So you guys want to nerf burst, but rangel stay as an 1v1 class. There is no 1v1 situations and warriors, guardians will rule. They have good sustained dmg and heavy armors to survive.
Yes, like I said about the sustained vs burst, it’s not necessarily fully functional in the game. This is one of those things that we would have to balance with bringing other classes down a bit as far as damage output. Burst damage needs to have risk involved, and we know that right now many classes don’t have that associated risk.
There is no 1v1 situations in this game. If you nerf all the burst skills and remake the pet AI there is still no place for rangers (and i dont want to play 1v1. Its a massively multiplayer game or what)

Before things get out of hand, I want to address the aspect idea so we can move on. First of all, it’s a great idea, but there are many current issues with the profession that need to be addressed first. Our priorities to make the pet a more viable option will likely remain higher than giving an option to “permastow” the pet.
We recognize there are a number of issues with the pet AI and general functionality, so that is something that will come first. Rangers are first and foremost a pet class, but they are also great skirmishers and some of the best sustained long range damage.
I don’t want you to think we’re going to ignore the idea or the feedback around the pet, but it could very well be the case that fixing some of the major nagging issues with the pet would make it a more desirable aspect of the Ranger.
That said, if you would like to consider discussing the aspect idea, I ask that you start a thread outside of the CDI to brainstorm.

and what will the pets do against more than 1 opponents? (WvW example) Harder to make the pets viable in 1vX situations as let them to permastove. and this game is full of with 1vX situations.
BTW in PvE you need burst damage, in wvw you dont need pet. So you cut away us from 2 parts of the game.
Scoring on capture feed the karma trains. I think scoring on kill is a better idea. I know i know. But capturing the middle points and finish an enemy in a big fight is too much. 1 point for every kill is a better idea.
More open field fights!
Btw i think the idea of not upgradeable things is great. Some auto upgrade thing could be good. Or towers upgrade automaticly up or down if you capture the supplys and sentrys around them.
1 more thing: pls do something against the massive siege deffense. The AC line of sight was a GREAT first step!
Just wait the end of the ranger CDI. But atm ranger is the worst class for wvw.
Permastowing a pet really shouldn’t be the “solution” to clunky pet mechanics. The people who would prefer this over having the pet mechanics improved/reworked just shouldn’t play rangers, I guess.
That idea would actually be in lieu of a permastow. It would give Rangers a little more utility while not losing site of the concept of a Ranger.
Either way though, I don’t want this whole CDI to be able stowing the pets. There have been a lot of great ideas outside of this one that will help pets to be a more viable option. Perhaps just fixing some of the issues with the AI could be enough for people to feel better about the lack of permastow.
WvW is 1/3 of the game. And at siege, defend, 5+ combats pets just cant deal enough damage… Let us stowe it for an “aspect”. Same with every spirits.
Proposal Overview
By now everyone is familiar with the word ‘Zoo’ and how it relates to the Ranger class. While the screen clutter is still there, the strategic value of all the minions has lessened because of the changes to tab targeting. Body blocking is still a large issue though and I am proposing we remove the spirits from the game.snip
Removing Spirits would be a pretty big change to the class. Additionally, they are part of the “spirit” (sorry, had to) of the Ranger. I do think the idea to add it to the pet is interesting, though I’m not sure how it really makes sense (the pets aren’t the ones drawing from nature, it’s the Ranger).
Do you have any thoughts or ideas that wouldn’t necessarily remove them, but maybe help to lessen the body blocking as you said?

This is the problem with the ranger. Thieves, warriors, eles (and nearly everybody else) have better dps, team support and sustain as us. And in this game single target and pet gameplay is week

Make the ranger usefull in teamplays (gw2 is a team game or what)
First we need to give real buffs. What if when we stove the pet the spirit of the pet stays with us and provide area buffs (we will be something like walking banners)
Preparations: that was the skills what made us useful in gw1

A little more space to us in teamplays while not overpower rangers in 1v1.

I often do 3-4k dmg at dodge roll with my warrior in wvw. But i think its not op. Who the kitten comes with full berzerker in wvw?
I was sooo happy because the ranger patch notes are not real… That patches solves nothing.
Its just 3.5 silvers to change build. Pls do it for your team.

Retailation is only problem for unorganized zergs. If you roll with a real team your health bar never move
Idea: remove barrage and add a preparation. Something like ignite arrows from gw1. Add a little extra aoe dmg to each shot. In 1v1 it wont make the lb OP but image 4-5 rangers with piercing arrows+preparation while shooting a zerg with rapid fire.
Devs: we fixed the pet! Rangers are now perfect!
WvW players: ranger is still useless
Devs: after we perfectly balanced the rangers we wont do anything with the pet for an other 1 and a half year. We move on our next topic: stealth for warriors!
It is likely true that AoE will never be completely removed from the game, as the game is built with it being a factor. However, there are things we can look into doing to mitigate the importance of AoE in certain situations. Maybe even something we can do specifically for WvW.
We have a lot going on right now, so I’m not sure when we’d be able to get to it, but we can at least start thinking about our options.

Just add the body block system from gw1. No more zergball steamrolling. More professions, more builds available! More tactic!
Pvp and wvw builds are diferent. But you will learn to react and move. In wvw survive and move is everything. In spvp you spike down enemys and hold litle points
Armor, weapon and buffs, signet passives when u select them.
Let us stove pets for buffs. Rethink the traits etc… If they start to focus on pet rangers wont be more in wvw as now

Axe 5 is an excelent tool to tag everybody in wvw and build adrenalin within a sec.

Warrior is viable in wvw,pvp,pve and i think its good. I want to see every other proffs to be good in every aspect of the game

Stove your pet for bonuses or make pet as a utility skill. Maybe attument style class mechanic.
F1: good old pet
F2: stove pet for bonuses
F3: a kit of trap (engis have granade and bomb kits for 1 utility slot)
F4: team bonus based of your stoved pet (the spirit of the pet helps you)
Nothing what not existed befor but ranger could be a must have in every wvw team
I think 90 of you are pve or pvp players. Pve and pvp are 1v1 or 1v2. Powering the pet and upgrading the AI ae not sollutions in WvW. Pets cant listen TS, keep up with the dudes, save skills and use them in time. Pets select a single target and attack that. In large fights we not fight against single targets but whole servers. Pets will never work in wvw. Pets must be optional.
There was a ranger guild. But all of them changed to warrior or guardian after wiped 17 times in cof p1

Ranger: pets will never work in large scale combats or at defend/attack situations. Pets only good against none moving, single targets.
My ideas:
- stove pet for a brutal amount of damage buff (warriors have nearly +50% dps with same power setup)
-change class mechanic (you guys done it with guardian) maybe something like elementalist attuments.
-f1: the good, old pet style as now
-f2: lonely wolf. No pet, extra stats
-f3: trapper. Change skills to traps (engis have cool granades, bombs for 1 utility)
-f4: party buffer. Share buffs depend what pet do you stoved
- traits/utilitys need a massive rework. Why we need to spend 30 points if we want to use a skill? (Signets) sometimes 30 points still not enough (shouts whats not shouts)
- We dont have real cc. Roots can be dodged, destroyed or cured or you just port out from it.
- Rampage as one just a stability in wvw with a very long cd.
- weapons need clear roles. Every weapons have a bit of dmg, cc, condition, aoe but just a bit. We need a real aoe, cc etc… weapon. Longbow and greatsword are cloce to be good. But low dps as hell and that annoying barrage… Sometimes retailation kill you when you shoot the zerg (or thives hunt you down while channelling). Ss skillrs are fun but uncontrollable. We have only 1v1 weapons except axe what is a joke in wvw. The projectile should fly as a boomerang and should follow the ground. I think only our offhands are ok.
-traits: opening strike is a joke. 3 trait for a critical and a short vulnerability + a 30 point slot if u want to refresh it and you can do it only with 1 specific skill. Shouts are jokes too. The regen and swiftness is just lol and only buff your pet. Maybe for 5 points but not for 30. Signets need 30 points if u want to use them. Why 1 trap 1 utility slot? Engis use bombs, nades in packs. Spirits will never work in big combats, sorry. Same problem as pets, minions. We should stove them for passive (maybe if u click on the active they dissappear and give a loooong buff for your allis)
Yup. An npc downed state should be fun. There are npcs with downed state in pve
yup. rangers need a complet remake. optional pets, 5 traps in a kit, remake of spirits (they should work as guardians f1-3), weapon remakes. no root for ss, decent dmg, aoe, cc for other weapons, less selfish utilitys, real shout skills and good traits. now we need to spend 30 points in any trait if we want to use any skills…

when they solve the rangers pet problem
yeah… i hate when 50 people afk at spawn. guild groups dont want random because they are rally bots. in piken often happens: every borders are full, but no tag. you must to be in very good friendship with 3-4 good guilds if you want to play every day.
in every war soldiers with ranged attacks was the most valuable units. in this game rangers are nothing with or without ranged attacks. i understand the idea behind the ranger profession. we have opening strike, flanking damage, extra damage at full endurance and nearly full health, extra damage signet for one shot, big range and more damage for the more distance.
a tipical one shot setup. but this game is not support the sniper style, except if a are a warrior with rifle. we can reach the top damage if we trait on pets and micro management it. the problem is: pets can attack only single, not moving targets, and only if they are alive.
our damage against multiple or moving enemys is very low. im a wvw player and i fight against multiple moving enemys. we need an option to ignore our pet.
what i suggest is something like elementalist attuments. one for the actual beastmaster setup, one trap kit (engi have 5 cool bombs or granades for 1 utility slot) one lonely wolf mode with high dmg and one team support.
what i think: reward the person, not the server. more you defend, kill, capture the more reward you gain at the end. reward more somebody who played for 7 weeks days and nights on a t2 server as a farmer in t1 who just played for a weekend!
what happened with our new dev? he just dissapeared as anybody else befor. and what happend with our 3 love 3 hate thingi? and where is the ranger class balance?

my only problem with the current meta: medium armor classes not include
its a war. you must to survive, help friends, move as a team. you will never see on any battlefield soldiers with a knife. berzerker for pve, toughness for war.
what i miss from gw2 is the body block from gw1.thats the last thing what i need to feel myself on a battlefield

Personally speaking, I would split the Map Completion into PvE and WvW/PvP. Fully mapping one of either gives you one Gift of Exploration, so at the end of the day you still get the same number of Gifts, but you can just stick to the area you enjoy.

what i like to see: lessless reward for taking towers, keeps etc and more for killing somebody. maybe random karma potions from enemy players, a little glory (or lvling books) and maybe pvp rank points.
1k badges are a lot. farming 6k for a set is 3-4 months with an intensive (not 24/7 farm) gameplay. and this is just one set for one character. i suggest a material from mystic forge. u drop in a gift of battle, x ascended materials and after you got the stuff u can change it for ascended at a merchant
Please add a pvp rank and glory requirement, too.
Have it be in the R50 shop, costing 120k glory and 120g. (2x the price of a set of t3 currently)
I support this, if you wanna be a legend you should have to play all 3 facet of the game….
Either that or you could make WvW/PvP Legendarys and finally give us a reward for playing what we enjoy ANET.

yes we cried a lot when you got one rare item once a mounth and you made 1 gold a night in wvw if u was lucky and played all night. i think now our only problem is we need to play 6 time more pve to gain legendary as a pve player need to play wvw. i dont realy need one more legendary but pve is boring… while wvw is a learn to play pve is learn to not fall asleep.
