I agree with the OP….

Because of the current meta in WvW, everyone reroll heavy. They are tankier, and if played well, do a good amounts of damage.

Ppl say “hum hum, play alteration”. In a zerg, condition are down very quickly because of the number of gardians( +health from signet for W).

Others say “everyone has Cc”. It’s true. But when I play engi (one class with lots of CC) I have huge cooldowns….. I can’t spam CC like W does. Oh, yes, #4 rifle is CC with fast cd, but it’s for ONE target, and I’m stun aswell.

“Use stun breaker’…… Well, when a gardien jump on me and use his kittening CC circle, using Stunbreaker won’t help me to escape and to kite him. And, Stun breaker have cooldowns too. See point above.

So far, the only real weapons to counter heavies are Blindness and Immobilized. It’s fun to watch a 10 seconds root on an heavy, and burn him to death. But one dodge at the wrong moment, and it’s over.
But A-net still have to balance more WvW to make it viable for light and especially medium armor. Right now, those class are good for roaming or debuff (necro), but aren’t at the same level for big scale fights…

as well as a T3 turret stuffed with siege just like a Thanksgiving turkey.

We had this tower since the reset, and many players have been working hard to defend it…. Its lost was the worst news of the week-end :’(

We had a blast yesterday on BB BL (with VdE and some CoN)… But unfortunatly not much troops from BB before 10 pm. On the other hand…… DAT NIGHT !!

Yes, for me it’s a failure.

This season is killing my server. We were always between 10th and 7th before the season (EU). We had the choice to fail on purpose and go in Silver league, or fight “normally” and stay in Gold. We decided to play “fair” and to go in Gold.
And we had terrible match up : we met several time the 1st, 2nd and 3rd server of the pre-season. We were hoping for a “fair” match between the 9th, 8th and 7th…. but no.

So we have been fighting for weeks against server with more time coverage. Our “defensive” guilds have now left our server, because they were upset… We lost 3 guilds in the last 2 weeks. Did they go on SFR or Vs because we were too bad ? Nope, on bronze…

Meanwhile, our former opponents (10th, 11th..)who failed on purpose in order to be in Silver have really easy Mu, and are too powerful for the other ones.

There is a “gap” in every league : the 6 first servers of gold have more population and time coverage than the 3 last one, and the 4 first servers of Silver are stronger than the other one.

We need league made with 6 servers, not 9 (impossible with 27 servers I know..) …. or change the scoring system.

There are maybe more posts on the en forum because people have the feeling to be read and hope that a dev will answer one day ?
We don’t have this kind of hope on the french forum. Tons of thread are left without answers.
The fr community is huge, but prefer to post on other forums like JoL since they don’t feel concerned by the official one.

Btw I don’t ask for the same amount of posts on our forums, I just want that all vital informations posted here by dev or eventually players are transmitted to the other communities. And right now it’s not the case.

Hi everyone !

I want to talk in this topic about non-english speaking players, such as German, French and Spanish…

A lot of players on the forums feel like they just don’t matter anymore. Everything is happening here, and our dear CM are juste basically translators. Oh, wait…. they aren’t even translators, since they need to get an “official translation”, which takes way too long. I mean I’m still at school, and I’m sure I can translate the english dev posts faster than our CM.

To show what’s happenning, here’s an example with the Collaborative Development. In this forum, “Collaborative” makes sense, since devs are often posting and answering, explaining their choice and so on …
On other forums -spanish, french and german-, it seems like “Collaborative” means “Q&A”. We proposed our ideas and our topic. And then, 16 days later, we got this : german, french, spanish, with answers like “it’s not possible” or “it’s too hard to do.”
And that’s it. End of the collaboration for us.

So I have few questions :
- Who on earth needs 16 kittening days to translate a bunch of questions ?
- When devs are about to create a new thread, why don’t they give their text to the other CM in advance, instead of immediately posting on the en forum ?

CM would have time to translate it, and we could react at the same time than the other players, not days or weeks after.

- Why don’t we have more CM ??

I’m French, so I’ll take this example : we have 5 servers dedicated to France (and other french speaking countries as well) : VS, JS, AR, FR, As…. And only 2 CM. Why ??
Of course they’re overworked… We do our best to help them (like this topic), but it’s clearly not enough, and we miss lots of informations.
For example, no CM ever speaks about the Leaderboard reset… and it’s a huge change !

I don’t want to have an instant translation of everything posted here. I know it’s just impossible. But at least the major changes and the thread created by devs !

In summ, the other communities represent 13 servers (VS, JS, AR, FR, As, BB, Riv, Ko, AM, Dz, DL, Ms, ER). Which is 50% of Europeans servers, and 25% of all servers.
There are not only english speakers on Gw. Please give us more CM…

On a side note: Kodash players are usually the first to cry about hacks and/or bugs in the german forum, so it’s pretty fun to read all that “don’t blame a whole guild/server” – stuff from exactly the same people. :p

It has happenned today on Kodash BL at 1:10 am, and he was alone. A ranger, between Redlake and Shadaran.

And how am I supposed to bring proof ? A screenshot doesn’t show anything : only a video could be useful but I don’t want to fraps my game h24…

Ok, it might be a bug, but a super rare bug then. It’s the second time it happened in 5 weeks of fights… I call it a hack because the first time I encountered this problem, it was with members of a guild known to use hacks.

Nope, I mean : I had the option “stomp : press F”, I even made the nice animation before the stomp three times… Each time noting happened

So I think it’s not a glitch from the map, but a hack, in order to prevent ennemies to get point (bloodlust).

And thanks for the information. I’m sometimes confused between being down (where blindness has an impact) and being about to stomp

Congratulation to the guild Turns up [TP] fom kodash for using obvious hack… Impossible to stomp these guys (I hadn’t’ blind or anything, and I tried 3 times in a row).

They just ignore it, heal until they can get up, and run.

Translation for non-English speaking players

Not sure if it’s in the right section, but I want to talk about something really annoying.

The translation of some devs answers/threads in Spanish, French or German take too much time !
Normally, our CM should do it, but it’s so slow that some bilingual players must post links to the english forum and must create a “home-made” translation to inform our community.

The very last example of this problem is the 10 dec update preview…. 5 days before an official answer !
The german are the most clever one… They just took a translation from Guildnews.de

I mean, this preview isn’t like a Dostoyevsky book. It’s neither long nor difficult to translate.

Meanwhile, we feel a bit ignored. Already 32 pages on the en forum….
Our feedbacks count less than the ideas from english players ?

N.B : I know it’s hard to transmit all informations in a short delay but several days for a very important topic…

We are leading again against national servers. Wonder how many miracles we can pull out of hat.

It’s not surprising
An international server can gather players all around the world, providing a good time coverage and a high server population.
Vizunah is the only french server with a strong population outside the EUW timezone…. pretty much every players from Quebec are on this server.

I was surprised to see some CoN on SFR too… They told me that their Wvw players are on Augury while their PvE players are still on SFR. But it’s odd, I agree…

Nice fights so far !

Does anyone know the guild [FIVE] ? I’ve met them several times, and their behavior is…. strange

Well, it’s obviously an attack on a T3 + TP…… I don’t know how many of you were in this keep, but 10 omega seems legit for such a reset.

Last week, PS did a 20 omega rush on our garrison (T2)….

Cleansing Burst + Rockets boots don't heal

I’ve recently started to use rocket boots on my engi, and I’ve a strange bug…

When using Cleansing Burst (1 sec water field) directly followed by rockets boots (explosion combo), it seems like I don’t get any heal….

However, I’m sure that my timing is good, since I can see the cool animation of water combo.

I don’t know yet if players who don’t move are healed or not…

Bugged Queues

Queues will be fixed as part of the new map. They will continue to operate as they have since launch until then. The queue does not function as a typical queue and we are fixing it. It will just take some time. It has been a lower priority than the other things we have done and we’ve only now been able to devote the appropriate resources to it.

So it means : no change before 2014 ??

And does anyone know how queue appears ? Sometimes we are queuing and when we finally enter, we realise we are 40 on the map with 80+ ennemies on both other servers…

Yeah, our current problem is our off-peak hours…
During prime we do very well, with the same or a better income than our opponents.

We need more coverage to improve our rank, or at least to stay in L1 since every1 is recruiting

Language isn’t a real problem : almost every WvW players can understand english and can even follow a lead in english.

Come on, its a game. i normally /cry if i am trying to get away but some poor guy tries to kill me and i end up killing him. Thats about the only time i do it.

I know, but Tikitaka was swearing in a previous match-up that OdS is a respectful guild, which would never do such things. Finally you’re not better than an average guild.

@ Tikitaka : I’m on AR, so I don’t care what PS has done earlier… do you really think the seven shadows are the only roamers who have been killed and trolled by zerg ? Is it a good reason to say “noob, you and your family” ?

I remember that during the beta, we had a “Mine kit”, with no more than 5 kittening mines…. Could you imagine a real mine field in WvW ??? Awesome !

I use Throw mine in WvW, in close combat for the utility and in defense for the skill itself. The damage aren’t high enough…. but the debuff makes it useful sometimes.

It’s just like Vizu, scared of any open field fights. That’s some kind of annoying play-style!!!

I think BB player would agree that AR isn’t afraid of open field battle… Have a look at others match-up involving AR, no one ever says it. As any other server, there are blobs sometimes on AR, but it’s mainly because we’re lacking commanders, or for a special objective (keep T3 with Tp, for example).

Haters gonna hate. Why is RS a bad server to play against? Because they’re good at what they do? You want to win? Go and adapt your strategy to your enemys you’re facing. Complaining on the forums won’t get you a single point.

RS isn’t winning because they are better than us (and are they really better than us ?). Time coverage is a much more important parameter than skill. The data show clearly that you make the difference between 5 am and 11 am, when our players are sleeping/working.
You just have a better time coverage.

Anyway : nice fights tonight on AR BL. Thanks to VdE (beginning) and BLACK (end of the prime, accepting some pu in their raid) for leading, and congrats to Imp, Red and another guild for the fights

I have no problem with dungeon and fractals. It’s normal PvE, and still pretty fun

My problem is that I have the feeling that A-net focus too much on LS/world boss/temporary content and spend all its “engineering ressources” on it.

Moreover, the drop rate during these temporary event is just ridiculous… I have a friends that play only WvW and salvages all the craps he gets from loot bags.

He went once on LS and get 7 exotics in 1 hours.

PvE should be a third of GW, with PvP and WvW…. Currently it’s more like 70 % for PvE, 20% WvW and 10% PvP

Is Gw only about PvE ?

I have the feeling that Gw is based more and more on PvE…. What about PvP and WvW ?

- PvE : tons of titles and achievements, huge amount of gold, updates every 15 days….

- WvW : no titles (exept for hardcore gamer), a rain of greens in rank’s chest, lags, one update every 6 months…

- PvP : few new maps, one big update in a year, a huge gloryfarm exploit in Skyhammer…

For example I’ve been playing lots of WvW lately, hardly getting a gold weapon a week, and one day I’ve tried the lfg tool for a dungeon. In 15 min, 1g + 5 golds weapons..

During the beta and before it, the A-net team said that PvE would be really a living story, that WvW would be epic and that PvP would be at least as good as in Gw 1.
They lied on 2 of these 3 points….

I feel right now that A-net has 80 dev working on PvE stuff (mainly living story), 20 on WvW and 10 or less on PvP. That’s not what they announced for the game one year ago…

Am I just another whiner, or is it really happening ?

Yeah, that was me… I ran once through your group because of my auto-run

But, for example, I engaged a 1 vs 1 with one Riverside in the ruins above the mill, and suddenly all your guildmates who were on the bridge made a U-turn to kill me ^^
Later you chased me almost until my spawn ..

What’s exactly “an escape plan” ? I mean, you can hardly do anything else than run for your life …. next time I’ll take my rocket boots and hope for the best

But, as one OdS said in another match-up, it wasn’t a big problem for me… You can’t chase lone players and attack towers/keeps. Look at the income at that time

I’ve tried at least 5 times to find some 1 vs 1 on BB BL, and every single time I’ve been smashed by a larger group. For example, the kitten guild Virtual Masters [VM] from Riverside does not hesitate to fight with 10 vs 1….
Even when I ran away, they chased me. So don’t complain to find only big groups…

I mean, since quaggans will disappear, there won’t be any mercenary left… So this upgrade will simply be deleted ?

I still think that 90 % of players just don’t have the right build to fight you. It’s nearly impossible to kill you with builds used in zerg or guild raids.
BUT not with a proper build, designed for 1vs1 like you guys have.

Tikitaka, I’m the engi who often plays with an french/catalan Mesmer. You already have joined our team to speak with him several times.
I’m interessed in a 1 vs 1, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to play before the reset… I’ll mp if possible.

You mean like 1 year ago, when Piken, Baruch and AR loved each other so much that they met almost every week ?

If nobody roam solo in AR, it’s because we know that a silent and invisible threat is hidden during Match-ups with BB : the deadly [OdS]. (/bow to you guys)
We need specific builds to kill them and protect our Dolyaks, and these builds aren’t good for 1 vs 1 against other classes… And with “normal” builds, we are a too easy prey for them.

Rifle vs Cosmic Rift : bug ?

I had some trouble with my Engi to destroy the cosmic rifts. When I use the auto-attack from mid or long range, it says " obstructed ".

Is it intended ? or a bug ? Am I the only one with this bug ?

So far, the only way I’ve found to destroy it is to be very close to it (50 or 100 range) or to use a wrench…

Any feedbacks ?

No doubt that some players will cry about the double french focus on Deso… But do you REALLY think that we died multiple times against your AC and canons in order to help the Vizublob ?

We (in AR) are very disappointed about the level of Vizunah. We were hoping some nice teamfights, but finally….

One of our leaders says that fighting vs Vizu is just like Obelix fighting Romans. They control a large part of the map, use exclusively heavy armor golems to attack every single tower, attack only when they’re 2 vs 1 at least….. and are really bad in teamfight !

I’m sorry to say this, but we’ve met better servers in the previous match-up. Vizu is the first only because of their number, and their night teams….

But congrats to Deso, nice fights with you

I’m french too, and I think you should definitely try to eat snails… They taste awesome !

As for the topic, there is not so many PvE engi builds… HgH is still an option, FT works pretty well since the last update and I can maybe post my rifle build for PvE on the fr forum. It’s an very easy build with high damage but without any support/combo for the rest of the team.

Well, if “having fun” means focusing the weakest server of this match-up (even if VoTF were your main opponents int team fights, you were always attacking Fort Ranik tower/keep) with such a zerg, we don’t have the same definition of “fun”.

Hi !

We have a small problem here in AR… tonight the Abaddon have pulled the Lord of Woodhaven out of the tower. And he doesn’t want to reset or come back

It’s free farming for every roaming group there (but it’s not a problem, enjoy your free loots bags ) ; but it makes the capture of the tower much faster !
(for example, 2 rams on the door and the rest of the ennemies on the lord)

Could you please fix this ? Making the lord respawn INSIDE the tower for example ?

honestly, I like this week !
I have so much fun trying to break the german defenses… you guys know how to protect a keep

We were so upset on Saturday night, that we decided to organize a Super Rush Golem (Oola approves this message).

It was very funny and….. a big failure !

Warrior down #2 is the worst in the game

Warrior #2 is a single target 1 second cast time knockback

I rate warrior down just as bad as engineer. I am still debating because engineers have a better chance of trolling stompers than warriors.

I’m sure there is at least 1/2 or 1 second cast time for the engi too. It’s not in the description, but the animation before the skill is so long… Try it !
I would definitly say 1 s of cast time.

And for those who say that we are supposed to use #2 then #3. Well, try some real pvp : if the ennemy want to stomp you directly after you fall, you can’t cast #3 even if you interrupt his first attempt.
We need something like 5 sec less on reloading time to cast #3

Anyone running a pure turret build?

I’m playing a bunker build in sPvP with 3 turrets + crate (I hate that healing turret ).

It’s quite efficient, and the up of Rumble (now a stunbreaker) is a nice addition

As someone said earlier, mortar don’t need a better range (since Anet don’t want to go further than 1500). In WvW you can find some spot where grenades are useless (ennemies can focus you or bring you down of the wall).

And a too big range would cause some balancing problem : I’m sure some clever Engi will find unreachable spot ^^^

But A-net definitly need to change the hit box of the mortar… or to make it tougher. I mean, when I try to use it, 95 % of the time the mortar is destroyed in less than 10 sec. And I’m still full hp ( or almost full hp).
Come on, ít doesn’t even match with the RP… the weakest part of mortar is always the operator !

and A-net should fix the animation too. Sometimes the mortar can’t fire over the tiny wall which is on the ramparts. It’s a mortar, not a rocket launcher !!
