Play GW2 as it should be, with a controller!

I had initially thought about going with a controller because I’m much more of a traditional console gamer (though I have played MMO’s for over 12 years)… then… I ran across this gem.. the logitech g600 mouse… http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104674&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Mice-_-N82E16826104674 … 20 buttons, I have every single function I need to use mapped to the side pannel and never have to use my keyboard except to type nor do I even have to bother using my left hand, leaving that open for channel surfing. Now that’s relaxing

This can be solved in about 3 steps.

1. Join a medium sized HELPFUL guild.. The reason I say this is because a lot of people don’t even have their local or map chat on in many cases because they have guild/party chats up because those are the people they constantly socialize with. Just don’t bombard them with questions at first because that can be quite obnoxious (though an initial question or two can really help you judge just how helpful the guild will end up being), just be polite about it and kinda let them bring you into the fold. Join in on guild activities, ask for suggestions on how you can improve and most importantly make connections with other players because the more close friends you have the easier it is to get by in this game whether it be asking questions or maybe exchanging materials or borrowing stuff.

2. Elementalist is too squishy for you? Make a warrior or guardian (I much prefer warrior) to learn the finer points of the game (dodging, kiting, casting and attacking while staying mobile) because they have dramatically better means of staying alive for a new player. Then switch back to ele when you have a better handle of those basic mechanics.

3. As for WvW, I would reference this http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_vs_world it should have all the info you need to begin your experience in WvW.

hope this will help, good luck and happy hunting!

Molten Jetpack invest?

Magnus Steelgrave.6580

The time to invest was the first day when they were selling for ~60g, it’s a bit late to get into the market now with the big tax hit you will take making it an even smaller margin… plus something else new will end up coming out and demand for them will begin to dwindle. Cause you know they’re gonna keep coming out with more and more back pieces and probably sooner than later something even more aesthetically pleasing will come along.

4. People who wish to keep their dye sets on their main complete. These are generally collectors and already fairly wealthy people who will have no real issue buying these up at a higher price.

Stop putting skins in black lion chest

Using the fused weapons as an example. we will say roughly 3g per key… and we can give it a rough (and fairly high % if you ask me) of a 2% drop rate from the chest… Now I’m all for allowing the merchant to sell them straight for gold because then it also is acting as a gold sink… but if that merchant is selling for less than 150g each (3g x 50 attempts average to get your ticket) then I’m not a fan. The game needs gold sinks like this.. just let merchants sell the new skins for a couple hundred gold (because this is essentially what people are investing to acquire them) and completely remove the gold from the economy, and you can keep them in the RNG chest of doom there also so that people that want to play the lottery and pump more money into anets pockets can do that as well.

…just don’t make them cheap… the last thing this game needs is more cheap skins.

EDIT: also the above figures are just rough estimates using easily manipulated numbers to display my point that people are going to have to pay out their kitten to get something straight from a merchant that was previously RNG, though I do support that.

I’m fairly sure they will be unobtainable aside from through buying previously recieved dyes from the TP and of course its going to spike, drop, then plateau and stay stable there like the rest of the limited time content has so far. As for how much more expensive they will get than they already are, I have no way of telling that. But if you plan on buying I can only figure the prices are going to keep going up for a little bit.

Edit: several of them jumped significantly in price (30-100%) yesterday so I’m assuming more people are realizing they’re about to be taken out and are trying to invest in them before they get too horribly priced.

How about paid bragging rights for players?

I like parts of the idea… personally I would like to see it where there is an NPC that you could pay a hefty amount of gold (around a legendary’s price) to have a citizen in LA in an area of your chosing named after you on your server. Of course since there is a finite amount of citizens it will have to be an obnoxious amount of gold.

Who is still waiting for "Guild Halls"

LA is hardly used to find groups now that there are websites out there that are much more efficient about it so I fail to see how it will hurt the community though I do understand the argument against it. Then there’s also no more “omg what weapon/armor is that, can i have 5g please?” or obnoxious other spamming from other players. And since I can’t kick people from the game for begging me for money, but I can kick guildies from the guild for begging (not that we have ever had this issue), that makes me look all the more forward to having them.

Also, given all the guild specific content being added (trek, rush, challenge, bounty, puzzle)… shouldn’t guilds participating in these events have somewhere they can gather without interruption from public trolls? And also this way guild chat isn’t clogged, for those not participating in the activity, up with unnecessary BS from the far greater than party of 5 people that are heading off to these activities nor does it then force a large group onto vent either.

Even without crafting stations, merchants, etc… I still would be greatly looking forward to the guild hall.

Why can’t you just sell us stuff straight up? What is the deal with all this lottery nonsense? Why do you keep doing it when people keep complaining about it? I just don’t get it. It makes absolutely no sense. This is one of the main reasons I am on the verge of quitting this game.

Anet would make less money this way. This way they can either get people to spend their hard earned money on gems or remove gold from the economy by having them spend gold on gems. Either way for Anet it’s a winning situation and I’m sure they enjoy it that way.

We closed a serious but not-widespread exploit, and banned those accounts that performed it and those that received or stored the wealth they generated.

While performing the bans, we made a mistake and additionally banned some unrelated accounts. We identified the mistake and unbanned those accounts.

For those still banned, if you wish to appeal, you may submit a support ticket and the team will examine your case.

Thank you for the response Gaile. I am still kind of in limbo, I’m not sure if I’m still banned or not cause im getting a “Your Free Trial Account Is Currently Inactive” error… I have submitted an update to my ticket 130418-000056 including my serial code. I am just curious if anyone else is currently having this issue as well.

So what's the deal?

clipped…

I see what you’re saying, but I’m not saying to take SAB out forever, nor am I saying to NEVER re-release these skins… I’m just saying I like having it for say only april each year… new players will get to play it in april just like the rest of us, we all had to wait 8 months too.. no reason they cant wait a while as well and then its all the more enjoyable once you can finally play it. As for the weapons I think it’s nice if they went in a cycle, released the other weapons next year, the year after maybe a set of armor.. the year after that they can start re-release… I just think that it’s better if you can’t just get everything you want right away, it just makes you enjoy it all the more once you finally get what you want rather than just having it and then be like… meh… and get bored of it after a week and move onto the next thing. To feel the need the be entitled to everything right away or to be entitled to everything gw releases as “special” permanently is the height of childishness. Some things are meant to be special/limited, holidays would lose value too if we celebrated them every day keep SAB special, keep it annual.

So what's the deal?

in Super Adventure Box

Magnus Steelgrave.6580

I like the idea of one time only skins, if you keep an extra event like this around forever and the skins with it then it loses any sort of value and the side event also becomes stale even with added content. But if they only come back once a year with this with new content and different skins the whole thing remains fresh and gives you something to look forward to as well.

My feeling is the outrage too over not having enough time to farm the skins you want is highly laughable… you can farm enough bauble bubbles for a skin in around 5-6 hours.. you have 20 days… thats plenty of time to farm a couple of skins, you just need to sacrifice time from your current playing to do SAB. Even then if you can’t farm the skin you want… farm the most expensive one you want and then buy a couple at the end of the event if you cant make them.. yes the prices are going up now but there’s still 20 days of hardcore farmers who are going to yet again over-saturate the market with these skins dropping the price down another time or two before any permanent rise sets in.

Lastly, for those who haven’t started playing yet. From experience, you can rarely go into an MMO that has any sort of special events and expect to acquire everything from that event without having to either have been there or pay a pretty penny. It’s just one of those sad hard lessons you learn when gaming. The fact of the matter is, they’re offering something that’s true potential and popularity could never be attained by keeping it around permanently. By bringing it back annually they keep people looking forward to that time of the year and to see what new will come out… not just have wild expectations of month after month of updating it and trying to waste their time on developing something that is just an add-on. Whereas by making it annual they don’t have to waste the man-power on something that will go stale in a couple months, they can waste it on attempting to fix the other broken parts of the game that desperately desire more time spent on them.
