^ Because 100 Blades has been proven many times over to be the strongest DPS we have?
Every build and weapon setup will work in PvE, its that easy, the only difference is the Greatsword wielders will be dishing out a lot more damage than you are. Sword has a nice leap but staying on top of your target and keeping them locked down is rarely an issue here. From the sounds of it you’re not in Berserker’s gear either so your damage must be very sub-par, and considering damage is our only job, you’re not making a very good warrior there…. Err… No offence.
If you don’t want to offend people don’t say offensive things.
Telling some one they aren’t a ‘good’ warrior is rather silly. Define ‘good’? Pretty sure he is having fun and dishing ENOUGH dps.
You min maxers just kitten up every game you get your hands on, you know?
(Note: I’m not sorry if that was offensive, I don’t mind offending people. ^_^ )
Because I love archery, I main a Longbow. 10/30/30
I skip longbow traits since they are bad. And tactics tree is bad. My gear is strange mix of soldier, knights, beserker and Rabid. I have 2.1k power, 50% crit, 500 cond dmg, 33% crit dmg and 2.8k armor.
It is very fun but very challenging in wvw. It takes a lot of experience to guess how a zerg will move in order to accurately drop your combust/arc shot on them. The attacks are so slow in flight that if you are not careful they will be blocked/reflected. If you are very experienced though LB damage is amazing. Combust shot alone will do up to 15k dmg to a target who stands in it the whole time x 5 for a group. Arc shot crits 4-6k and hits up to 5. Exploding shot crits for a 1k and is also aoe, fan of fire can crit up to 3k at point blank. Pin down does a ton of bleeding dmg, depending on cond it could do 10-15k over 20 seconds.
Taken all together you can surprise a person at range and down them in less then 5 seconds with a bit of luck.
(edited by Lorelei.3918)
Here are my ideas:
1. You are right, get rid of stronger bowstrings and let the bow be 1200 default.
2. Fix the bug that causes combust shot to not fire if your adrenalin level changes while placing the aoe field. (very annoying)
3. SInce you got rid of stronger bowstrings that bug goes away too.
4. Improve projectile speed across the board by 20%. Pin Down especially misses way too much for being a critical attack.
5. Change the minors in the tactics tree to support burning damage.
Minor 1: You burn enemies when you heal.
Minor 2: Burning lasts 1 extra second.
Minor 3: You do 10% more damage to burning victims.
Remove burning arrows and replace it with ‘Cauterization’; your fire field ticks remove bleeding from yourself and allys who are standing in it.
I still have yet to spend a single point in WvW ranks
Well bully for you!
Oh oh I know. Lets have a Ultra Siege Beast!
It’s a tamed Queen Karka with a pair of frikkin pact laser cannons on its back. It can go under water too!
one thing i notice, yaks and cd zergs are softies. nothing compared to what we had the chance to experience vsing maguuma zergs (e.g. DERP).
but still kaineng is at third place. close score though. so the matchup is balanced.
If I had to say in a word what we lack at CD…
It’s Bloodlust. We just aren’t bloodthirsty enough. Bunch of darn hippies on our server ;p
they explicitly told us when they end up changing arrow cart mastery they will allow us to refund our ability points.
That’s Good, but it would still be better to be able to reallocate at will. Sure they are different from trait points, but its gonna take a darn long time to get every wxp point filled. In the meantime, being able to move points around, and see what works best for you would be just a nice thing to do.
We should have a way to reset our WXP. At the very least, we should be given the option to reset our WXP layout after wxp abilities are changed in a patch.
It’s only fair. Especially when we (especially those who don’t go to forums) have no way of knowing when or how things are going to be changed.
If you agree to this please reply, it takes a lot of replies to get anets attention. Thanks.
Scythes aint gonna happen, staff is necro “scythe” Axe offhand and dual weild swords on the other hand yes please.
It doesn’t have to stay that way.
Anyway much <333’s to you all, this is the most fun I’ve had in awhile. If you see a norn red/black female warr with a LB, that is prolly me.
Good, I’ll kill you and <333 the bag you drop.
You can try~
Yes I can’t believe we are this closely matched. I honestly expected us at CD to be crushed when I saw the names but no! We are in second place as of now. I love watching Kain fight. The way they stack, buff, move and port together is sublime. Quite a big difference from the Kain I remember who just flung countlis bodies at you till the weight of their corpses made your walls collapse…xD
Anyway much <333’s to you all, this is the most fun I’ve had in awhile. If you see a norn red/black female warr with a LB, that is prolly me.

If we’re getting a new weapon, it better be a scythe!
“Overall idea: look at bad/unused traits and improve them, or just rework them.”
Does this mean our minors in tactics will finally be changed? (please please please make Tactics the ‘burning tree’ how arms is the ‘bleeding’ tree )
“They’re not going to make a full-on damage build also one of the best survivability builds.”
Because that would be stepping on guardians turf. That’s a no no.
That melee ranger also takes forever to kill someone. He’s good as a distraction though. Especially if he gets 5-6 nobs to peel off after him, then he just made the enemy zerg that much smaller.
Good fights tonight Yaks. Also sorry to hear about your luck Kaineng. We know that feel. :c
Al Bundy I just thought I’d put your post(s) together into one since this is Not AOL….

If you don’t like the idea of NOT using Signet of Rage against a build that is meant to counter the effects that specific skill happens to produce, take the banner. Banners have a great mechanic where the boons last a short time, but restack every few seconds. The Thief will rip your boons only for them to last 3 seconds, and yours are constantly reapplied. At the very worst, it keeps both you and the Thief on equal footing with what boons you have.
wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahaha
he just brought up banners I’m laughing so hard I’m starting to cry now
even people who play thieves have to find this funny
I didn’t correct your grammar, punctuation, ect. You can pay me to do that. Thanks and have a nice day.
I’ve played both pretty extensively. Honestly Longbow is a infuriating weapon..
1. It all but requires a major trait in a sucky tree. Building traits around it is a nightmare because you either go for a shout build (oh please mister theif kitten me with my own 20 stack of might!! <333) or you ignore it and use it like some kind of melee weapon (lolwtfanet? why arent longbows just 1500 range by default across the board?)
2. Arcing shot and Combustion shot are slow. So slow that if you fire at max range, the zerg fight could be over before the shots even land! Don’t even get me started on trying to solo people with it…
3. Pin down is painfully slow projectile speed too, and if you spec Rampager stats, its a critical must land.
4. You’d think LB would be a condition weapon but its not. o_0
And yet, when everything hits like it should…it is GLORIOUS.
Currently because my gear is Rampager, Im using rifle. If I had the $$$ for zerker I might consider LB…maybe. I’m so done agonizing over this!
Perhaps other people got other idea’s please share them.
Not spending unrefundable points until you are sure.
Thank god there are smartarses left in the world.
There, fixed that for you. That attitude of his isn’t smart, its condescending. What would you suggest, hold on to them indefinitely since you don’t know when anets going to stop releasing new skills?
This wasn’t even a issue until anet released new skills AFTER we had already put our points into the wvw tree.
Necro’s focus 5 rips 3 boons and if you are a zerker necro, crits for 2kish…and chills the enemy.
Hilarious against a thief. One second they’re spinning, the next they are frozen, feared…dead.
Yeah the state of Wars now is pretty silly. In function they are squishier then thieves because they have no good defensive mechanics. Whereas we have DS, Locust Signet and one of the best heals in the game. Warrior mobility is good with the right weapons, but unfortunately warriors mobile weapons (sword, warhorn, GS) are not very good in pvp.
Warriors can stability stomp, but usually die before they can finish the animation unless they blow the 90s cd endure pain…
I’m really torn between my War and Necro. Neither of them have the tools to win insane 5v1 fights like rouge, mesmer and guard do.
Ooo Ooo I have a suggestion.
lets rework the tactics tree. If the Arms tree is all about bleeds, lets make tactics all about burning!
Changes…
Minor Traits
Burning Determination: placing a banner or shouting causes 1 sec of burning to nearby enemies.
Reactive Armor: At 50% health, receive a fire shield for 5 seconds (45 second CD)
Cauterization: Do 10% more damage to burning enemies.
Major traits:
Burning Arrows: no longer does 10% more damage, instead gives auto attack and Pin Down arrows the fire field burning effect at all times.
Stronger bowstrings: Double shot now causes bleed 50% of time + range increase.
Shrug it Off: Shouts remove 1 condition, does not stack with soldier runes.
Empower Allies: Gives allies a effect that increases their dmg per boon on them.
Empower: Moved to Master tree, causes any weapon you hold to gain a burning effect and occasionally cause burning (7 second CD).
Skill Changes
ALL banners gain the skill “Place on Back” which lets you carry that banner around with you and still use your normal skills. Downside is only one banner may be on your back at a time. Picking up a different banner causes you to drop current banner causing a blast finisher and put on new banner.
There! How’s that?
(edited by Lorelei.3918)
Meh, it still only hits 1 target, and it still can’t hit anything that moves unless its a squishy ranged type.
" We truely are on the razor’s edge between worthless and game breaking."
The problem is a handful of classes (theif, mesmer, guard, ele) are fine, and the rest are starving red headed step children who only fill niche rolls (Ranger, Necro, Warrior, Engineer)
The devs are and have been biased toward the former 4 classes. They only begrudingly give the latter any support where they really need it. Then say something about how it would be game breaking to do more…(Yeah, it would be game breaking for their favorite children to actually be getting killed from time to time.)
Totally ignored all the walls of text above.
Mix of Carrion, Soldier, Rampager, and Rabid gear got me 3k ap and 1.3k condi dmg and 30% crit before bonuses.
Damage is good, not 100b good but good. Flurry shines when you have 70%+ condi duration.
I use physical utilities because staying on target is DW swords biggest problem. Even if you aren’t able to kill your enemy, being able to chain immobilize a enemy for 10-15 seconds in wvw is essentially a death sentence. Very good at catching retreating zergs. You can rush through their ranks spamming cripple and flurry and bolas…
A;so Your bleeds keep doing dmg after you attack, you can dodge roll, line of sight or kite while they do their thing. Run in and out of melee range, timing it to your swings. Don’t stand around or you will die lots. If your endurance bar is always empty you are doing good c:
Disclaimer: Condi warrior is not a kill everyone build. Some ppl are kitten retentive about condi removal and those are the ones you run from. Its more about CC and pressure.
yet some of the most infuriating builds in wvw right now are loaded with condi removal. Like P/d thieves, d/d eles, bunker guards, Bunkers Rangers , ect…
I stand by what I said. Between condition and physical dmg you will get more dps with physical. Especially if you can’t get a flank. In other words Clerics > Apothecary. I think Bunker Rangers don’t realize dps difference because pets make up the lions share of it either way.
PS Im talking about when using a SB, not GS lol. I would take a apoth SB over a power GS for dps. But would take a power sb over apoth sb or cleric gs for raw dmg.
(edited by Lorelei.3918)
The signet, because your team left the banner behind chasing a thief. ;p
Yes, compassion training boosts natural for you, not your pet. Also makes any healing they do via skills (fern howl, moa heal) or combos heal for more.
Second, the greater the difference between your armor and their power, the greater the percent of dmg you take. If I am not mistaken that difference is exponential, so depending on who you fight it could make a big difference.
The best bunker rangers are melee, see http://youtu.be/tI7ouz1xt9E for example
But you can rock it with a SB. SB doesn’t need a single trait to be good. It’s just that good of a weapon. I like having it as a foil to my GS, some enemies I fight at range with SB others I fight in melee with GS.
Also no don’t go apothecary, expensive waste of time. In zerg vs zerg fights flanking can be too dangerous. SB is a power weapon, it just happens to have conditions you can use in certain situations.
There is no point to healing power if you don’t have toughness to protect it. You should go at least 20 into survival and while you are there you can get cooldown reduction on GS. Getting all those great skills on a faster CD is really nice. This is my build:
I went with compassion training because my wolf has leaps which splash in the healing spring, and buffs natural regen for me.
(edited by Lorelei.3918)
Kill Shot Warrior – A nightmare in WvW if he targets you. Can crit for 20K+ and can follow it up with significant dps. Excellent Mobility.
Longbow Warrior – Massive AoE output, vicious dps when built right. Good team support via shouts/banners. Excellent Mobility.
Axe warrior – A nuclear warhead that goes BOOM and people die. Excellent Mobility.
Hammer Warrior – A essential part of any zerg, the hammer warrior is a line breaker that kittens enemy zergs ability to use skills or get away. So-So mobility.
Greatsword warrior – Used to be very good. Not so much anymore thanks to quickness nerf and people getting wise to them.
You want to know something….
Many classes are stuck with just 2 or 3 viable builds. I just listed 5 and there are many variations of each of these. I feel like your entire rant came from you trying to trot a GS warrior into pvp and getting your rear end handed to you.
You pvp long enough you will know when to dodge, and then our vigor access becomes important. You will also come to understand that immobilize = death and we are one of the best classes at escaping them. We also apply them liberally. We have access to stability, another key defensive boon. What good is protection if you spend a entire fight sitting on your butt? What good are heals if all of your team mates have died around you? Sustain shmustain, maintain initiative and control the fight and you won’t even need to heal. Most people play in a very cowardly way as if dying had any real repercussions. If you are a warrior you should be feckless, fearless, and ready to do as much damage as you can to the enemy as fast as you can to as many as you can. Do that and even if you lose the battle, the war will be won.
PLEASE, Its the single most annoying thing about this game.
Sounds like it would fit a barbarian archetype more, although we never see those in GW.
A bit too much of a complicated a suggestion anyways.
A barbarian class would be cool. Like Age of Conan. We probably would need a new class to work a new mechanic like this in.
Though there was nothing really barbaric about LK’s, it just took a lot of penalties to make beserking balanced. I figure it would be the same here. In pvp it would be a bit UP as I stated it wouldn’t it? Maybe triple the HP and keep the penalties instead. The idea behind a zerker LK was that because magic resistance was hard to come by, it would be easier to deal with damage by forgetting resistances and just becoming a huge HP sink. Of course we don’t have seperate resistances here. We do have conditions though. And other mechanics like agony.
I got that too. I think login servers are going haywire.
Yeah, this is exactly the way the class is designed already. Go out with no armor/evasion/vigor/protection set up for DPS and die.
may as well play up our strengths right?
Ever play RO? Lord Knights were a interesting class specifically because they had very high HP and could ‘beserk’. Beserk was their feature mechanic, and caused a warrior to triple it’s hp, attack twice as fast and do more damage BUT it could receive no healing and its HP drained away every second. Only way out of beserk was die, or hit 1 hp.
…
While burst attacks are cool, Imagine being able to build your adrenalin in order to beserk like above? It would be like going into rampage form, only you keep using your weapon. To tailor it to this game, it would work like this:
Cast time is 1 1/2 seconds (takes time to take off armor.)
Healing is reduced by 100% , armor reduced by 50% (because you took it off in your beserker rage).
You stay in Beserk state until your hp hits 1% or you die.
You cannot gain adrenalin in beserk state.
Attack speed and damage are increased by 25%.
HP is healed to full and doubled when activated.
It can stack with Haste and other damage modifiers.
You HP drains once every 3 seconds you are not in combat.
You can use Endure pain and block stance. These do not save you from OOC drain.
And yes, you can rampage elite in beserk state…
Bursts would stay on F1. You can either use adrenalin to burst attack with F1 OR Beserk with F2. Since you cannot gain adrenalin in beserk state you can’t use a burst while zerking.
Beserk could be used as a OH SHI- button, since it heals you to full. In effect a last stand, since you can no longer heal and are taking increased damage.
It would be possible to chain. beserk>hit 1% HP>Cast Adrenal healing>Beserk. However, in practice you would need to get out of combat to not die between hitting 1% and adrenal healing actually casting. Even with 30k HP, 1% is only 300 hp, or about 1 bleed ticking 3 times…;)
Baddies would die alot using this skill, skilled players would get out of combat before they hit 1% and let themselves out of combat drain out of beserk. OR Go down in a blaze of glory..
It wouldn’t be OP because: It is a big heal, but comes with huge penalties. The damage bonus is offset by no bursting, and it forces you to stay in that mostly unhealable state until you die or run away. It would be just as it sounds; a last stand. Easy to see how weapons with bad bursts would hugely benefit, and it would solve our sustain problem. If it was OP in testing, it could be scaled back.
EDIT Saying Anet actually took us seriously, they may say having both bursting and beserking would be too complicated of a class mechanic compared to others and ask us to choose one. Which would you chose?
Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
(edited by Lorelei.3918)
I also agree. As it stands Longbow benefits from power more then condi dmg which makes no sense. To put it simply Carrion and Rampager builds should provide more dps then beserker when using Longbow. Right now Beserker outshines those two on longbow, ESPECIALLY if you miss Pin Down shot.
Anet: Just put a bleed on LB auto attack. For Rifle, take bleed off auto attack and improve its power scaling.
We in Crystal Desert have fought Ebay before, nothing special. They do need to be in our tier, and sbi in yours…but it is very close. I think Ebay has more even coverage from what I remember. SBI coverage is very spiky.
“LEEROY!”
You gain 25 stacks of Might, and 25 stacks of Vulnerability (10s)
HA! I like this one! Can we get the duration to 15s tho? 10s is too short, even with 50% might duration.
I put my build in the build post. I overcome the need for being a hybrid by being a tank. Most builds dont get the most out of might since it increases condi dmg and power. But a might stacking tank hybrid can. 30 defense, 30 tactics, 10 in the last tree. Trait for shouts, hoelbrak runes for might duration and might on hit, and learn how to use fire fields to further stack might. 15-20 stacks of might during a fight is totally feasible. That overcomes the lack of offense stats from going clerics and tank traits.
Greatsword has a huge massive con that makes it worthless for any kind of pvp.
Hundred Blades roots you and takes too long to complete. Greatsword dps is great on paper, but in practice people dodge, interupt, invuln, block, blink and leap away from it.
We could use a bit more Healing. I run a shout cleric build. I know heals work because they let me solo face tank a camp where sentinel would not.
We start with a thick HP pool and generally we do better dps then other classes all stats held the same. Giving us ele healing would break the game.
My suggestion is make GM Shout trait proc regen + heal and let banners have a healing pulse every 3 seconds in addition to regen.
Why? Because we don’t need to be giving extra healing to a HP heavy dps class. That’s like giving theives an extra second of stealth on all of their skills.
I think healing, and clerics gear should be viable for Warriors, but only for dedicated healing warriors.
One use for banners is to carry just one and use it as a replacement for sword/warhorn so you can run alternative builds in wvw, like Rifle/Greatsword, Longbow/Axe+Axe, ect.
Here is the fix for AC’s
Leave the damage alone.
Make it so AC’s cannot damage siege.
Done. Now Ac’s can’t kill trebs on walls or catas or balis. They can kill the people manning those things though…
Just give us the ele trait that lets us keep our passives while signets are on CD.
There, Signets fixed.
I agree 100% though I don’t think it will happen. Anet has yet to seriously rework a trait line of any class with a ‘new vision’. They might give us better rezzing traits…
If we are lucky.
The M1 Bradley aka Longbow Shout Tank Warrior
I so named this build because it is both a support and offensive tank build. It is lighter then the heavy tanks fielded by Guards and Ele’s but features a solid balance of support, tank, offense and mobility.
The basis of the build is the old shout warrior. Tack on a longbow, Dogged march, Hoelbrak runes, Spiked Armor and 11-17 stacks of might and you got a mean fighting machine. Might stacks are maintained by your 50% might duration + shouts + signet + fire field blasts. You have 2 blast finishers; arcing shot and warhorn 5. Each gives 3 might on a long duration. Obviously anyone near you is also going to get all those shout/aoe might buffs. So this build can lend good support to a team. Stack up, recieve might, fury, swiftness and vigor. If you got a guard then boom, 25 stacks for everyone. Oh and you got all those silly reviving minors too..
In standard 1v1 combat you open with longbow, fire off all your skills, switch to sword, maybe shout if one is off CD and then pop a flurry. Use warhorn 4-5 and autoattack till its time to go back to longbow. Drop another combust shot, then arcing, ect ect. Assuming you drop your arc shots on the fire field and maybe manage to swap and warhorn 5 before it fades and voila, 17+ stacks of might. In a zerg fight you can do some nifty things with all those aoe fields, blasting and shooting with your 100% projectile finishers.
Gearing is wtf ever you want really. No matter what you lean toward it will give results. Condition dmg? You got burning and bleeding. Power? Longbow has lots of power attacks. Toughness? Um yea.. Healing power? Definately. I mixed soldiers, clerics and some rabid gear into a unholy pot to get 2880 AP + 200 condi dmg + 3.1k armor + 1k healing + 22k hp. Use some tuning crystals and some power/condi dmg food (or lemongrass) and then might stack it up.
Here is the build link. Anet doesn’t like this god tier builder site so you need to copy and paste this URL
Don’t count out HP. Essentially all fighting amounts to DPS vs Effective HP. Effective HP being the combination of armor, HP and all healing during the fight. If a boon tank guard heals through twice his HP in damage, that means he had a effective HP of 30k…
Necros can pve, they just aren’t as good at clearing trash (which makes no sense, dks in wow were kings of trash cleanup.) because our melee is single target and our only strong power-build aoes are on big cds (Wells, DS #4). It terms of killing bosses our single target dps is up there.
