Open World, I’ve always hated instanced content since it makes me feel claustrophobic for some reason so dungeons are not fun for me at all.
The Open World in this game is amazing and although I do want to get 100% (60 atm), I also have a tendency to wander off and explore.
I love poking my nose into everything and seeing what I can discover. Some of the most amazing sights I have seem have been hidden in little out of the way caves and underwater.
I also get a kick out of playing on my different alts because it seems to me that the world looks and plays differently from each perspective.
Cursed Shore is Zaitan’s back-yard, what did you expect?
I am not bothered by commanders in PvE except when they afk on a waypoint and the icon makes it impossible to use the waypoint. When that happens I ask them nicely to please move to the side of the waypoint. Mostly they do it, sometimes not.
very well said and I completely agree with you.
The phrase Forum PvP is genius and made me giggle
I feel bad for new players coming here for info too- it’s like you are all shiny and happy- pop in to say hi and unleash a kitten storm.
Thankfully in-game it is another story and I see new players being welcomed with open arms every day. The atmosphere is the game is very different from these forums.

“I can make that jump”
GW2 is not GW1-
I have about 600 hrs and what it got me was fun, otherwise I wouldn’t logg in
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
I put this in the suggestion forum but it just got lost so I’ll put the link here too
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/external?l=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.stonefacecreations.com%2FHEADGALLERY.html
I would love any/ all of those
I love it, plain and simple.
Sure I don’t agree with some of the changes but I still play pretty much the way I did at headstart and I’m still enjoying myself immensely. To me the world just grows more beautiful the more I play
So I got an account for my daugther- she got her hat, mini Rytlock etc.
I pre-purchased a regular edition for me and my husband- we are not upset- we are glad that our daugther gets to enjoy these items
- I even made her an invisible bag to stow the mini in- a Charr with a wizard hat and a mini Rytlock. Too adorable- thanks Anet
@ OP come on really Tixx is an Asura , don’t tell me you didn’t see a toypocalypse coming!
Please can we have out of combat weapon swap?
@ OP and elementalist is really not the same type of class as your classic fantasy archetype mage- like you would have in D&D.
Think more in terms of a master of elements or even attunement dancer.
You are severely limiting yourself by only sticking to fire, our skills are also on long cool down so by sticking to one element you are probably watching your cd bar and auto attacking
I am allergic to MF so I never use it- I literally get no drops using MF, I always thought it was a placebo
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
Yes pretty much.
I love crafting though so that’s fine by me
Master Crafter achievement?
Crafting does not really make money except in very lucky and isolated cases.
You do get to make all your own gear though, my alts are so spoilt leveling up it is not even funny
No thanks please- I am very attached to my server since I have been playing there since BWE.
I play this game as much as I can which is most days but I know that over the holidays I won’t be able to play for almost a month due to family commitments.
I would hate to log on only to find that I am now on some random server and then find I cannot transfer back to my home
I don’t know how you could possibly determine who would never come back, so you cannot really say servers are carrying dead weight- what would be your cut off time?
Also the fact that server population fluctuates suggests to me that the pop might well be based on people playing at the time- otherwise it would remain static.

As far as I understand it, what makes Divinty Runes so sought after is the fact that your gear is not so build dependent.
So if you had to change your build Divinity Runes would work just as well with the new build.
I think they are more versatile because of this but I don’t personally use Ruby orbs or Divinity Runes
He he I would love some meadowy type hair
Anything with a mix of different lengths and textures actually and definitely some that mix grasses and flowers.
Longer hair like branches from a willow and even medium/short hair that looks like an asparagus fern would be great- kind of like dread-locks
I would pay any amount of money to be able to get norn female hair for my humans- any amount!
just as an aside I have already bought one total makeover kit.
Lol I always assume when I see a white haired human female that she is played by a teen-aged male.
Sorry!
Here is my main Diamond Mask- mesmer.
I am kind of surprised that I have never seen her face used by anyone else in game, I did tweak it a lot. Whispers Set is awesome for her
Masquerade Set hands down.
Sorry I don’t have screens for it since I was going for exactly the opposite look
It should show off the glow as well.
I’ve seen them looking very classy (read -cough- expensive) and very tarty in game- the dyes have a lot to do with how it turns out.
(edited by Morrigan.2809)
Mine isn’t that bad, thank god but I did notice that the eye animation seems to be slower than the head turning animation if you follow what I mean- it results in a noticeable squint or what ever you would call it. (Weird word filter lol)I made her eyes bright yellow and it is driving me nuts!
The other day I was thinking about rolling a second mesmer for my main alt… 8D
(Other professions aren’t nearly as fun to play!)I was actually considering this too. A gigantic burly Norn.
I did make another mesmer for an alt
It was such a relief to stop trying to pretend to like the other professions
The last couple of days has seemed better to me especially in the crafted material drops.
I see a lot of greens and blues in addition to the useless trophies, no rares though.
I have been leveling alts and has not set foot in Orr on my main since just after the Karka event.
Then again since it is luck it is probably meaningless- just thought I’d check in here.
No reply huh?
If you aren’t into pvp, exploration, collecting cosmetic items or dungeons but rather have focus on levels and grind then this is the wrong game. Sure there’s some optional grind there but that’s the thing it’s optional. You make your own fun in this game using what is there, you aren’t told that you ‘need this or that’.
The PvP and exploration are so basic though. There is next to no customization for the classes and exploring the world isn’t even exploring. It’s a checklist on a map. It’s not adventurous, it’s like going to a theme park.
If you are under the impression that ticking all the poi, vistas etc on a map to get 100%=exploration sure.
Except it doesn’t- the coolest things in the game can only be found by actual exploration and have no tick box attached to them- look around, forget about your mimi-map and you might be surprised that it is not as basic as you seem to think. There is no sense of danger at all though. Exploring just isn’t fun for me when it’s impossible to have any kind of real failure. I mean what’s the point, just to have it done? It’s pretty tedious imo.
I like exploring to be an adventure. GW2 feels more like an introduction to mmos than an actual game.
Ahhh I see, while I agree that there is no danger involved other than mobs- I guess you are talking open PvP? I do find it fun
- the point to me is the fact that I get to see really cool things, find hidden things, read lore in weird little journals with clues and sometimes even get a chest for my trouble.
It kind of makes me feel a little bit like Indiana Jones to be honest- I think I’ve poked my nose into almost every cave and nook and cranny on every map I’ve been on in the game.
To me that is the adventure.
Not to mention, I have over 300 hours/full exotics/nearly full Arah EXP set on my Guardian and don’t even have HALF the waypoints. Not only have I not experienced it once per character, I am not missing out on anything but not having them explored. Have LA Wp’s and all Dungeon Wp’s? Check! Nowhere else worth traveling.
Now, that is a problem way bigger than having/not having mounts. If the game has been designed right, you would have been missing out on not having the world explored, and there should definitely be an incentive to visit any zone.
The fact that you can just unlock LA and dungeon waypoints and not move beyond those is a clear sign how much GW2 has failed in it’s original goal.
I don’t think you can say GW2 has failed in it’s goal just because one player has tunnel vision.
After all it is his choice how he plays- I don’t play like that but that is my choice.
The fact that we can both play as we want seems like a success of that goal to me.
Mounts however is not a solution to tunnel vision :P

As the title says.
I recently made my first Sylvari and was quite disappointed with the very limited hair.
Especially since there are so many awesome real life plants to use as inspiration.
So I will just leave this here:
http://www.stonefacecreations.com/HEADGALLERY.html
I came across this during one of the BWE’s and I thought it would be great for Sylvari.
Anyone else have some examples/inspiration sources that they would like to see in game?
It is boring, pointless, never-ending and soul destroying and lazy from a content point of view.
But that is just my opinion
I like it the way it is- it is fun leveling and alt friendly and sure there are no bells and whistles when you hit 80 and no-one pats you on the back.
I felt more of an achievement when I maxed my first craft.
Rest assured that a new 80 is not the same as having an 80 for a while. When you hit lvl cap is the time to really play with your build, learn to be skilled with your choices etc.
As for ridiculous requirements just so you can progress leveling- urrrgghhh.
@ OP the fact that you say you have way point to LA and to dungeons and that mounts will help people discover and explore the world- is a bit bizarre. you didn’t bother to explore the world in the first place how would mounts help you? Since you didn’t explore the world you also wouldn’t know anything about it because you seem to think there is nothing to see.
So basically you want a mount so that you can zip by the scenery on your way to a dungeon right?
No sorry- I only have about 60% world exploration on my main and the reason I only have 60% is because there is sooo much to see, that everywhere I go, I get distracted.
I get to play a lot of content though and it has been great fun.
I do it on foot, that way I get to see if people need help, a cool DE, or -oh my what is that cool looking cave over there. you get the idea.
There is no place for mounts in GW2 – it would take away much more than it provides.
@ OP
I love this game and I have been playing since the betas- really it is a very cool game.
I am still amazed by something everyday
As a new player, welcome to the game-
If you want to get the best out of these forums avoid the general discussion section and focus on the sub-forums-people there actually discuss things.
I hope you enjoy this game as much as I have.
PS I hope you read far enough to actually get to my post- I know I didn’t
As for your crafting xp question-you gain roughly 10 real levels per crafting profession maxed.
It is a ton of xp at low levels.
As others have said explore other areas, gather, do de’s etc- killing mobs would probably be one of the least effective ways to gain xp.
when you see a mole heap in your garden and think- ooohhhh no- Dredge!
I have no problem with waypoint costs, It is really not that much and frankly I have never even considered travel costs if someone asks for help in mapchat- they provide a link and I go.
Clearly there are others like me since, I have never had a problem asking for help myself and then not have players show up immediately.
As for traveling in lower areas on an 80- typically if you are helping a friend they are doing hearts, poi, vistas etc that require them to walk around- if they are just doing map completion then sure they jump- but so what? yes it can cost me 4 silver per jump- it is just 4 silver and I get to help my friends.
I have crafted items worth much more to give away to my friends.
So waypoints are not on my list of things that need fixing.
The event in Bloodtide that has been bugged since launch is a much bigger deal to me.
no- I love being able to sell stuff for actual gold.
also they were an eyesore
I haven’t changed, my favorite has been Mesmer since BWE3
I love the class though it has certainly changed since then, but I adapt.
I also like Elementalist and have one as my main alt, my next in line is Thief but I have trouble getting into it- I think I am missing something fundamental there.
My Guardian trails behind…..
Oh and I made a second Mesmer
…it allows me to interact with people in fun ways I couldn’t in other games. Raising people who have been downed or defeated, helping them when they are going toe-to-toe with a Champion, or even swooping in to help them complete a dynamic event.
Most other MMOs draw a line between players. Only healers can heal. Only the person or party attacking that monster gets XP. Only that guy over there will get that node because he will reach it first, etc.
Why do you love Guild Wars 2?
Those are my reasons too
Add to that an amazing open world I can play in with others and the fact that I am glad to see other players instead of hating them on sight because they will steal my loot, node, kill etc,
the feeling of yay after a random bunch of people who showed up kills a really hard boss,
the incredible beauty of the game and how the different stories of the various peoples in all the maps intermingle.
The feeling of making an alt and seeing it all from a different perspective.
Underwater combat, actually the whole idea that a huge part of the world is hidden, not just underwater but in caves and hidden temples and you have to search to find it….
ok I’ll stop now
haha my daughter will rock this!
I’ve been looking for an excuse to buy her an account, now just for the new pc..
Gunnar’s Hold-
friendly, helpful people, busy maps and people seem to look for groups for all the dungeons.
Really nice server- give it a go
Just to get this straight OP- are you complaining about not getting a precursor? Seriously?
Oh you spent 3 hours at an event and now you feel you deserve it?
What about those players who spent 100’s of Gold and months of their time and still don’t have one?
If every single person in the game had a precursor how rare do you think legendary’s will be?
I still have no chest and would rejoice if I got a box, accessory and some rares out of it. That is if I get a mail. If not, so what?
I haven’t done Claw in a long time since I dislike Frostgorge, but I do Shatterer regularly- I have no idea what drops I get for it, I just think he is pretty and he happens to be on one of my favorite maps.
Blegh to the Sunless.
Wow this thread blows my mind!
After people have been complaining for two weeks about not receiving rewards for the event- Anet makes good and sends those rewards and people QQ?
I joked this would happen- I wasn’t serious
Get a grip, you are getting your reward, say thank you!
They didn’t have to do this at all
aww sorry about that- I was sure it would work since the caps and horns etc aren’t soulbound, never tried it with regular town clothes though
Oh no..you’re right -_- I think I deleted mine…. arghhh lol well thats that..gotta wait for a way to get my starter skirt back xD
Thanks for answering Morrigan
I deleted mine on my main too but if you have an alt they should still have it, it is account bound and you can transfer it to the char you want
No problem
that looks like the normal town clothes skirt dyed yellowy orange.
toggle to your town clothes on the hero panel it is an icon at the top.
that would be great and tbh, that is what I thought it would be.
I was very disappointed when I had no more Whispers missions and now that my alt is Vigil, I also want the Order part of the story to continue.
I love how the Orders handle things from different perspectives and I love how they interact with the different races.
It would be great if we could get a couple of order missions a month as part of an ongoing personal story.
Oh please I would love love your staves!
This is awesome- it needs to be in the game
