None of the above servers got revitalized by transfers like BG hass.

The above servers have not been revitalized by transfers because a very large portion of the guilds have left these servers, making it impossible for them to recover.

It hasn’t happened to Blackgate because the guilds on here stay on the server when it goes down, and keep fighting for Blackgate to go back up again. It’s because of the willingness of Blackgate guilds to fight on and not give up that it receives new transfers.

Remember guys

SoR = Best community no server has a community in general, SoR has never received transfers all original guilds. SoR is the best!

I think the kittenumptions that everyone is making are:

1) The current ratings of servers are valid. They are not because we are not getting enough varied match-ups to even generate valid data. Trying to judge the quality of a server based on their current rating is much like judging the quality of people’s Reddit posts by the average # of up-votes they get.
2) How big a spread will make a game a blowout? Is 400 rating points even a significant difference? Really its just a number with very little meaning right now. Once this system starts working (based on the math of the system the idea is that a rating +/- deviation is in fact an accurate measurement of the range of what their rating might be in a perfect world so this is technically the way this whole thing was supposed to work from the get go.

I don’t want to do all of the probability math right now, but with absurdly high certainty there will only be a small amount of randomization each week as in order for a situation like Kaineng moving up to T1 to occur, every server from Blackgate to Maguuma would have to roll a lower range number than Kaineng, and some of them would literally have to roll almost -100% while Kaineng rolls almost +100%. As the blog post stated, at the end of the day we are really just going to see a bit of nice slight subtle movement so that match-ups are less stale, and eventually ratings are more accurate.

This is a great move, variety is good, yes it will suck for the first week or two but think about the movement that will occur through the servers. The 3 “Tier 1” servers will not be only ones who are able to duke it out for #1 due to the “Glicko” or “Elo” stopping servers from facing harder competition which has been the case a for a while now.

They won’t be ‘duking’ it out for #1 though, the server with the highest rating will still be #1 its just that they might not be battling #2 and #3 in the matchup.

So its like a sports ladder :P

Please keep in mind that SoR wasn’t doing much before IRON came to your server with almost two full guilds, leavign SoR with an EU presence that can cover a 40+ man zergs on 3 different maps at the same time. Now I am not down playing any of you guys on SoR and congrats on this weeks win and last weeks win, I think it is much deserved for you guys. Although lets not forget it is only becuase of IRON you guys are in the position you are in. Any how grats on winning.

Props to IRON. Not to try and take anything away from them, but SoR was T1 for a reason before they came over. The issue is, we probably received one of the best EU guilds in the game, as well as already having some of the best NA guilds, and I guess that coverage and how well IRON fits with SoR just screwed over the other 2 servers. Hopefully BG/JQ get some other good EU servers, and we can have full coverage all around for all 3 servers.

An answer I think Anet made for this was the upcoming patch where it may be easier to drop and gain a tier. This will stop a lot of transfers, which affect the fluctuation of how un/covered you are. People may still transfer, but I doubt quite as frequently.

Sounds like Anet is trying to destablize servers to promote server hopping and profit$. Well played Anet.

This change is a long term change, a lot of people are stuck in their mindset against change because of a few “roflstomps” here and there, but you have to think of it this way;

Anet is changing this system for longevity of the game, there will be sudden shocks to a lot of servers and that is unfortunate but in the long term it is attempting to dispel the current “stack stack recruit recruit” meta that is coming out of the stagnant match ups we have at the moment.

If I am commanding MERC during Oceanic vs a “lower tiered server” I won’t go out of my way to stomp, I want to have fun so does MERC and BG so if that means breaking our forces down into smaller numbers so we can have 10v10 skirmishes et al so be it, I’m glad this change is occurring.

So negative, smile, don’t worry be happy!

I strongly disagree with you on the quote below.

During a 2 week push of BG hitting NO.1 Server, BG dominated EU prime ticking at 600PPT at one point at 6am GMT+8. If I am correct, the data is still there in MOS #NA.

In case some might wonder about the IRON numbers when they 1st came when BG EU dominance stopped . I counted the numbers personally on TS, it fluctuated from 15-25 men and women.

Which was Ralikh, Tarkus, Hyun D, War Machine and myself staying up late, Ralikh routinely logs in later to command during EU at this time. Hyun is no longer able to play and myself Ralikh and Tarkus can’t pull these ridiculous hours on a regular basis neither can our guilds. EU timezone is a timezone of small skirmish and SoR usually didn’t show up during this timezone was often openly obvious it was pvdoor, the introduction of a large organised force in this timezone has changed the balance of T1.

Yes we did do big EU pushes in the last two weeks, but as is evident with the addition of IRON to SoR it is a time zone where any form of organised force can push the ppt well over 400ppt. If you are taking that data as BG having a natural presence in this time slot, we do not (other than RK ofc <3), as I’ve said quite a few times it was unsustainable and we stopped doing it due to it effecting our commanders and guildies sleep patterns.

Blackgate is an amazing server, pulls of some amazing things such as that win in March on the last day.

My comment was regarding the current T1 meta of; Recruit recruit recruit, if we had that system months ago, the servers might all be relatively more balanced because people wouldn’t have to transfer to the top 3 in order to enjoy tier one, creating more competition between servers instead of the current meta of stack wars.

SoR through IRON, EU and their NA now controls 15 hours of each day.

I know you think we’re stronger than SoR in non-NA hours, we are but JQ is strong between 7 and 12am GMT +8 which is 5 hours…

BG is strongest between 3pm and 12am GMT 8 which is 9 hours… Even if we manage to tick higher during these hours is makes no difference as we are ticking high… but everything is paper and to dedicate to take things on SoR BL will take an hour or more siege meanwhile SoR’s not to be scoffed at SEA coverage (AFS, NYS, HiRE, GSCH, Choo/NA remnants) is flipping our T1 back and forth, making it impossible to hold onto high ppt.

We are unable to upgrade anything in these 9 hours while SoR has T3 left over from EU > NA going into Oceanic. Currently SoR has their full map zerg sitting on BG Borderlands and doesn’t have to worry during oceanic about SoR BL because we are on the defensive all night. All while this is happening SoR is still ticking on a remnant 230-350 ppt which gets you easily over the line, all our work during SEA is simply flipped back due to SoR’s now massive EU and EST coverage.

The EU head start each day is destroying competition in T1 atm, maybe we will get a new EU guild but till then we’ll have to wait, but BG isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

I would also say, BG Oceanic is basically just MERC and NOC (PvX) 2 guilds, SoR has HiRE and Ocx.

Just a reflection on the current T1 situation.

However, I do suggest that you consider the overall coverage/skill of all T1 servers.

JQ still have the most coverage/skill in SEA time. Last night during SEA prime JQ had 300+ PPT at one point, skyrocketing the scores, Waha et al were still giving their 200%. JQ militia are still the most experienced of all 3 servers. JQ still has teeth, I for one will not write JQ off even at this point of time.

BG still has the strongest and probably the best organized Oceanic along with WM and other ex KN guilds fighting in SEA timezone. BG has also shown they are the only server have the willpower to push their Oceanic/Asians into EU time. The KN hardcore WvW guilds like RISE have pushed hard in NA time and made their mark in WvW. Most of JQ and SOR guys are playing casual time periods. Remember, BG won the tier in the last 2 weeks and BG still have the some manpower in their respective timezones.

I have spoken to some folks in the different servers, that one of the chief reasons that SOR is green this week was due to the fact that besides having IRON join SOR, BG didn’t have their vanguard forces pushing SEA and EU time. If they had, SOR chance of No. 1 would have been slimmer.

Going by the logic of splitting up the spearhead forces of SOR NA, then JQ SEA and BG OCN should be split up too.

FYI, I’ve also heard/read that BG and JQ are in the process of getting more EU and NA guilds in the next 1 or 2 weeks so more things might change.

Sure, those arrows don’t care if there is a door a wall in the way, but the user of the ac must see at least the wall. In order to have a competitive and fun T1 fights, we should encourage 1 another more than character assasinating other servers and wanting them to implode. Wanting them to implode simply means you do not want any competition I guess?

I understand and now you should think how many times and for how long SoR had to endure hearing all these things especially from BG…
We were always the underdog for 15 weeks in T2 and eversince BG came to T1 it was the same old song and dance. We were never taken seriously in this competition so please understand winning wasn’t expected. Everybody on SoR it’s just beyond happy this week and it is expected that some things get out of hand a bit.
I agree that we should start fresh and maybe BG will be the gracious winner in the weeks to come and set an example.

True but its a vicious cycle, I for one never chest thumped or looked down any server (except cheating). Everyone had their chance for glory but I urge everyone not to over do it.

Don’t underestimate MERC & WM, they worked hard to pull off a 2 week dominance in PPT by engaging both SOR and JQ in EU time. It’s real hard work and they have the tenacity to pull it off anytime they want. To the rest of us, BG ticking at 500ppt+ on GMT+8 6am was no illusion.

I don’t underestimate us I know exactly what we are capable of, I also know how burnt out I am and how much strain our guild is under covering these time zones. Also we had to do a CTA (call to arms) which was an unnatural occurace, we had 90/95% WvW attendance last night, which is good but also once again unsustainable.

The way I saw it the whole night you were in the strong position. We had 300 then 400 ppt even spiking 445 but this was due to JQ and EB not SoR. All of our holdings bar Bay on SoR BL and Garri/EB were paper, we did not gain any ground during this timezone only flipped it and ticked, this is not because we didn’t try to upgrade things this is because we spent all night jumping from one map to the next dealing with threat after threat at one point we jumped into hills on BG BL to save it, then didn’t even have time to repair the door before jumping in to save SM then back to SoR BL to save bay all in the space of 20 minutes.

I went to sleep at 3am last night after helping holding SoR BL down with a static 10 people outmanned for hours.

MERC even being awake during EU is an illusion of coverage, Ralikh and myself are our main late SEA commanders, Ralikh logs on later so that he can play EU doesn’t change the fact it is still 3-6am GMT+8 when he logs off, this is not sustainable by the time EU timezone rocks around MERC has been in WvW already for over 10 hours. Edit (I say main as this is our timezone, but often have GMT +10 East Coast Aus commanders up late as well…)

We flip towers/keeps, but as soon as we log out there is no real competition for IRON and SoR’s EU coverage. We really do care for our server, but we cannot keep pulling these shifts and the addition of IRON to T1 makes even overtime futile.

You are underestimating the power of having T3 keeps with 1700 supply going into Oceanic.

Do you not understand the continuous nature of WvW? What we are seeing at the moment is SoR’s strong NA from reset, passing t3 gains to their oceanic / SEA who are able to adequately hold onto forts due to it being T3 while BG/JQ’s are all T1 / building up to T2/wp (Bay in SoR last night). There is a major advantage in having a 1700 T3 waypointed structure in someone else’s borderlands this is how we used to effectively fight FoO and WM back in the SoS days and even more recently in BG.

Last night is a prime example of the dead zone / advantage of EU, MERC ND WM Meow etc all pushed after some significant gains by the end of NA by our NA passing to us T1/T2 structures which we spent all night defending / upgrading. MERC jumped maps more than 15 times last night in order to just hold onto what we have because it was all paper. All your SEA had to do was maintain 170-200 ppt and hold garrison / other footholds in maps, bang EU hits, dead zone bang back to 350+ ppt, SoR’s massive NA logs in on the offensive.

Yes SoR is riding the wave of enthusiasm we had last 2 weeks, but I really don’t understand how people who play WvW don’t get how much of an advantage for NA and Oceanic having a EU presence is, there’s a reason they are able to push 400 ppt in NA and sorry to burst your bubble its not because you are “more skilled” is a factor but not the ultimate reason why the points are allowed to go that high.

No one is gloating and no one from SoR is expecting a win, let alone an easy win.

SoR is still the smallest server of the 3, if BG or JQ pulls their guys out of PvE, it will be deadly for us.

That is a laugh, our NA has been out, but your NA is much bigger, your Oceanic when HiRE and OCX show up is the same size as MERC and SEA can compete due to the T3 structures, we pushed as hard as we could last night but there is no way, SoR is smaller than BG or JQ it is exactly the same size if not bigger due to the stacked nature of your NA.

Coverage wars 2 / Siege wars 2 has begun once again, well played SoR.

Edit: Sanghae, we received guilds in a much needed time slot to counter a competitive timezones where it was clear BG was outmatched (NA vs SOR and SEA vs JQ)… I know IRON’s decision was their own, but I think T1 is poorer for it, until T1 NA gets more euros the competition is basically gone from it.

SoR’s NA is only the strongest because they have the most NA players of all T1 servers. .

heh, this makes no sense. Since Tier 1 are all NA servers most of the player base will be logged on during NA timezones. You see it every week on reset when all 3 servers have queues for all the lands for long stretches at a time. For the first 6-8 hours on reset when no server can use the excuse for coverage everyone notices firsthand which side has the most skilled playerbase. But in the WvW weekly point score warfare, Quantity > Quality

Difference is queue sizes, BG NA is significantly smaller, that arguement doesn’t translate to reality, BG NA’s log off we lose queues, we lost our SoR BL queue this weekend after 5 hours, which i’m 100% sure SoR did not.

Name the SoR guilds and numbers vs BG NA guilds and numbers, you’ll laugh.
