I dont know to much about roaming. But in bigger groups rangers are meh…
I was one of whos suggested the kit trap. Engis have 5 bombs or nades for 1 slot while we have only 1. I think its not a nice thing.

There are 2 things what mess up this game: ranger pet and stealth.
Many of the improvements people want are currently available with specific builds.
- People want pets to cleave (drakes do that).
- People want pets to have auto-attacks larger than 130 range (birds do that).
- People want pets to be faster (Quickening Screech, signet of the hunt, agility training, Fortifying Bond, Sic ’em, etc).
- People want pets to take less damage from AoE (Unpopular Bark Skin, high uptime Protection from so-called “worthless” untraited Guard)
We have tools to make our pets better, but most people don’t want to be forced to take them. I do take them and my pets (even birds) are up most of the time in WvW fights that are 30v30 or less.
And your pet still worth nothing as your ranger! Grats! You have a piece of kitten what not die within a second! You just fully traited on it. Other classes dont need to trait on class mechanics to work and still do more as you. Try a warrior, guardian, necro, ele and feel the sunshine when your mechanic saves you and not you need to save your tool. Btw 30v30 is not too big combat. That is the fight of 2 medium guilds.
So when is Allie wrapping this thread up? so we can go to the next phase?

In gw1 we was preparations. Some of them made the arrows do aoe dmg.
They done it minimum a month ago just not release it.

Bots must be banned and escorting rewarded. Its a simple problem. There are mob farmer ranger bots. Why not delete the ranger class?
With zerk you need to focus for 10 seconds and everything melt down. Withot berzerker or meta team builds you fight for 10 minutes and one shots still kill you with one shot.
A little zerk nerf wont help. We also need a little buff on other sets. Sometimes you dont have enough damage to overcome the healing mechanism of the enemy.
Also, I don’t want this thread to be entirely about pets. We’ve seen a ton of great feedback about them, and I would like to hear more about utilities that need help (and aren’t viable unless spec’d into) as I haven’t seen as much on that front!

Traps should come in packs! Engis have granade and bomb kits with 5 kind of stuffs in them for 1 utility slot. I can image a trap kit with spiked, smoke, poison, fire and ice trap
When you decide to save your pet, use your heal and 5 seconds later you die because you cant heal yourself.
Your pet cant reach the target
Your pet dies instantly, you swap and other pet dies too
Pve atm: zerk or gtfo!
Oh, and I want to add to my last post:
Everybody can simply roll over their buttons and play a class well enough, but when you start to get to the higher tiers that doesn’t fly as much. You need to time your stuns/condis/stability/heals/etc. if you want to “play with the big boys.”
I know that there are some specs right now that are particularly spammy, though. We’re hoping that some of the changes we make in the feature build will help with a lot of that. One step at a time!

Why? Can’t you share some tactics to help us against the ranger pets? Because I swear I’m sick of that krytan hound that keeps fearing me, way more annoying than a necro.

You are right mate! We need skills in evety weapon what kills pet instantly and damage the ovner if the pet killed. I think 50% hp loss is not OP.
I dont like to move in fights! Why am i need to walk to avoid pet damage? Its enough to presss buttons from 1 to 10

There will be the same three leagues as previously. No world can be lower than 9th place in a league. Everyone gets tickets.
We should gain tickets as personal, not server reward. Fight more, gain more.
Every players do the meta achis on a weekend or maybe +1-2 days. Do you want to reward them as much as the real fighters?
Maybe 1 ticket for every 10 kills, capping a tower, 2 for keep and 3 for garrisons or something like this.
I’m absolutely fine with the ability to res NPCs. It helps to stop PVDooring if you got a warrior on hand to run in and banner, followed by other warriors in case there was a map zerg waiting for him.
If you can’t stop a lord from being ressed, well, you don’t deserve to take the keep.
I’m sure that you are aware of people being able to take waypoints during attacks of for example garrison. When they take the waypoint they are invulnerable for 5 seconds. How do you propose to stop 5 warriors that are all invulnerable and prevent them from ressing the lord?
You drag the lord away from the waypoint and guard it. Stance warriors only have a few seconds of invulnerability, usually not long enough to run through an entire zerg. It’s been done hundreds and thousands of times.
If you cant run through with a warrior maybe search an other game. Hello kitty online maybe.
Also, you guys can’t see this due to the limitations of formatting on our forums, but a lot of these points were made by many of you guys. As such, they are much more emphasized in the email threads and discussions we have internally.
First, thank you for your summary. What I think got missed in the pile was the idea that pet damage should be rebalanced so that they no longer draw 30% of our damage from us in the first place. All other classes core mechanics add to base damage where as rangers loose almost a third of our player damage in order to have an AI run around with us. If our pets hit every time and are never dead, we just get to 100% base damage of every other class capping us at 100% a warrior hits 115% with his/her core mechanic.
This does not take into account the loss of gear stats on the pet which is significant.
I’m not saying this isn’t possible, but I want you to understand exactly what that suggestion means. It would mean completely rebalancing the Ranger.
The Ranger is designed to have a pet. If the pet was taken away or didn’t do damage, then it wouldn’t be a Ranger anymore. Does that make sense?
The only reason Rangers lose damage is because the AI is not currently what it ought to be. That doesn’t necessarily mean that we should completely redesign the Ranger and get rid of the pet.
Think of it this way: You’re building a house and a 2×4 breaks while you’re trying to screw it in to something. Do you scrap the house and completely rebuild it because that one piece broke, or do you grab a new 2×4 and use that instead? Which do you think would be more efficient?
What I’ve been seeing a lot of is that you guys don’t necessarily dislike pets. What you dislike is how they act and how they are controlled. It seems to me that these are feelings that have been built up over time, and have culminated into “pets have to go” because you guys haven’t seen the improvements that should be made to pets to make them desirable. I certainly don’t blame you for getting to this point, but I do want to know the core of the problem before we start talking about rebalancing an entire class.

Could you remove the jump part from sword #1? We realy need a main hand weapon. Sword/axe will be good in that case in wvw.
Could axe#1 follow terrain? In wvw you only see your characters back if you try to hit a zerg.
Will the pets provide the spirit efects if they are down?
What will happens if we use rampage as one while pet stowed? (I suggest to reduce the recharge to half. In that case we realy rampage as one, the beast is within us)
Could you pls power up the greatsword just a little? Blast (and maybe dmg decrase) on maul and dmg incrase on aa.

yea, lets do a small comparison as to what our handicap would look applied to another class:
warrior: class mechanic adrenaline: For every bar of adrenaline you will have 10% LESS damage. So at three bars of adrenaline you will have 30% less DPS then when you have no bars of adrenaline. This way you are forced to USE your class mechanic instead of just letting it stay full for max damage.
Mesmer: Class mechanic Clones: Mesmer’s start of with 100% damage, for each clone they release they lose 20% of their damage while the clone picks up 10% of that damage. When all three clones are up the player will be doing 60% less damage but it’s covered by the 30% damage their clones are doing until they shatter them or whatever.
Thief: Two class mechanics, stealth and initiative: While stealthed, thief will deal 30% less damage on their next attack and will not be able to heal while stealthed. While breaking out of stealth initiative will regain 30% slower for 30 seconds. Thief can only enter stealth once every 30 seconds.
Seriously, this is what the other classes would look like if they had the same handicap that we have had to put up with for the last year and a half.
But you know what, I take a step back and have been reviewing previous posts from dev’s and i’m looking now at the timing of this thread and the statements the dev’s are saying on this thread and have come to a conclusion. This thread is more of a marketing scheme then an honest attempt at trying to fix the class. They have ESO coming out in a month and they know there will be an exodus. They think that if they do this and show an ‘attempt’ of trying to fix the class that they could slow down that exodus from GW2. I love this game and don’t really want to leave but if they do not either fix pets or give ranger’s 100% of their damage back, I’m gone on 4/4. And no, you can’t have my gold because I will not allow my hard work ingame going off to someone that will continue to support the people working in Anet who, up to now so far, for the last year and half, have done nothing but dangle a carrot over our heads promising us everything if we wait till ‘the next patch’. They know pets are broken and with serious trouble yet the nerf the pet damage? yea, that really seams like they care about us. Longbow is lackluster against the shortbow so they nerf the shortbow to make the longbow look better. Yup, feeling the love there aren’t we!

Warriors gain extra dmg and crit if not use adrenalin. Eles also gain something if they not changing attunement. Necros can use the class mechanic as a panic button as thieves. Guardian f1 do the same as our pets mighty roar just instantly and deal extra burn. Enginers F skills are just a little more extra, makes utilitys more stronger. Etc…

I used to wvw a lot on my ranger, recently not so much. I did a lot of roaming, flipping camps, slapping yaks. In a zerg fight pets die to easily, I agree witht that. But 95% of the game modes is just bullkitten.
Yeah. Flipping camps and smack dollis are super fun… I want to fight real battles! I wars ranged units was the most valuable units.

Warriors have +15% dmg and crit trait if not using the adrenalin skill. We losing dmg because the pet…

What if you gain a bonus like that if your pet is down or merge it with the rampage as one elite.
Other classes core mechanic is extra. Our mechanic is leeching our powers.

The opening strike traits should be comprassed to one minor tier.
I can image a new mechanism. Something what manipulates the combo fields and finishers. A real druid class, not something failed like ranger.

Gaining loot near to edges teleport you. In hills, at the bridge front of the lord room its often fatal. Sometimes you gain loot, something port you from the middle to the very edge of the bridge, you press dodge, leap or just move and you fall in your death.
Itd probably be better if your friends not play with upleveld.

We also fight in the myst but there is no rewards for us. I think we alse deserve some unique loot or fractal loot. We fight minimum as hard as a farmer but our rewards are the 1/10 of the fractal.
