Forgive me if I’m wrong but isn’t the entire point of wvw and pvp to kill the opposing threat and take their loot and cap points?
Yeah, they changed it, I believe on Friday (a fellow forumer let me know in game). I have a feeling it’s due to preparation for people to complain…. Because if it is to do with account bound dyes, wardrobe, etc, then people are going to freak out because of their multiple purchases and the like.
But eh. I’m really excited for the blogs!
I dunno what is wrong with me today, all full of optimism and hope, but I was keeping my fingers crossed the account bound part would be an announcement that they were getting rid of the whole soul bound bullkitten and going only with account bound as a binding. I can dream though I suppose.
It was probably someone trying to rally more for the claw since the trains generally stop for world bosses then resume face rolling.
I love how its only 2/3 of the way thru the month and people are expecting everything good to have already been released… patience people there’s 10 days left.
That’s generally just life in an mmo. If you don’t start at launch youre going to miss out on a lot of opportunities and there will be a disadvantage (however large or small) because of it… its just how the games work.
Except for the tiny trifling detail that Scarlet’s Kiss is one of the ugliest things claiming to be a rifle in the game and the Rainbow is a white outline of where a Kiss should be.
Tastes vary, but wow…
Just happens to be one of only a hand full of rifles that are well… rifle sized or bigger.. people have a tendency to drift towards bigger gaudier things because it makes them more noticed… I bet it will sustain a fair value for both but I don’t expect them to go much above 700/500 respectively… at least for a very very long time…
Its a waste of time compared to other farming methods… no big deal if it happens.
So pretty much make it so that melee can just stand there and chop at bosses like a tree? While ranged gets more boned aside from the fact that they’re already dealing less damage?
Seriously why make a boss people already like into another tequatl disaster. What they should do is take bosses no one cares about (megadestroyer, covington, foulbear) and make them more annoying.. not one in a starter zone.
Its been requested for a while with the royal terrace as you mentioned but I doubt they’ll fix it… they put a mild extra convenience or 2 on the airship in comparison to the terrace so my best guess would be for the next permanent pass the marketing will go something like this… “explore the scenic wonder that is the grove treefort, and don’t get kicked off after login – 1200 gems”
Skins will never be P2W. Obviously you’re misusing the term.
Don’t.
Pay to win is different for every game and person. If the goal of the game is too look pretty (like GW2, since vertical progression is basically non existant), then skins are indeed pay to win. The argument that pay to win is buying statistical advantages only, is old and busted.
And calling being pretty winning is honestly just ignorant… no one is winning anything because they bought a pretty skin. I’ve looked at every definition of the word win and winning online and in a paperback dictionary and NOWHERE does it say anything about being pretty… you don’t get an award, there’s no a net fashion show, its not attributed to finishing first by any matter of any logic… this is easily the most ridiculous argument I’ve seen on the forums the past couple months. If people have different definitions of winning then they definitely aren’t speaking English.
OP, would you still want a race change contract if it reset your personal story, forced you to replay the first part of your personal story (for your new race) and also removed item rewards for finishing personal story chapters up to the level you have already done on your first race?
Yes… also they can feel free to delete all my cultural stuff too while they’re at it… just leave me my extra bag slots please.
all this complains here are going to lead to more nerfs, by the time you learned how to play, the advantages and tools are gone because of complains.
first thing you notice here is that imo, people dont want to learn to play something different, they want to play what they had in mind instead of what is available and understanding things and mechanics.
because you dont know, doesnt mean other people must not know. if you dont know, find out and learn. there will be no progress in wanting what you want all the time. instead go out and look around, take some advices and work with it or evolve it.
maybe im wrong but, most people only complain about things because they dont feel superior in what they do or want or play etc.
dont really understand why people like to cut off their own legs or arms before they even learn how to use them, later on when u regret it, will be too late and nothing can be done to solve it.
that feeling of… meh….. when you see a scepter guardian doing pve….
and also the feeling of meh…. at wvw being rally baits…
I felt pretty much the same way reading the OP and the OPs replies… seems like a pretty standard case of “I am bad at thief, make it so someone else melees and takes all of the attention so I dont have to bother with actually playing well and just in case have a designated healer waiting to keep me alive” kinda thing we see weekly.
I already spend a decent amount on the gem store… I would imagine that would at least double though if they made the skins more than a one time use.. I’d probably buy them all just to have them.
unique aesthetically.
In most countries this is a euphemism for ugly.
The grinning gourd is aesthetically unique as well. It’s green. It’s a… rifle.
But in the guild wars universe people like extremely large gaudy things like this even if it can only be used by 25% of the classes. And making a holographic one only makes it that much better for most.

While it’s true everyone is free to interpret how the term “P2W” means, there’s only one true meaning, thus making everyone’s interpretation wrong.
In Asian gaming cultures, Paying 2 Win is a way to reward players prestigious or powerful items if they spent real money on the game. A powerful sword, an exclusive game card, extra HP, access to exclusive areas, etc. These offerings are not made to non-paying players. This business strategy forces people to have to spend real money in order to get the “VIP” treatment.
P2W is not a convenience . P2W is Paying to Win. The term “win” is also not open to interpretations. In PvP, winning means you defeated your opponents. In PvE, winning means you killed the boss. When a game company offers an item that makes “winning” easy, and these items can only be obtained through real money purchases, then the game is P2W.
Here are questions to determine if something is P2W:
1) Does it give you a statistical advantage in game?
2) Does it cost real money?
3) Is it only available to paying players?
If the answer to all three questions is “yes”, then it’s P2W.Guild Wars, and Guild Wars 2 has never been, and hopefully never will be P2W. Having a fancy armor skin is not “winning”, as it fails #1. Running faster for an hour is not “winning”, as it does not count towards #1 since combat nullifies speed boosts. +5% damage or defense boosters? Oooooh that can be considered P2W. BUT, it fails #3, as all players are able to access this via Gold to Gem exchanges.
The Chinese GW2 comes close to P2W, but I don’t think they crossed that line yet. We’ll find out soon when official launch comes, and the Gem Store offerings are made public.
Please by all means reference this " one true meaning". Given your whole premise is based from it, I would assume you have access to it.
Basically anything that gives statistical advantage over someone else while only being able to be obtained by cash as opposed to cash or gold.
Ever consider that since names are at a premium unlike a characters looks, that it is worth more, in fact a lot more given how RARE a given name is.
For those that aren’t up to speed on it, a name can be taken only once, as it becomes locked across all servers. So yea, i think the higher cost is warranted.
Not only for that reason, but i also have no sympathy for people that name their character(s) <stupid name here>. If it was that important to the person to worry about the name, just maybe that should have been considered from the start. You want the ability to change <stupid name>, pay for it and quit griping, personally I’d think you need to go with the delete option, but that’s just me.
(Can you tell i have a hatred for people with stupid names?)
I fully agree and this is the only reason I don’t think the price is absurd… Also I almost never +1, especially rants, but I think I have to make an exception.
You realize that a “transparent guild bank” still can only hold 3k gold…. So after you have more than a handful of people using it how exactly will the money be stored?
10 g won’t break your bank and there’s nothing honestly of use to spend the heirlooms on otherwise so why not just buy it? If not you’re just wasting your heirlooms.
Con – Defeats the purpose of Dragonite: to require players to participate in larger [Group] activities to access ascended tier crafting.
So you want to force player’s to do content they may not want to do?
I thought the entire point of this game was to play how you want to play or at least that’s what people on these forums who consistently defend GW2 say.
I am in favor of this because it allows people who have NO interest in farming the same boring events over and over a different way to get the same thing.
It seems we have been playing a different game than the other… Cause this is pretty standard… Like i have had EVERYTHING to complete my 2 legendaries since July last year except the dungeon tokens because I really dislike dungeoning… So here I sit with months worth of work only to never be completed because they force me to do dungeons to finish and not realizing how much I despised them before I got to that point… In any case it’s pretty standard, by their terms, how they’re handling things.

There’s a couple suggestions I like… like the world bosses being scaled properly to not take 15-20 minutes or the dyes being account bound and weapons being dyable, but a lot of the stuff is just making easy parts of the game easier… harvesting is already easy no need to remove even more mobs. And the mystic forge automatically upgrading would have devastating effects on the economy…
It’s a good idea minus the previous LS drops… Aside from the account bound things of course.
…if they’re getting killed by a ram you’re not doing a real good job escorting are you? Maybe the kitten ram is the reason they needed an escort.
As long as the players still get taxed I’m fine with it… Game needs a gold sink like the tp though and using it to just circumvent that I don’t support.
I want an expansion because I would like to see one of the other continents… but above all I dont want to live through another season of the LS if its anything like this years was… I would gladly pay for an expansion in exchange for no more LS. And to clarify by expansion I mean not just some little chunk added onto the original game I mean an expansion true to guild wars original nature that is essentially a stand alone game that can be linked to the other games.
A stand alone I would not like to see, why would you want a stand-alone? You can add in all the same amount of content without it being standalone. I don’t really see the benefit, only negatives compared to a normal expansion.
It doesn’t need to be but I meant in terms of quantity of content where as if they were to just do an expansion I would gamble they would just stick to filling out the current map which isn’t what I want.

While I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with your proposal I just wanted to point out you can just as easily open the hero panel and change the skills there as well.
The thing is if they played gw1 then unique to them probably is just a word… http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Item_rarity …. this shows green labeled items in gw1 were “unique” but I had at least 3 presearing characters with multiple charr bags and this problem never arose… so for those saying it should be common sense… anyone who played gw1 may argue otherwise.
It will keep destroyed, nature and wild life will take over and will end becoming the lvl 1~15 map of the Tengus.
LA will be rebuilt with access to guild halls, GvG arenas, and personal housing.
This may be even better
That’s my bet is the 1-15 zone for tengu. It took them months to fix the statue it would take a thousand years at that pace to fix the entire city.
Magnus….this is true……I do not mean to imply that the items would be bought back at the full price listed, just those were the only numbers I had. I would say that a “buyback” (for lack of better phrase) of about 1/3 would be fair.
I had figured as much but thought I would throw that in… it would just be nice to clear out some of the clutter I can’t get myself to just destroy.
I fear, people highly underestimate the potential effect of ESO on GW2.
The reason there will be no big content updates in April is probably, that everyone at ANet is going to play ESO to learn at least from AvA.
I SERIOUSLY hope they aren’t trying to learn from ESO because I played the beta for a bit now and it is absolute garbage if you want to call it an mmo… if you wanna call it a single person online strategy game with other people around then by all means play ESO… I have a feeling the biggest share of people who bail on gw2 for it will be back or have wentto try something else within 1-3 months
It’d be a good idea if the buyback was say… 1/3 the gemstore price.
The whole reason I want one is because its quite literally the ONLY way we will ever see new armor in the game (aside from future legendary which will probably be reskins with fire effects) outside of the gem store.
We like to use the first 50 slots for anything expensive and to stash gold in and only our leaders and the 4 other people with the rank just below them can access it. It has made it so we have only had one mild theft situation in the last year or a little more.
Maybe if there wasn’t 3 of the same topic on the front page a net could stop wasting time merging and more time releasing the helm
The problem is that it cost so much to get the 3 back then the gem cost of this 3 pack would be something ridiculous like 8000 gems because of having to get luck enough to have gotten all 3 twice and used one set to forge foofoo. it would be nice if they just unbound them and allowed us to sell them… I have 2 extra foostivoo I have zero use for :/
It will be back I’m sure… They probably want to break up the good march deals with awful ones as to not spike the gem price harder than it already does.
For the umpteenth time, if this is implemented put a toggle for players to disable the option to participate and I won’t care.
Whut?
Who would make a dueling system save that it have an accept and decline option respectively? That would be broken and lazy.
Diablo 2… Walk into game, use party’s tp… Set up own tp… Go back to town and set self to hostile… Destroy everyone.
And no inspect option because it’s no ones business what I have equipped. They can see quite plainly what skins I’m using and that’s more than they should know anyway… I liken the inspect to someone peeking over the wall into the next changing room at a department store, it’s just creepy.
(edited by Magnus Steelgrave.6580)
Would be a nice convenience for sure
If the key prices… Like almost every consumable item on the gem store…. Weren’t so ridiculously over priced (should be 50 gems max for a single key) then people wouldn’t bother key farming.
@ OP if you can find indirect ways of making things which are profitable I’ve always found those ways to be the best. Also patch days are $.$
these posts always make me a little sad. I work patch days. patches go live at like noon I believe? basically, I’ve always been 5 hours late to the party. There have been only a couple patches I was able to profit from.
I feel your pain there… Missed out on so many easy opportunities.
I got a ban during that scare around the time SAB got released and was one of the large portion that got reinstated… Buy orders and sell orders were still there waiting for me… Hope that helps.
Thanks.
I wonder though, how big the impact would be, if they removed all the buy orders and sell listings from botters/exploiters/gold sellers, that got banned.
The way I’ve always seen it is that buying those guys items is a gold sink so that’s good. But they could have just as many buy orders too… In any case I’m sure their listings either don’t stay up long or they get buried so deep most won’t be seen again.
Why they would waste time that kind of kitten? Idea is play game not sit inside some house. Weird thing is that people are interest some houses. In Russian game allods you could buy own ship and sail on special zones with party. Well system was total kitten, but at least it was more interesting than some housing system.
I’m cool with whatever they could implement that will house me and those I select and keep the rest out while adding city conveniences. And why not invest time in this… Better than more Zerg content.
Something I have been begging for since launch was guild halls.. Destroying LA at least gives me a little glimmer of hope for them since the major hub is now just a burning pile.

Just work some overtime and convert it to gems then to gold… Overtime in most any job will trump whatever grinding you have to do and will make the game feel much less Grindy as you will only be playing stuff you like and not turning the tp into a second job whos income can’t surpass your real one… Plus it makes you look good to your boss putting in all the extra hours.
uhm… and whats the average price and time of crafting an ascended weapon?
Ive been reading that you need lots of dragonite ores and similar items who have so restricted drop..
Its really that hard to craft it?Thanks for your assistance guys!
For crafting just say about 200g from 0-500, maybe a week to 2 weeks gathering materials if you don’t grind them out, and maybe another 50g to make the weapon… That’s for ascended… Now legendary… 2 professions crafted to level 400 which is about 30-40g depending on profession and the precursor itself can be between 80 and 800g depending on popularity of that type of weapon… Then a stack of each t6 material which is about 650g and you still have to factor in doing all world completion and making those kitten clovers so you need about 1 million or more karma as well… Just stick to ascended

Achievements that require almost superhuman care in timing attunements and ranged damage, because meleeing is 90% discouraged throughout the entire event, are not primarily going to get players to play it as you had intended. They’re going to leech the map, get their tags, and stand in a safe spot the rest of the fight. This puts everyone else at a disadvantage.
Just wanted to comment on this specifically. It doesn’t require superhuman care. Just a little bit. Turn off auto attack, watch your buff bar, proceed as normal. I got both the attunement and laser achievements doing the boss “as intended (ranging was probably intended merely due to the damage lasers can cause standing up close).” It’s just people are lazy and don’t want to do any work. If anything, ANet should close up methods for people to be lazy. Besides ensuring the achievement unlocks correctly, there’s nothing really wrong with them (besides being group-temporary and the laser insta-deathing you if you spawn at the wrong time).
Except the event is timed and if you’re seen running around not attacking (because you can’t safely get to an attunement aoe because you value not taking damage by a giant purple stripe on the ground or getting one-shotted by a non-telegraphed random stomp by the hologram itself), you’ll get yelled at and ridiculed for “leeching”.
So you get what you can and launch your attack in earnest, while avoiding attacks, and oops there goes your attunement in mid-volley or grenade toss. Oh well, next time a full server is able to kill all three knights, you’ll get another shot at it.
Mmhmm.
So you can’t avoid the giant red circle that pops up like 5 seconds before the stomp or are you too stubborn to turn on the aoe thing under options because that’s not “your way of playing”? And you can’t be troubled to look at your buff bar to pay attention to when your attune meant runs out so you can be right by the circles to recharge? Come on now guys this is a ridiculously easy encounter if you would bother to pay the least bit of attention to it. The ap situation is unfortunate yes and I’m sure will be fixed in a couple days but there is seriously no reason to complain about these incredibly easily dodged attacks.
-snip-
The real problem is with the design, not with the players. Players are predictable and easily guided. The reason Marionette was such a success and drove a lot of players to participate is that it had achievements that encouraged them to do well in the fight and to know the mechanics… Not considering the power core grind, anyway.
I hope you were contributing and not arguing with my post, because that’s what I basically said in the post in a condensed form
Many people seem to have read the title and then skipped to commenting on why zergs and AFK achievements are ok and why I am bad as I “force” people to do content they do not want. Please understand that my post is about the reasons why people prefer to zerg and AFK and solutions to these problems, and not a rage/grief post.
Here’s a solution since I provided nothing of value earlier… They could just halve the achievement points and give no loot for those dead or didn’t tag with enough damage when it’s rewarded… That way they get their achieve but less points than people who actually did the work… Points will be rounded down of course in the event of a partial point. And for those complaining about dying… Seriously… Mechanics are real straight forward in almost every encounter in this game… Get better… It shouldn’t be no moving and 11111 everything anyway… The player base as a whole just needs to step it up a bit.
