i wouldn’t say the sigils are broken i’d just point out that there are very few decent alternatives for power/zerker builds, but rather than heavily nerfing them they should give them a small tweek but buff other runes.
^I agree with the above.
Its not that they are OP, its that alternatives are just so medicore…
If Anet were aiming at more variety with sigils/runes when they did the balance pass over them, they should have been more ambitious and a lot less cautious.
After the ‘balance pass’ there are still loads of medicore/boring runes/sigils no one is interested in using and its because they are so overly cautious with there ‘precious’ balance.
I like death shroud and on this the Anet devs are spot on.
A Necro can stay in the thick of fights a lot longer, especially compared to the other 2 light armour classes, Ele and Mesmer.
I would suggest a few small ‘tweaks’:-
1) As already been said put a few more life force gains on Necro’s weapon skills, even if its only 1-2%. For example I run a staff/sceptre/horn Necro. My main life force generator is staff 1 skill, so I end up in staff mode like 70-80% of the time. With sceptre/warhorn, you only get life fore gain on 3 and 5 skills, obviously they have long cooldowns so contribute very little life force.
2) The 5 death shroud skills, I think 4 are useful to good. The exception is the no 5 skill, everytime I use it it seems to do hardly any damage, like 40 or less, its not even worth pressing the 5 button to trigger it, your better off to continue blasting away with the no 1 auto attack skill.
Just a couple of suggestions/tweaks to Necro.
I know how to make 30g per hour, purely solo activity that you can do anytime you want but its utterly boring, tedious and involves 1,000’s of mouse clicks…I usually can’t be bothered and prefer to do something I enjoy which barely makes 1g a hour.
Well isn’t all the following better at range than Ranger?
Engineer using grenades.
Ele using staff.
Warrior using longbow/rifle.
Necro using staff/sceptre.
All them do more damage than Ranger and the weapons feel better to use, also you still have lots of spare traits, skills to put into other stuff.
Thief shortbow is a nice ranged weapon too.
Rangers are pretty rubbish at range and also rubbish in melee. Rangers are just largely for noobs who like having a large collect of useless pets.
Anet will never fix them. They have promised on 2 different occasions to ‘fix’ them and the balance team failed.
The ‘toolkit’ Anet give Rangers is a bad toolkit.

The boss fight in molten weapon facility if I had to just say 1 thing.
There were quite a few impressive living storys thou to be fair.
What do you need Karma for anyway? Nothing to spend it on.
You know nothing…
With karma you can make 30 gold per hour, until you run out of karma to spend of course…
That’s why 6-9 months ago they nerfed karma gain considerably.
I watched the entire 1 hr 21 mins and it was basically explaining the 8 classes, there weaknesses/strengths and why they have those, for balance purposes obviously. So you have play and counter play.
Well a individual class may be nudged one way or another, they are never going to change much from how they are now.
So if you like how a class works now, your good. If you dislike a class now, well tough cause its not going to change in any major way.
So there you go…
No point in qq’ing or trying to force your personal agenda on a class, you either take it or leave it.
They release new outfits, buyable from the gem store at least every few months, the frequency will probably increase from 1st of July when season 2 starts. I wonder if the Chinese theme will continue…?
Also, season 2 will see more skins available with each new chapter if season 1 is anything to go by…
I hope this is REALLY fixed and everyone gets the correct amount of tickets on Tuesday…I expect plenty of posts saying they still have the wrong amount of reward tickets…
I hate Anet and balancing, after virtually every major, ‘balancing’ patch I am forced to (temp) retire a class and pick a new one to play. I have 8×80′s, 1 of each class for this reason, so when they over nerf a class, that character becomes my stand by the black lion merchant. Well, the character class that’s got awesome buffs becomes the class I play.
Its all so pointless…they usually destroy more builds than they create too.
All its about really is a cheap, easy way to try to inject some life into PvP, whatever effect it as on PvE or WvW they not interested in.
I’m new aswell, just patching the game, Can’t wait! BTW is a Necromancer good for newbies?
I have all 8 classes at 80th lvl and for someone new to the game I would highly recommend a Necro currently. A minion mancer build is excellent for both PvE and PvP, use Staff/Scepter/Horn. The build won’t work in WvW thou…you will after use something else for WvW.
One important part of playing a Necro is get used to using your F1 ability. Effectively you have a 2nd health pool, which makes you tanky, especially compared to the other 2 light armour classes Ele & Mesmer.

You got no chance….
Priorities are:-
1) Gem shop.
2) Living Story 2.
3) Closing/locking threads.
4) Dishing out infractions.
…….
10) Tournament of Legends 2.
11) Rest of PvE.
……
20) sPvP.
……
1000) WvW, we have WvW? Whats that then?
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
Shaving was boring…
So now they destroy with a chainsaw, just to make sure anything half decent/interesting is utterly nerfed to completely useless.
I would like to see a pure ranged specialist, currently GW2 has no pure range class.
Its all melee…
Or a out and out spell caster, Elementalist does not cut it, being more low health melee class, dagger/dagger…
I would just give everyone 500 tickets, enable rewards vendor to draw a line under it.
Anet can then figure out the bug in there own time without keeping there players waiting for weeks, months on end…
You will get some jealous kittens qq’ing about everyone getting 500 tickets, even through they will get 500 tickets but the moderators can lock/delete/infract those threads until the jealous kittens give up, like they usually do.
Simplest solution.

Can I have my rewards now, please, pretty please, pretty please with sugar, spinkles and cream on top?
Just saying, the vast majority of the attire that’s available on this game is what I’d expect to see on strippers. I really am baffled how you think otherwise. :P
Those trench coats sure are sexy…how much do you after pay for a stripper to wear a trench coat for u…unusual fetish you have there…lol
There isn’t a lot of ‘sexy’ outfits in GW2, no swimsuits, trunks, shorts, bikini’s, mankini’s, bracers on a bare chest for males…
However, we have 1,000’s of trench coats and 100’s of tin cans…

Start small, man. Basic template it still better than no template.
Why not discuss the best possible system? Scheduling and phasing feature releases is our deal :P Plus, there’s no way we can avoid remaking the entire feature later unless we are good about scoping all possibilities.
I understand your point Evan about wanting to nail a final overall vision in your mind and this thread helps with that.
But, I would do this like you did with the LFG tool, start small and add to it over a period of time. The more complicated you make it initially the longer it will take to see the light of day.
I think just introducing it in sPvP to start off with would be a good idea, as everyone as access to all equipment there (well nearly), so would be easier to implement. Get rid of all the skyhammer qq as well since everyone can save a skyhammer build.
I would like to say I love not only Liadri but gauntlet as a whole.
The other opponents of all 3 tiers can be made into very, very hard opponents by adding more and more gambits. A lot of players perhaps have not done this but well farming chances I have been playing around with them quite abit and its really good fun.
Gauntlet is one of the very few PvE challenges that really, really makes me examine my build, trying to get every % out of it to try and beat the opponents.
Another thing I like is I can do it on my own, so don’t after rely on other players, who often let you down or all of a sudden become a drama queen or a doom merchant or are ever so slow or easily distracted or just muck about. Sometimes I like that multiplayer rubbish but sometimes I like gauntlet.
Hopefully, this festival will happen once a year. It would be awesome if every year they could add 1 new opponent to each tier and perhaps 1 new gambit, which unlocks when you have defeated the 3 new opponents.
Would love to see gauntlet added to year upon year.

Things that must be in a template:
- Weapons
- Sigils
- Rune
- Amulet
- Skills
- Traits
- PvP vs PvE vs WvW (each mode requires different configuration options)
I personally just want those.
I want to press 1 button and switch to a build I created earlier.
Currently because build templates don’t exist I use the fact that I have 8×80 lvl characters to do different stuff in GW2. Currently for example:-
Necro – Does all my sPvP games.
Warrior – Does all my WvW.
Other 6 do all the PvE between them. Its because I am too lazy to keep changing builds all the time. If I knew I could save a build and switch to it with 1 button that would be awesome!
For example on Gauntlet, I after switch builds to face different opponents and its painful, also Skyhammer & Spirit Watch, whenever they come up I should change my build but often I just muddle through as I am and suffer as a result.
Looks interesting, effectively all living story rewards are going become permanent, so you can try to get them whenever you want, which is good.
The achievements are going to be considerably harder to complete, aiming at very skilled players, anyone of lesser skill need not apply! They say CONSIDERABLY HARDER than season 1 living story.
They have put a official blog up about it:-
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-story-journal/

Apparently it will have a gem cost to unlock it after the living story is over but if you log in just once well its current you can save it and access for free later on, when you may have more time to do it.
How would you replay all the multi-player stuff, which needed 5 – 100+ players?
Would you be able to get all the achievements & rewards?
If its just replay all the story parts and they think this is what we mean by wanting permanent content, then they really don’t get it…
But enough of the negative…I have all my fingers & toes crossed its a awesome new, idea by Anet.
I have both the halo and devil horns.
Its probably too early to offer them as rewards again but I hope they make them available again in the future both for new players coming to GW2 and any older players who missed out.
Why do players after be such special snowflakes? Jealousy is strong in MMO’s, everyone is coveting there neighbours oxen. Its a deadly sin don’t you know!
If I have got something, I don’t mind if no one else has got it or everyone else as got it. The only important thing is I like it…
So some people are saying give 500 tickets to everyone, problem solved.
Well then what was the point of the tournament???
Sadly, a mistake was made and lots of players got the wrong reward or none at all. The mistake could well be a complete nightmare to fix or even impossible to fix so everyone gets the proper rewards…so what do Anet do then?
In that case, probably best give everyone who completed meta 500 tickets to draw a line under it. They could also say sorry and they will make sure it does not happen next time.
No matter what they do now, Anet will get flak, no avoiding that now its messed up…
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
The could nerf bloodstone dust to zero drop chance for all I care, I hate it as a drop.
Yes, concentrate on the festival, it ends 1st July, so collect those tokens, there are loads of minis, nice skins, infinite tonics that you probably missed in your year away. There not too hard to get if you use your brain and are prepared to work at it. You are lucky and picked a good time to start playing again.
Check http://dulfy.net/ if you need any info…
Wow! Another awesome finisher, must get it…
I am loving these finishers they are making, the last 6 months or so…
But it is true ALL the best finishers are gem buys, the free ones/got via playing are rubbish in comparison.
While the World vs. World team investigates an issue with tournament reward chest distribution, we are temporarily delaying access to the rewards that would have otherwise been available on the Battle Historian on June 3rd. We hope this will help prevent further compounding the issue, and avoiding unnecessary confusion while we work to resolve the problem. Thank you for your patience.
What! So nothing for me today?
Awesome Anet, did the brainstorming session go like this:-
Anet (guy/girl 1) : "We got a problem, the WvW rewards are bugged again. 10% of player involved in the WvW tournament didn’t get there tickets!
Anet (guy/girl 2) : “Kitten, kitten, kitten. Any quick easy fix?”
Anet (guy/girl 1) : “Nope, had same problem season 1, could never find a solution”
Anet (boss guy/girl 3) : “Okay, stop everyone getting there rewards till we find a solution…”
Anet (guy/girl 1) : “But, but boss won’t that kitten a 100% of the players off? Instead of just 10%”
Anet (boss guy/girl 3) : “Yeah! Good is it not!”
Anet (guy/girl 1) : “Awesome boss, high 5”
Anet (guy/girl 2) : “High 5, so does this mean we can goof off work”
Anet (boss guy/girl 3) : “Sure, lets go for a drink…”

Flesh Golem’s pretty easy to kill if you target/focus it, the problem people have is they target the other player and ignore the flesh golem.
Pets vary, a bird type pet is fairly easy to kill too but can be a pain with its flying about, on the other hand a bear can take some time to kill.
My view on those 3 is its worth targeting the Flesh golem and birds and killing them. The bear, just keep moving around well focusing Ranger, the bear will never hit you.
AI pets/summons become increasingly useless the higher you get in the leaderboard is my experience, so they are only a problem to new players or players who ’don’t fully grasp GW2 mechanics’ etc…
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
Takes me a average of 10 mins to end up in a gold pavilion, I am in Europe.
If the taxi service was removed, I just would not play Boss Blitz, I would do something more worthwhile ingame or log out. I want to play with other players who ‘get the mechanics’ of what you doing.
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
But why would you pay them 1g?
You can just join the party, then r-click on leader of party, click transport to pavilion, now your in gold pavilion, then just leave party. All without paying them 1g.
My view on the living story is that its created some brilliant/excellent content and also some really awful content, with everything in between.
GW2 has originally shipped nearly 2 years ago now was high quality from beginning to end by and large.
The living story, you can never be sure if your going to get a great update, a medicore update or a I am not logging in for 2 weeks update.
Besides that living story can’t seem to deliver:-
1) A complete new zone full of hearts, vistas, dynamic events with perhaps at least 1 jumping puzzle and 1 dungeon. Southsun Cove was the closet they came but it still feels like only 70-80% of any other zone in the game and that’s after 2 updates devoted to it. EoTM was a brilliant go at this and I think the devs succeeded in style there but that was for WvW not PvE.
2) A complete new character class. No sign…
3) New weapons with new skills.
4) New legendaries.
5) New elite skills.
6) New utility skills.
If they could bring some of those to us via living story, I would like/respect the living story a lot more!
(edited by Meglobob.8620)
How would you change WvW?
1) Remake 2 of the borderlands maps so you had 4 unique terrain point scoring maps (+EOTM maps). I understand why they made all 3 borderlands the same for balance but WvW is not balanced at all. So your better going for variety instead.
2) Make the rewards better, give WvW players a way to get all top tier ascended gear via just playing WvW, not doing anything else. Give more options for spending badges of honour.
3) Put something more to fight over in the ruins, there’s little incentive to go there for fights currently, especially for zergs/big groups.
4) Make exotics you buy in WvW salvageable, sPvP has salvageable exotics so there is no longer any reason why WvW can’t have them.
5) If you are going to do a full complete new map, consider a pure waterworld map, with underwater keeps, towers, supply camps, etc… Those players who don’t like underwater maps can easily avoid it, they still have loads more options, but us water lovers can enjoy it. I know you have abandoned water combat in sPvP but that means there’s no reason to do it in WvW.
The mace, hammer & shield skins look very good…so even through none of my 8×80′s use those particular weapons, I will probably get 1 of those.
I still think for 9 weeks of WvW mistforged weapons should be ascended quality not exotic. Hopefully in a future tournament they will give us a way of upgrading a exotic mistforged weapon to a ascended mistforged weapon.
Same here, I have been doing every opponent everyday with as many gambits as I can cope with, so must have opened a 1,000+ and got a 1,000+ festival tokens…
Drop rate must be mega low of anything else, probably 1 in a 100,000 or 1 in a 1,000,000 or worse…
Will keep at it everyday to July 1st but I expect to get nothing more than extra festival tokens.
Good job I like the gauntlet…
I personally preferred the old system rather than this new one even thou I personally have hardly been effected by it.
I already had 8×80′s, 1 of each class before it was implemented and 1 lvl 2 Asura which I used for PvP only, just re-rolled whenever I wanted to do PvP with a different character class, I always wanted to PvP with a Asura you see because its a advantage being so small. This new trait system ended that and I deleted the lvl 2 character and just have a empty character class slot now.
I am only going to ever going to create a new character now if Anet introduce a brand new class. The new trait system completely puts me off creating a new character and probably puts other players off too.
They need to revert it back to the old system, but Anet WILL NEVER DO THIS.
Or
Give it a makeover, to make it more friendly, especially to new players. Slight possibility of them doing this.
I am expecting 8 Kasmeers, (I got 8 Queen Jennahs last time), I think I can ‘handle’ 8 Kasmeers (in my dreams that is…), however 8 Kasmeers and 8 Queen Jennahs could be a stretch even for me…
I think GW2 will head up into the top 3 and possibly even hit no. 1 spot, especially if for Season 2 they do regular 2 weekly updates from July 1st. Got a feeling the Chinese will love that…
On my Necro, I beat engineers everytime…Engineers can’t seem to cope with a good/decent Necro but vs any other class they are PURE EVIL. Unless I am on my Necro, don’t even bother now when I know a skilled Engineer is on a point, just clear off to cap another point.
Wildstar / GW2 are kinda related both being under the same umbrella NCsoft. Anet sent Carbine 300 cup cakes to wish them well with there launch. I think both games target different audiences. For example I think Wildstar looks a good/decent game but its really target WoW players, having a lot of traditional WoW features but brought upto date. Its also targeting hardcore players in particular apparently. But I am not renting a game fullstop, so good luck Wildstar but no thankyou!
There is obviously no reward track for this festival update but apparently that’s because a very small team put it together.
They said in ready ups, new tracks would be added in the future and particularly for Living Story season 2. So I guess on July 1st there will be the possibility of a new reward track…after wait and see…
I would like to see a Fractals reward track at some point in the future. They may also want to do another PvP specific reward track, I am sure everyone who wanted the Balthazar’s backpack as got it by now.
They need to put the rewards on a same level as dungeon tracks thou, as really once you have done them all once, the only ones worth keep repeating are the dungeon ones because they give 4 guaranteed exotics, plus tokens to buy more exotics.
I think the only reason we are having a season 2, is because GW2 has been released in China.
Why does this make a difference? Well GW2 is a brand new game in China, so it would make no sense at all to release a B2P expansion. Therefore Anet had to go with a Living Story season 2 hopefully followed in a years time by a B2P expansion. It makes sense…
I wouldn’t expect a lot from season 2. It will likely be similar to season 1 but with more permanent content. Season 1 living story varied between brilliant content to utter rubbish content, with everything inbetween. That’s exactly what season 2 will be like, some awesome stuff, some meh stuff. That’s realistic…
I like the seasons, they make WvW more fun, at least for the first few weeks until it becomes obvious who will win! Also, who does not like the extra rewards, for playing WvW like you would normally anyway. It also attracts more players to give you more bags/loot.
Sure it can be improved on further but Grouch/Jessica have already said they will try to make more improvements for the next one. Getting to choose your own rewards this time around, getting unique skins only available via wvw and easier to get achievements, plus new matching system were all improvements from season 1. Lets not go overboard on negativity…
I will save my ideas for improving the seasons for the CDI next week.
I was on Seafarers Rest, I have been on SFR since day 1 of GW2 being released, nearly 2 years ago now and I am glad to say I got the CORRECT REWARDS ie…500 tickets, the other rewards were a very pleasant surprise, Thanks Anet.
I think the only players with wrong rewards are those who changed servers during the tournament. Obviously they could not keep up with your moving around…
Remember even ascended isn’t the 1st tier, legendarys are the 1st tier, Ascended 2nd tier, Exotics 3rd tier…
Legendaries give the same stats as ascended… The only difference (besides the graphic effects) is that you can change the stats of your legendary anytime.
Tell me something I don’t know…
Legendaries are still tier 1 best in slot, any player in game will choose to have a legendary vs ascended, so that makes ascended tier 2, ie second best. Also, Legendaries have a promise by Anet to always have the best stats in game, where there is no such promise for ascended items.
Just watched the live stream, the person asking you about salvaging mistforged/hero weapons was not trolling you. The mistforged/hero weapons are only desirable for the unique skins, so with the new wardrobe system, you should hopefully be able to salvage the exotic/rare and you keep the skin and get ecto’s etc out of it. That’s why that player was asking…
A little disappointed Jessica and Grouch did not understand that because any half experienced GW2 player knows that…its basic stuff.
Well, I am glad the early signs are positive and good news for GW2, Anet and KhongZhong. The more players worldwide the better!
This however will not last in the longterm (like 3-6 months+), without a lot more resources being pumped in, spvp gets boring after a short’ish time:-
- strong E-sports potential
- PvP tournaments on regular base: Start June 5th
Honestly GW2 esports biggest red herring EVER, weakest part of GW2.
Just like to say I have changed my mind on Boss Blitz.
I was ultra critical of it during the 1st week but that was because the majority of players, ‘just didn’t get it’, now over a week later a lot of players have ‘learned it’ and are no longer zerging!
Its become very fun and rewarding to do, there seem to be plenty of overflows clocking up gold/silver rewards, so getting it done in 8 minutes or less (not including donating/countdown clocks).
So I take back the horrible stuff I said earlier and say WELL DONE DEVS & ANET.
