It is quiet apparent over the last few weeks that JQ’s power has shifted and in this weeks match up it shows….

I’m confused now. I thought that JQ was the super server that SoR pipped from the top spot after they got transfers. But people here are talking about JQ not being good enough.

The score tells me that JQ will own any of the two T2 servers, even in a 2v1 scenario. I mean, right now JQ and DB are pretty much focusing on each other due to Raw’s big mouth, and BG has free reign. So we can’t judge JQ’s strength through the current matchup.

I’m curious… what is the relative strength of JQ and BG? Can someone not from SoR comment please?

BG generally has survived through its even coverage across all time zones while JQ has ridden the back of its large SEA for quite some time but now BG’s SEA has grown and the quality of commanders & guilds available on BG during SEA have dramatically changed the tide. Not to mention BG Oceanic due to MERC (not tooting our horn).

JQ still has the numbers, but they are mostly “militia” while BG has highly guilded forces.

I think the scores this week answers your question, you can say JQ is spending all its efforts on DB but in reality this isn’t the case as BG has owned more of DB and JQ BL than anyone. This same argument works both ways, in previous matchup SoR/BG/JQ when you look at being second placed server as BG is it gets focused by SoR during NA/EU (their strong points) then focused during SEA by JQ stuck in a time zone sandwich where in NA/EU JQ focuses BG as it doesn’t want to kitten SoR off then SoR will focus BG in SEA to avoid the wrath of JQ.

I will say in their current states, undoubtedly BG is stronger than JQ but time will tell.

Very random question… But any idea which of our servers has the largest W3 Anet employee population? Only ever seen an employee once who was an animator and that was in lobby for Wintersday jumping puzzle.

I know JonPeters and his crew play on SoR. I remember him talking about balancing in SoR LA and then later that day running with him and a few other Anet Devs in a WvW zerg @ EB

I remember that he was sitting in Anz and we mesmer pulled 3 anet devs off into WM lead group, they we’rent developed enough to survive.

Only emotes I ordered last night was when we were flipping SoR’s T3 bay in SoR BL.

I ordered everyone to cheer TKG on while they fought you when you tried to set up ninja siege behind us outside of bay on the hill only to be met with force by JQ.

Great bloody work tonight, tagged up 5:30 by 6pm had T3 hills in SoR BL flipped, another 30mins, SoR Bay another 30 BG bay! 3 t3 keeps in an hour and a half great work to the always amazing MERCs 300+ ppt until EU special shout out to all the scouts who made the saving calls.

But not possible at all without the support and work of the aforementioned guilds tagged down now 6.5hrs later nn to the lovely BG and always fun JQ.

Not to be rude, but all that video shows is your guild with a map zerg fighting outside your spawn twice (insta res and run back) vs ATM.

Your map zerg vs Thai and ND’s 30ish players.

PvDooring and holding a choke against a BG force pushing up stairs which based on the video looks like they wiped you and pushed you inside (hence the cut edit).

Not only that but the cut to the JQ it seems was pushed from behind by BG as there is a lot of BG tags coming up the stairs.

Nothing to be proud of in that vid.

Reset WvW every 8 hours, that would be fun, and have reports on who won that timeslot would be interesting, Tier 3 structures who needs them when you can fight in your PRIME!

It’s only almost 5pm PST. It’s been known for months that SoR is filled with NA East guilds which helps with the EU-Early NA trade off..

After all these months it’s now due to the Eastern Time zone guilds, haha.

I’m not sure why you find that “funny”. If you do, I think you haven’t had enough fun yet. Also, nobody said all credit should be given to their EST guilds. It is a fact that SoR tends to have more presence during early NA, but that tends to stabilize as the BG/JQ PST guilds zone into the maps. I’ll leave it up to you to analyze the past 2 hours.

So none of these guilds can fill that gap? I guess BG’s next round of recruitment will focus on that time slot eh?

From my count as an Oceanic/SEA commander you really know nothing about BG and our coverage do you? lol.

For one Lotd is an NA guild, same with JL and Urge, HB, Nine Dragon, NBB have been inactive for quite some time and XF hasn’t even transferred yet and are SEA.

And as to the “Numbers” arguement, SoR – Ocx, HiRE, SAHP, NYS, AFS – All capable of fielding numbers 20+ let alone the new additions of XPK, SYN so on. Disregarding the Tysm, TW, Choo et al awake during Oceanic/Early SEA.

OC: MERC 20-30 (take scouts from this number), Meow (5-15), NOC (5-10 on reset + 1 or 2 other days)

SEA: MERC 20-30 (take scouts), Never Die (10-15/20), WM (5-12), CA (5-12), Thai (10-20 in late SEA)

EU: RK 10-15, HB 5-10 (maybe?) MERC (uplate 1am-4am GMT+8) (1-5/10) (Batman<3 Ralikh)

As to NA can’t say much but to my knowledge BT is our only 100% EST guild, ICoa usually has commanders log early to cover.

Yes we have our dedicated militia following us around, but these are the numbers the guilds field.

There is a reason why when that 2v1 occured the other night inside SoR’s garrison they were still able to field 2 map zergs to defend both Overlook and SoR garrison. SoR is by no means outnumbered in SEA at all, anyone telling yourself that is not the sharpest tool in the shed, BG and JQ are just more aggressive. <3 Waha. BG fills whatever map MERC float is on and occasionally EB too during SEA.

@Offski, don’t give us that mate, you act like you don’t see the amounts of acs on every choke inside SoR’s T3 objectives, don’t act like BG/JQ doesn’t push inside only to be greeted by 20 ACs. Current meta does suck donkey, but don’t try and say BG spams ACs our current problem as a server is that we don’t put enough down like SoR does. (During Oceanic/SEA at least).

I’ve never seen MERC drop an AC in open field unless it is to kill Trebs in garrison or to kill enemy siege inside a keep / other side of a bridge.

Why wouldn’t we, albeit we had heaps of fun in SoR garrison last night, but watching you guys literally drain 1700 supply to build arrow carts over and over was amazing (not in a good way). Not to mention the 100 banner res’s on lord.

Server transfers bring out the drama, and the worst in people, best way to decide which server to go to is to remove emotion, remove the sales pitch and look at the servers.

Do you feel you could make most difference on DB, FA, JQ, SoS, BG, NSP, TC / do you already have good relations and positive relationships within said servers?

Guilds and servers will tell you the world in order to get you to go there when really the only thing that matters is coverage, your guild and your enjoyment of the game.

If you say so. I personally think its pretty skritthouse. Being outmanned on 3 maps almost 24 hours a day is fine for a while, then it just gets old. Trying to run havoc and every yak I come across has anywhere between 5-15 SOR players standing right near the yak, I try to flip a camp but I have to kill 10 mesmers first and then there guild mates who come running in for backup after Ive killed a couple of them. Sure, there are some fun fights, nothing like killing six players whilst running solo, but at the end of the day I think its pretty skritt.

Lol, so no siege counter to rams? That sounds smart XD. People who can’t handle AC’s are people unwilling to adapt, and they are those who are incapable of presenting even remote intelligence to place siege.

But last week I was in a situation where my team had 50 people, and the enemy server also had 50 people. They were camped inside a tier 2 Briar tower, their gate and walls down, they would not come out into open field to fight us, and when they did they would get wiped. Their strategy was to have 10 arrow carts inside the tower and hold a choke point going up the stairs. Charging inside was attempted and ended in suicide.

We then spent another 30 minutes using trebs, specifically aiming for and killing their arrow carts on top of the walls. However while doing this, they put the walls back up, and we had to get the walls back down, and then they would continue to build more carts as people with supply could sneak in 1 by 1. After a full hour of assaulting this tower, and when most of the carts were cleared (not for the first time) we had to get the wall down again, this time we charged and they still had a couple of arrow carts. The battle was very close as the numbers were even and they still had a couple of arrow carts, my team almost wiped in the lords room, but managed to rally and regain full health to down many of the opposition players, we capped it…just, after a lot of effort.

There was a lot more that happened, but I can tell you, for the 50 people that had to wait for the siege shots this entire time, it was a boring experience for them and it was not very fun. We were held by an inferior team that had equal numbers, terrain advantage, repairable walls/gates and easily built arrow carts.

Tell me, what would you have done in that situation? How would you have ‘adapted’? Do you find the above scenario fun?

So an even numbers where they have a fortification, choke point, and siege. They SHOULD have a huge advantage over you.
Now, as for adapting: Stop letting people with supply inside. Go take something else while they’re occupied. Like, say, the camp they’re running supply from.
Obviously the effort it took to beat them down was excessive, and a single tower isn’t worth all of that effort. Take something easier instead of mindlessly beating your face into the wall.

Anyone on any class with half a brain can sprint upto a tower and pop and invuln to get inside. Also you do know you can jump map grab supply from lowlands/overlook/valley and tele back (they had no camps and this was their last tower on map)

Your logic is not at all tactical there, yes lets jump off a map with a 50 man group inside briar, I wonder what they’ll do when we stop sieging that tower, oh right build trebs for bay or rush bay with golems / rams.

The point isn’t the tactics involved in sieging the point is the arrow carts being overpowered and unable to push them until all the arrow carts are down which means trebbing, in effect you are spending an hour+ of players time just standing around defending trebs because 10 people on a 1 mashing 2.4k death machine.

As a commander I was just sitting there expecting half my team to get bored and jump map, overly stressful and boring we all were just sitting there talking about how cool arrow carts were and how much we loved playing Siege Wars 2 from Vale.

Playing without ACs was amazing had many good open field pvp fights, equal numbers and superior commander came out on top. I even had the group we wiped pming me about how many bags they got and how much they loved the bug.

The “lower” tiers might like their AC wars, but for T1 and I would say most likely T2 it is not at all fun to watch someone be able to hold you at bay indefinitely not because of superior organisation or prowess but because they can sit a zerg on a bridge/choke with 10 acs ticking 2.4k on the choke meaning any push you instantly take 24k damage before even engaging the opponent.

MERC spent the whole night jumping maps defending and pushing open field combat it was an amazing night, had two float teams at one point (albeit small).

While pushing SoR lowlands and Garrison at same time, Waha pushed and flipped our paper BL only for us to flip back Garrison, Bay and Hills within one minute of each other.

BG SEA coordination was insane last night, well done BG!

Oh and Waha & ATM > best opponent ever <3 ya Waha.

I’m not well versed in the exact math going on with how the scores are adjusted each week, but this is more or less the effect of the method anet uses. If a server wins by 40k each week, their lead doesn’t increase, it actually stays about the same if I recall. You just can’t really see it in action as much because it operates on a macro level instead of in-match.

If you have a stagnant lead or win with a huge margin then lose you lose a lot of glicko.

I think he’s referring to ingame points on the tally board, you couldn’t do this as in tiers like T1-T3 the red/blue servers would always win (even with slight adv in point collation).

They could get into full servers easily. It’s not all that hard. There’s certain times of the day that they can get their members in.

After spending the last week refreshing the list, it’s easier to get in JQ than DB, BG and TC.

BG had 3 or 4 five minutes window to transfer from friday night up until today.

You can say iron “carries” or whatever, but even when you’ve consumed 6 other guilds you still struggled to place 2nd.

Well BG did come first the two weeks after RISE, WM and MEOW (think they are dead now, haven’t seen them in WvW for a while) transferred.

The reason why SoR climbed to first is the coverage IRON provides, enabling SoR to control the EU timezone in addition to NA (i.e. 2/3 of every day instead of 1/3 like they used to).

I would actually split it into 4 different timezones

NA, Oceanic, Asian, Euro

I’d classify it Euro > NA > Oceanic > SEA (SEA as the last time zone and EU as first timezone just as to how the cookie crumbles on NA servers)

“Oceanic and SEA” timezones are significantly smaller than EU and NA due to multitudes of timezones in those two that is why they are often rolled into one timezone because together they make up 9 hours while together EU and NA make up 15.

9 hours is based off 3pm-12am GMT+8 (as 3pm +8 is 5pm +11)

It’s just a shame that that other server just doesn’t show up anymore. And i’m even more sad for those 2 new guilds they just absorbed this week, they must feel like kitten.
