Stop making ideas about punishing ppl for playing open world. This is a type of content where you MUST accept there are ppl not always participating. If the rewarding code is fixed, the amount of leechers may be lower but there still will be ppl doing their own stuff, not giving a single kitten bout the event.
On the other hand, if such content was instanced it would allow ppl to kick leechers and devs would make it challenging, so trivialiazing it with 111111111 zerg would be impossible.
Oh wait, we have this already. It’s dungeons. How about making them bigger?
If there’s no elder dragon fight at the end of HoT you can already start calling it Living Story Season 3 “this time in a box”
Everyone wants to be Lara croft with unload on their 3. This is why dual pistols are amazing. With ricochet trait you can kill something sometimes.
You can’t force ppl to move in open world.

Why would Necros be that bad for Dungeons?
Daggers have decent dps and Well of Suffering basically deletes groups.The standard pvp power necro build should be perfectly fine for dungeons.
They are not bad in dungeons, they are not optimal for speed runs. I have been last one standing more then once finishing a boss on necro, those other four players being dead are not adding anything to the group.
I am almost certain before they died they did enough to this boss you could pew pew his last % of life and feel marvelous.
God I hope the sanity prevents them from making such a decision.

Technically, these dungeons were less buggy and offered more interesting challenges/puzzles than the AC I run daily.
The fact they got re-integrated in fractals because of community lobbying should tell you how appreciated they were.
This is both right and wrong. People wanted anet not to remove content in the first place so this is why they wanted those dungeons return. Same happens with LS1 now. It doesnt make them special but removing content is just (insert random insult here) and this is why ppl want it back.
When they say challenging group content and avoid word dungeon like fire during many interviews it means exactly we will get nothing. Null. Nada.
And hiring raid leader means more tequatls and reskinned wurms.
If they havent pushed Hrouda to leave we would have incredible dungeons now. Revamped, polished and CHALLENGING.

We had same discussions with Scarlet invasion on LA event. It was great to get so many chests for doing nothing. Frankly, they don’t care about fixing their reward coding. Why should I care about other players then?
I don’t play SW, unfortunately GW2 has become a zergfest all day long. However the only place I can understand making afk reportable offense is PvP environment. In open world pve punishing ppl for being afk is clearly an overreaction.
Solution? Fix rewards. Or make 11111111 2 111111 “raids” instanced so ppl can kick afkers. And fix rewards.

My guild runs dugeons with necros. And those are good necros. If someone is a bad player trying to spoil fun for entire party, it’s not the profession to be blamed.

Before ANet will decide to act, it would help to identify what the issue is. In my opinion, there are very, very few situations in which AFKers affect my ability to enjoy the game and complete content. Silverwastes is not one of them; I have yet to be on a map that failed primarily (or even likely) because of AFKers.
Mind you, I dislike it when people leech like that, but if they want to risk having their account banned for “botting” (even if it’s a small risk), then that’s their choice.
Botting is using 3rd party automated programs, afking is using guild wars 2 client.
Isn’t there? I think the seller is obligated to refund or replace what you bought in the shop in the short period of time after transaction (depending on country)

The devs said (in their promo video) they didn’t like the fact you had to grind. They said they weren’t going to make the game like other MMOs.

The system that encourages teamplay is better idea than punishing anyone. Carrot is better than stick.
Because a person stands in the area of the event is it exploit? You don’t know why someone is there. Can be a leecher. This is open world content so everyone can run around, do the gathering, exploring whatever he wants. If he accidentaly get inside even area and scales it up should he be punished?
All those ideas can harm innocent ppl. Fix rewards and maybe the way scaling works so when someone participated gets rewarded.

leechers aren’t literally afk, they are by the comps, doing other stuff and alt tabbing for rewards
I got rewards many times in this game for doing nothing. The best laughs were for events I didnt even know I was participating. This is the problem.
So leecher (this is correct form, afk should not have negative meaning) can take siege device and be immune to your debuff. I don’t feel like it’s going to be better.
You are forgetting that leechers can abuse both afk system, debuffs, kicks etc.
So for me the only way is to change reward coding, so the game checks how the contribution was done by individual or party and distribute the reward.
I think SW needs a debuff similar to the hot-foot debuff from the volcanic fractal (applies burning if you stop moving), but with a few changes – make it a combination of poison and burning so healing is less effective and change it so it is a longer delay before the debuff is applied (maybe 5 seconds of not moving). This debuff should apply when events are active and only within the area of the events (including anywhere a npc might revive you).
and again legit players will be annoyed with constant ticks of dps

Could you post the moment of HoT conference where Colin uses GvG or Guild vs Guild part? Because I remember him talking about guild ladder for guild parties to compete but nothing about GvG mode.
This is a charm of open world zergfests. You cant organise almost 100 of ppl.
Would be cool if ppl stopped calling stronghold a GvG.

CDI is a clever marketing strategy. To open discussion panel with players about things that are already in development, so at the end it may be advertised as player contribution.
So yeah… it looks great at board meeting but not so great at the end of the chain – the game.
How do you prove they are afk?
Anet has systems in place that prove when you are afk. Just leave your character somewhere for an hour, you will eventually be booted back to the character selection screen.
Also when a character is attacked by mobs and is not fighting back he is afk.
When a character stands around forever but uses his healing skill every minute to prevent getting kicked he is afk. (autocast on heal to prevent getting kicked is a common practice used by afkers) When a death player is just lying somewhere, and does not move upon getting revived and gets killed in that same spot later on he is afk.It’s not rocket science to determine when someone is afk. I don’t mind afkers but don’t pretent you cannot prove if someone is afk, because that’s just not true.
I can do all those things and still be sitting in game chatting with my guild. I dont understand why this should be punished. And with ranger or necromancer I dont even have to care about trash mobs running around because my pets can kill them. It can’t be even punished as botting. As I stayed above, leave afk timers because it will punish legit players more than exploiters. Just like DRM in new games is more annoying for legal customers than to pirates.
Fixing reward contribution tracker is a solution. Changing afk kick timer is moving around the problem.
