Sorry about that everyone!
I did forget that Monday was the 4th of July.
So this will be happening tomorrow.
Sorry about that everyone!
It will not be tonight, or next Tuesday, but sometime after that.
I can’t give you an exact day yet, since there are still some technical changes that need to happen before we can run different Borderlands at the same time, but I will let everyone know once we know for sure it is ready to go out.
The poll has ended! After removing all votes for “Don’t Count My Vote” the final results are:
78.5% Simultaneous Borderlands
21.5% Rotating Borderlands quarterly
This means that the team will add the Desert Borderlands back into play as one of the Borderlands maps and will keep the other two maps as the Alpine Borderlands. Thank you to everyone who voted!
Hello everyone,
We are going to be removing the artificial transfer restrictions we placed on linked worlds. Linked worlds originally had these restrictions to prevent them from achieving double the population of unlinked worlds, through mass transfers. This safeguard has, so far, proved unnecessary and we think it is doing more harm than good. We’ll be removing this restriction on Monday; which means some worlds that are currently Full will drop to Very High or High. As always, we’ll be closely monitoring world populations after making this change, in case further adjustments are needed.
Hello everyone,
Many of you have been inquiring as to why we made the decision to remove the crafting stations in WvW. We made this decision because we have been seeing an increase in queue times with world linking. Upon observation we found there have been players taking up space in the maps who are only crafting and not participating with their teams. However, we’ve been listening to your feedback today and we wanted to let you know that we will be adding a banker to each team starting area in EB, Alpine and Desert. Thank you for the continued feedback!
Since I have seen some confusion on this, we always remove “Don’t count my vote” votes when we calculate the final percentages.
The “B” Menu only shows the world linking composition of a single matchup, whereas the forum post lists all of the updated world links.
Here are the worlds for NA:
• Blackgate
• Tarnished Coast
• Yak’s Bend
• Jade Quarry & Anvil Rock
• Dragonbrand & Isle of Janthir
• Fort Aspenwood & Sanctum of Rall
• Maguuma & Devona’s Rest
• Sea of Sorrows & Northern Shiverpeaks
• Darkhaven & Ehmry Bay
• Stormbluff Isle & Henge of Denravi
• Sorrow’s Furnace & Ferguson’s Crossing & Gate of Madness
• Crystal Desert & Kaineng & Eredon Terrace & Borlis Pass
Hello everyone,
I’d like to take a moment to answer some questions that I’ve seen asked frequently.
Q: What factors go into determining world links?
A: We take into consideration a lot of factors when making the links, but the primary factor we look at is the WvW activity level for each world, during peak and off-peak hours. The goal being to normalize world populations among unlinked worlds and groups of linked worlds. For EU we also filter potential links by language.
Q: Why did Desolation get linked when they were “Full” while Seafarer’s Rest, and other worlds that aren’t “Full”, not get linked?
A: Desolation has a smaller population than Seafarer’s Rest. Desolation appears “Full” in the world selections panel due to us artificially lowering the population caps for linked worlds. We lower the population caps for linked worlds so that linked worlds can’t achieve double the population of unlinked worlds.
Q: Why do so many German worlds remain unlinked?
A: Most German worlds are around 70% of our target population capacity. If we were to link them they would be well over our target population capacity. This means that they would have long queues, and would be significantly larger than the other worlds.
Worlds have now been re-linked.
We have reset glicko volatility and deviation for all worlds to the same value, but have left their rating unchanged (this includes worlds that were previously guest worlds but are now host worlds). Just to reiterate, resetting glicko volatility and deviation will result in greater rating shifts in the first few matches. This will give worlds the opportunity to move into their ideal matchup tier much faster.
Here are the worlds for EU:
• Baruch Bay (SP)
• Kodash (DE)
• Riverside (DE)
• Elona Reach (DE)
• Dzagonur (DE)
• Abaddon’s Mouth & Miller’s Sound (DE)
• Drakkar Lake (DE)
• Jade Sea (FR)
• Augury Rock (FR)
• Vizunah Square & Arborstone & Fort Ranik (FR)
• Piken Square (EN)
• Seafarer’s Rest (EN)
• Gandara & Fissure of Woe (EN)
• Desolation & Ruins of Surmia (EN)
• Aurora Glade & Blacktide (EN)
• Far Shiverpeaks & Vabbi (EN)

Hey guys, since I’m seeing this topic pop up a lot, I wanted to step in and clear up some misconceptions.
1. Nearly every player that voted, plays WvW at least somewhat regularly.
2. Whether they play 1 hour a week, or dozens of hours a week, the breakdown between people who voted ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ remains very constant around the 65/35 split.
3. The in-game poll notification mail is only sent to players who are actively playing WvW. They must be at least rank 10, and have ranked up while the poll was running.
The poll has ended! After removing all votes for “Don’t Count My Vote” the final results are:
65.5% No: The Desert Borderland map should continue to be supported.
34.5% Yes: The Desert Borderland map should be permanently disabled.
This means that the Desert Borderlands map will continue to be supported. Next, the Mixed Borderlands poll will be re-run to determine how the Desert Borderlands map will re-enter play. Thank you to everyone who voted!
It is a text bug. The WvW Reward Track boost increases reward track gain and not WvW Experience. We caught the bug last minute and weren’t able to change the text in time for the release.
This is intentional. We made the change to help with nameplate visual clutter in WvW.
I’ve seen some people ask why all of the poll options were on a monthly basis rather than something like 6 weeks. Tying evaluations to months allows us to say ’We’ll run it on the last Friday of the month, or every other month, etc." which is easier to remember. If you know we are updating links on the last Friday of every even month, you always know exactly when links will potentially change, but if instead it was on a 6 week cadence, you would have to do math and count the number of weeks since the last reset, and if you don’t know when the last reset was, then you have no idea when the next reset will be.
The poll has ended! After removing all votes for “Don’t Count My Vote” the final results are:
38.1% Reevaluate match-ups monthly.
28.9% Reevaluate match-ups quarterly.
15.9% Reevaluate match-ups every other month.
11.6% Reevaluate match-ups every 6 months.
5.5% Reevaluate match-ups every 4 months.
After analyzing the results we have decided to go with a 2 month world linking evaluation schedule because the majority of players voted for evaluations to be more frequent than quarterly but less frequent than monthly. Since we have decided to reevaluate every 2 months we will be reevaluating the current world links and making adjustments on the very last Friday of every even month starting this month on the 24th. Thank you to everyone who voted!
The missing invulnerability at the spawn points is unintentional and will be fixed in the next patch.
In the next release, a 6th pip is being added to the provision master ability line that allows you to buy HoT recipes, sigils, and runes from the heroics notary vendor.
Concerning a 3rd map, priorities are still community driven. We wouldn’t start building another WvW map unless it was put to a vote, and won.
I have seen a few posts inquiring if we could rotate between Alpine and Desert Borderlands faster than quarterly and I just wanted to clarify on why we currently proposed doing it quarterly. When we rotate maps we have to wipe score, objective status, and various other things to give us a clean startup when we swap maps. We also have to swap maps on Tuesdays because it requires a build (and currently production revolves around Tuesday releases and it isn’t reasonable to change the game-wide release schedule). Since rotating the maps currently involves disrupting the active match, the more often we rotate the maps, the more matches we end up disrupting. This manual map rotation is both time consuming for developers and disruptive for players. Assuming the community votes to keep the borderlands map rotation strategy, we’ll want to eventually automate this process, in a non-disruptive way, but before we would start that work, we’d need the community to prioritize that project over other WvW needs.
The poll has ended! After removing all votes for “Don’t Count My Vote”, the final results are:
82.7% – Yes
17.3% – No
This mean that World Linking is now officially a Guild Wars 2 Feature. Thank you to everyone who voted!
Proper matches is subjective, but as for the relinking schedule we plan to hold a poll to determine how often it should happen (this is assuming World Linking wins the current poll).
It is also important to clarify that even though we might be able to hold relinking more regularly than quarterly there will still need to be some amount of weeks, we are still determining how many, before we can hold another relink because of glicko and time spent to make the match ups.
I’ll quote Tyler for this thread:
The Tier 1 Weapons will be made available in an upcoming Reward Track, much like the armor already is.
We haven’t fully decided how to distribute the T2 Weapons and Armor yet. Though, we are currently leaning towards players purchasing them with a currency that they’d earn as a match reward. We may also set rank requirements for the various pieces, so you’d need to be a relatively high rank(1-2k) to purchase a full set.
You have to be above level 10 and also earn a rank to receive the mail.
A message from the WvW Team,
The next WvW Poll is up!
https://feedback.guildwars2.com
Please share your thoughts and feedback on the poll in this thread!
We plan to do everything on the poll. This poll is to help us set priorities of what order you would like to see them.
For more information on the options in the poll, I recommend checking out Tyler’s Let’s Talk Scoring Thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Let-s-Talk-Scoring
Adjust scoring to be relative to current activity and population (Large) is the Skirmish idea Tyler explained in this thread.
Changes to Match Structure:
- We’ll split the week long matches into 2 hour time slices we are calling ‘Skirmishes’
- Warscore is used to determine the winner of a Skirmish
- Skirmishes award varying amounts of Victory Points based on placement
- Victory Points are used to determine Match victor
- When a Skirmish ends, Warscore is reset, but actual map-state remains unchanged
And PPK:
*The amount of score earned from PPK will be increased, so that it contributes more to the overall score.
*As a rough number, PPK may increase to 3-5 points, rather than 1, with diminishing returns on killing players who have been alive for less than 5 minutes.
*We will also rebalance the Warscore for Caravan Kills, Caravan Delivery and Sentry Captures.
The poll on this topic is up: https://feedback.guildwars2.com
In the future poll notifications will be sent to WvW players through in-game mail. The mail will still direct players to the same website we have been using for polls but this should help the visibility of the polls.
The poll has ended! The finals votes were:
Yes 68.03%
No 13.06%
Don’t count my vote 18.91%
We calculated the votes by removing all the votes that voted for “Don’t count my vote” which made the final percentages:
Yes 83.90%
No 16.10%
Since ‘yes’ won by more than 75%, we will be finalizing all polish and feedback items and preparing reward tracks so they can be removed from beta! Thank you to everyone who voted and left feedback!
We definitely plan to add more reward tracks in the future.
Also since I still see some confusion, WvW reward track potions will be added to dailies once the feature exits beta.
(edited by McKenna Berdrow.2759)
The latest WvW poll is on the subject of Reward Tracks. Please share your thoughts on this link: https://feedback.guildwars2.com
Keep in mind we plan to add more reward tracks in the future and this poll is specifically to determine if the team needs to spend more time making larger changes, or if the feature can leave beta and only needs small or no changes to be made to it.
(edited by McKenna Berdrow.2759)
We are aware of the issue and looking into it.
The final votes are in the and poll has been closed. The final percentages are:
Scoring: 48.90%
Quality of Life: 45.23%
No Preference: 5.87%
Scoring has won! The WvW team will be releasing another poll soon so everyone can vote on what scoring project they want us to work on next.
Thank you to everyone who voted, and to everyone who left suggestions on what scoring and quality of life projects they would like to see the team work on!
We are aware of this issue and working on a fix.
The very first WvW Poll is up and the team would like the community to vote for which project we will be working on next!
https://feedback.guildwars2.com
Please use this thread to discuss or give feedback on the poll itself. We will be announcing the majority vote on May 4th, so be sure to get your vote in before then.
A big thank you to everyone who posted on the Official Feedback Thread: WvW Reward Tracks. We will still be looking at that thread for any feedback on reward tracks, but now that everyone has had the weekend to play, and hopefully had some epic fights, the team wanted to ask everyone their thoughts on the stability changes.
We changed stability so that it can only be removed every 0.75 seconds and added an effect that plays when it is removed.
1. How do you feel about this stability change?
2. Is there something else you would like to see done to stability instead?
There are fewer questions on stability than reward tracks but we encourage everyone to discuss with each other their thoughts on stability in this thread.
I wanted to hop in the thread and thank everyone for all of the feedback so far! It has been really helpful!
I also wanted to remind everyone that Potions of WvW Reward will be added once the beta is complete. They will work the same as Potions of PvP Reward in that they will drop from dailies and progress WvW Reward Tracks. Just something to keep in mind that will be coming in the future.
Another fun fact that I feel is relevant to this “discussion”: the Arenanet guild chose and captured the Lost Precipice Guild Hall.
shhh! Seth what are you doing!
I guess I can agree to that…
Just don’t feel too bad as the numbers for Gilded Hollow continue to increase because the players know what is best!
#TeamGildedHollow prevails!
Thank you everyone! The skritt rejoice with us on this day!
