One can only figure they’ll release the other pieces but I don’t think there’s been any official word on the other ones yet.
Guild Wars 2: Colin Johanson PAX 2013 Interview
Watch starting from 8:30
Colin Johanson: “We don’t want a half-kittened version of Guild Halls.”
All I can say is: wait until Arena Net released the polished version of Guild Halls and Player Housing.
They have been saying they dont want kitten guild halls since last november… thats also when they put it on the back burner for living story garbage… GH > more living story stuff IMO
(edited by Moderator)
lol guild halls in 6 months for 2000 gems from the store
I’d GLADLY pay 4000 gems/200g for it even…. they just need to hurry the hell up with it.
I actually paid attention to this at first and picked my responses carefully. Then I realized it didn’t do anything. For example the heart in Queensdale with the Ettins where you talk to them and pick a response based on personality. I thought picking responses based on my characters personality would lessen the likelihood that they would fight me. It didn’t. Now I just click stuff real quick to get to the point.
That’s exactly where I stopped caring about it as well, now all the fast clicking has labeled me a scoundrel… I’m alright with that.
I’m waiting for new Legendaries to be honest. Of course that’s probably a long ways off.
The longer I wait the more pessimistic I get about this… Something tells me the new legendaries are going to just end up being trinkets or something like that…
Well, you can stay on the forums complaining.. which will do little to no good and just waste your time… or you could have taken the 4 hours of perusing the forums (excuse me if you may be at work) and have done 3 invasions and with that gold have completed a 400 level crafting profession in the other hour… hell it probably wouldn’t even have taken you that long to do both things…
While I agree on hating crafting as it is a very tedious and let’s be frank.. boring.. part of the game, it’s a much better route than just putting em up for laurels/tokens/badges or something silly like that again. In a way it kind of helps to level the playing field between newer players and older ones alike. But that’s just my opinion.
Was a real sad panda when I couldn’t use pistols on my warrior… I’m not sure if his fingers are too fat for them or what but I would really appreciate a change in that.
Unfortunately, no, I’m not. I only wish there were a ‘report’ option on that mail. I didn’t ask for charity and if I were to, I surely would not be asking for such a useless item.
What a sorry state today’s youth is in.
Indeed it is… quite ungrateful nowadays.
Southsun isn’t half as rewarding as these invasions are… so long as a-net keeps nerfing other farms the invasions will constantly be swarmed IMO
Umm… forgive me if I’m wrong or misreading this… but if you just want to maintain your gold’s value… wouldn’t you just keep all your money in your wallet? It won’t ever change there. Or if you’re looking to invest it into items so you don’t spend it then maybe create a guild and research a guild bank and stakitten there?
Another one of THESE threads. Theres already one on the front page, not to mention these ideas are terrible, stop trying to make farming harder than it already is. It’s not hard to dodge the red circles stop dying, if you do oh well WP and come back…
Oh and btw you aren’t getting a res bc standing still = death, not because ppl are focused on farming, use your brain.
I agree with a fair part of this. While I do try to rez downed people as much as possible there would be ALOT less downed people if players would realize they have to put a little more effort into their gameplay during these events by staying mobile and not just leeroying into the champ mobs.. people aren’t rez’ing you because they’re missing out on loot, at least in my case, I’m not rez’ing you (on the occasion I don’t) because you have a pile of enemies on top of you and didn’t bother to try to move away when you were dying. People just need to step it up a little bit.
Another tip… do these events with guildies and friends so you always have someone to have your back…
Pins should be far more expensive, because everyone and their grandmother can afford one, but also give some sort of bonus for being the commander like some sort of squad siege bonuses or something like that
While I do like the idea that you have to go through some sort of activity to get a vendor for shards to show up… I don’t like that it’s balthazar with the infrequency of it actually being done, the merch should be tied to something that is done a little more freqently like some of the dragons or something.
could be people hoarding mats in speculation as well as opposed to selling them + regular amounts of people buying + more speculation = higher prices.
@OP. I’m sorry your experience with the zerging and your friends attitude change since then but it is something that a large part of the community has been requesting for a while now. It’s nice there is finally a way to farm that’s fairly lucrative and not a dungeon. I’ve found it’s much more enjoyable when you go with a bunch of people you know, then you generally always have someone to rez you even if the zerg sprints off. While I do understand your concerns with other aspects there’s also this to consider… with the lack of real farming opportunities up until recently of course people are going to go all out and get burnt out farming because it hasn’t been commonplace to be able to do so… after a while things will settle back down and people will farm more as a passtime than a means to an end. All I know for sure though is that I’m happy to finally be able to go out and actually get a fair amount of loot for a change and that’s something I don’t wanna see go away.
I haven’t personally checked, but I was under the impression that all of the skins available from the Black Lion Weapon Specialists were available for the BL chest scraps. If that is not the case then please disregard my previous posts.
The BL vendor still differntiates between tickets. So, unless they change that, the new BL tickets aren’t valid currency for the older items.
keeping my fingers crossed they do change that too… 6 jade tickets are begging to be used on fused skins.
The trading post text alert programs are kinda like text alert programs people use for fantasy sports… They’re perfectly legal but they ruin the integrity (or whats left of guild wars 2 TP’s integrity……… yeah… anyway…) of your fantasy league by making it so people don’t have to pay any actual live attention to the league or TP, just jump to attention and hop on whenever they get a text… is it legal, yes… kinda poor sportsmanship though if you ask me but a good way to go for the gw2’s general theme of hitting the path of least resistance.
Also the Radiant shoulders (rewarded for achievement points) look freaking HUGE on some characters, depends of course on your class and race but worth taking a look at
These are pretty large, esp on preview for my norn, the shoulders are almost as big as my chest piece
People do things for odd reasons sometimes. Maybe it was someone looking for cheap rares – the forge produces one rare in an average of five forges, so roughly 16 greens will make one yellow (4 tries and if no rare, forge the 4 greens you got for a fifth attempt). So if the greens are about a silver each the average rare will cost 16 or 17 silver, maybe sell them for 20+ and make a small profit.
But someone miscalculated and bought out the entire inventory, I checked the TP a few mins ago and there were a grand total of five green hearty steel daggers available. One sold so there are four right now.
Or, someone with too much gold likes to toss random stuff in the MF and just buys out the entire inventory to do it.
The thing is the forge only bumps things up by 5-12 levels, if its a level 50 dagger the best you could get is kitten -62 rare, neither of which would sell for 20+ or could even be salvaged for ecto… even if they were all 62 they still couldn’t produce a max level exotic either… peculiar choice indeed… (my apologies if you can put 50s in with 70s and end up with a much higher result… seems like it would be based on average or lowest level though.)
Probably an expensive mistake made by someone trying to forge daggers
So are people actually buying up quartz to use it or is the increase in price as a result of inflation + other speculators?
I would say 20%/80%
There is something inherently wrong with what you are asking. I am not trying to turn this into a TP flippers argument one way or the other.
BUT, do we really need an app to allow people to spend all day every day no matter where they are flipping stuff on the TP? I thought this was an MMO anyway not a stock market simulation game.
No offense, but this is a terrible idea.
Fully agree… unless its an app that’s giving the same tp interface with live times but no actual trading function I couldn’t see this being a good thing considering how big of a leg up it would give a fairly small segment of the population.
Then you must really hate gw2spidy because it has a different interface from the TP.
The game needs to be improved more than the limited TP interface that we have in the game so please don’t set the TP interface so the only good acceptable interface because it is very limited and buggy. Don’t get me started on the problems with the TP interface.
If the TP interface in the game is your favorite interface in the game then you are too easily satisfied. Can you search back items? Can you filter armor by weight classes? There are so many problems and even bugs with it and ArenaNet devs seem to be too busy to fix them. We should allow third party developers to develop apps for the TP to improve the situation. Sorry if I like to see improvements rather than maintaining the status quo.
I NEVER said I liked it so don’t put words in my mouth… I just don’t want added functionality for a mobile app… there’s no reason to encourage MORE bots than there already are speculated to be on the tp… its all about keeping things consistant… I fully agree the in game interface needs an overhaul but that has nothing to do with the fact that this never needs to ever happen.
So they went through the trouble of adding a personal node to our home instance just for the heck of it then? No, they added it, at least in part, knowing they needed it to be of not too limited supply when ascended is released.
The problem is that people who missed the event cannot acquire the home instance node anymore. So if they up crafting to 500 you likely won’t see the use of quartz because it is unfair to newer players or players that missed the event who want ascended items.
If they do end up using quartz then they will likely add additional ways to acquire quartz crystal so it’ll be pointless to invest in it since there would be additional ways for people to acquire it like a daily reward for doing JPs, mini dungeons, some WvW, or something similar like they stated for account bound materials needed for crafting 500.
Its hardly screwing anyone using quartz in ascended recipes.. its barely the price of a t5 material and the only reason its climbing so much is hundreds of people stashing away 50 stacks… it would seem stupid to have made that home instance for absolutely nothing so I’m betting it gets used.
Kinda makes me chuckle since ascended armor will come out and make the exotic recipes kinda pointless for most people.

People don’t need to be day trading all day at work, but if they wanted to make an app like someone said earlier that tracks all your buys and sells and profits and such that’s great in my book, I’d like that myself.
I’m in no way disputing this case as being a bot or human… just keep in mind though there are people like me that as infrequently now that I buy something for myself if I’m not busy I reload that every 15-30 seconds to make sure that someone or some “bot” didn’t either… so there are people that do these things too.
I highly doubt they added a whole new material just to create one set of armor. The quartz will almost certainly be used in large quantities for ascended gear of all kinds. They came straight out and told us it would use multiple time gated resources… ie. quartz.
I also suspect we will see some time gated use for watchwork sprockets as well. They drop in the open world rarely now, and will almost certainly continue to do so after the event.
Was thinking that about sprockets as well.. its one thing to have a new random item like that… but they gave us a deposit slot for it too… if they didn’t intend on having us use it for other things it seems silly for them to have gone thru the trouble of adding that.
I keep seeing all these threads about people complaining about BL gem stuff not being delivered and 99% of the time its cause their mailbox is full… Seriously? as an OCD gamer I have a really hard time understanding how someone can get more than like 2 messages in their inbox without having deleted them. Where are all these messages coming from? And why are people not deleting them after reading it? Am I the only one who finds this to be unacceptable behavior? or is it like a situation with an 8 year old and a dirty room where you would just wish for them to be a neat and responsible person but just know in the end it’s way too much to expect at that point?
Considering you’re lucky to get 3s for a unique almost 5s for the infused ring is quite the jump in price if you ask me…
Well, if the first item stayed up long enough for another person to come along and list lower, then demand at that price wasn’t quite as high as somebody thought
.
And lowering the price by the smallest denomination in the game will suddenly make the demand high enough?
Think they’re making the point that undercutting by a low amount is pointless as the demand at that value isn’t there and the undercutting should at least be by a fair amount as to have the item removed as quickly as possible for your benefit and others… in so many words…
If you happen to have 50-60 bucks for a gaming mouse.. just get a logitech g600… first button on the side is for looting… i just mash the kitten out of that everytime i see something die while im running around… works amazingly… though it would be nice to have something loot for me, it just appears that is TOO player friendly I guess…
Although, I do like where the conversation was going when I saw each mini should have its own unique ability or what have you for the person using it… would make them much less pointless.
because that would make too much sense… and as it appears they want to make as little sense as possible when it comes to the targeting system… though they have been making slight improvements to it (disable right click targeting)… it would make things easier if they would allow CTRL+T to be used outside of a party to fix your target but I’ve just opted for the easiest method myself …. grab my warrior and greatsword…. walk up to boss as close as possible… spam 1 and 2… and that seems to be the fix for me for the time being.
Now, please, please Anet get rid of the confirmation buttons on greens.
Please please please pleaseeeeeee get rid of the confirmation on greens…
I need my shinies. Basically unless I have a carrot dangled in front of me as an incentive to do something I won’t move my butt.
yep this right here.. and all of my guildies know especially, that if there isn’t something nice dangling from the end of that pole I’m not going to chase it and I’m just going to sit by the bank all day and shoot the kitten… like since they introduced genesis I think I’ve farmed more since that patch than I did the entire other 10 months I’ve played put together (Too lazy to farm for small amounts of gold to go buy things, I like to farm items themselves which they haven’t given us much opportunity for til now)… shiny things that aren’t instantly attainable is what makes me come back… that and my guildies.
Pretty much purely PvE and I would like to see..
1. Added guild features making the interface comparable to the old GW1 (last logged on, member since…., easier way to make a small edit to message.. etc..)
2. Ally system, so you are able to speak with your brother/sister guilds without having to swap over, and rep there nor do you have to waste guild slots for a bunch of allies either.
3. Further overhaul of rewards, make blue and green items worth salvaging or at least make me think of them as less of a hindrance and more of a reward for having looted them… also the new skins/champ boxes were a nice addition. Personally as an addition to this I would like to see a possibility at a reward for doing unique events per map.. like a certain amount… you get a chest per say.. 5 unique events done on a map without leaving… then one at 10.. and 15.. and the rewards get better as you increase the amount of events you do without repeats counting… ya know… maybe reward people for actually completing events rather than failing… or better yet have there be a negative effect for those who failed the event consecutive times like a monetary penalty of some sort to even out the fact people are failing on purpose.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………
On a more personal note… Let’s work on getting an area set up not in the open world where a guild can group together and get organized for activities away from all the other players so you have kind of a better idea of organization and who is actually going to be there to participate.
Also, it would be very nice to see some additions to the game encouraging playing an alt character… right now it seems like people are being penalized more than anything for having multiple characters.

Bought a set of krytan armor for my warrior a long while back not paying attention to the clearly stated “for use on medium armor”… felt pretty smart that day.
I would suggest investing in Invisible Bags. I put all my valuable items in there, so I never make the mistake of selling them.
This right here… i have at least one to three 18 slot invisible bags on every character for my gear/cons/etc so this doesn’t ever happen again as I’ve shafted myself on a couple occasions as well.. they’re a good personal investment.
Its not a problem at all if you just sell to a buy order and not attempt to be greedy and squeeze every copper you can out of it… after relisting fees you end up losing more money than you would have generally if you would have just sold it to the buy order to begin with and you save time waiting for the gold too.
again, buy orders are done by people flipping. THEY’RE the greedy ones.
About the “hands off policy” that’s why I think the best idea is allowing you to alter the sell price of your listing without relisting and losing posting fees. That would be the best way to handle it.
Flippers are a whole other topic that is better left to other threads since there are an abundance already.
But I’m not a fan of re-listing with no repercussions… maybe a relist with a 2.5% fee rather than 5% but the fee is there to make sure people really think about the price they’re listing at and to also encourage people to fill buy orders. If there wasn’t an additional fee going with the sales fee then people would be MUCH less apt to sell to buy orders and I buy almost everything I get through buy orders because you get a much better deal so that would cause a lot of issues to players like me who are willing to wait a LITTLE bit longer to get an item. Not all buy orders are placed by flippers.
While its a good idea in theory, I’m personally not a fan unless they freeze gem prices for the duration of the sale as the massive amount of things flowing back into the gem store would surely have to send the gem prices much higher even then we have to deal with more threads than the 3 or 4 that are ALREADY on the front page of the BLTC forum with people crying about gem prices being too high.

I could care less about the 300 gems.. thats like a couple days gold.. my point still remains valid that this is a waste, the resources used developing something like this would have been better applied to continued work on halls/housing
Anyone else think it’s ridiculous that they’re having us pay 300 gems for temporary access to half of something we have been pleading them to make for the past year? And knowing they’re taking the time out to make something like this.. it’s rather aggravating with no real known progression towards what the greater portion of us really would like… really disappointed in this and am hoping people don’t fall into a trap of buying these and helping give them more of an excuse to put off housing/guild halls.
CoF1 accounts for like ALL of the gold creation in this game. No amount of changed rewards will be an increase over CoF1.
There are 40 members in my guild who earn 70g a day from CoF1.
This right here… I know a few people who make about this much a day from CoF p1… this should actually be a step in the right direction for not only killing such a ridiculous farming location but helping fill up some empty dungeons with players.
The price is already fairly low all things considered and it’s been fairly steady for a good 4-5 months now so I don’t see 10g per 100 gems coming anytime soon… too many people are happily converting gems to gold via money to keep the price from going that high
What this game desperately needs… i use that term loosely… is a new toy.. the mustache comb… goes in the toy slot and while you’re idle or a 1 skill can be used and the character will stand there and comb its glorious mustache to avoid it becoming unkempt and unruly.
Yeah, I’ve had my TP trader since december and it has always been only for you, I was quite disappointed in that as well but I really should have realized “personal” probably would mean only I could use it.
really I just stick around cause of the friends I’ve made over the years of playing gw and gw2… I get on, kitten around and do my daily achieves, maybe work on a little living story stuff and just shoot the kitten with my friends, its nice and relaxing after a long day of work to just get away from real life stuff for a little bit but still have some ties to the real world.
While I do agree with some of the things the OP in some respects that things need to change to make the game more compelling… but the number 1 thing that would make the game more compelling for me is better loot… I could care less if what I get is still only worth 15-20s the fact I got an exotic over a rare or a rare over a masterwork item drives me to play more… and with the lack of actual loot (boss chests being excluded) from foes being usable or at least “desirable” to have had drop.. it just gets boring seeing the same awful blue and green drops…
I’m a hero.. a hero who spends hours each day making sure the bank in Lions Arch is safe by standing next to it looking at the trading post. You’re all welcome.
