To be honest I don’t feel like my character accomplished anything in this game, lorewise. It is said over and over again by npcs “you’re the boss” “hooray the commander” etc but after replaying the content I felt more like a sidekick of Jory and others complimenting everything I did like I should feel rewarded. Yeah, few lines of dialog is not a reward a hero dreams about.

It feels like becoming a member of White Mantle in GW1. A ceremony, fat guy telling me I am cool but afterall it left 0 feelings and is totally underplayed.

For me there should be no NPC party running aroung our character. We are the heroes. Why should I care about teenage lovestory or an asura progeny trying to be rebel. Those characters drive the focus from my character and it feels like the game is about them. Not even dragons.

I like DE1.0 more because they are not running around me. They have story behind them, they have their own troubles and they don’t try to be my sidekicks. With DE2.0 it feels like gathering of homeless wannabe heroes with no real reason to do so.

Guild Wars 2 has incredible fight mechanics, clever skill ideas and amazing players. Those are wonderful basics where they can build a master pvp community and incredible organized group content. But what we’re getting mostly is open world zerg pew pew boring maps. This game could be a jewel, a mmo leader instead its just one of many with some good ideas but terrible execution.

I stopped believing in anything substantial coming for me in this game. I play because I think I am addicted and because I’ve some some great ppl here I can go through content with pleasure. If they are gone I will possibly say goodbye to GW2 because of lack of substance for me.

I hope I am wrong and anet surprises me with HoT. Don’t believe it though.

I was replaying LS2 for achievements this weekend and I have to say I like Marjory’s voice but I don’t think it suits her. She’s definetely attempting to be GW2’s noir detective but at the end it’s just an anime doll. Her voice reminds me of Kate o’Hara from Desperados game.

Ok, I get it, you like Tybalt. I’m not surprised. But the only hero in the three orders is Forgal for me. He’s an experienced soldier and warrior, a leader and a fighter. And he’s voiced by the same guy that voiced Jalis and Campbell from metal gear solid :>

Oh yes that’s what I mean. I don’t say their relationship is good. But it’s written good. It’s a tragic romance ending up with breaking up and fighting each other. And about comparing romance in game to romance in book. It’s a story so it doesnt matter if its shown in game or in book, its the same story. And in the book the romance is a side story to the main plot as much as it is in game.

However Kasjory’s romance is presented as one of main events happening in LS. Let’s fight the dragon with the power of love! I find those cutscenes and dialogs where dragons lore is replaced with their drama redundant.

Remember that sylvari are not human so their emotions can be expressed different.
In game it may be shown not so well but after the book I felt classic tragic romance story about two people with opposing goals loving each other that cant be together because of their obligations. And I felt they care for each other with natural, healthy way. With Kasjory I only feel like watching two high school girls with typical high school problems.

It’s pretty disappointing you’re seeing Kasjory as some lgbt agenda. While I have quite strong opinion about the subject, I try as much as I can to rate the romance from storytelling point of view. In this case I find their romance to be vary poorly executed in matters of writing. I am certain if we put two guys or mixed couple instead of Kasjory with the same scenario it will be as bad. It’s annoying romance, makes me think of twilight or other teens movies/books.

As I mentioned in the op – how is it possible that Caitholain romance doesnt feel forced both in game and in book while watching Kasjory interacting with each other makes me “change the channel”.

In my defense: I was talking about characters taking part in plot involving our characters and evon is more likely a lore personality without much personal involvement.

But GW2 storyline isnt exclusive to one aspect. It would be weird to just stop with de2.0 because no LS patches. I’m pretty sure they will continue with us at least until we defeat mordy. The very first trailer kinda hints to that because we can see there at the end only de2.0 standing in the jungle and braham shouting “we’re taking the fight to mordremoth!”

That’s weird in my opinion. I pay for the product and I expect it to be good. Because I cant choose if I want the game patched after I bought it I expect their patches to be good long after I bought the box because they’re changing what I bought.

It’s your right to feel grateful, however in bussiness world at the end it’s only money that matters.

edit: I dont play those games. And with DLCs you have a choice to buy or not to buy them. With GW2 you have no choice if you want patches implemented to the original product you bought.

GW1 has a great nostalgic value to me however players these days have different point of view of how games should be. To worse in my opinion. If you’re not an oldschool gamer or very orthodox about gw2 gameplay you could be disappointed with GW1.

I love GW1, it was magic to me those days but now it’s kind of dated experience.

LS were free updates with gem store stuff attatched. Though its not forced to buy this bussiness model works.

And guess what, I dont like LS and I wouldnt pay a single penny for it. And I’m not grateful for it.

Anet is a bussiness company with clear goal to sell their product. They work with bussiness plan not with unicorns and pink thoughts about spreading love to ppl.

Dungeons were actually better with the new downscaling in my opinion, made it harder to lvl 80’s. If this turned out to be way overpowered/underpowered or unplayable in any kind I would say its a bug, but right now I think this scaling was intended, just not for this patch.

I think those characters have good ideas and plot twists involved in their stories and actions, however they are badly executed in my opinion.

find a peaceful place to play on your own if city noise interrupts you;

macros is only more options, which is good; noone is personaly forced to use macros but dont deny more options to other players

yeah… fix with anet fashion means disabling reflects, like they did with marlona brando. and I hate to even think we’ll see more skills useless.

since another thread was closed I’d like to continue the discussion with more perspective.

First of all for me the only three characters without problems in this game are Rytlock, Forgal and Canach but in this thread I’d like to focus on DE2.0.

Braham is a character I’ve met first from the current party. The first impression was confusing. I knew he was a norn but his voice, accent and looks made me think of him as jamaican gangsta from GTA IV. The more time I spent with him I felt like he’s a mindless buiser bashing monster around him without any insight or context. For me Braham is a Schwarzenegger’s Conan of GW2:
- Braham go kill stuff!
- Braham smash!
What’s more I find his relationship with Eir totally not convincing. She’s a legend and his mother but their interraction with each other is lacking and emotionless.

With empty head norn another character was introduced. Auntie Rox is what I call her. It’s another wannabe hero in this universe I simply can’t stand. First one was Tybalt but she’s even worse. She looks like a grandpa from children tales waiting to be eaten by wolf. She acts… well… Did she accomplish anything in the story? Because what I remember about her is pew pew with bow and pet plush devourer. This is why I call her Auntie. She does nothing and her pet is immersion breaking for me.

Taimi I must admit is quite good. She’s not a hero, she’s a kid with exceptional IQ. She’s also an asura with attitude competing only Zojja I think. I wish we could see them both interacting with each other in HoT. It would be like a cartoon character Brain arguing with himself. Still I don’t like her design. Her golem is a big cat which points me towards anime cartoons about stupid girls being heroes. Yeah, that’s a little crack but at least doesnt cause me to hate her.

I liked Marjory when we first met during Aetherblades attack on LA. The Ashford’s murder investigation wasn’t anything interesting mechanicaly but Marjory was introduced as cold professional with sarcastic attitude. Just like my rl fiancee. She also got a sexy concept art but in-game model is… meh. She would be a great side character for other heroes, helping with her intelligence e.g. deducing Scarlet’s future plans. Unfortunately she end up being another front line fighter.

When I look at Kasmeer I see a Barbie doll disconnected from real life pretending not to be dumb. There’s totally nothing more I can say about her. She’s a blond fairy casting butterflies around with sweet voice and 0 responsibility. For me she’s in pair with Auntie. She walks around, looks good and that’s it. Once she discovered krait tower. Wow. If player abilities could interact with terrain it would be awesome but in this case it was a cheap plot trick to explain why noone saw krait tower being built.

The last part I need to bring up is Marjory and Kasmeer’s romance. Holy Mother of God. How is it possible that you handled Caithe’s and Faolain’s romance so well, intimate and sexy and this one is…. ugh. While other characters act uninteresting at least they don’t feel forced. K&M look like a teenager drama to me. It’s not that bad when it happens between lines, like Logans and Jennahs affection but we have literally cutscenes focused on both of them interacting with each other, creating a drama unrelated to the story of the game.

It’s not hard to tell english isnt my main language however I hope my thoughts are expressed clearly. I know there are other ppl around with similar thoughts about those characters. I hope after the feedback we will see an improvement from writers. Yeah… stupid me.

You’ve already downloaded beta files with last patch but only some players will get to test them.

Dungeons are almost 3 years old. We’ve beaten them every day many times. We mastered every path.

Dungeons are difficult but we learned them. If you want to do dungeons well OP, not exactly speedrun, learn them. Don’t expect other players to carry you.

And find a guild. Playing with pugs as new dungeoneer is a painful experience.

the problem here is mr styxx is devaluating OPs complaint which is a problem and I’m having fun defending OP who I agree with.

But you’re posting on a, well not entirely, public forum therefore you’re opening yourself up to be challenged by people who disagree with you. If you want a closed line of communication between yourselves and the developer then you should contact them directly via e-mails/private messages/support tickets (I’d prefer you did not do the last one as that would be a misuse of support resources that could be better utilised helping people who needed it).

I’m not taking anyones right to answer me. I want to make it clear I dont care about other players opinions. I care only about my money and experience. And customer support is a waste of time to post opiinons. Only public demands on forums make companies react because it can be seen by potential customers and they want to keep good looks.
