Which stage of Balthazar will break this week?

Morrigan.2809

The hard part of this quest is not that it bugged but is the escort part to the temple. Most people don’t heal the npcs so they take way too much damage and that cause the morale goes down fast. Balthazar himself is easier now, he doesn’t heal himself anymore for some reason.

really? Last time we managed to get to Balthazar he healed himself to full just at the last sliver- I was noooooo!
Good tip about the pact members, I am going to have to get a bunch together and give it another go. thanks

Morrigan.2809

There are 2 ways to get the event unbugged.

1.) Lure the Champion Giant Risen walking around to them, then log off so the Giant can kill those npcs to reset the event.

2.) If some how you can’t lure the Giant to kill the NPCs, go near to those npc that are dead and use any rez skill right on top of their body.

Yes that is it exactly- except we didn’t log of but stayed to tell other players that showed up to let the giant kill the pact.
The dead pact member could not be interacted with (F) but the ranger spirit can res him. The event resets fine afterward in both cases.

The last few days the event got stuck on the temple escort quest on my server, the problem is that as soon as people see that they say “aww bugged” and leave.
Three times now my husband and I have been able to reset the event by either killing all the pact members with pulled mobs or resurrecting a dead pact member that wasn’t registering as dead. We then let people know in Map chat that the event is up, only to have the event fail because there are not enough people, twice we made it to the steps only to have the pact morale hit zero right at the end.

If the explanation is that a bunch of other MMo players complained because they can’t increase their gear stats to be leet, I am going to cry.
Those players have mostly left and it improved the game for those who remained.
Please please Arena Net reconsider this- this is not what you promised us.
A lot of people love and play the game because it has no pointless gear creep that makes your work worthless every update.
For the first time in the game i am really disappointed.

Banners: as far as I know you research them once and them you just plop them down- at least that is what I do with our MF and gathering banners. (50 influence a pop- I think)
DE require people yes, sometimes, so do champions- ask for help in map chat or just go for it yourself, mostly others show up pretty quickly.
Why are you dying so much, that you even notice repair costs?
Waypoint costs are not really bad at all- I’m an 80 and I don’t even think about it if I use them- you make up 3 silver in 5 min.
Costumes are account bound afaik- at least it was when I bought it- haven’t tried to move it to another char since I’ve equipped it.
You are basically going oh woe is me for no reason or is this just about GW2 not being GW?

No.

I’d rather seem them spend their resources on new PvE dungeons, weapon and armor skins, PvP modes or new special events.

It seems like we are already getting those in spades, except for the skins and I’m sure there will be more of those too.
This is just something that will be generally nice for the game that is not set in a dungeon or tied to a one time event. A way to immerse yourself a bit in the world without having to- go go go- goal is waiting, loot to get, event clock is ticking.
I am aware that you can already enjoy the world now if you choose and I do just that. Fishing just seems like a fun addition, for it’s own sake.

I think I’m the odd one out in that I prefer Orr to Frostgorge Sound.
Orr is exciting and dangerous and it keeps me on my toes, I don’t really mind the risen since I can get away from them mostly. I love the fact that there are no hearts, just masses of events. It creates a great feeling of urgency that is lacking on other maps.

Frostgorge is beautiful though and I love the Kodan- I just prefer some of the other Snowy maps like Dregdehaunt Cliffs e.g

I really, really like SoD and Malchor’s Leap, not so much CS but that has to do with the players not the area.
It seems to me that the moment players hit CS they instantly turn into min/max farmers. The other night I asked for help on map chat to complete an event, just to be told that event is not profitable. I had to do it since there was a skill point and I spent ages sneaking past the risen king just to get it but I did it alone.

My real life suddenly being so hectic that I am forced to miss the event, just like Halloween.
Thousands of free players roaming about with names like diarhea and suicidia- tolling and generally making the game miserable for everyone else, just like the last beta.
Lion’s Arch being such chaos, that the time I can log on, I flee for calmer shores- pretty much anywhere else.

But seriously, I expect some class changes, bug fixes, more bot bans, a new area that I might or might not ever play, depending if there is anything on it apart from the new dungeon.
Some changes to the world that might be significant or not and lastly some additions to the story/lore.
Oh and lots and lots of rage on the forums regardless of what the content actually turns out to be

The truth is a little less glamorous. Iron marches is one of the least complete zones in the entire game. That text you see there is a note from a graphic designer to either his co-workers or himself. Reminding them to quite literally “cut out” that piece. There’s another one somewhere in iron marshes that says something like “content not finished” on the floor.

Wow, least complete zones in the game? It is one of my favourite maps because it has such unique beauty. You learn something everyday
All the Charr zones are gorgeous imo, are there any other unfinished zones?

Food prices - when?

in Crafting

Posted by: Morrigan.2809

Morrigan.2809

For me it is about leveling cooking yes. Producing huge stacks of the same food is an option but it also costs money which is why I tried to go the discovery route with what I had in my collection mostly and just filling in the gaps on the TP.
As for producing useless food- I found that only intermediate items like bakers wet. sesame ginger sauce etc have any value on the TP.
Almost all finished products have 0 value, not even 1c. So the dill/vanilla/chilli etc that you payed a fortune for is now a loss.
I mailed so much food to my friends that they asked me to stop, my alts and bank ran out of space. That was when I started destroying the items at a loss. Not a grape pie among them.
A vendor would be godsend

So, you think it’s more cost efficient to discovery 15 recipes with, say chilli peppers than to craft 20 peach tarts? I have to disagree. There are a lot of ingredients you get tons of while gathering and you can use those to craft useful food in bulks to level the craft. You CHOOSE to make all that useless food, the game doesn’t make you do it in any way. Also, just curious, do you have the food achievement complete?

Ha no I don’t think it is more cost efficient really but I did want to use what I had gathered- ironically I did have some chilli and some vanilla but no peaches.
I bought some more chilli- I think 3 and some vanilla 5 or so and sure, it is not that expensive in such small amounts but on my lvl 10 character it is. 10 silver is a lot of money to her.
I craft mainly because I enjoy it and I took cooking because it is so creative- I love spending hours in discovery just trying out different things. That is not efficient in any way but it is fun for me. I also only tend to make one of a thing unless I want to use it. So I end up with a lot of food that doesn’t stack. I am really not saying the game forces me to do anything, I am aware that I chose to go this route.

As for the food achievement I don’t even know what that is.

But OT I don’t see how being able to sell food to vendors is bad for the game- I mean, you can sell all other crafts, why not food?

[Suggestion] More variations for PVE enemies across zones

in Suggestions

Posted by: Morrigan.2809

Morrigan.2809

Some of the enemies are relating to the areas you’re in.

For example, close to Rata Sum you’ll find Inquest. When you go into the Divinity’s Reach area, it’s centaurs. When you head to the snowy area, it’s Sons of Svanir.

All of those are tied to the stories behind their respective areas. And therefore it’s important that they are a significant force in those areas. After all, if the centaurs pretty much kittened up Shaemoor, why would you find Centaurs clopping about in Metrica Province or Snowden Drifts?

And honestly, having been dragged about in my lower levels by a friend to go from Kryta to Shiverpeak Mountains and Maguuma Jungle, I was absolutely delighted by the different enemies.

I know games where the only thing that you generally get is a different colour scheme and a slight change of name.

I agree totally, I love the fact that the enemies in this game make sense and are not just random monsters romping around the map.
I hate it in other games where you have a plethora of different creepy crawlies with no rhyme or reason.
I even like the fact that we have very few real “monsters” , instead we have a conflict among races that span the world. It is nice going from region to region and seeing how it all fits together, it makes the world seem more real to me.

My husband and I have had mobs trained on us by farmers running for nodes in Orr, Luckily we are a pretty good team and have never died because of this. Often we then see the same player lying dead a few minutes later, his train milling about him. Food prices - when?

in Crafting

Morrigan.2809

“The part I still don’t understand is…why on Earth do you want to craft worthless items to vendor at a loss? How is having that option in any way appealing to you?!”

Your question is – why don’t I want to make 1 copper to 20 copper (guessing what the prices were ) for each item I craft to the vendor that doesn’t sell for the 25copper I think that it’s worth on the trading post if noone is buying it? This is obvious to me, I want the same “out” every other crafter has, I want to be able to vendor what doesn’t sell.

I may be done with cooking but there are still other people leveling it, they have product all the time extra, shouldn’t they be allowed to vendor it like any other crafter can?

It’s not like this effect can’t hit the top level food either, as long as people refuse to buy it until people sell it at 1 copper, they can push down the price themselves. No one can do that to any of the other crafted items, the wool gear I made recently on my tailor sold to the vendor for almost 1 silver a piece, no player could cheat me out of recouping some of the cost. I had 2 directions to sell and one was guaranteed (vendor). With food having no vendor price, other players can cheat other players out of the vendor cost because there is none and there is no second outlet to sell it (vendor). Instead you have to take a complete loss and destroy it. It doesn’t even have to be intentional, that’s why I cited grape pie as an example. Yes players undercut each other intentionally but they did that because they didn’t want to wait for thousands to sell just to sell their one or two. How does any other crafter deal with that, they vendor the goods and say, that doesn’t make any profit, I won’t make it intentionally in future. That is missing from cooking right now. Then when someone does decide to stock a grape pie for low level characters… there aren’t 20K of them there.

Explain how the price could recover from what it is now? Do we even have enough bag space to hold 20 k + grape pies if we wanted to try to bring the price to something better? This is a logistic problem that will only get worse as more piles up.

Ah, so it’s about leveling the craft. You keep pointing at the vendor price difference. How about this:
- You can level cooking by crafting only food that you can benefit from. You basically need 1 discovery every 25 lvls and then to make 15-20 of those. Sure, you end up with a stack of food that’d last you 1-2 months, but every single it of it is useful to you.
- You can’t level any other craft by only making stuff you can use yourself. You are forced to craft useless items if you want lvl 400 of anything besides cooking.

- You need 800 foods to get an achievement. And will barely craft even half of that while leveling the skill.
- There is no such achievement for, say, jewels.

You do know how economy works, right? People don’t just “refuse to buy it unless it’s 1c”. If that strategy worked, everything in TP would be at vendor prices. Obviously, that’s not the case. But if by some miracle that were to happen….and people just stopped buying food to crash the prices….crafters would simply stop providing. Eventually there will be no food on the TP and those who need food would start bumping the buy price hoping to get some.

I don’t understand why the market has to recover from it. The price is not 1c because there is no vendor price. It’s 1c because nobody wants to use it. Here’s smth interesting for you to chew on. There are good 30 types of food in the TP right now that go for over 1s/unit. They also don’t have a vendor price, just like the grape pie, yet they are not at 1c on TP.

Lastly, to sum it up a bit, adding a vendor price to food would allow you to sell said food for a few c. It won’t magically make people want it more. It also won’t create a reason to craft it since you’d still be a loss.

Why Orr brings out the worst in the "community"

Morrigan.2809

I love Orr- seriously I do and I think it is very well designed.
As others have said it is a war zone and you have to push the army into Orr.
It is great for team work and on my server it is a blast.

Just last night my husband and I tried for a hard vista. When we got there, there were 4 others, one player saw I was having a difficult time and asked if I wanted a portal.
After we got the vista we were leaving we saw a lone soul stuck half way to the top. we spent half an hour getting that player up the vista and to the chest.

Later we were trying to sneak to the last waypoint only there was a champion giant in the way- so while we are debating on what to do this little Asura comes rushing past trailing mobs, runs straight into the giant and runs back to us. We just turned, bit the bullet and charged the Giant. The little Asura turned around to help us kill the giant, adds and mob train and then we all made it to the waypoint.

When we bit off too much to chew just us two taking the Eye. we got ressed by a kindhearted guardian just legging it past. We yelled run! and all three of us made it to safety, did some skill points, Lyssa, vistas etc together until we logged off.
I have many more war stories of Orr

I think Zamrai has a good point.
It all depends on how you approach a fantasy type game.
When I was younger I liked more outlandish characters especially for RP purposes as it gave me a challenge- this was in Pen and Paper RP ;P

In video games I prefer to play my own gender because I do like to be able to identify with my characters to some extent, it matters more in video games because of the strong visual aspect I think.
I also play with my husband a lot and we have spent 11 years playing various duo’s

In GW2 I made human females because I think the characters are extremely well done. They really do not have to look like Barbie, that is why we have sliders
Actually all the character models are great.

What I do find odd is that anyone actually cares about the gender of the person behind the toon.
What I find even odder is people hitting on a female toon.
My main looks kind of shy and bookish and she gets chatted up so much it makes me wonder what goes on in people’s heads.

My advice to you would be to gather everything you come across and sell the mats you don’t need like ore, gems, cooking ingredients. this should enable you to make up the lack of jute and leather. To get a bit of cash, vendor blue and green drops.
If you have completed the starter zone on your main you will not be very successful in farming. My suggestion would be just to play the game normally and gather, save up and stock a bit on materials you can turn into materials you need.
You might want to look at your crafting process as well.
You want to use discovery as much as possible so make the components and insignias/inscriptions and combine in the discovery pane.
Here is a guide that might help you to have some idea of what to craft at different lvls:

there is also a guide, that will let you lvl Artificer just through potions, it is fast and cheap

hope this helps

What I did with my friends was just to invite them over and take a look at the game at my place. Let them make a char- do the tutorial. Show them some of the world on my main etc.
For the ones who live in different countries from me I just spammed with screens everyday until they gave in :P

I have a rabid exotic ring but it came from a reward- I think completing a zone. It is soulbound, can’t be salvaged.

Am I really the only one that sees updates on my log in screen?
edit: I have had GW2 on my interest list since beta- they never intrude and I have to click them to see what’s up- what is the problem exactly?
Oh wait: But I see it here first in any case – so again:
Why the complaint?

ok I just found out my exotic set is not lvl80 foo!- I bought it for the skin :P
So don’t know if I qualify

GS/Staff Mesmer- (condition)

Power: 1491
Precision: 1059
Toughness: 1308
Vitality: 1521

Attack: 2591
Crit: 11%
Armour: 2048
Health: 21 132

You should transmute the skins with a level 80 peice that has the stats you want on the skins you want.

That is the plan, I think I’m just going to craft a Carrion set and stick my Whispers skin on it and then start saving big time for a Khilbron set Then I get both stats sets I want.

Keep in mind that some other weapons look like precursors. I have Usoku’s Needle as my main weapon, but it has the same model as Spark.

Yes that is true. I have Imryldeen and Khryosaor the Golden Sword.
I got them because I love the skins, later I found out that they use the same models as the Legend and Dawn.
I was wondering why I got so many whispers all of a sudden. (sometimes I can be very blonde)

But that is really beside the point. The Op makes me sad because I would dearly love the Bifrost.
I can never see that happening tough- I think at this point you should only consider a legendary if you somehow magically manage to get a precursor and then only start to work on the other things you need.
Regardless of gambling culture the precursor really should be looked at- some or other skill/ rare ingredient or whatever would be much more in fitting with the idea of Legendary achievement.

@ Azjenco- Thanks for the link
That makes it a bit more sense.
I would still love unique holidays though. Halloween is Halloween

Yes, I know what you mean. I do appreciate it that they try to “Tyria-ify” the holidays, but Tyria driven holidays would have been something great though. Like say, during the span of GW1 festivals were created and that would then have passed over to GW2.

For example:
Festival of Night – A week long festival (coinciding with Nightfall’s release date) to celebrate the day the heroes of Tyria battled and stopped Abaddon.
The festivities could be monster/corruption inspired, where the theme of conquering the ‘night’ would be celebrated.

Day(s) of the Dragon – A five day event that recounts when the Great Destroyer first caused trouble in Tyria. The five days could each be themed after one of the Dragons.

Some could even be culture related:
The Unification – A weekend event commemorating the events at Ebonhawke where charr and humans stood together, and would eventually lead to an alliance.

Spring of Life – A celebration for when the firstborn sylvari first set foot on Tyria.

I really like all your suggestions
It would be fun and meaningful in a way that is unique to Tyria.
Here is hoping that they bring us some of these in the future.
