But the NPC wouldn’t actually know what to hit, would he?
I like the NPC’s growing stronger when outmanned idea tho.

Also there should be indeed more workers in a keep and players should not be able to take supply from the supply depot in a tower/keep without permission from a commander. I also would like to see a deposit button on the depot.

This question is meant for the developers, so please let them answer it.

We all know the commander title costs 100 gold at the moment, but there are several posts that are asking for a new way to get the title.
I also read a post that you are working on a new ranking system within WvW.

My question is, is the commander title affected by this new ranking system?
If i would buy a commander title now, would I be wasting 100 gold?

The reason for this is to prevent more rendering issues. So it would be either that you see enemies in 1 color, or no enemies at all.

What you are describing is indeed just player scouts. Every server should have them. If you don’t that is your reason that your server is struggling with organisation. How can you organize if you don’t know what is going on?

I personally think radars would mess up strategies and you will get zerged even more, because they know exactly where you are and with how many.

Culling issue is the number one problem in portal bombing. But another issue, portal make people do turtle automatically (regardless you know or not). Maybe in 2 s defender (you) can downed several people out of portal, but after that, you will see your AOE capped to only 5 person and cannot down anymore people.

Solution I propose:
1. Mesmer portal should have a limit in the number of person it portalled. Maybe 15 – 20 person is good idea. (its still big number, but it need at least two mesmer to transport 30 – 40 people or more to transport more people).
2. Portal can only be used in one way (it means you cannot portal back to your original location).
3. Portal cannot stack (so two mesmer cannot stack two portal in one location).

1. That would be a number I can live with.
2. No, portals need to go both ways, portals aren’t just a transportation skill. They are also used as fight skills, for example versus melee enemies.
3. This would mean if I put my portal next to another portal and I would go another way people couldn’t follow me? This would create a whole other problem.

AOE and Portal Range

I don’t know for the AoE but the portal can only be placed at the mesmer’s location, it has a range but does not need a line of sight. So if the mesmer already was at your wall and then jumped down then yes, your wall does not need to be breached.

When im out with 1 or 2 parties we always res our teammates, but we wait for the right time to do it, either when they just got downed, or when it is safe to res. When there is aoe you can just use your timewarp and res with 4 at the same time, aoe won’t do anything then. And if the enemies start ressing just charge and knock back, don’t let them, that’s the way to win.

I find it fun that every class on his own is outbalanced to the rest according to the different forum posts.
Thieves should not be nerfed, it’s just the way they play and what they are good at. Without the stealth a thief would be too easy. And yes i find thieves very annoying myself to fight against, but I like challenges.

Now on the problem, I liked what Spica suggested, just make the rings smaller, it would be way harder for a thief to perma stealth smaller rings.

It promotes mindless zerging, it abuses the hell out of a weak point in the game engine, in fact the reason portal bombing is most used is to abuse the culling/clipping/rendering issue. Forgoing defenses, when you break a wall are pushed out and the wall is rebuilt only to sneak a mesmer in devalues siege equipment.

So tell me, how is this mindless?
Not that I want to promote the rendering issue, because this isn’t the way to play it. But by nerfing the portals you will punish the players. Zergs will find other ways to abuse the rendering problem, only the mesmers won’t have their portals anymore.
The portals aren’t the problem, the rendering issue is.
I only think the portals should be colored according to your team’s color, but that’s it.

I agree to moving it or atleast create a likewise boss at the other 2 sides aswell but removing is a bit to much imo. It should be tempting to do it to distract people from the main combat. To be honest first time I saw the grub I though he was attacking the keep walls. That would have been nice stuff having a boss to worry about aswell as the other enemy players to distrupt the flow of the map.

I think it would be awesome too if there was a boss attacking your keep, but that means there should be bosses at the other keeps aswell. Which will create too many bosses IMO. Which maybe can be solved with a really long respawn time..

It really does getting old, bragging about the portals. It’s just a dynamic strategy. Remove it and the only thing you will see is people banging on your door, sorry but I would like to see some variety in the field. Not knowing what their tactic is and how they are trying to take your tower.
And please, stop saying it is unbalanced, mesmers can’t hold supply camps for 30 minutes stealthed on their own. These are just things players worked for to achieve, removing them will punish those players, not the zerg.

I totally agree with you that it should be moved to a different location.
I never have been on the blue team yet and so the only chance to kill it was by capturing the tower right next to it, otherwise when you almost succeeded you will get killed by enemies who just run past.
I can’t know how annoying it is how many allies of blue go to kill the grub, because I never been blue, but the way I see it is that it is also an advantage for the blues, because when they kill it they get badges of honor, thus siege weaponry.

Long story short, positive or negative for blue, it should be moved, because it’s definetly not equal for all teams.

So having a shortbow that spews rainbows and has a unique skin makes someone more powerful than someone that has an exotic shortbow with exactly the same stats.

WvW only legendary items is an amazing idea, I’m quite frankly shocked I haven’t seen this suggested sooner.
Allow the items needed to craft them to be purchasable with badges of honor, make the badge of honor drop rate 1 per kill, and increase the amount required for WvW armor.

So according to you everyone has an exotic weapon?

And don’t get me wrong, I would like to see WvW legendary weapons, I just didn’t like the terms and gave my opinion. I saw the OP edited the leading team to the leading team at the moment, I think that is a better idea.

But the higher drop rate in higher tiers will only result in an extra reason to move to a higher tier. It will make the lower tiers less interesting.

So you watch the map and not communicate through the /team for the others, you just loll about capping camps and avoiding the zerg. See if the zerg wasnt shown you would be meeting more secured camps that are more upgraded and you would not roll it so easily. This is what we face right now, cap and run and hope it does not get recapped before the timer reaches down.

A better pointsystem should be done aswell, +1 tic on a non upgrade supplycamp, +5 on a fully upgraded one. But yea thats another post.

Ofcourse i communicate via the team chat, that is what its for right. I roll all camps on our way, secured or not. If you’re with 4/5 people you can cap a camp within a minute (upgraded or not). This way we support the zerg doing their thing, either they can resupply easily or the enemy has no supply coming his way. And its not hoping if it won’t be retaken before the timer is over. If you really want the camp then you defend it. Even if you are outnumbered. A few days ago I held a camp for 15 minutes with 4 players vs 20 without siege, imagine how long we could have hold it with siege.
I don’t see the markers as a problem, they extend ur knowledge on what is going on in the field. You will always need scouts for numbers, so markers are only an indication, but they will help you.

Why do they want them removed? It removes strategy. All you have to do is look at your map to know something is being hit. You don’t have to leave a player behind to report back.

It also makes ninja caps for small groups MUCH harder, because the zerg can respond near instantly.

I like strategy, so I think they should not be removed. I use the markers to see where I can strike next. Usually I am in a small group of max 5 players to ninja camps. We never see zergs, because we know what to strike and we’re gone when the zerg arrives.

You are doing something wrong, i’ve got less kills and 750 badges.. And why do you want to deny your enemy his badges? I mean he killed you, he won, he earned them.

I’m going to say this out loud, you sir are full of it. I have 6000+ kills and only racked up around 1200-1300 badges.

I don’t know why I’m getting alot of badges then. Besides the jumping puzzles which I do alot I think as mentioned earlier it has something to do with how you are in combat. I almost never man siege, I charge at people before others dare to. I also loot everything and when I’m killed I let my guildies revive me so I can still loot it.

Also if you want more badges, you can do the jumping puzzles, they give a nice ammount of badges every day.

Also others can’t see that you are level 4. So if you just don’t put yourself in the spotlights and run with some kind of group you will be fine and can be really usefull. I myself leveled my account from level 20 to level 80 in wvw. It does go really fast if you just kill all sentries and yaks and ofcourse run with people to take towers and keeps.

No, bad idea.

You forget about the possibility where 2 servers are attacking the same keep, this happens alot at Stonemist Castle.
Your idea would mean that if the first server gets the keep, the second server who is attacking has no chance of taking it, while they should because they also worked for it!

Tiers should be expanded / variety in matchups.

Trusted? You act like when people see a portal they don’t automatically run to it and mash the use button just to see where it takes them.

Besides that no amount of talking is gonna convince people portal bombing is hard to do.

1 skill gives you the ability to move as many people as you want around an the map as you please.

1 skill can determine the outcome of a siege on both the offensive and defensive.

No other single skill in the game even comes close to being the game changer that portals are.

There are just to many upsides to having portals and not enough downsides. Expect the skill to be changed in the near future.

I can tell you out experience that people don’t use portals when you don’t tell them to, because they won’t know if it is safe, only the mesmer knows where the portal will take them. Besides u can only know if the portal is of your team if you are standing on top of it and since it only lasts 20 seconds, you have to be really fast.

What you’re saying that you can portal people around the map is partly true, as I said there is a range and it is not that big. For the next portal u have a 1 minute cooldown, so u cannot portal people around the map on your own.

If your enemy is well organized a portal cannot change the effect of all the siege, yes you can skip some, but not all if they are set up right.

And what do you think of the thief’s stealth skill? Doesn’t it come close? Since the same ammount of players can ambush you unseen.

Besides maybe there are no downsides to the portal skill, but it does take a slot, and that one could be an important one. So it does have a downside.

Portal Bombing

I am a mesmer myself and i want to clear up some things..
As stated before, a mesmers job is actually harder than it looks like, you have to know the tactics yourself.
I myself only portal groups when I know it will be good for the team, i won’t just portal them to the gate knowing they will get killed instantly. You have to make a decision on your own as a mesmer like can we take the tower/keep with the people who step through your portal, will they even come through your portal, how are the defenses, when will te enemy be here. It is not just that a mesmer drops a portal, well at least not the ones who know what they are doing.
And yes maybe are mesmers really game changing in WvW, they can be only be of any use if they know what they are doing.
Also to portal groups you have to be trusted by the people who will follow you, a mesmer alone can’t bring a whole group together to follow him through a portal (unless he is a commander ofcourse). Your team has to be really organized to make use of this kind of tactic.
Portals do have a range, so you have to know as a mesmer how far you can go because the range is not mentioned in the skill, also a portal only lasts for 20 seconds.
As i have seen in previous comments, portals are not that obvious. They are indeed not, but that means they are not as obvious for the mesmer’s allies aswell.

I also read something about that a mesmer can just walk past the defenses of a keep, well we can’t. As a mesmer you have to know when the attack is going to fail and you have to hide at the right time, sneak past the enemies and make sure no one sees you. This is actually a pretty hard job because even when you succeed to hide, after the failed attack everyone will search the area for mesmers so you have to hold the enemies off.
One time i even had to wait for 20 minutes at a tower because my team couldn’t get close enough for my portal, I had to kill a few enemies in the tower, if they don’t inform their team about a mesmer being in their tower, it is not the mesmer who has an advantage, it is just a lack of communication on their team.

I don’t think they should change anything to the portal system because it works as a great tactic, saying that a mesmer has an advantage is true, but it is not an easy advantage. I actually myself find thieves way to overpowered in WvW, and it is almost impossible for me to take out a guardian. Every class has its advantages, not just the mesmer.
