Hi, I’m also new like Cpl OMaley, and also have incredibly little in the way of knowledge and expertise in gw2 and MMO’s (the only thing I remember is that it’s ridiculously hard to come up with a good name that isn’t taken). The last time I played was over a year ago and the highest level I got to was 14 – quickly got bored without anyone to play with. I also joined a guild, but again, they were large, disorganised, mostly inactive, and most importantly everybody seemed to be doing their own thing. I particularly like the “new and returning people are welcome” culture you guys seem to have and would definitely like to join. However, I’m currently right on the brink of exams and the soonest I will be able to play is the 28th, and most likely the 1st as it’s a big download and I have a small download cap. Can chat via voice, don’t know what the 100% rep thing means, and will probably be pretty active. Also have a friend who may get guild wars 2 and will join at around the same time, same boat as me, knowing absolutely nothing.

Hi, I’m CPL OMaley, i’m fairly new to guild wars two and MMO’s in general. To give you an idea of where I stand my highest level is like 26. I started playing Guild wars two about nine months ago but wast on for the past four months due to work and other responsibilities. Recently though my schedule has become more steady and I am able to logon more frequently. Back when I first started out, I ran into a group of guys who invited me to join their guild. After joining I quickly realized that their guild was very large, unorganized and hard to do anything with. I am looking for a smallish guild that is well-organized and accessible. I want to be apart of a guild where I can learn, make friends and most importantly feel like part of a team not just a random group of people. In short I want to feel like I belong. I also hope to be in a position where with learning and proving of myself I can be promoted within the guild. The Naughty Room [NoTY] is a brand new guild on Fort Aspenwood! This is a newly formed guild by 2 irl friends who were tired of new players and returning players getting kicked to the curb and lost in the shuffle. This also a place for those wanting to improve their skill and game play but without the elitism environment.

We are a PvX guild and will plan more activities as we grow. Veteran leadership. None of your leaders are new to MMO’s or GW2. Personal teamspeak for socializing and event coordination. Veteran player who took a small break that recently came back. Spent 70% of my time in WvW with 30% in PvE. However I do have DM. Looking for a good group to join up with. PvX friendly or WvW focused is fine. I’m pretty open mined as far as the focus but I prefer small-medium sized guilds for the close knit atmosphere. I’m not opposed to joining a guild on another server with the new megaserver system. Just understand I’m not planning any transfers until seasons is over due to the WvW lockout.

I’m very confused on some of these builds. On your Celestial Bleed/Dmg build, I don’t get trait V in illusions. The only thing I see that would apply confusion is if you shatter with cry of frustration.

On your personal clone death build, scepter 2 inflicts torment. Then one of the rune bonuses is 2 stacks of torment on heal. But is torment inflicted through any other method? I always wondered about this when using the torment runes.

Just to be clear I’m not picking at your builds I’m just asking so I better learn and understand. Cheers!

It increases the length of scepter 3 by a decent amount causing people to condi clear or adding to great damage. The celestial build was just for fun but turned out nice in 1v1 and 1v2.
For the tormenters runes they increase the damage insanely on the block and you can use your heal in invis for aoe condi stacking. Pretty sure if a thief doesnt clean the torment on that build just the scepter block can wreck its hp pool.

My apologies….I didn’t see the scepter in the 2nd weapon set. Sometimes I’m blind LOL. Thanks for the info on the tormenting runes.

Heya Dark Night! It’s not just you; it’s really hard to find all three of those things. I’m incredibly introverted (more so outside the game than inside), and having a close-knit guild is really important to me because my guild mates tend to become my main friend-community. I think I’m in a similar space of being casual and semi-hardcore (sometimes I just like to log in and poke the Trading Post, but I’m also part of a closed Progression Fractals group — we’re only at 23, but we’re having fun).

Anyway! I really think Ember Solace would be a good fit for what you’re looking for. We’re incredibly close-knit (we talk about vacations we’re going on and post YouTube links of our dance performances and Santa even visited us and gave each member a small gift from the gem store). We genuinely care about each other. Many of us go by real names or nick-names other than our screen names, and we share pictures of our pets, and one of our members is even looking into starting up a D&D campaign with some people.

We’re also active. Everyone doesn’t log on every day (and I’m about to go on vacation for six days, lol), but we have people who are online doing stuff and who like to group up together. Many of our members are new to the game, so some of the more experienced members have been helping them with things like story quests and their first dungeons. We ran someone through AC: EM last night (and not a speed run for tokens, but a thorough run, even including Lt. Twirly-Pants, even when some of the new people had a little trouble and we wiped a bit), and it was a lot of fun. Also, we require 100% rep (with the exception of personal storage guilds and TC Commendations once a week for those who need/want comms while we’re working on unlocking Guild Missions), which means we all get to know each other instead of flitting between other guilds.

If you’d like to learn more about us, we’ve got the standard recruitment post, plus you could stop by our guild forums and read our Purpose and Principles statement. We do have a short application, but it’s designed to help build that sense of community with members and make sure we’re a good fit for players and the players are a good fit for us. I know you’re on Blackgate and we’re on Tarnished Coast, but you could always guest if you decide we fit what you’re looking for. And if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them. =) I’m going on a mini-vacation before the semester starts back up (I teach at a community college), so I won’t be in game for the next few days, but I’ll be checking in with the forums and such.

I’m unsure of why this seems like an impossibility but I am looking for a guild home that is close knit, active & members represent. That’s all I’m looking for. Can be big or small. Just those 3 key elements need to be there. I don’t care what great achievement your guild has achieved. I don’t care how many guild missions you unlocked. I don’t care how many buffs you run 24×7. In the end, none of that matters. What matters is that you have good people to run with and call your friends & guild mates. So I guess you could say I’m looking for a community.

Let me tell you about me. I float between casual & semi-hardcore. I play daily. Most of my GW2 time has been spent in primary WvW guilds so I’m extremely experienced there. However WvW is not a requirement. I just mention it so you understand my experience level on things. I’ve done some PvE but hardly any fractals. I do have my dungeon master achievement so not completely inexperienced. I have done very little sPvP at this time. However I enjoy doing pretty much anything with the right group. It’s more about the experience to me then spamming through pressing #1 the entire time.

So please have read this thoroughly before responding. Because I will ignore a wall of text listing your achievements and upgrade list. I want to know about your community.

I really am a nice guy. Just not sure if what I’m looking for exists out there. Let me know here, pm on forums or in-game email. Please no stray whispers. It can be distracting in the middle of a dungeon or easily overlooked while in WvW and I don’t want to miss your reply.

Just about everything that you stand for fits perfectly with VZ, though we don’t use a website because I don’t like forcing users to post or use on-site applications or basically jump through hoops to enjoy in-game content. We also PvE a lot more than we WvW, though we definitely do both. I’m putting this at the beginning of my post in case any of it is a deal-breaker for you, and I want you to be aware.

Anyway, VZ is a medium-sized PvX guild on the Stormbluff Isle server. We run weekly guild bounties, run every dungeon in-game based on our mood at the highest possible skill-level (we have many dungeon masters), run L48 FotM, and WvW every so often based on our mood. Essentially, the guild’s activities are based around what the players feel like doing, so in that sense it’s casual, yet hardcore as well because we insist on being excellent players in all things we do. We’re looking for cool people willing to chat, enjoy themselves, be a little proactive, represent, and in general just be a good friend. Judging from your post, this sounds like a good fit for you, but you are the final judge of that. If you’d like more details about the guild, you can check the link in my signature, as it covers pretty much everything. Having people undermine your decisions sucks, and you wouldn’t have that problem in VZ if you ascended in the ranks. You also wouldn’t be forced to change servers right away unless you wanted to; you are more than welcome to run with us and represent and get a feel for it first!
