these skills so that warriors can get back to utilizing their plethora of weapon sets and skills, and Thieves can go back to their usual rotation of D/D spamseekering!

I myself am not a YouTuber for GW2 (yet!). However, after reading in several different places already about the recent actions taken against those who are – I think it’s a fair assumption to say that a great deal of the GW2 YouTube community, streamers, and fans of seeing GW2 as an E-Sport, disagree with your stance on the current policy of monetization (or more specifically, inability to monetize) YouTube video content.
Here’s the GW2 Official Forum post on the issue
Here’s the /r/GuildWars2 post on the issue
Here’s the Team Paradigm post on the issue
Here’s the GW2 Guru post on the issue
In a summary of opinions, it would seem as though monetization of YouTube videos recorded by users would not result in a loss of money for ArenaNet. It would help spark more interest for the growing desire to see SPvP in GW2 as an E-Sport. YouTube videos are in themselves one of the big reasons why GW2 was able to gain such popularity pre-launch, as it’s free word-of-mouth advertising in a popular domain.
Not that it should be taken as a threat, but many players are deeply upset with the action taken by ANet/NCSoft in regards to the monetization of the videoes, and are even moreso concerned with the future of SPvP as an E-Sport. Please reconsider your position on the subject, or present reasoning as to the decision to tighten the leash on publishing YouTube content!
To any players that agree with this position (or don’t) – put your feedback on the issue here, as well as your support if possible. ANet has made it known in the past that they are willing to alter policies if the playerbase cares enough about it – and this is how it’s done.
Thank you,
-LoreChief
Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it Scunge.
I’ve also played MMO’s for years – but it doesn’t really mean anything. It doesn’t matter how many MMO’s you’ve played, a veteran can be hacked the same way a noob can be hacked. I was hacked in WoW, and after they restored my account, I was hacked again. It was a key-logger, there’s no two ways around it. I found it with Spybot S&D, removed it, and had no further problems after the fact.
What you’re both failing to realize is that there are people out there WITH YOUR INFO OR WAYS TO GET IT. They aren’t doing it through the game, they are doing it through your computer. You are infected, you need to get that fixed. It’s not ANet’s fault you’re infected, you’re the ones who picked up the trojan/malware from elsewhere – THAT IS ALL THERE IS TO IT.
ANet HAS examined why this is becoming an epidemic – gold farmers have your info, they got it from other games, they got it from your computer, they may have had it for a while now without using it. They are using it now, and you have failed to keep your account secure. YOU HAVE FAILED TO KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT SECURE.
Re-install your operating systems.
Change all your passwords.
Verify your bank account isn’t also being hacked.
Be smart about what websites you visit in the future/kittens you download.
Stop trying to make it into something it’s not.
I am a professional IT, and I will let you know right now – everything is pointing to you having a key logger on your system.
1. You were hacked in the first place
2. You were hacked almost immediately after your account was unlocked
Unless you did not change any of your important information (like email and account passwords) after getting your account unlocked, which is what SHOULD be done, the only way the hacker could have accessed your account is if they found out your new password again. The only realistic way this could have happened is with a keylogger.
Further more, it doesn’t matter if Ken or Ren work in customer support, the way you are talking, the way you are replying, is inflammatory, self-entitled, childish, and completely inappropriate. Your account is locked again because your account got hacked again – which isn’t ANet’s fault. They just protected your account from further fraudulent use, you should be thankful or at least patient and understanding. If you called me up for support and acted like you have here, you can bet your little kittykitten that I would tell you to go kittens yourself. You aren’t the special little snowflake in the chaos of hacked accounts. There aren’t frequent-hackered miles that put you at a higher priority than anyone else. More importantly, ANet isn’t going to sit here and go “well this guy JUST got his account back, so even though he’s locked out again due to gold spam… we’ll let him play with his favorite CGF partner for a while longer!” – because that’s a bullkitten way to run support. GET OVER YOURSELF.
Signed,

I’m glad you see them that way. I hope that your expectations weren’t something related to me personally though!
I’m going to start off with a laundry list of complaints about the structure of SPvP.
1. Sharks respawn too quickly in RotC. Most of the time, 2 skilled players will be outnumbered by sharks that they’ve killed thrice over trying to take that control point. It’s not a node that needs defending usually because of how reliable the shark respawn rate is – meaning it’s a first come first win node.
2. The cannon in RotC doesn’t function properly with the camera. I play an Asura, and 9 times out of 10 I can’t aim the cannon where I want to because the cannon won’t look that way, and instead auto-zooms me into the cannon itself.
3. Auto-Balance is a troll. This happens in two situations for me. Either I’m winning, and I get auto-balanced to the other team right before the end of the match – and am not compensated for it. Sometimes this happens more than once in the same match. It’s not rare for me to be on the winning team, switch teams – that team starts winning, and then I get swapped back to the other team before the end of the match so I lose.
4. Other players need to show up on the map at all times. I can’t tell whose on my team, or how many of them are on my team – because they don’t show up unless they are in a certain proximity.
5. The “how to play the match” notification doesn’t need to appear more than once the first time you ever play a certain type of match. It shows up multiple times in the same match – like whenever I die, or whenever I’m piloting a trebuchet.
6. Rounds don’t last long enough. The second one team gets 100 points over the other, it might as well be over. There’s almost no coming back – even if the losing team starts to heavily dominate.
7. There are many spvp rooms that just have too few people to function. I’ve been stuck in 1v2’s and 1v3’s due to hitting ‘Play Now’ and being thrown in the emptiest room. I look at the list of open rooms that are at 13/16, 14/16, 15/16 – and I can’t join one of those, even if I JUST hit refresh and I know there’s room. I don’t get a channel full message, or a queue notification – nothing happens and I’m forced to hit Play Now after a minute or two.
So many posts in this thread:
“I actually have to work to kill multiple mobs at the same time as Ele – I just go warrior and faceroll lolololol”.
Have fun with your 2 button class I’ll stick with my 20 button squish-army knife~
Not everyone who wields a dagger in offhand is using a scepter in main hand first off.
Secondly, the AoE of Dragon’s Tooth is like 1/5th of what Churning Earth is. Churning Earth does a different set of effects (cripple + bleed vs. burning). Technically, style-wise, it fits the element moreso than dragon tooth anyways.
I don’t use it when solo unless I’ve got a lightning shield up to stun my attackers while I cast it – or some other form of CC on them. It combo’s nicely with my elemental-dance that goes:
RTL → Updraft → switch to fire → Burning Speed → Ring of Fire → Fire Grab → switch to earth → Earthquake → Churning Earth → Arcane Wave + Arcane Blast
kitten tons of crazy AoE damage happening all at once. Churning Earth does the most damage to the largest area out of the skills I’ve listed.
Good afternoon!
I am looking to start a WvW-centric guild on Yak’s Bend. A name has not been selected at this time.
I’m looking for;
-Members on the West Coast
-Weekend players
-Weekday evening players
Please be friendly, and either message me here or in game (via mail or chat).
Thank you for reading,
-LoreChief
No option to start a fight with her for skillpoint. She just sits on the ground doing nothing.

It also stops people from communicating with each other for legitimate reasons. I want to be nice send some one an item I have to have them on my friends list , that is just going to mean I am not going to share any more. Stopping goldsellers should not stop normal players. Any solution that does is not a solution.
Also why on earth can’t I trade with a friend through mail? Or even a stranger? Why is the trading post my only option?
Whats stopping you from trading with your friends via mail?
You aren’t supposed to be able to trade with strangers via mail, thats not why it’s there and that’s not how it works.
Trading post is your only option because that’s how trades should be done! We aren’t supposed to have an in-game craigslist you know.

Greatsword Training does not stack with Illusionist’s Celerity. I think this is a bug as it’s worthless then to go into the Illusions tree as a greatsword Mesmer when you can’t reduce the cooldown on Phantasmal Berserker.
Duelist’s Discipline only works for Magic Bullet, and does not effect Phantasmal Duelist.
Why not make it so that you can only send mail to people who are friends? If I add you, and you add me – we can now send mail to one another. This will prevent the gold spammers from filling up peoples boxes with gold spam.
It will also prevent others from performing trades via mail for profit (which they should be using TP for).
A build doesn’t become ‘more interesting’ when it has components like “+5% damage for using a dagger” in it. That’s the point I’m trying to make though. Something more dynamic, more complex, more.. more anything really – would make for more interesting builds.
You go up to any pro SPvP person using +5% dagger damage, and ask them what makes that trait special, and they’ll tell you the same thing; “well.. it lets me do 5% more damage with daggers?”
I don’t think it’s the fact that each trait on their own doesn’t appear to do much – a lot of them do. But some traits don’t do much on their own, or together with other traits – such as the +5% dmg mods I’m currently lampooning.
And just because they hopefully replace these talents in the future, doesn’t mean they will be replaced with “I-Win” buttons, using shock-words adds nothing of value to the argument.
Double daggers with dagger mastery is not a unique play-style, it’s still just double daggers with marginally increased damage – and that’s the problem!
@Mulch: Before the gold bots took over map chat, it was a wonderful way of socializing outside of the guild (especially if you’re like me and can’t seem to get into a sociable guild!) I want the gold bots gone, and map chat back to where it was~
@Nyt & Raf: It’s not about the fact that way points are optional. It’s about the fact that people prefer them, regardless of whether they have the cash or not – and there will inevitably be people supporting RMT companies because they want the gold to use for fast-travel. I’m not saying I agree with it, but that’s how it’s going to happen. Additionally, coin isn’t that easy to come across, especially when you have to fund a winning-streak in WvW.
@Mulch: Just because it’s not the top complaint by players doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve attention.
@Tallenn: Thank you being the person who understood my post. I’m glad that not everyone sees what I say as mindless rambling!
