What about mounts?

No.

Been discussed to death many many many times already. ANet said it’s not happening. Mounts would screw the whole way point system, it’s there for a reason. There is no reason to add mounts whatsoever, other than extra bling, it’s not needed.

False, I read an article and Anet said that though there are no mounts in game at the current time that it might be something they will look into in the future.

let’s not forget the if Anet wants to have a successful game they WILL have to listen to what the players want.

This right statement right here is what I have a majour problem with.

The reason GW2 is an amazing game and will be very successful is precisely because Arena Net has stuck to their basic design philosophy and not given is to a vocal minority screaming we want this or that.
They have been working on this game for years.
I am also really tired of people saying “but we had this in x or y game so we must have it in GW2 or the game sucks and I won’t play”

I really really don’t want mounts- in every game I played that had them they were a royal pain that was cool for exactly 5 min and then they were a nuisance.
Some of my best moments in GW2 has come from just running from one place to another because I have discovered new places, awesome nooks and crannies and taken great screens.. you get the idea…
For love of the six- please no mounts!

hahahahahaha!
too true!
In my case I have live action dreams of my main, last night I was shot by a centaur because I forgot to put him in a feedback bubble.
I also hear the " everyday i get better and better" in my head every-time I complete a chore around the house.

I am on Gunnar’s Hold and I have never seen a low pop- I am lucky if I’m not in the overflow and I play at various times during the day not just peak time.

I have found that I actively seek out the DE’s with less players because they are more rewarding in terms of fun for me.
I have completed DE’s by myself and I play a Mesmer- had to be more careful but it is not that hard- if it is too hard, I ask for help.
I think that a smaller pop is actually beneficial to DE’s because with a huge zerg the default setting of the DE stays on best outcome so the chain get’s nipped in the bud and the world stays static- this is when you repeat the exact same DE over and over.
You also get much more teamwork in smaller groups and people end up traveling together to do stuff- all in all a much more enjoyable experience than a giant zerg with seizure inducing effects that is over before you can target properly.

Well there is always a Mesmer.
Mesmers are very sneaky in that a lot of their damage is indirect, through conditions. They can be ranged or melee range depending on their weapon set.
They can also be very supportive especially if paired with a heavier damage class.
And finally their clones and phantasms are sort of like spirits.

But they are squishy and it is a bit of a love/hate class.
Give it a go and see if you like it.

I have a couple of suggestions for you

Gw2 is like and very unlike other games out there- most of the things we do in other games we do in GW2 as well just sometimes in a different way. And it might be hard to recognize them.

Take your example of 100 % map completion:
I have 100% on 3-4 zones atm because I love exploring. So last night I’m running around with a lower lvl friend in a zone I thought I had completed an he found tons of places I never new existed!
So I think even if you 100% the whole map there is still an entire world that is not necessarily tied to vistas, poi etc.

You are right in saying that in most RPGs the point is to make your character cooler, more powerful and generally not feeling like the same hick you did at lvl 1!
The difference is in GW2 I think the skill with which you play your character- it is not so overt but it is there.
Also if you want to look great- get the skins- crafting also helps to tailor your gear exactly to how you want to play your character.
But I have to agree that farming and grinding for crafting mats suck.

The other thing you mentioned was a limited choice in weapon skills-
Aahh I actually like this because it forces me to learn exactly what each skill does so I can use it effectively and I do get a huge amount of satisfaction out of figuring out different combo’s and such.
But if you simply want more options have you tried an Elemantalist?
The amount of options it adds up to with the atunement swaps are almost overwhelming.

The other thing you might consider is trying a class that has a high skill cap- or rather is harder to master. Elemantalist and Mesmer comes to mind. They have very different play styles and even just the choice of weapon changes things drastically.

So in short I do think GW2 has those RPG elements but it just not so straight forwardly obvious.
I really hopes this helps you somewhat as it absolutely sucks to look forward to something and spend money on it and then be disappointed

Edit: those hidden places on the map often offer a mini boss/ and a chest you can find cool things.
Also there are secrets out there often what just looks like a straight forward quest is not- I don’t want to spoil but the Durmand Priory heart in the Hirathi Hinderlands comes to mind as one such

This is great!
I love cooking and I love exploration, what a great way to combine the two.
I would love to wander the world looking for hermits with cravings and secret gardens!

Yes please!
As a tailor I find it extremely hard to get the materials I need.
And yes I salvage everything! I got to the point where I salvage blues and greens just to get their ingredients. So I am always broke but that is another story.
I bought a really nice armour skin at lvl 20 and at lvl 40 I still do not have the materials to make the set!
I also farm on alts. But why would you have to farm mobs at all? It wastes my time and I do not have so much time to play.
It would be absolutely awesome if we could gather the cloth (jute, cotton) in the world like we do wood, plants and ore. For silk and gossamer someone here suggested spiders. It would make a lot of sense. You do not need to go out of your way to gather unless you really want to.
ps I don’t really mind the butter and chocolate since an alt is a chef.

pps I just read my post and if I sound like I want stuff handed to me- that is not my intention. I love crafting and I get a kick out of making my own gear- I just don’t want to waste needless time farming- or for that matter out lvl myself because I’m farming

I love this game but I can understand that you feel frustrated because the reasons I love it is exactly what you find missing in the game.
My husband was saying to me that he feels lost because the game is too open ended for him and he found himself running around hearts just to have some goal.

Me on the other-hand? I dislike games intensely that force me into a certain type of action just so that I can progress. I don’t like carrots because I feel like I’m being led around by the nose like a lab rat.
What I love most in GW2 is the utter freedom of the game, I can do exactly what I want, when I feel like it.
Explore? Head for that hill/cave over there and check it out.
Tired of my armour skin? Go look for a vendor that sells a cool skin and craft it.
Smash some things? Check.
You get the idea how I play – this is obviously not your play style.

At the same time I must add that I do feel a sense of progression and that my character does feel more powerful, but that might just be because I am better at playing my class (Mesmer) than I was in the beginning.
I’ve played with friends that come from other types of games and some of them find it hard to adapt, others don’t
But give it time, play a different class and if it really is not for you move on. You can’t force yourself to have fun.

Request: Please remove Anti - farming system

I am confused about this really. I farm mats for crafting for couple hours and continue to get drops. Are you trying to farm the same spawn point or something?

Its not just for mats, If I use magic find buffs and only get 15 mins of actual drops its a waste. This is wrong

Just to clarity if you use magic buffs ( from foods I assume since you say they last a couple of min)- they work best when you harvest- dyes from plants, gems from ore, stashes from wood.
They do not really as far as I have found increase magic finds from mob drops.
So if your buff running out is your issue, you shouldn’t be farming mobs with a magic find buff.
If you do need crafting mats from mobs, there are several types of creatures that drop specific materials. eg Centaurs drop cloth and leather. Reptiles like Drakes and Skales drop blood and scales etc. Usually you can find more than one place on a map to farm those, just create a route.

I play on Gunnar’s Hold- EU server –
It is a very friendly and helpful server, I see lots of those kinds of questions everyday and they always get answered almost immediately. It is nice to know that if you have no idea you can just ask.

It is just generally a great community. Map chat is a blast.
