I would like to point out that the engineer bugs compilation list has been moved to the wiki now (so check there for more up to date). Additionally, when I was looking through the list, deployable turrets was stated to be “unconfirmed”. I went ahead and changed that when I looked at it 3 days ago.

You don’t come into suggestions and start saying “nerf x class”. These forums are not another outlet for profession kittening.

As Fievre said, this is silly. Mesmers are not OP, they just play differently than you’re used to, and whether you’re playing as one or fighting against one, it’s a new world to actually deal with deception in an MMO aside from “stealth”. That doesn’t mean OP.

Ditto what Deimos said. Jumping puzzles are awesome, fun, and challenging. You aren’t required to do them. It’s an optional part of game play, so there’s no real use of complaining about them existing. However, if you wanted to provide CONSTRUCTIVE feedback on how to improve them, or how to implement new ones, themes, etc – do so.

Its definitely useful for jumping puzzles. I love the animation too. I wish they would increase the range though, as well as the speed it triggers. It was a total letdown that the engi preview video that ANet still has on the main site, is so much more… everything, than what they’ve given us. Spamseeker has the same range (almost), activates super quick, and does a lot of damage (and can be used repeatedly). I know it’s comparing apples to oranges, but… something seriously needs to be done.

I agree with you. We can use our pull skill currently as an interrupt, but only if the enemy is far enough away (if they are right on us it doesn’t work).

Asura are androgynous. They aren’t designed to be gender-distinguishable at a range, as the only difference in their bodies IS the face. Even their society is uni-sex when you look at it. You don’t see any sign of their culture where men/women have any advantage over each other – including the outfits.

Pistol vs Rifle DPS discrepancy?

I personally like the rifle better in general. It synergizes with turrets a lot better than pistols or pistol/shield, gives me a short cooldown immobilize (which is GODLY in wvw), as well as a short cooldown knockback (again, GODLY in wvw – especially near ledges), and the freedom to both fight close range as well as long range.

Pistols are disappointing to me for various reasons. The first one being that my engi only ever uses one of them in animation, and the other that the ‘1’ and ‘2’ skills are rather lackluster to say the least. It doesn’t help that the actual useful pistol skills have cooldowns reaching up at 30 seconds (and for what, an AoE cripple?).

I’m an Asura, so I can’t even see pistols 99% of the time. The rifle is more fun for gameplay, strategy and looks

I agree with Awesome actually. The idea behind being able to throw elixirs in the first place is for a support role. Even then the idea is to stand back and throw protection (as an example) to the front line. What good does toughness do you when 95% of your skills are ranged?

I am talking about addons that give you information, that helps you, but doesn’t play the kitten game for you. Like do you like gathering this addon http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/gatherer for wow lets you mark your minimap with nodes you have found so you find the node location again. Which does not go out into the game and get the nodes, it just give you back the info that you got before.

When you have add-ons like Gatherer, people tend to find the “most optimum gathering path”. This means players (and also bots) will be patrolling maps in static configurations, grinding mat gathering from node to node, “Automatism”.

Other mods, like damage meters, gearscore’s, etc – don’t interfere with the game, but add an unnecessary judgementalness to a playerbase that has every right to play the game their own way without being judged as a poor player.

Honestly, other than a few slight UI tweaks (like engi’s being able to see turret health), and maybe some colorblind support, the game doesn’t need any other add-ons. Nothing you could add would be of any value to a player, other than automating in-game processes (whether directly or indirectly).

I don’t like the idea of in-game addons, or out of game botting/hacking/macro’ing utilities. However, I love the idea of community created apps for the “Expanded Experience”. In-game UI only needs a few slight tweaks, not all that much though.

I’m all for unique-ness in skills, however – I feel this sort of a skill set belongs more in the ranger tree than engi. My point being that ranger (I don’t play one, they bore the hell out of me) is so… samey, that they could stand to use this kind of a skill tree. If anything, remove the spirits skills and give them trick shots like your idea.

That being said, bows are a ridiculous idea for engineers. Hammer would be a more logical choice for a new weapon set, as would simply creating engineer-themed kits like the ones I’ve suggested in other threads (golem arms, mega-drill).

I don’t know about the coat, but the mask and shoulderpads are called “Gunner’s Pauldrons” and the mask is called “Needname Mask”. They are part of a set that doesn’t have a consistent name. You can try them on at the PvP locker in the mists though.

I have a feeling you’ve never actually fired a shotgun with it close to your head. There’s a huge difference between that and a rifle sight.

Also, I would rather see a shotgun weapon implemented before they ever turned engi rifle into actual rifle animations and such.

I went Priory. I would’ve gone Vigil if I didn’t already have two chars there (they just have superior looking armors for both medium and heavy compared to the other two orders!).

You CAN use elevation as a tactic, a mob receives invulnerability when there is no pathing available for the mob to get within attacking range, or in other words when you are in a spot that makes you invulnerable to the mobs attacks it will become invulnerable to yours.

However, invulnerability is also given when you kite a mob too far away from it’s spawn point, this I think should be removed, if you’re actively targeting and attacking the mob, it shouldn’t reset, movement is just too important for that. However abusing pathing is an exploit and should never be allowed.

I agree with both points here. It’s annoying to kite a mob to death only to have it run back invincible at 5% health. Additionally, no player should be allowed to insta-win based on the fact that they are standing on an isolated rock lobbing arrows and bullets like an entitled jackkitty.

1. Remove Invulnerable Mobs

3. Dynamic Level Scaling = Area’s current level + (Character Level / 10)

7. Mob respawn times scaling to the number of players nearby

1. No. Too many high level mobs exist in areas where ranged classes would be able to cheaply kill them. Champion Spider in cave? Stand on the rocks behind it and spin-to-win! Not gonna fly, and it shouldn’t anyways.

2. Teleporting fees are not that bad. So far the only people I’ve heard complaining about them are poor due to bad practices. They exist for a reason, as a money sink, to keep the game economy from inflating.

3. Ridiculously OP occurs at +4 levels. If you’ve never fought a mob 4 levels higher, you’ll see that your damage amounts to half of what you’d do to something your own level. This doesn’t need to change, and could arguably be tweaked in the other direction to keep things more challenging (which they should be. Levels denote progress in the game, not attainment of omnipotent status).

4. These are being fixed daily for the most part. Eventually they will all be fixed and there will be nothing to worry about.

5. ANet can’t, and shouldn’t – design content in way specifically intended to harm bots, as it most always hurts the player more, and bots don’t give a kitten.

6. I like this idea, or at least a way of making it more convenient/cheaper than having to buy a 3g skill book everytime I wanted to re-roll my playstyle.

7. ANet has admitted this is a bug. They are going through all the areas reported to have insanely high respawns, and adjusting them as they weren’t intended to be that high in the first place.

8. Part of the challenge of the jumping puzzles IS the distorted views, view-blocking-foliage, and other obstructions designed to make the puzzle more challenging. It would be too 2D to remove those obstacles and make it a “just hit jump a bunch of times and you’ll get there eventually” kind of puzzle.

Honestly, just report them as bots. When they go over the player logs they’ll see the character flying/teleporting around, and treat them like a bot. That’s what we should want anyways, since a perma-ban is the best resolution.

I like all the ideas I’m reading so far. I originally wanted some sort of a party interface display for my turrets so I could tell when to detonate or not. However, I like Zax’s idea even more. Displaying above their respective action bar slots would be a much cleaner/less clunky than my way to implement it.

FT needs assistance all around. The fixes you’ve provided, while good – are just a drop in the bucket compared to how much work the tree needs (same goes for most of the weapon kits).

The [F] Interact key is designed now to prioritize available looting over everything else (unless you have an NPC selected). Either way, clicking on a non-interactive NPC 10 times in a row may trigger 1 voice response from them and nothing else.

Just de-select the target and continue looting.

However, I will agree with you on turret pickup. I play Engi and that kitten gets hella annoying quick. I just learned to not mash ‘F’ when I’m around them, and pay attention to what the interact key is saying. It’s not such a big deal anymore since I’ve had a lot of practice.

Pretty much what they said. What you’re suggesting is creating a horde counterpart of the alliance. It’s been done, and was a big reason why ANet decided against opposing factions in the first place. They built this game around teamwork and community, which is lost the second you make a separate game for another team.

I agree with most posters in this thread. No one can run backwards as fast as they can forwards, let alone aim a ranged weapon accurately. Additionally, it would be OP against melee players (except spamseekers). Be thankful they allow you to fire your ranged weapon from point blank range, as it’s not something that should work as well as it does in many peoples opinions.

No, being able to change professions is kittarded. If you didn’t want a lvl 80 mesmer, you shouldn’t have made a level 80 mesmer. You get nerfed? Big kittily deal. Everyone gets nerfed, and everyone gets buffed eventually. You disappointed you’re not the FotM now? DOESN’T MATTER – Re-roll and have fun experiencing the game again like you’re supposed to.

If you’re using HDMI, you should have a resolution of 4096 × 2160. Unless you are using a MASSIVE Tv (we’re talking 50+ inch), you should be able to read the text just fine at that. You may be sitting too close to your screen though if you’re having problems reading the text.

I roll as turrets + rifle (net, rifle and rocket) in SPvP, and with the exception of not having a spin-to-win button (100 blades, unload, pistol whip, yada yada), I do pretty good damage AND control. Due to my turrets not benefiting from my stats at all, it gives me the opportunity to pile on defensive stats to my char without effecting most of my damage (rifle is the only impact, but I use it for control anyways).

Omg… they don’t scale on our stats? YESSSSSSS!! I didn’t know that!! With this knowledge i can now go full D with turrets…

PS: What do you do for your heal? I tried healing turret but it turned out fairly lack luster in fights that i kept getting wailed on, however in fights where i could have it up for a good amount prior to the fight it was significantly better due to the constant regen ticking.

I use healing turret. However, I pretty much just throw it down and immediately pick it up so that I have it on a 16s cooldown.

Is it possible to add some diversity to Engineer’s Kits?

I used Kits very often but they always look the same ever since. Is there a way to give them a different look?

(1) The “BACK” item among the 6 accessories, decides the appearance of Elixir Gun, Flamethrower, Bomb Kits, etc. Anyway, it never shows any graphic.

(2) The “family (Cleric, Knight, etc)” of the main hand weapon decides the appearance of our kits, or probably the rarity, at least in the case of Exotic and Legendary, can give them a different look.

Are these suggestions, or is this how it actually works and I’ve never noticed it? If so, please attach screenshots!

I’ve personally tested it, and it’s a waste. The proc effect only comes from the main hand, not the off hand.

That also makes sense. I prefer to have it stylized to be more “inventor” than “soldier” though. Rocket launchers still kind of scream infantry, but atleast they’d have the option to make the equipment itself look inventive. I think cannons are still the way to go though.

Now first off, I don’t personally use or have any intention to use magic find gears. However, the more threads I see questioning it’s use, the more it makes me think; “this could all be a well designed anti-bot system”.

Hear me out here!

You sacrifice gear stats for magic find. You lose out on things (mostly survivability whether it be due to lack of offense or defense) because you want to get more gold, items, crafting mats, gears, etc etc. Well now that you’ve sacrificed those stats, you’re easier to kill, especially when you aren’t paying attention to your surroundings (which bots don’t really do).

Legitimate players NOT stacking magic find are surviving and prospering, while the bots are running around naked getting mauled by everything within sight. Why? Because they tried to get rich quick and they fell for the trap.

That’s just my theory anyways!

I think it’s just the luck of the draw. I know when I run dungeons with my family they seem to get green items from boss drops and then the chests themselves, whereas I only ever get blue items. However, I get the best map completion rewards (they are my armor type and good upgrades too), whereas they get stuff they can’t use :P.

I’m only lvl 51 and I’ve made 6 gold just off doing maps and stuff, he may just have bad money making practices. Make sure he’s salvaging white gears, and selling blues/greens. Also, it’s been stated a lot – use the Mists as the go between for getting to capital cities, saves a BUNCH on waypoint fees if you’re in the general vicinity of your target destination (as opposed to hopping around the entire world).

Simple suggestion; merge bomb and grenade kit into a single kit, call it the Mobile Cannon kit.

1. Grenades are too slow moving
2. Bombs are placed at feet and have no range component other than radius.
3. Grenades are not “engineer-ish”, they are “infantry/ground troop-ish”.
4. They have similar effects
5. Frees up “kit” skill type for a new kit (drill, rocket hammer, golem arms, whatevs)

It doesn’t have to be a shoulder-mounted cannon, it could be a rocket launcher or something too.

Arasuki, use a gmail account, turn on 2-step authentication and tie your email account to your phone. Make sure email authentication is active on your account (sounds like it is). There, if they try to hack your game account, it’ll require an email to be sent for permission (don’t acknowledge it). If they try to hack your game account to accept the email authentication, they’ll have to get the code thats texted to your phone in order to do so. You’re safe then my friend.

You can stack stealths on top of each other so long as you don’t run out of stealth and gain the ‘revealed’ debuff. I’ve heard you can stealth as long as 16 seconds thus far – which is possibly what you’re seeing.

Warriors are not superior to rangers with ranged combat… max range on longbow I believe is 1200 for warr, and 1500+ (with arc) for ranger.

Ranger melee is more tuned to dueling than warrior imho.

I think the biggest issue is that you can’t just go single-turret build. Because of that, you have multiple turrets taking up your utility and healing slots – which accounts for almost half your bar space. The fact that you are expected to choose your stats in this case, specifically in a way that most benefits only your character and weapon skills, is both liberating and marginalizing.

I find that since my turrets when out en masse are pretty strong, that I stat entirely into defensive stats for my own survival. It doesn’t help though that turret traits for healing and ground-targetting are lightweight/borked, and that turrets can neither be focused on any specific target AND they stop working when the Engi is downed…

I can’t shoot enemies off of things with OC-shot. They just get blown to the edge and bounce off of nothing. Is this different against players than it is mobs?

Only the top 4 players (2 per team) will get gems first off, which means that the other 12 players spent money for nothing. This system is set to only reward the “gem prize” to top contenders. I can already tell that because there exists a way to make gems off of this, that many players will automatically disregard any protest to the system as “whining” as is already happening in this thread…

I would just assume not have gems rewarded as a prize at all, and keep the “hardcore” tournaments free.

Ticket prices are in the Black Lion Trading Company. They’re cheap. You can buy them for in-game gold after converting to gems. Five tickets for 75 gems.

There does not exist an option in the BLTC to buy such a limited amount of gems. You buy $10 worth, so the ‘price’ is actually considerably more important than just the perceived small value you’ve put to it.

You make tournament tickets by doing free torunaments easy. If you are good enough, they will come quick.

Maybe I’m wrong, but the only place I’ve received free tickets from is my rank-up chest, which is a limited resource since you can max out on levels (or does over-ranking exist similar to over-leveling in PvE?). Either there are so many tickets earned for free that it trivializes the reasoning behind charging for them in the first place, or there are so few that the justification behind them is only to offer a free-trial of paid-tournaments.

Realistically how would you reward someone in WvW similar to paid tournaments and why would they do that? You get like 170 gems for getting 1st in PvP, so in theory they would (if it was paid WvW) give 170 gems to…the population of the winning side that joined WvW in the entire week?

I don’t mind buying bank slots, character slots, cosmetic stuff, and I wouldn’t even mind paying for server transfers. However, reading the recent article here gave me “that feeling” in the pit of my stomach.

Long story short, you can play ‘free tournaments’, or you can use tokens or cash for ‘paid tournaments’. The ‘paid tournaments’ have better rewards, reward all players who play, and cost money. I haven’t seen prices for paid tickets yet, but I automatically can disagree with it on the aspect that this is requiring players (who wish to compete in more than their chest-reward couple of free tournaments) to pay for access to content, and I’m not really okay with it. It sounds, and probably is – DLC. In a very abstract way, it’s technically paying for an advantage (more rewards, more glory). It’t now ‘Pay-2-Win’, but it’s pretty close.

Additionally, they are also going to add “rentable” custom arena’s, which will most likely have some sort of “use real money” mechanic to it as well (why would they call it ‘rentable’ otherwise?). I don’t know, maybe pvp lobby space is limited, and they can only afford more of it to be let go for money (which sounds more like poor planning). I’m not liking the idea of it, and am considering putting off my personal venture into the depths of SPvP as a result. Realitically, there will be a great percentage of the PvP-demographic that will just assume stick to free tournaments than spend money on it. What’s stopping them from monetizing access to WvW?

TL;DR: New “paid tournaments” and “rentable custom arena’s” sound like DLC – which is not okay.
