For those who didn’t play at the start of the game, one of the major reasons for adding an aoe cap on skills was because of “Survival stacks” which were original guild wars 2 meta.

You could stack 40+ people, chain waterfields and protection buffs and never die. This was convenient until servers reached critical mass of players meaning zerg fights could go on forever. Whereas with the limitations now through 5 cap aoe you have to be smart with your skills, waterfields and boons instead of boons stacking infinitely on players and one Elementalist / water field being able to heal an 80man zerg to full.

^ The above I remember stacking in a now, inconceivable amount of AC fire (pre-buff) and healing through it due to no aoe cap.

As to increasing the aoe cap, it wouldn’t work, increasing it to 10 would just mean that the 80man zerg can now kill the 20-30 man group twice as fast. 80 man groups should always be able to kill 20-30mans regardless of skills because at the end of the day people can claim to be super leet and be a zerg busting guild but few actually achieve this feet therefore the point isn’t very valid.

Thanks BG and SoR for the T1-type of experience this week. I’ve seen some things I’d yet to see in WvW. For example, this is almost the most people I’ve ever seen in one place on a map. I say almost because this was after ~35 of us were wiped:

zergs are rewarded a lot better than smaller groups for pretty brainless play, plus they strain the servers and the game just isn’t mechanically designed well for massive engagements

WvW is designed so you can “play the way you want to play”

So Zerg might be most viable option at the moment, but its also fun when you run 80 ppl into 80 people and their 80 people die.

Also hella fun and kitten boosting to take a keep with 10-20 people when you know there is a queue on the map from enemy server, try playing the game for fun and not reward.

They designed PvP in this game to not be a grind fest for “points” as it is in other games like Aion, the loot and currency (badges) is a casual side effect, not a determiner of success/failure in pvp. I play WvW for the strategy, cunning ability to beat larger groups or outsmart my counter-parts on the WvW field the kitten jolly is usually enough for me, how about you?

Small ops works and if you don’t believe this your not trying hard enough. I often lead 10ish+ people on a map where we have “Outnumbered” and take keeps because you keep up the pressure and hit multiple locations at once the “blob” is rendered useless sure they’ll kill you a few times, but the goal is to take the tower / keep not get kills, like some posters would have you believe.

^ Pretty much, and if you want to avoid skill lag, avoid EB/get a better pc.

You overestimate our queues our NA is same as yours, just height of prime might have full queues, but not for long. (BG perspective, occasional NA player)

Oc/SEA players go to Tier 1 because there is no action in other tiers, spend all night PvDooring or be the only guild across 4 maps, even in T1 often during Oceanic this still occurs (being only guild for 3/4maps).

SOR loves to forget that the server count includes PVE guilds, not just WvW. We have several 400+ man PvE guilds on blackgate, and tons of players that never ever step foot into WvW, and TC is known for their PvE community.

Thats why full servers usually are T1-T2, and usually full server is a winning one. Cool story bro.

So your observational “evidence” cannot negate the fact that the server full status uses the entire population of a server, not just people that enter WvW.

It also has Yak’s Bend as Very High population. Yet they are rank 11 in WvW.

Call BG stacked all you want. But full server status has nothing to do with it. You should be happy, now we can’t “buy” more guilds lol.

This is a phaux argument, Fights = exactly to ppt especially if you win them, push into a keep, especially a T3 keep like bay and watch the fights that ensue, the guilds that get the best fights, take most the keeps. MERC by far takes the most keeps during Oc/SEA timezone and we fight the biggest zergs because of this, we do this by putting constant pressure on our enemies forcing them to engage us, I can assure you who would engage us in combat if we spent all day running around in a field with our forces? The answer is noone, SoR and DB would sit on top of their towers spamming laugh emote at us running around like headless chickens so instead we push into keeps and towers forcing guilds / players to engage us. As for the “QQ bunkering” arguments everyone bunkers, not just BG, SoR is well known and notorious for sitting inside a T3 bay with much siege as JQ was with EMP back before the AC Buffs, I always have to treb.

No disrespect, but this hurts your pugs / militia, almost all of BG’s presence in SEA is militia following 5-20 guilded players / commanders, running all on one BL makes you a lot less efficient and hurts your ppt.

Finally not to jab, be rude or condescending in any way, as I’m sure it will have slight tone to it / will be taken this way by SoR’s trolls;

I find it hard to believe that this “decision” for a “training week” was undertaken prior to this match up after Sunday night when FEAR/TW played SEA and were effectively “defeated”.

Well then I guess SoS’s Oceanic was* more stacked than BG’s if thats the measure we’re going by, we lucky to get 1 queue during Oceanic here which is usually the float team.

There are a few SoR commanders and players who are unable to play due to connection issues which have already been mentioned in the thread, which then changes the dynamics of the fights

the result is the same fewer numbers on SoR, combined with the fairweather players turning up less frequent results in a decreased ppt overall

I call complete bull, MERC’s HK’s are uneffected and have no connection issues.

SoR has all the EST NA guilds and IRON/KISS overlap in NA EST you basically have the Oceanic of NA flipping everything of BG’s to quote “PvDoor”. BG’s mostly PST (Bar BT and RiSE) log in to everything flipped and anywhere in the range of 100-200 ppt and are fighting defensively all night. Your Oceanic coverage is the same as BG’s is always MERC v HiRE, OCX, XPK similar numbers the number disparity one day for MERC then the next for HiRE. SEA is the reverse of Late EU/NA EST.

Late EU / EST is SoR’s major advantage you are able to tier up your keeps before BG even logs in which allows you to go on offensive all night, much more recently I’ve been noticing that HiRE doesn’t raid, whats going on there they had a full map of players including pugs for the last month or 2 which has disappeared over the last 2 weeks. This is why we go so hard in SEA because we know you are capable of the exact same situation in EST NA so we focus solely SoR and often let the other server hold their thirds as to be a problem for you.

I have also observed a few times of SoR being capable of fielding forces of 60+ people in 3 maps during oceanic and past primetime SEA. Why this doesn’t happen every night? Perhaps someone with an unbiased viewpoint could explain it to me.

Sounds to me like it was just an odd day where we had a particularly high amount of casuals (read: person that doesn’t play every day).

Hello Cirus, it’s been a while since we worked together back in SoS.

As someone almost everyday playing during SEA prime time, I’d say it was back during Hong Kong players do not have any problem with their connections. Unfortunately until now the connections have not fully stabilized yet, hence still hurting our overall coverage. One of our main SEA guilds is NYS, where they are mostly consist of HK players.

And despite being outnumber sometimes due to coverage, we’re having a lot of fun against you guys, and hope to adapt to T1 strategies and environment. 15 IRON on BG BL right now beg to differ, only 15, but still, I’ve seen IRON push 20 in SEA good on them, butt don’t lie that they never play SEA.

It was said earlier in this thread but most of these these guilds are PvX guilds who are not consistently on every day. I may be mistaken but I think Hire has only been on in force 2 days this week.

That’s like saying Blackgate only has MERC, ND, CA as these are the only guilds which run EVERY day on BG during SEA. Even WM has nights off.

HiRE might consider themselves PvX but fielding a 50 man zerg every day is not pvx.

It is not from our main commander, it might be from one of our member, even I am in ATM , I don’t think it is possible to break Sor sea moral. they even have more numbers than JQ now.
ATM use to stay in JQ bl during our playing time normally 3-4 hours to upgrade JQ bl, After IRON and Kiss transfer to sor, we find out that our eu don’t have number to hold it until NA. So why we brother to sit in tower just waiting for Sor and BG to come so we can hit 1 2 3 with AC to defence our tower.
But it is not the reason we keep hit Sor, Sor use to be don’t have the numbers in sea before, that’s why we keep fight BG for so long, cause BG can bring out some good fight, not stay in the tower and shot with AC.
But fight BG for so long, we have getting a bit tired with it, we have lose around 80 members that don’t login anymore, now Sor have more numbers than JQ, So they come out from tower to give us some good fight, especailly Iron, I know they are EU, but they do have lots of people playing during sea time,so we really enjoy to fight Sor, now.
We only have 30-35 members log in everynight, normally our members play 2 hours, then the rest 2 hours we have around 20, If we think we can break Sor sea moral is more like a joke with the numbers and time we have, if it is from a big guild like [MERC] that have people in all time slot, maybe it is more possible.[MERC] really give us good fight all the time.
Waha is not dislike Sor, He is good friend with Indo, we just want to more enjoy the game, we don’t have the numbers to hit both SOR and BG, so we only can choice 1 side to hit, and [IRON] +Sor sea is more like fresh air for us. If JQ can get more sea guild to transfer in, then we might be have enough people to hit Sor and Bg at same time.
People say we hit the tower or keeper and BG took it after we leave, It is cause we don’t have the numbers to hold on to it. that’s why we decide to leave the map, Sor can hit BG to took the tower back, we can not control what BG want to do anyway.
there are some player might like to shot AC with 1 2 3 , but we are not, we just want to more enjoy our playing time with the way we want to play.
Talk about hate one server or break one server is unreal, [PRO] move from BG to JQ, [TKG] move from JQ to BG, there are maybe some guild move from JQ to Sor also, [ATM] might be one day move to BG , Sor, or other servers, who knows.

+1 it is well known, SoR SEA isn’t as small as they make it out to be and you are right, why defend a BL waste all night sitting on an ac knowing that IRON and KISS will just pvdoor it down when you log out, we all know and watch “Waha has logged out”, it is the meta at the moment and unfortunately JQ BL is fair play.
