PvE skin locker is really needed… The transmutation stones aren’t what get me, I got plenty of those from dailies and the old bl chests that spit those out like nothing else, my problem is that i have like a dozen back pieces i wanna use for aesthetic purposes and several different weapon skins i would like to use for the same reason but cant because of either lack of room to hold everything (already have 3 18 slot invisible bags FULL of skins and crap on my warrior) or the fact that it just doesn’t seem logical to go spend an additional 5-10g to get a weapon or set of weapons to transmute onto so I don’t override an expensive skin that I would have to drop hundreds of gold on on to get back.

It really all does depend on context. If by rich players we mean 1 person at a time, then only very short terms are possibilities. If we mean a conglomerate, then longer periods are possible. If by rich players we mean all tp players, cof grinders, die hard addicts (any player that has a significantly elevated level of gold vs the average player), then it’s not only possible, it’s happening.

As long as those players (elevated levels of gold vs the average player) and their demand exceed the supply of a given item. That item is subject to those players…ergo controlled by said players even if indirectly.

This has got to be the only post I’ve seen about any number of people “controlling” the precursor market that makes any actual sense… it’s not about one or a few people controlling it to make profit (because there are MUCH more lucrative markets that can be turned faster without having a whole ton of money sittting being wasted by being idle on the tp) it’s a large community just buying slightly more than they’re able to produce and those who are buying them are generally just wealthier people and it’s not on purpose with the wealthy people saying “oh hey, it’ll be fun if this precursor is 600g for a while”… it’s just a matter of them having the disposable income to drive the price that high…

All the time gate was is to prevent a ridiculous rush on quartz to prevent them from having ballooned up to 20s then kitten right back down to 1s the 3rd day after the event release. Just keeping the ripples in that market smaller is all… thats the only logical reason I see…

Fort Aspenwood does karka queen at least once each day after reset sometimes twice on the weekends… but from what I hear there are many servers who pretty much have abandoned trying to coordinate doing this.

I don’t think they should be removed as I’m sure there’s a couple dozen people that like to use them, though I do think they should have an option to take yourself off the leaderboard as well though and have your score hidden as well. I know several people who feel the same way that they would just prefer to be left off the leaderboards and have the score hidden to avoid direct competition with those around them and avoid having to then grind out more achievements to catch or stay ahead of whoever.

I’m 90% sure that the mf items that will be effected are only going to be the armors and weapons using them as a main stat… not a refund on all the things that have MF as a boost (runes/infusions/etc..) They don’t want to totally take MF away from the game they just want to keep it off as a stat line on equipment.

It’s basically a way to exploit the game. If you have a lot of gold, you can buy a lot of a given item and sell it for a higher price, creating an artificial increase in price. The more gold you have, the more gold you can make through this process, at the cost of making the game a bit worse for everyone else (since you are artificially making it harder for people to get what they want).

If it’s a rare enough item, you can even buy all of it in the market and set a monopoly, selling at a considerable higher price than you bought. This doesn’t work with items that have a huge turnover like Globs of Ectoplasm, but for truly rare items – like precursors – it can be a gold mine.

And you can prove this happens because precursor prices have been extremely stable since january. Oh wait … that actually disproves the theory.

Uh… You do realize we can see the price fluctuations, right? So saying something that is not true like that is kinda pointless. Dusk, for example, has had multiple spikes in price since January, with its price having increased more than 100 gold during the last 30 days. This is not “extremely stable”.

just because something extremely valuable increases by 15% or so doesn’t indicate instability… it just means there was a run in the market by people who want to make an extremely common legendary is all. And no flipper worth their salt would waste their time hoarding dusks to pump them up 100g… minus tp fees they would only be making ~10g per dusk and that is nowhere near worth the time it would take to flip it and the amount of gold one would have to waste floating out there while its waiting to sell.

This is true lol. I’d love to have Foefire’s over Sunrise, for example. But I can’t convince myself to spend the money since I already have an expensive skin.

I find myself saying the almost exact opposite being one who has his foefires (wishing i had just saved the money and got the sunrise instead and now don’t want to skin over the foefires or transfer it)… though I do like that I see much less of my sword than I do of the legendaries… that’s the biggest deterrent for me actually finishing my legendary at this point is cause everyone and their mom has one now and there’s really nothing unique about them anymore… so time to sit and wait and twiddle my thumbs til they introduce more and I can have a fairly rare skin for a couple months at least.

back on topic to precursor changes, as someone stated earlier they were looking to make it into a scavenger hunt sort of situation but I think they’re slowly throwing more of those things at us to see what works and what doesn’t and how long things take… I have no issue with the scavenger hunt though I can really only hope that the results of the scavenger hunt are account bound or something.. being the base for the most sought after items in the game they shouldn’t be cheap like an average exotic, but there should also be a garunteed way to acquire them with a lot of time and effort. Even if it takes your average player a couple months to do (considering they wanted us to spend 6 mo-year on acquisition of the legendary anyway.. ex: 1000 tokens from each dungeon now reward you a “gift of whatever” combine a specific 4 of those gifts to get another gift… with those 2 unique gifts (like might and magic) from the 1000 dungeon tokens of EACH dungeon, put 2 eldrich scrolls and a stack of mystic coins in the forge for a ticket to take to a trader to get the precursor of your choice)

This makes sense for content and not for gear. Introducing WvWxp, for example, is something I mean by content.

I would get 8 sets since they are actually pretty good even if you just want some MF gear I would rather get celestial than traveler. Rather than getting a berserker, a rabid, a soldier, a clerics set to figure out how I want to play a proffession I’d rather just get 1 celestial set. Then at some point I could get 1 set that’s specific to my play style.

I get that as well, I just feel people are being unnecessarily impatient with acquiring items… having the trading post and such has spoiled things in a sense I think in making people feel like if something is new they should be able to have it right away. I feel it takes away from the sense of fulfillment you get from actually eventually acquiring something you really want after patiently waiting for it.. but maybe I’m one of the few who feel that way…

on a side note though you also get the opportunity at a charge crystal when you harvest in the home node as well which could help to expedite the process.. i’m sure not to a satisfactory pace for someone such as yourself but it will speed it up a little bit nonetheless.

If there is, it is a bug. The only differences between harvesting tools should be the max resource tier they can harvest.

it could be, but i burned through a lot of em harvesting the rich ori vein in southsun for a while and i definitely notice a big difference between them and the regular picks when it came to obtaining orbs

I’ll agree that the little permanent boost stats don’t really mean much in the long run.

But what if the main thing you enjoy about MMOs are the skins? What if the stats don’t matter? If you don’t do achievements, you don’t get the nice looking skins. You dont NEED it… you will not physically kittening die if you don’t get them… they aren’t kittening oxygen they aren’t kittening water or food or shelter… you don’t NEED them… People are just acting like babies about this and its ridiculous.. If you logged on once a week for the entire month for a few hours each time and thats it, if you know what you’re doing then you should have an EASY 500 achievement points from the monthly (which is always easily knocked out in 4-5 days) a few dailies and 2 living story events… they make achievement points so ridiculously easy to get in 4-6 months anyone that plays regularly and has been playing for a while should easily have 10k achievement points… It’s getting ridiculous that they finally introduce something as good as rewarding people for their effort FINALLY and people have to find another reason to complain just because they can’t have something immediately or they weren’t as dedicated as some of the other players who log on ritualistically and grind out each and every new achievement (not me, im not even at 5k points right now)…

TL;DR… basically the game isn’t socialist even though they are GIVING these skins away for nothing (just it may take a couple months to get them all)… not everyone is going to be equal to everyone else especially when some people don’t have the time or necessarily the will to play as much or as hard as other people… stop the kittening because sitting on here complaining isn’t going to get you more achievement points it’s just going to get you further behind.

Anet is releasing new content every two weeks now, complete with new achievements. If you didn’t have the time for it then, it’ll just back up more and more until you will have no chance of completing stuff without it becoming a full time job.

If you want to quit, no one is stopping you. But the game is still good. You need to rethink how to approach it.

This… just because there was a couple achieves you can’t get now is no reason to quit a game you enjoy… and no one is making you log in every day… all the achievements are easily obtainable in 2 days without much effort. So really you in theory only need to log on once a week to finish all the event stuff… just seems really childish to give up over something as trivial as a couple achievement points.

Apparently if you send a support ticket to anet they will have you delete your current endless tonic and they will send you a non-bound version, there have been a few topics on this already the last few days and on reddit.. but for some reason I can’t ever get the bloody search function to work properly on here so I couldn’t pull up the links.

It’s just so people like me who have every recipe won’t flood the market with products as we gain more quartz.. also this way it makes all those recipes we’re finding right now worth something since anyone who wants the items will have to craft them themselves. They just didn’t want people taking advantage of a limited supply of something and skewing the market.

Drop rate isn’t bugged at all, people during the event had opened 4-5 thousand boxes and still received no ticket.

This may be the best thing that has happened to world boss events if this goes game wide.

It’s not unfair or unequal that some people are more diligent in their reading of forums and other websites and have an excessive amount of time to dedicate to the game… I missed out on this as well being at work yesterday (actually missed out on a lot of profit the last 4-5 patches because of being at work) but that’s my fault for having a life outside the game… had I not.. I would be richer.. but instead I’m richer IRL and can buy REAL things… and that in the end is much more rewarding than making a couple gold in game by gluing myself to the screen all day and night.

They’re going for 80g+. That’s close to a fourfold increase and you won’t have to wait 10 years like for coffers. And the only reason coffers spiked today is because of the unforseeable new zhaitaffy sink. Zhaitaffy is already far overpriced now compared to other mats (45s for zhaitaffy vs 20s for mithril ore to get one quartz chest), so a crash is immenent.

I’ve opened ~20k dragon coffers alone this event… and with more events like halloween and wintersday and what have you offering more containers of this variety is only going to accelerate the wearing out of all our mice (not to mention the not too fond feeling that my hand is going to fall off after opening 5-10 stacks at a time either).. It would be an extremely beneficial tool also in assistance with the thirst slayer achievement as well…

All I know is my g600 and my clicking hand (and those clicking hands of thousands of others) would be eternally grateful for such a fairly small change.

…PS.. please add a quantity box to the merchants buy screens, this would make things much more palatable when staring at 50 stacks of zhaitaffy and dreading the long walk to the merchant to trade them 5 taffy at a time.

Yeah… I think they skimmed over the word rich and just weren’t paying attention, understandable considering theres like 5 threads about investing in dragon coffers right now.

I play on FA cause it’s a fairly active and full server and its where the entire alliance I was in from gw1 came to.

dervishes are essentially guardians considering all the melee power+cond stripping and boons…

At the very least, once you explored the map once, it should be done for the whole account. Now, exploration and hearts are two separate things to me. Having to do the hearts again for the EXP, that I don’t mind.

I have 4 80’s already and leveling more alt’s. To do world complete on all 9 (will be more) is just an unbearable thought.

Yesssss this… I would finally finish world completion this week (after 9 months of putting it off) if all the maps/wps would be available on my alts… leave the hearts/vistas/pois/sps all undone for the other characters… this would at least make us having alts worth actually having because aside from preventing yourself from getting burnt out playing your main they’re fairly pointless and there’s no incentive whatsoever to actually make another character at this point as they just eat up more of your gold.. which I believe in some ways will end up shortening the lifespan of this game (no doomsday stuff here, I believe the game will be around for years to come, I just believe giving incentive to make alts would help to keep the community more full for longer than it will be under current circumstances)

Very true but with good reason, because the open world pve is meant to cater to everyone not just to a few hardcore players (mind you this is supposed to be a game for casual players) who want everything to be harder or for some reason want groups of 50-100 people to try to coordinate actions without a suitable device to help do so. If you wish to force team gameplay on people feel free to check out some dungeons cause that’s exactly what it is… If anet thought for a single second forcing people to play together like that was a solid idea for the entire community this would have been taken care of a long time ago… the community as a majority raging isn’t worth the 1% that this would make happy.

It wouldn’t hurt to have another gold sink to take some gold out of the economy rather than it just being redistributed to people grinding and selling or flipping whatever the content is.

I frequently see the request for a race change option in the Trading Co. but there’s always the issue of the Personal Story and how it’s tied so very deeply to your character’s race.

Just an idea to help support it, but why not have a Personal Story reset along with the race change?

I had been saying that for the longest time now… pretty simple solution to the personal story issue IMO… and if someone wants a race change THAT bad it shouldn’t be a real big issue.

I feel like then they’re just SOL… but I feel generally speaking (im sure there are many exceptions) people that are really dissatisfied with their race to the point of needing a race change wouldn’t have purchased t3 armor… and t1 and 2 are pretty much pocket change as cost goes… it would just have to be a sacrifice the player has to make… as one of those people (t3 on my sylvari guardian and level 50something personal story) I would give both back to be able to re-skin as a human and still have the rest of my stuff and be at level 80.

I would be apt to think that it would be that you only have 4 gb of ram since the gpu and cpu should be more than fine for the game… with it locking up like that it could be that you have several background processes running as well and there just isn’t enough memory. Generally speaking the minimum requirements need to be almost doubled to have the requirements to get something to run fairly well, when you double the 2gb min req you get your 4gb which should be good in and of itself.. but if you have a bunch of junk programs running on start up or are just running several things (browser, music, accidentally auto-scheduled anti-virus or defrag) it could bog it down to the point it would just lock up like that.

If you smelled burning and you DIDN’T see smoke you can generally narrow it down to being most likely a hard drive problem, though it could also be your CPU’s heatsink decided it was time to die and fried your CPU or could also be your graphics card… but without any visible smoke immediately I would think it’s probably not your power supply… as I have fried a few in the last year or so at work and I don’t think I’ve ever burnt one out and not seen actual smoke from it…

But good call on going and getting the free evaluation from them, it will do you a lot more good than those of us who can’t physically see the unit itself.

They sell.. and fairly quickly if you sell them at a fair price… not 1g below whatever the current listed one is… like frostfang… generally lists between 1700-1850g if you list it at 1600 it will sell in a day or 2 almost garunteed… though quite frankly with the tp fees and everything it’s generally speaking not worth it.

This… you’d be amazed how simple some of the fixes are to things that people have thought to have completely devastated their machines. So don’t get too discouraged til you’ve exhausted all your options, we’re all here to help

It would help to know some basic tech specs of your computer… mostly how old is your graphics card/CPU cause the first thought that comes to mind to me is that either it’s overheating but not overheating to the point of an auto-shutdown or your graphics card is old or just not up to snuff for gw2 and that is locking things up… also I suppose it could be the RAM as well if its completely freezing it could be caused by lack of virtual memory… though I haven’t seen that in a while.

Just a thought as well but I noticed artificially low FPS rates when running in windowed mode too, I doubt it would give you such low FPS but it could be another issue to look at.

Something is amiss. There is no way that rig should be getting that poor results. I have to question though……who buys a 2k rig without the knowledge of what you are asking? Something is not adding up here.

My thought was either someone bought it for them or they just went to some custom gaming site and ordered what they thought was fanciest looking. But yeah, there’s really nothing to upgrade on that rig at this point.

It takes literally 3 seconds to make a buy order… and you can make more than one at a time for the same item… but I hope you’re not buying them to trade for the wings since those are like 4g on the tp

I’ve seen a few times people posting on reddit and here that have gotten a different unique ring… they will not refund the laurels or the gems in this case but luck may shine down on the op and they swap out your armor for them. so like you had said, it doesn’t hurt to try

also try to remember the name of the armor you’re looking for like “emblazoned” etc… if you search that with the level parameters theredmoose had advised with earlier you will be left with just that set of armor which will be the one fitting your character armor class.

ftr though… yes that is quite frustrating.

I’ve gotten several compliments on my armor so I’m sure there are a lot of people out there who check these things out… honestly I don’t put much effort into looking at other people’s armor unless its something that really catches my eye or its something just ridiculous looking because as stated before with everything being so crowded in towns and such it makes it a little more difficult to check peoples armor sets and stuff out.

I suggest everyone to buy the armor skins off the shop, it is possible that if they sell SIGNIFCANTLY more by selling the skins directly, they could change their marketing strategy to reflect it; which means this could end the RNG issue.

That or they’ll realize… hey people really want armor and guess what ends up in the RNG boxes next?
