Agree with all above, the borderlands revamp looks awesome and I cant wait to roam around, a buff is also nice, just NO stat buff.

We know you once intended wvw to be a casual game, but the majority wants it to be competitive. A stat buff will only cause snowballing and make it even less competitive as it is now as PPT will mean nothing.

It only shows up if your guild hasn’t voted yet. In your case, one of the contacts has already voted.

This is because you are still logged in, yet your account doesn’t exist, remove your cookies from the website and you’re good to go

The new website is live, finally!

Exactly a month after that I started working on the new website, it’s finally done. Hundreds of hours went in this project and I hope that you guys will enjoy it and find it useful to work with.
The new website will be hosted on the same domain: http://www.gw2gvg.com

Here are some of the things listed that might be handy when visiting the new website:

New url paths and url rewriting

All the old urls have been replaced with new urls that are easier to read, therefore if you have a link on for example your website, youtube or twitch, it’d be appreciated if you’d change it.

How can this be useful?

For example, you want to view the american leaderboards, the url would now be: http://gw2gvg.com/leaderboard/na

Well, that’s an easy one, but what if we wanted to see the guild profile of VII? The url would now be: http://gw2gvg.com/guilds/profile/VII

Or even more complicated, what if I directly wanted the Everything Purple vs Aggression match? The url would now be: http://gw2gvg.com/matches/info/EP/Agg

To make your life even more easier, a breadcrumb trail has been added so you can’t get lost in all the pages!

The new homepage
Well this one is kind of obvious, in case you missed it, the homepage has been changed.
Instead of just showing you the leaderboard, it will now give you an overview of everything that has been happening around the scene!
The GvG Showdown episodes, hosted by Ogre, will now update in realtime on the website.

The new leaderboard
In case you are missing some guilds on the leaderboard, this could have to do with the following.

The leaderboard has been devided in region, game mode and date. On top of this has been added that a guild will only show up in the leaderboard if that guild has done a match in that month, of that game type, in that region. By not showing up I mean the guild will just be hidden and won’t lose it’s rating. This is to prevent dodging from happening and to have a more accurate leaderboard as guilds have to stay active in order to compete.

History and medals
To honor retired guilds, a history function has been added to the leaderboards and latest matches page. Now guilds will never be forgotten.
Guilds that ended up in the first, second or third place in any of the game modes at the end of the month will be awarded a medal that will be shown at their guild profile.

The new authentication system
On the new website you won’t log in as your guild anymore, but as ‘you’. This means your username will now be your e-mail address. Your password remains the same.
This means that now guild members also will have access to their own accounts, once approved by the guild officer(s) they can represent their guild on the website.

Videos & comments
Once you are a member and are approved by your guild as their member you will have access to these two functions. You will be able to highlight your videos of your GvGs and you will be able to comment on every match out there and discuss with all the others.

Friendly matches
You will now be able to challenge guilds to friendly matches, these are matches that won’t affect any rating but will create a dicussion page and gives you the option to add videos to it.

Challenging guilds
The way you challenge a guild has been changed, instead of going to their profile page and challenge them, a new challenge page has been added.
On this challenge page there will be a section ‘Suggested challenges’, which will show all the guilds that are in your current matchup and have said they are available for GvGs.

Guilds
A list of all registered guilds is now available with a search functionality.
Guilds will now be able to add their recruitment status and write a short introduction about their guild which will be shown at their guild profile.

You do know they would have to change their entire system, rework all the maps, add more towers and keeps on the already too small maps, balance all the maps, decrease the map population per server and add or remove EU servers.

Ye this suggestion seems valid, I think they’ll add it next month.

I’m the ignorant one? Show me the proof that 70% of small guilds are GvG guilds. The GvG community is small compared to all the players that participate in WvW, they shouldn’t be denied a fine update simply due to a style of play that was NEVER meant to be played in WvW.

The most important part of the buff is the points on staked player.
If you are in a Borderland you will be wanting these points for your team.

Don’t forget this, if you get the buff taken off you will not be supporting your server.

GvGs and Fight clubs don’t score points at that moment anyway, except for the maybe 1 or 2 stomps that will only count for one as it will be within a timespan which is countered by anet.

I’m pretty sure GvGs wont be held when the buffs are on, it would give an unfair advantage to one of the guilds.

I haven’t watched the stream myself, so maybe you phrased it wrong. But how can you punish something that is not possible to do?

Imo, none of those listed are point trading, it’s just not point taking.

Dont forget to +1 that post, it gives more attention to the devs than just /signed.

Also, dont give up, we’ll find a way. Soon we’ll see how many guilds are interested in a gvg matchup which should help defeating the orb.

You can only melt if your positioning is wrong, you can go as glassy as possible, just dont be in the wrong places, or have a blink if you dont feel confident

While I’m not sure of this, I think the rune got added for the mesmer considering the recent buffs to the interrupt build.

Bringing this rune in the game actually made me play my mesmer again as confusion was suddenly viable again.

Now the rune might be overpowered on the engineer, I think it’s perfectly in line for the mesmer.

Nerfing the rune, would not mean nerfing the engineer, it would mean nerfing all classes using the rune and it would make the confusion mesmer a joke again.

Wrong, siege ruins wvw. Omega golems just speed up the process of making a borderland clean to fight in without anyone running behind their walls.

Unless some major bugs show up, the new gw2gvg website will be live before the end of the week.

I was too looking forward seeing XxX again, is months ago when we faced you on AG vs Gandara. Shame the only time we saw you you turned around and dissapeared in a cloud of smoke, only to never turn back around.

That is for the guilds to decide for themselves, speaking for FURY, we roam for fights and I expect most guilds to not care for PPT.

@Trip, as I said, primetime is all GH got, there would be place for american guilds, just not europian

It would indeed be 90 guilds if all servers were completely deserted, Im thinking 50 guilds would be a good ammount to aim for.

I think the 7 weeks will serve as a trial, Im not sure if the leauges will start over after that, or that it will turn into regular wvw. Anyway, im pretty sure guilds dont have a gvg that night will just do normal wvw.

@triplios, Yes all of GH guilds run every night, we have always 3 borders queued with one guild already on the last one. GH doesnt have any coverage besides primetime and the guilds dont care for PPT.

Marty I think your GvG website might be a good place to put up a sign up and polls once the new site is up. Lots of things would need to be discussed and clarified.

1. Which league to move to ? Mid Tier EU – Low Tier EU
2. How will the guild allocation work? Seeded based on current rankings? Or based on international vs french/german servers?
3. What is going to be the format of the league? Will there be two separate leagues for 15v15 and 20v20?

Alright, let’s just keep this thread for discussing then.

As for the suggested mid tier EU, I still think this is a bad idea. For me it would be great, as I’m already in a mid tier server and I wouldn’t have to transfer, but for other guilds that would still have to find a server would be impossible. There would just be too many queues. For example Gunnar’s Hold, which is placed last in the silver leauge would only have place for 1 europian guild. There are also servers with loads of people already there, like AM, Gandara, AG and BB.

Yes, maybe you could place all guilds on the mid tier servers, but there would be queues making border switching a really hard thing to do.

Then there’s also the issue that there are 4 monolingual servers out of the 9 in the silver leauge, while that’s 2 out of 9 in the bronze leauge.

Personally I think we would ruin the pug’s fun also less in the bronze leauge as there are.. well less of them.

Anyway, this is a good point for discussion and ofcourse really depends on how many guilds would sign.

Either way what it’s going to be, in my opinion locking down a leauge for all GvG guilds, roaming and actual GvG wise would be awesome and should happen nonetheless.

Enjoy fighting vabbi, whiteside, blacktide, FoW, they dont have the pugs to fight, some of these servers are happy the way they are low pop and dont have to handle zergs, which will then come in the form of 30-40 man guild groups, it would destroy their little comunity in the process.
You need the pugs to strenghten your guild and keep up the fun when fighting against them and playing off primetime.

Not to mention a lot of guilds want to fight big numbers when they feel like it, people who are highest tier will probably stay there tbh

I would indeed enjoy fighting those servers if there are guilds on those servers, if your guild prefers to fight pugs than so be it. The question is what guilds are interested, noone forces you to if you’re not.

The bottom tiers will be too barren for when there aint much gvg’s going on imho… but the middle tiers will have the best of both worlds… if guilds move to the servers with space instead of stack on one’s that are already full… the bottom half of the mid tier the likes of Fort Ranik,underworld, Drakkar’s, gunnar’s probally has some space during prime time and if bigger guilds spread out across those from the higher tiers, then the likely hood of a dead match up will be decreased considerably… or people ducking gvg fights…

I disagree. Being on gunnar’s myself there is not many space left for guilds to join and gunnar’s would be the lowest server in the 2nd leauge of EU, imagine servers above it.

I don’t understand why people are affraid there won’t be anything happening besides GvGs, as most guilds do only one or 2 GvGs a week and the rest they will be out in the open field, depending on how many guilds are interested for this kind of play there should be plenty of fights.

What I have in mind is that we have 9 servers and we would spread out all guilds that are interested over the 9 servers.

Why in my opinion the bottom tiers are better than the mid tiers is because of the queues, you won’t be able to fit all guilds in the same leauge (without queues) in the mid-table. While servers like arborstone, vabbi, fow, wsr, ros have lots of spaces alone.

So if I’m correct they are going to lock down all servers per ‘league’ this would be 12 servers for NA and 9 servers for EU.

The question is now, can we make the bottom 9 servers of EU our GvG/roaming leauge?

This would mean:
- plenty of guilds to fight during primetime
- no PPT play
- roamers of every guild during off time
- lots of GvG possibilities
- always a server to help you with the orb issues
- EU and NA together
- queues should be ok if we spread everyone out over the 9 servers as there are barely queues on those servers now.
- scoring points won’t move your server up as the leauge is locked down, this should help with both EU and NA playing.

I’d like to comment on the glicko 2 discussion.

First of all, a computer will never be able to think like a human, so dont expect it that to be.

Glicko will use all the info it has, if you dont register some of your matches, how is glicko going to know?

The formula has been changed on the website, taking way more stuff into account when giving out rating. This is NOT visible on the current website, but will be on the new one.

I personally agree that rating doesnt mean anything and you should GvG nonetheless, but if you want to know who’s the best, glicko is your man. Why? Because Glicko doesnt have feelings, glicko doesnt have pride, glicko doesnt make exceptions.

I personally think some guilds are highly overrated by the people, and others are underrated, again, glicko doesnt have feelings and will just show you what it is. If you want to compare your own expectations to the glicko system, then it is never going to be the same. You may think bad of guilds you havent fought, or maybe are in lower tiers and dont GvG against the other top guilds, while glicko just uses numbers and rates them individually for their performance.

To give an example how the new formula affects the ladder: on the old website EP is place 14th after beating Agg with 7-0, while using the new formula they are actually in the top 3.

Are there any plans of introducing a leaderboard for GvG’s with 5 or less players per team? It doesn’t seem like a complicated thing to do and I know a lot of people would like it.

Unless there is going to be alot of interest towards 5 man GvG’s there’s not going to be a leaderboard for them (Only one 5 man GvG has been submitted until now on the website).

Although the leaderboards will not show the 5 man, there will be a friendly mode which will accept all numbers.

Before we’d turn this place into our playground, I think I’m forced to reveal some stuff about the upcoming gw2gvg website..

The new website is going to focus more on becoming a tool, an archive and a social platform, rather than just the leaderboards it is now.

This means, that the leaderboards will not be the page anymore once you enter the website, but it will be an overview of what has been happening, or going to happen. What I mean by that is that the homepage is going to show the following sections:

- Upcoming matches,
- Latest matches
- Popular matches
- Latest GvG showdown episode (updates realtime)
- Latest videos placed on the website
- Latest comments placed on the website

And all sections will be supplied with the info if the match is official/friendly, has a video or not and if new comments have been placed.

So.. what are the comments I’m talking about? Well basicly what you guys just suggested here, every match will have it’s own comment section, where the match can be discussed. The match page is also going to show all the videos of the match that have been added by their members.

Now, to prevent any trolling from happening, you are going to need a Gw2 GvG account in order to be able to post a comment, this means that in the future you won’t log in as your guild anymore but as ‘you’. On the website you can apply to a guild which has to be approved by a member with the rank to do so.

That the website is going to focus more on being a tool/archive/social platform doesn’t mean the leaderboards are going away. Quite the opposite actually, the leaderboards will come with major improvements that will keep the incentive up for guilds to stay active in the GvG scene and also in different categories (10,15,20,25) without punishing the guilds that do not stay active.

If enough are interested, I could look into setting up a forum hosted on the gw2gvg website, this will however take the attention away from the devs as I don’t expect them to check the website reguraly, or at all.

Also, I will contact everyone that has signed up for the alpha testing tomorrow, so if you want in send me a PM by tomorrow

I think a more succesful time would be from noon to 3pm PST or so. That’s 9-12pm EU

If it’s divided, that sense of ranking protection should calm a bit if a guild could be #1 20v20 but #5 in 10v10. They would still be the best in their category of choice while still being able to branch out.

Please stop saying that there is nothing wrong with the mesmer and then show a duel or roaming video. We know that mesmers are good for duels/roaming, this is the wvw forum.
