It lasts for days I think. And unranked counts as well. Not taking a queue also = dishonour. So if you queued, went afk, came back after a long time you might not have even realized you got the first dishonour.

Condi warrior are only OP when you don’t know how to handle them.

They are easy to kite. They have almost no disengage.

When they leap at you dodge (they will use elite)

Save a stun break. Save condi clear.

Kite invulns/zerks.

Out rotate.

Seriously they are super slow. And have a very tiny range. They are the definition of bruiser. Don’t trade blows with them. Even a full melee rev can out kite with prec strike. I don’t think there is a class that can’t kite them (thief = hit and run like normal)

jomir, it is a much smaller deviation than s2. In s2 you could have the equivalent of ESL players on one team, and joe smoe on the other. Now its much closer. And if the “worse” players make better plays they can much more easily win.

why? when everybody has the same amount of pips and the algorithm finds 10 players in “pip-range” you can still end up with 5 noobs at one side and 5 esl players on the other….
especially in the beginning of the season (no taking the placement in account)

No you can’t. I promise you neither us will ever face any ESL players.

If an ESL player was a 10 and we were fives (wtf 5 s is censored? nospace), we’d face 4-6s. We’d never face 7-10s.

Yes I did. You DC’d for more than two minutes = pip loss. What is so hard to understand?

It doesn’t matter win or lose, come back or not, DC = punishment or it gets abused.

Its not worth it to change for that rare 1% of the time that you DC but your team carries you anyway. You should still lose the pips anyway IMO.

Its like showing up for work late everyday and expecting the boss not to notice.

I started out 50-50 too then moved toward 60% ish win rate by game 20+ and got to tier 3.

It’s almost like it forces you 50-50 at first to test your level or something.

Score doesn’t mean anything in terms of wins vs loses.

Stats rarely mean anything either. (only valid in comparing builds really)

Its this reason why spvp is so hard for most folks to get into. What you should do and why is very misleading to players with less than 1,000 games.

Just posting new results, not bragging. Previously said I was 50-50. Now I am at about a 60% win rate. Played maybe 20-25ish games, and am tier 3 saphire now.

I think part of the lopsided matches on day one has a lot to do with 1. rusty people coming back 2. people trying new builds.

I think this system is probably the best we’ve had so far and we should see better games by next week.

Honestly I can’t agree more – that necro got a bad deal.
I was in his spot today too.

Get in a game – my team:
2x war, 2xthief and me on a necro. Nobody wanted to swap.

There’s honestly just no point to even waste time with such a team – just lose as fast as possible and get the next game.

While not ideal, wars and thieves are in a great spot this meta. That is not bad at all. I won a game (dominated 500-200) with two thieves and 1-2 wars today.

The shield nerf is well deserved. Seriously two blocks on such a low CD was OP(on top of all the other ways we have to mitigate dmg). On top of that a slow and a phant. Just no.

release pvp changes 1 or 2 weeks before season starts (including patch notes)
let ppl try new stuff (mb 1 week … 2 might be too long)

then start the new season

Naw I don’t want to have to wait. That would basically just take a week out of league. (cant rush balance changes they come when they come)

Well, idk if it was a typo but in your season 3 example. One side is grossly favored over the other by 7 point. How is that fair?

Eh I don’t think it will be anywhere near that bad. S1 was within “one” deviation and it was 50-50 basically. S3 is within “two” deviations. Sounds like it will be just right. But no one knows till we try it.

In other words I predict we will see win rates ranging from 40-60% on average. 30-70% for extreme outliers. That is much better than S2 where some people couldn’t win or some people couldn’t lose (0-100%)

Rev is out, kaput. Ded. Hail thief overlords and warriors. This is overnerf, its like thief that would have to use 10 ini just for shortbow 5.

I would gladly use 10 initiative for an infiltrator’s arrow with 1200 range and teleported me through walls and gave me unblockable attacks. Oh, but then I would only be able to use it every 10 seconds instead of every 5 like revs.

Good nerfs. Energy is supposed to be a limiting factor for revs like initiative is for thieves. Learn to manage.

You realize it needs a target? I would trade PhT for I.Arrow any day of the week. You are plain new at using I.Arrow if you don’t understand it yet.

Skill is fine. If anything it needs a slightly lower CD now.

I dont think non revs realize how bad its dmg is most of the time. They only think about that one time they didn’t react alone vs a rev and it did all its dmg.

If there are minions or clones or pets or gyros or just other players its dmg is pathetic. Its worse than ranger lb2 or w/e.

You can also position yourself near a wall to bug it out. Stealth. Dodge once. There are so many counters every class has its pathetic.

Anet will most likely be adding some form of “loot” (t6 mats maybe?) to the pvp vendor. I wouldn’t miss out on any seasons…

Although it may just be more pets, who knows for sure.

Only question will be when, if S3 or S4.

Good change. There was a reason (before HoT) there weren’t any condi amulets with tough + vitality. A step back toward having to choose a weakness .

And what has already been said, this will increase amulet use, instead of every single condi build using mercs.

Which is easier to make?

I finally got a lucky drop, got The Legend. Decided to finally craft a legendary after playing since beta. Anywho, I dread world completion, and all the steps. I am more concerned about what would be easiest. Should I keep it, make Bifrost or sell it and use the gold toward Nevermore? I like them both about equally.

I’m thinking bifrost would be easier? But I have no idea.

If you zerg too much the enemy team can easily out rotate you and keep 2 points while you are all busy only winning one point.

But every game and every skill level is different. Generally the lower the skill level the bigger the team fights. Depends on comps too.

Of course at super low skill levels (hot join) you will get people just dueling 1v1 off point too. So it really varies…

Disagree with this. The lower the skill level the smaller the team fights are because you have people doing stuff like dueling on side points, fighting in the middle of nowhere, or chasing secondary objectives where they make no sense to do so.

Hmmm. Ofc attacking someone who doesnt fight back is boring, but I had some of my best duels after the match ended.
Since points, rotations, +1s or even winning doesnt matter anymore it is the best way to get an undisturbed fight and practice.
And ive never found the stats helpful. It only leads to those pathetic people coming to the forum saying ‘I always have top stats’ or ‘I dealt 100millionzillion damage’ and actually believe it means anything.
The stats are almost meaningless, I recognize how good/bad I was during the fight.
If my enemies used a healing skill without stability and I didnt interrupt them, or I used an important skill prematurely, I notice that myself.
And there are no stats that can tell me how fast I reacted to my opponents burst or how well I rotated.

pretty much with the exception of comparing changes in builds. Like menders vs clerics. Or paladins vs mara. Or strength vs scholar. If you regularly do 550k with something for 5 games then switch to something and do 600k+ every game it can be useful. Or knowing ratio of condi dmg vs power dmg a build does.

Basically build stuff. But yea I agree it doesn’t really show how well you did. And once you work out your build (doesn’t take long) its rarely useful.

I wonder if TDM would work best with fewer numbers though? 3v3 or 4v4.

One of the main reasons courtyard failed was because people were too lazy to switch to a TDM build. So the team with more TDM or more flexible builds (or ppl who switched) would destroy the other team.

With fewer people, such as a 3v3, builds need to be modified much less.

You have clearly not seen a truely unviable build, f2p core builds are not the worst of builds availiable. In fact a couple of them are pretty good still.

So your argument is you should essentially be able to ‘no skill’ ‘face-roll’ random pick traits and make any random build and it should be viable? That is totally counter intuitive to you wanting a skillful game.

Maybe try a different game.

a lot of meta builds are so forgiving that if a decent at best player vsed an esport player using a bottom tier build it would end in a stalemate at best. I dislike this quite a bit because a lot of those non viable builds out there would be a lot of fun to play if they didnt stink so bad.

Can you imagine how awesome this game would be if every weapon set was viable each with its own unique playstyle?

Again wrong…lots of pros have streamed f2p core builds and still wreck average players… we’ve seen top tier normal players do this as well.

I would come back to this game if most classes had a build that did not feel dirty and skill meant being able to easily reduce noobs to dust. Thats not how this game works right now, its just about playing a meta build that trumps over most builds if you care about winning.

That’s just flat out wrong. Meta builds are strong but if you’re good you will decimate new players on any build.

He saved us the trouble. There’s not one down like are describing. Having to position directly behind someone for backstab slows him down, doesn’t take off full health and leaves him vulnerable. All of which the OP doesn’t need to worry about. If you can’t have good map presence with portal there’s something wrong. Mesmer better at thief than a thief.

Regarding matchmaking, it seems that two camps are developing. What about ranked matchmaking do you prefer over unranked?

The type of player. Ranked players, even when there’s no rewards, tend to Q up for ranked because they want to win. They play real builds.

I don’t find newb stomping fun. And I can literally be 1v3ing and still lose a game in unranked because teams can be that wonky, because no one really cares. Even if you match up total MMR or w/e, you will still get people trying new builds, or just not caring in unranked.

Even when I want to test builds its difficult to tell because I know I am generally running into pretty poor players on average so I have no idea if the build is truly viable or that guy was just bad or playing a wonky build of his own. (I mean you can kind of tell obviously, but only so much.)

TLDR: I don’t care much about rewards. I really only PvP in gw2, and I only PvP to be competitive. Unranked is not competitive.

Also, you are testing these changes in unranked, where you can come across the loliest of the loliest bad players. Even Nosoc isn’t sure if they’re removed from meta yet till he gets sufficient scrim time against other pro players.

They needed nerfing. Anet just missed a few classes.
