Nobody should ever be banned for doing something as allowed by the game. You guys need to check your envy at the login screen. Anet isn’t even consistent about whether recycling characters is exploitative or not (they never patched SAB). If they don’t want players to farm character-based rewards then they need to implement a cap, period, as that is fully within their power and their responsibility.

While I agree that people shouldn’t be banned for something like this (people who want to put forth the effort grinding something for a fairly marginal reward like this which is also quite tedious then more power to them)… But I just wanted to point out there is a huge difference between this and SAB since this gives a direct and garunteed monetary reward while SAB was fairly time consuming (about 15-20 mins a run) and 98% of what you got from that was account bound… and the reason it was profitable was kitten poor speculation on players part not because of a direct reward so the profitability factor here wasn’t introducing a ton of new money into the pool.

Personally I think what is considered (by anet, not me) an exploit in this nature is recreating characters to farm a direct monetary reward as opposed to recreating to get something specifically for yourself and not to cycle EVEN MORE money into the economy. But again, just my opinion.

While you’re fixing that will you fix the most demanded/highest offer/etc on the first page of the 3rd tab? Those legendaries have been the same offers for like 6 months

Well.. its considerably easier to get than the other ones which were rng box purchases and these are gotten through absurdly easy southsun events… these will stay low for a long time… i don’t see them coming near the other’s price.

Never say never when it comes to minipets. (Or anything else, for that matter.) In GW1, ANet eventually introduced birthday presents that offered previously unobtainable minipets that were only released as parts of promotions. I wouldn’t rule out them doing the same eventually here in GW2. Of course, the caveat is not to expect it anytime SOON.

This… it may not get re-released in the next month… year.. couple years… but as trends show with the guild wars world, they will more than likely EVENTUALLY get re-released.

even assuming you were 100% positive it was the same person.. here would be my logic behind this.. because this was just a random market you were talking about im going to give it a couple specific characteristics.. it’s something with much higher demand than there is supply… now.. it makes sense when you think about it because there is going to be many more buyers than sellers and the buyers will be a lot more willing to just buy an item outright if the buy order is already currently at such an artificially high price. it’s not to attract more people to sell the item vs list it. its so people will buy his items as opposed to putting in a buy order and waiting…. but that would have to be under fairly specific circumstances for it to be profitable of course.

I’m not sure when it comes to the ones that are already mid-high 40s as to how much higher they go but I don’t see any reason the others don’t join them in price in a month or 2 since the wealthy people generally speaking are just getting wealthier

lol. I’d like to be able to right-click something, and have an option “add to list of junk items”. I’d like to add all blue and green items, plus tonics and minor runes/sigils, to this list as well.

Been wishing for a customizable junk list since about a week after I started playing

I’m not disagreeing by any means but if you sort by exotic/level 80 and the weapon you want (sword/axe/mace) and just hover your mouse over the item it shows the stats and it makes your search much easier.. Though I do support the idea for more filters especially when it comes to trinkets, armor, crafting mats, cons.. etc..

I completely disagree with the OP’s suggestion about a “rule of thumb” for undercutting. There should be no rule-of-thumb, because there should be no undercutting at all! Undercutting is leading to the inflation of prices in the TP and will eventually result in a collapse.

I’m not sure if I’m misinterpreting what you were saying but I fail to see how making prices lower leads to inflation.. if anything people undercutting make it easier for people with less money to buy the items.

I’m sorry to tell you but if Arenanet made a system where playing the game the ‘right’ way without farming was profitable enough, farmers would have already found the best routes/areas to make money. Which would bring us full circle and starting over again.

This… theres always going to be people that are wealthier than the average player because they’re going to find the fastest way to make money and beat it to death and we are right back where we started.

running what i said earlier i’ve gotten at least 15-20 crates… try adding some food or search for a bonfire or something to boost your mf more.

They are so easy to get that I don’t really see the problem. I’ve farmed 20 of them so far with minimal effort. I still haven’t seen anything other then mats though.

What did you get your % magic find up to? I was ~250% and haven’t gotten any.

I use 363% and get about one every 30 minutes of constant killing.

Yeah, I have about the same drop rates as well and run between 384 and 434.

I would be alright with them allowing an organized way to trade off of the tp ONLY if they give permanent bans for account and IP (no warning ever) to those spamming chats with WTS/WTB bullcrap. I was so happy to get away from that from gw1… don’t wanna put up with that again.

I also agree with the poster above.. unless your farming something in dungeons/open world.. when it comes to farming the tp once others catch on to something you need to move onto the next thing.. that is the key right there.

But quite seriously, until you have a substantial amount of money the TP isn’t really a viable way to make money considering you can make 7-10g an hour farming skelk on southsun right now or farming cof p1… get a solid base amount of money (a few hundred gold) then give the tp a whirl.

Agree, when searching for armors its just as obnoxious… would kill for an additional filter to filter light/med/heavy armors (though I’m sure this has also been suggested elsewhere)

There are many things you can do about people undercutting you by such high percentages…

1. buy them out and flip their item for additional profit.
2. place additional buy orders to close the margin for profit so people aren’t tempted to undercut and will just sell for even less than they would undercut you for so you can re-flip again.
3. don’t concern yourself over garbage markets of items that are cheap and large in quantity because you will ALWAYS be undercut.. period. by people who could give a kitten about maximizing profits and just want to get a fair chunk of money for their item and since they’re garbage items then everyone is going to have them and be trying to cram them on the tp.

Lesson here is, people are going to play the way they wanna play, and trade the way they wanna trade. If they’re more concerned about speed than money then that’s not their problem. The only person they’re hurting is the person being greedy and trying to keep their item at a higher price… they’re doing good getting cheaper items to the rest of the community

oh and for future reference… rule of thumb… by dictionary definition is.. “a method or procedure based on experience and common sense” … if their experience says that they will sell the item quicker with a bigger undercut (because greedy flippers will buy and just re-list) and common sense says people will be more apt to buy it at a lower price… so their “rule of thumb” would be to undercut to make a quick sale… your “rule of thumb” and anyone else’s rule of thumb will always differ because it’s based on experience and perception, and if someone doesn’t perceive something the same way you do then your rule of thumb may be just as stupid sounding to them as theirs does to you. Not everyone is greedy trying to squeeze every copper they can out of an item.

Being one who has bought 3 of these if they did something like this I would be really unhappy, I don’t wanna have to bother swapping them out between characters nor do I want to have to go back and have to pay 200 gems more each for the 3 of them so I don’t have to do that… Though if they wanted to make account and soulbound versions the account bound being 200 gems more, then I’m quite alright with that.

several valid points here.. as for the server issue.. tbh I think they should be kept on the same servers as normal players if possible.. if you’re downed and no one revived you, more fun for the trolls.. see everyone benefits.. people can make fun of the person who chose to do the content. Another thing people should be expecting.

Yes it will lead to some people not doing certain content… I really don’t see the issue with this considering I’m suggesting hardcore/(for the sake of arguement from now one) softcore characters be on the same server. For those having issues finding dungeon groups as a hardcore player… switch to softcore if you REALLY need to do it and cant… tough luck there… nothing in the game is completely optimal. And as for being downed, tbh I think being downed as a hardcore character should equate death so thats a non issue.. but thats just my opinion.

Also I agree that if you’re really that hardcore then you shouldn’t need anet to help you… I totally agree with that… But some people with big mouths think they are (a few I know personally), and it entertains me so much to see those people brought back down to earth when they find out they’re not as good as they thought they were haha

You do challenges to make your own game more interesting, if you fail a challenge because you decide to lie to yourself you’re only ruining your own fun.

That is their problem, but what I don’t understand is why you’re so opposed to it as it doesn’t effect quite literally anything you’re doing while you play and would make a lot of people happy. Plus making this organized can also lead to competitiveness between hardcore players just as there is on the current leaderboards leading some people who would have put the game down to continue playing.

Thanks, and it’s never really easy to please the majority when the change is for a minority even if it doesn’t effect anything they’re doing personally. If it doesn’t effect the way the way everyone plays and it benefits the community, even if it isn’t for the majority, I’m generally on board to support it. I’m all for variety

No one is suggesting perma death as the only choice… just for hardcore characters, which is totally different from normal characters who can go right ahead and die all they want. Again it’s a challenge for those who already know what they’re buying into.

I agree there would probably be some rage, most people from my experience with hardcore know what they’re getting themselves into and are fairly experienced already, and with the lack of PK’s in this game really all you have as an excuse for your poor gameplay is lag, and if you lag… you shouldn’t be, in a serious way, playing hardcore to begin with.. which may come off as a little douchy to say but you SERIOUSLY cannot kitten about dying while lagging on a hardcore character when you know its going to happen eventually… If you lag while playing already then you shouldn’t make the choice to play hardcore until you can hammer out your lag issues. That’s just common sense.

Note: just wanted to say this little rant was in no way shape or form directed towards you, but preemptively toward the bunch you were describing in your response earlier.

I made a goal for myself not to die until after I became level 80. It’s so exciting because I feel like there’s something at stake and I have to be careful all the time and not do dumb things.

I like that idea, I might start doing that once I get my roommates playing while they’re leveling their first characters. Should give me something to do with em for a while while they mess around.

I wasn’t sure where to put this in because it’s not really a bug but it’s a suggestion for the forum/website and not the game… anyway…

Whenever I’m scrolling through the forums just derpin’ away, I eventually will run across something I want to reply to. Me being me, of course I never logged in initially when I got onto the forum because this is the only place I have to give my log in info to regularly… following my login much to my chagrin I find myself back on the main forum page… Is there any way there can be a fix to where when you log in it takes you directly back to the page you were viewing as opposed to taking me back to the main forum page? I’m sure hitting the back arrow twice and reloading would solve this issue as well… but that’s the thing.. that shouldn’t be necessary in the first place.

The whole thing here is I think several people are overlooking is that this would be an optional feature to choose when you create a character like in other games (at least I think that’s what the OP was getting at) so it’s not as if all characters are hardcore, just the ones that people create as such so no one is being forced into playing this way its just for the niche community that enjoy this particular activity.

also as mentioned previously, not just you but most people don’t have the skill or lack of lag (properly placed lagbomb by your server or computer can easily wipe the most talented player out) to make it hundreds of hours so it really appeals to people looking for a challenge that enjoy the lower level areas as well.

Another suggestion to add to this particular idea, it would give another good excuse for an additional leaderboard too for the hardcore players possibly sorted via experience points or % world completion or a system using both together to form a point system.

In any case, I don’t see much drawback to putting something like this in, as I said earlier as well it would remove a lot of the garbage (blue-rare low-midlevel skins) from the tp from people outfitting their HC characters and give those people who want an additional challenge something else to do considering the only real endgame here is making your character look as shiny as possible (which I’m not complaining about because that’s exactly what I personally look for in a game as I don’t do a lot of dungeon grinding or what have you.) which doesn’t appeal to a fairly moderate % of the playerbase of which I believe this would proabably appeal to more.

Well on the plus side, not saying I do or do not endorse this type of play but to each their own, it would eliminate a lot of the garbage items (rare tier or below) because few would waste the gold on a character like that (learned this the hard way after many years of HC diablo 2 playing)

They are available, you just need to buy the insignia or inscription to craft the item.

I’ve been wanting something like this for a while, it would be nice to be able to have the option prior to purchase to gift a gem store item to someone else.

I would only believe agony to be implemented in open world areas if there was a hard mode introduced.

What I would really like to see is a way to put account bound items in your guild bank… My simple solution to this is to allow those who have created the guild (also retroactively to those who have created guilds) to be able to deposit the account bound items in their guild bank… so purely the people who were the ones who created the guild not any particular rank.

My theory is that no decent or reputable guild leader would clog his own main guild up with account bound stuff, then leaving those who have invested in purchasing and researching a guild for purpose of storage can also unclog their bank of account bound items. I’m not sure how hard it would be to tag someone as the owner and have those permissions assigned but I feel like it would make a fairly large amount of people very very happy.

EDIT: also another suggestion that applies to guild banks, double click deposit and withdrawls there like in your personal bank… if the previous solution isn’t able to be implemented then this would be very helpful for those who use their guild bank to store excess rares or other items to forge them in bulk.

Easiest way to see all the pretty non legendary weapons… open up the trading post, set filter to exotic.. click search… then filter the price to highest… right click to preview all the ones that aren’t precursors… 99% should be shinies.

@Air: The thing is here it’s not about what only YOU value or feel makes one prestigious. It’s about what they value, and if they believe that having a skin that is unique while others aren’t able to easily obtain that skin then that is their view, it doesn’t have to be shared by you, nor do they have to share your view that it makes things less prestigious… because by definition prestige is “reputation or influence arising from success, achievement, rank, or other favorable attributes.” favorable attributes include luck and if that’s what you consider people that have these things than they are actually inherently prestigious. And if someone needs something like that to toot their own horn to the public (and from personal experience from well over a decade of MMO gaming the greater majority of people do) then the designers are going to cater to those people because they represent the majority.

Also, considering my faux average for a ticket drop I will call 2% (which i consider pretty kitten high) it would take for 50 keys to pay 4,500 gems. If you’d rather them have you pay 4,500 gems per collectible weapon skin they release for blc to keep it at the same rarity value, and I’m sure they would do that as well (thats another ~55 dollars in their pocket each time garunteed), but then there would just be more kittening… either way, they’re gonna get their money and the majority of people are just gonna keep smiling and giving it to em.

The real lesson here is to patrol the forums and realize that 500 other people complained about this before you made your purchase. They’re out to make money, its not about being fair, or doing what is seemingly logical. It may not be the most consumer friendly approach but it has been working very well for them so far so they really don’t have a reason yet to change their approach.

This is a great lesson for all the newer traders out there though that you never ever should invest in 1 specific thing more than you’re willing to lose. Gotta diversify that portfolio!

That’s pretty interesting. I’ve heard of people using mice of many buttons to supplement their normal left hand stuff, but I’ve never heard of anyone using the mouse exclusively for everything. Does it ever get confusing?

actually after about a day you get really used to it, and the buttons are sloped slightly so you can clearly tell which buttons you are going to hit once you get used to the set up you made. It’s made dodging feel much easier as well which I was having an issue getting used to prior to getting the mouse.

This is just my best guess because I haven’t seen anything about these specifically but…

1. The fused tokens will more than likely be removed from the BLC when the f/f stuff is removed from the game as most temporary content has.
2. I don’t see this ever happening, I really couldn’t give you a great reason why, my gut instinct just says no. I think they like to keep those things exclusive to keep a longer lasting allure to opening chests.

swap elements and stay mobile, if you can learn to dodge / attack while mobile you will be much happier.

If you’re doing it for the purposes of WvW I would say roll a thief.. though be aware they are putting in anti-stealth fields and other traps so that may hamper the thief’s style of gameplay. I would suggest if you plan on doing a lot of WvW along with your pve maybe try rolling a guardian because they’re pretty well rounded for both situations.
