Anyone else excited for new pets?

I was way too spoiled by WoW – if there was an animal in the game, you could tame it, no questions asked. You could have a viper, a raptor – anything. I remember even taming a special white named tiger that is only available through a quest.

Not knowing a single thing about WoW, were the pets balanced in any way? That sounds like an awful experience unless the pets were completely generic. Imagine PvPing where one guy has a rabbit pet and one has a 50 foot dragon pet.

Thanks for asking, and my answer is that all pets were roughly the same size, none were too small or too large, and never larger than your character (hell, you could tame a T-Rex, but it was only ever the same height as your toon). What made taming them all fun and interesting is that, just like in GW2, each animal type has a different skill. A snake could poison, tiger could bleed, something else could do fire attacks, etc. I think…they all had only one special skill just like GW2 has, but…it’s obviously been a very long time since I last played!

I really want more variety of pets in GW2 and for more options to be available in the core/vanilla maps.

Sylvari = Canon race for GW2 story?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Just my impressions from playing this game since release. Sure, I haven’t touched the story since the end of HoT (I’m not going to go into how much I hate the characters and story threads that have been introduced since then), but in terms of the vanilla story…it really feels like the Sylvari are the best race to play through as. Not only are they born when the dragon crisis arises, but Trahearne is immensely important to the vanilla story, the Pale Tree and Caithe have huge roles in HoT onward, and the main theme song of the vanilla story is from the Grove and Pale Tree (the music that plays during the end credits and at other key moments). Sylvari also play a huge role in HoT in general thanks to Mordremoth.

On top of all of that, it seems to me that the best of the three Personal Story options to choose from as a Sylvari to best tie into the rest of the vanilla story is the one involving the Orrian mirror. But that’s my personal opinion after having played all of the Sylvari PSs.

What do the rest of you think? All races are important to the story (vanilla and post HoT), but Sylvari feel as if they have the most relevance to it.

I definitely want to see new pets in the game that are not locked behind the expansion (the conditions under which you can tame the HoT pets are ridiculous for a casual gamer like myself). I was way too spoiled by WoW – if there was an animal in the game, you could tame it, no questions asked. You could have a viper, a raptor – anything. I remember even taming a special white named tiger that is only available through a quest. I love Ranger/Hunter classes, but GW2’s pet selection is incredibly depressing for me. I don’t play WoW anymore due to not wanting to pay a subscription fee and the irritating changes they made to the game over the years.

Edit: Realized you needed ‘42’ so I’ll keep looking.

Edit2: Have you tried bypassing your firewall?

I did look through that list already. In my post above, I mentioned that I tried to add it to the Windows firewall “exception” list (to allow the program through it) but the part of my C drive that it forced me to search in did not have the program. I have owned this game for years on my laptop and this has never happened before.

For the past two days, I have been receiving this error code whenever I try to log into the game. It happened once a few days ago, but then worked fine later in the day. I’ve been attempting to log in once in the morning and once when I get home to see if its solved itself. I have even tried to run the game as Administrator, restarted the computer, etc. I am unable to find the game when I try to add it to my Windows firewall exception list. I’ve tried using an ethernet cord, and tried wireless internet. None of these have fixed the issue. It’s obviously not a password issue, since I am able to log in here.

What’s interesting is that the “Common Error Codes” list on this site lists this as starting with “48”, but my error message began with “42”, but the description is the same as what I have received.

I am really hoping that I won’t have to uninstall and reinstall the entire game.

Axe/Axe can someone throw some light?

in Ranger

Moyayuki.3619

I’ve tried Axe as both main hand, off hand, and dual-wield, and it’s really hard to understand why people like it. I tend to be a pure damage individual, and don’t like to accidentally hit another enemy when I only want to kite one. That’s why I even use the Thief’s bow sparingly, since it will tag more enemies than I want to fight even if I try not to be too close to a mob. I guess for me, there’s just something very satisfying about how the GS and LB/SB hit my targets as a Ranger. Multi-target hitting weapons (as in, bounces between targets) have always felt weird to me in combat.

So I guess I’m the only one confused by what’s goin on? I dunno maybe i should /exit stage cos I have like 0 clue whats happening atm. OP (I think?) saying she bought game on release (bought =/= paying money?). Then op imply later that she didn’t bought the base game when it costed money. What’s goin on? and what world did i landed on

PS also what?? when did they change so only lvl35 can enter LA. do u mean.. If I didn’t have HoT.. than this would also apply me? I have no way to test cos I have HoT so.. whats goin on?? hlp me understand

I own the base game. I bought it back when it costed money. My friend is new & has the free version of the game & as a free player you can’t get into LA as a free player till level 35. However he can still do some of the festival since doors are scattered outside of LA. He just can’t get full experience. If he buys HoT he can immediately get into LA without being level 35.

For clarification, your friend will only need to buy the base version of the game in order to gain access to LA without restriction. HoT is only needed in order to play the Living World Season 3 story and travel to Heart of Maguuma/Bloodstone Fen/Ember Isles and to unlock Elite Spec at level 80.

I also don’t like how, if you don’t have enough Mastery Points to level up, all of the XP you earn while your bar is full goes into thin air. It does not get dumped into the next Master level. I also still dislike the HoT mobs and maps.

But I like gliding and Elite Specs.

I liked the old LA. I like the new LA.

I don’t like going backwards, just because people have fond memories of what was. The old LA was destroyed and I think it’s a bad idea to minimize the impact that had on Tyria by trying to restore things from the old LA.

Vienna, Austria was mostly rebuilt after being mostly destroyed in WWII with people using the old architectural plans and mostly trying to make it look how it did before the war. It’s pretty, but it feels false.

tl;dr I hope the don’t change LA to make it look like the old LA, in any way shape or form. (I don’t object to them making functional or aesthetic changes to move forward in its new life.)

Not to change the subject at hand, but I visited Vienna for four days and I never got a “fake” feeling from it. It felt like a city that wasn’t about to just forget about where it came from.

Sure, LA is still a port city, so that’s consistent. But it doesn’t feel vibrant enough, and my biggest complaint is just how BIG and open-spaced everything is, both in terms of ground space and how tall things are. It’s just too airy, feels like wasted space to me in certain areas of LA.

That’s a mistake. If players are going to make a report, they already have a good idea of which option they’re looking for. So long as they’re unambiguous, you’re fine.

Not including those options in there means problems don’t get reported at all.
Firstly because if players have to go to the effort of opening up the website and submitting a ticket, they’re not going to bother most of the time – unless it’s serious, e.g. they’ve lost gold.
Secondly because even if they do submit a ticket, there’s too many chances to miss, or misspell, important information and thus nothing happens.
In some cases the in-game report is more reliable simply because it has access to information the players don’t – the proliferation of obscene guild names in WvW has happened precisely because the ticket-based reporting system doesn’t work.

THIS!!!!! SOOOOOO MUCH THIS!!!!!!!!! I cant tell you the number of times ive seen sexual references in a players guild name, with no real way to report it. Ive tried using the inappropriate player name… ive tried engaging them in chat to describe the meaning of their guild name and reported the chat… still, I see 90% of the players with offensive guild names STILL using the said name. ts not like I report frivolously on anything that REMOTELY seems inappropriate, but when I see names like “we Fuchs U MoM” or other similarly named names/guild names, I report that… and nothing happens.

We need a way to directly report guild names as an option. I still see a person I reported that uses a female name with the last name Fuchs that I know several of my guild members have reported, and I myself have reported. I keep that person on my friends list just to see if the name gets changed, and guess what…. its still there, 2 months later….

Without knowing the exact situation, to me your final concern may not mean anything sexual at all. “Fuchs” is actually a German surname that means “fox”. Heck, I named a male toon of mine “Joachim Fuchs” in reference to an original character I had made years ago who was German. But the guild name…that definitely sounds like a tricky way to make an offensive reference. The character name, though…we’d have to find out if the player meant it as a innuendo or was just using the German surname.

[Feedback] The forced feeling Caithe-hate

in Living World

When faced with an innocent who feared being captured and tormented by someone that Caithe agreed would torture the poor woman, Caithe opted to kill the innocent rather than oppose the person she actually believed would commit the heinous act. This despite the fact that she was more powerful than the villain of the piece and could easily stop her.

Great hero there.

Didn’t you even pay attention to the fact that Wynne was adamant that she be killed? And I really don’t think that Faolain would be against trying to hurt Caithe if she stood in her way. It wasn’t that Caithe was trying to protect Faolain or anything of that sort. She just listened to the plea of this “innocent”, and I remember her expression and movements being hesitant. She didn’t enjoy it, but she couldn’t deny Wynne her request.

I never called her a “hero”, either. I noticed all of the anti-Caithe players like to put words into other people’s mouths. I don’t understand, is it just fun to hate on a video game character who’s never been portrayed as being evil?

I also prefer the original GW2 Lion’s Arch. It not only had more character, but was much easier to navigate. Now it feels like, to quote others, a “theme park”. It does not feel like a place where people live at all. Everything is too large, spaced too far apart. The decor is odd-looking, to say the least. It doesn’t’ feel like an international (Tyrian) city. Sure, you can also argue that the original LA didn’t feel “international” either, but it just was more aesthetically-pleasing.

OP, I am also fed up with what ANet has done since LWS2. It just doesn’t feel right for our toon to be so aggressively hateful towards Caithe, a character who is 1) a Firstborn, 2) a member of Destiny’s Edge, and 3) the Sylvari toons’ mentor. Why would anyone expect a character like that to have evil intentions? Misguided, maybe, and even good/important characters make mistakes, but not evil. I don’t know about the rest of you, but from the moment this whole egg and Caithe-distrust thing started, I never once assumed she was taking the egg for evil. I payed attention to the character, and I knew that I had nothing to worry about. And it turns out that my gut was RIGHT. There was nothing to worry about. She wasn’t bringing the egg to Mordremoth, but was trying to take it to Tarir. I never once doubted Caithe. I don’t understand the blind hatred, especially from our playable character. It goes against everything else that’s been established about our character since vanilla Personal Story.

Now, if anyone wants to try to pin Caithe’s past on her as evidence of being evil, might I point out that…

1) Caithe did love Faolain, and when you are in love, you don’t necessarily imagine that the other will turn out evil. I think Caithe definitely gave Faolain a benefit of a doubt initially, as would happen in real life.

2) Caithe did not willingly kill the Centaurs with the intent to wipe them out. She heard Faolain cry out, with absolutely zero context as to why, and rushed over to find them attacking her. Naturally, without context, she thought they started the fight. (It doesn’t help that the game forces us to fight, and that the Centaur leader and Faolain both decided to escalate matters. They are the guilty parties in this situation).

3) When Caithe killed Wynne, she did so to a) spare her from being tortured by Faolain (realizing how twisted she was at that point) and b) because Wynn didn’t want Faolain to learn the truth about Sylvari’s link to Mordremoth.

I just thin it’s ridiculous that no one seems to understand what it means to actually LISTEN to someone’s explanation for their actions, or the concept of forgiveness. It’s not always easy, but I don’t understand why the Commander continued to distrust Caithe or let her apologize even AFTER they had heard her explanation. Jesus… Just feel like the playable character is no longer “my” character(s) anymore due to what HoT and LWS2/3 has done to them, setting their personality in stone.

Ranger pet selection/swapping bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Something very strange happened on a Ranger toon I was playing today. For some reason, any changes I make to my pet lineup don’t stick when I change maps. Currently, I have a Blue Moa (which I chose as my starter pet. This toon is currently level 7), but when I tried to pick a Sylvan Hound, suddenly I had two Blue Moas in both of my slots.

Is anyone else having any sort of issue with pet swapping/picking? I am not sure how well I described my issue.

Caithe. (LVS3 Possible Spoilers)

in Living World

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

@CETheLucid
You claimed that she had apologized. I point out that she has only apologized for taking the egg, not for the other things that she did. Her apology fails to address her greatest crimes.

Killing of Wynne: That’s been argued before in this thread before. The point is that Caithe had the choice to stand up to Faolaine and defend Wynne. She didn’t. She went with killing an innocent instead of standing up to a torturer/murderer.

Slaughter of Centaurs: So you just let that… go? And mock the idea of justice as cover ignoring it?

1.) Wynne expressly asked Caithe to kill her, both so that she wouldn’t suffer and so that the secret would not be known. I highly doubt that Faolain would let Caithe dissuade her from torturing Wynne.

2.) I seriously cannot believe that people blame Caithe for the deaths of the Centuars. Did we play two completely different versions of the game? Sure, the game makes us fight them, but look at the facts: Caithe accompanied Faolain to the camp, but she had no idea what was going to happen. Then, while she is preoccupied, she suddenly hears Faolain cry out, and sees that she’s being attacked. Caithe had absolutely no idea what happened. Whatever it was, we all know it was Faolain’s fault, given the type of person she was at that point. Caithe jumped into action thinking that she needed help. Then the Centaurs escalated the situation by increasing their attacks. Caithe was not there with the intent to murder! She was thrown into it and didn’t know what truly happened. Needless to say, I’m sure she was upset about what happened.

Caithe. (LVS3 Possible Spoilers)

in Living World

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

I made my own topic on this before I found out this one existed and, to put it simply, I do not understand the blind distrust and hatred the player character (PC) has for Caithe. It makes me glad that I’ve never gotten to LWS2, HoT, and LWS3 with a Sylvari character because it would feel so OoC, after developing a bond with Caithe as a mentor and friend. When I first played LWS2, I never viewed Caithe taking the egg as an evil act. I knew, based on my experiences with her in the vanilla Personal Story, that she had good reasons to do what she does. The hatred the PC exhibits against her, that comes to a head in LWS3, just boggles my mind and has no good explanation.

Caithe, the Sylvari mentor, and a member of Destiny’s Edge who initially tries to bring them back together after Snaff’s death, is suddenly distrusted. She’s the last Sylvari I would assume to be so easily controlled by Mordremoth. We saw in LWS2 that she got into some unsavory situations thanks to Faolain, but none of it was done with deliberate malice in mind. She killed Centaurs over a misunderstanding. She didn’t want to kill them. She didn’t know that it was Faolain who started the attack. Heck, when I first played that instance, I felt my jaw drop in disbelief as the game MADE me fight them. it made me question the writers, not Caithe. But then when Caithe kills the Sylvari at the end of LWS2, I viewed it as a mercy – not only to protect the horrible truth about Sylvari, but also to spare her a horrible, painful death at the hands of Faolain.

I really have not liked the path that the writers have taken Caithe and the PC, especially making the PC have such a defined personality with none of the choices available that we had in the vanilla Personal Story. I feel very distanced from my PC, because they are too defined. The writers got to dictate what kind of person the PC was in the Living Story, not me, and that rubs me the wrong way after seeing my characters be more fluid in the Personal Story.

I will always trust Caithe and find the PC’s hatred of her unjustified. Who the hell doesn’t allow an ally to explain themselves, and just jumps to unnecessary conclusions?

Complaint: Player character and Caithe

in Living World

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

I don’t think the PC was irrationally upset. Remember that Caithe distanced herself from the Commander, snatched the egg, and ran away from the Commander when roads crossed. The Commander at the time didn’t know did that Caithe was getting the egg to Tarir, all the Commander sees is ‘a sylvari who steals the egg that could’ve been our saving’.
So with all things considered, I think the PC was very rational in their decisions. Even though Caithe redeemed herself, a hurt pride is not easily fixed, and we see now with Lazarus that the Commander is no longer willing to take the little risks

But that is the thing, just by looking at the replies in this thread alone, let alone the others, you should be able to tell that not every player thinks like you. I know I don’t. I don’t have any problem with Caither whatsoever, because I understand why she made the choices she did. Its jarring to me to then have my PC have the complete opposite reaction literally every time Caithe appears in the story.

Its a really minor thing for me (even though it would be a substantial amount of work), but I would love it if ANet could somehow implement different dialogue options at key points in each episode. It could either be an actual choice that your character makes, or the choice is automatically made based on which one of your personality trait scores is higher (charisma, ferocity, diplomacy).

I’m actually glad that I haven’t gotten to HoT and LWS3 with a Sylvari, because it would be even more jarring for me, after the trust and rapport that that character built with Caithe. And I, too, miss being able to make decisions in the story, even if the eventual ending is the same no matter what. I also still am upset about Charisma, Ferocity, and Diplomacy being essentially taken out of the game. They still exist, yes, and you can pick one of the three in character creation, but they play absolutely no role in the entire game, now. If you pick a “Noble” or “Charismatic” dialogue option, it doesn’t affect you whatsoever. I still don’t understand why they nullified those choices.

Complaint: Player character and Caithe

in Living World

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

To elaborate on my post, and after reading the responses here, I will say that what bothers me the most about what was done with the PC and Caithe, is that Caithe is a major character, a member of Destiny’s Edge, and the mentor to any Sylvari character you create. I’ve never seen her in a negative light, she just has flaws like the rest of us and has shown great determination to not give in to evil, especially after what she experienced with Faolain’s treachery. In fact, she was one of the characters who initially opened conversation to bring DE back together during Vanilla GW2. How can anyone think that someone like that would be up to anything nefarious? I just can’t stand how the PC and the rest of the characters made blatant assumptions about CAITHE of all people. They jumped to conclusions with no factual evidence.

As I said in my original post, I never, ever assumed that Caithe stole the egg for evil, and did not view her as responsible for Faolain’s poor decision-making (the blame lies solely on her, she was in charge of her own destiny, after all. And Caithe killing that one Sylvari before Faolain could torture her was a sign of mercy). I just can’t udnerstand why the writers would make all of the characters view Caithe evilly, when I saw no evidence of evil in her. It’s really making me hate my PC’s personality, because IRL I would never be so cruel to someone when I had no idea what happened. I would ask for an explanation instead of being in such deep denial.

Complaint: Player character and Caithe

in Living World

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

I’ve played all of the Living World seasons up until the beginning of Rising Flames (just got to Ember Bay), and I have been really irritated by the attitude of our player character ever since late Season 2. Our character has always had a semi-defined personality and role in the main story, but more and more it feels like the writers are shoving their own idea of the PC onto us, when before we could have many opportunities to build our character’s choices the way we want.

My biggest complaint is the grudge the PC has against Caithe. As I’ve said, I’ve played the whole story up until the newest episode, but I never saw why the PC and the other characters allowed themselves to get so unbelievably, irrationally, upset with Caithe. They immediately assumed she was being nefarious. Sure, I get the whole “Mordremoth can mind control Sylvari” fear, but I would never view Caithe, a Firstborn and Sylvari PC mentor, as being that weak-minded. I knew deep down that she took the egg for a good purpose from the beginning. So when my toon practically screams at her throughout HoT and LWS3, it really aggravated me and I wanted to yell at my computer screen. It’s not at all how I imagine my PC acting, no matter which toon I’m playing. They also go so far as to insinuate that Caithe’s stealthiness is some shady behavior! WTH! And not giving her a chance to explain herself, and she only does so by having to cut the PC off from their irrational rantings.

If anything, that is my biggest complaint of the entire LWS3/HoT story, on top of Rytlock being irrationally tightlipped about his experience in the Mists, to the point that he gets himself demoted and arrested. Seriously? No character is using any common sense in these Living World stories. Taimi is the only one who has genuinely grown on me. Personally, I now see her as the best of the new characters.

Rant over, but hopefully I’m not the only one feeling so peeved by what the writers have done to the PC and Caithe.

The giant shoulders of both outfits and separate armor pieces makes me think of WoW (not that I dislike WoW, it was my first MMO. I just moved away from it when I no longer had the free time to justify paying a subscription), and I don’t see GW2 as being WoW. Some shoulders, though, look great on certain races, genders, or even body builds, but not all. I usually hide shoulder armor on Charr because of how oversized they look. Many shoulder pieces also have serious clipping issues (which doesn’t usually bother me unless it’s incredibly obvious 24/7).

If you’re only part way through a part I’m not sure if it saves your progress. Like if you did half of RF then jumped to something else, when you came back to RF you might have to start from the beginning.

But at long as there is a marker for where you are in the story you can go back to that marker at any time.

Where I am so far is the part where I need to kill the Eye of Zhaitan so I think it’s still the early part of the level 80 PS.

add hide function for costumes shoulders too

I agree! There are certain outfits I like but the shoulders get in the way. Although I love the phoenix motif of the Imperial Outfit, the decorative part on it really likes to clip through my character’s hair and heads at times, which is distracting. Also, some races/genders’ shoulders on some outfits look awful compared to others.

Q: Can 80s jump between PS/LS seasons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Moyayuki.3619

As the title says: If I have a level 80 toon, does the game allow me to jump to LWS2, HoT, or LWS3 at any time, and if so, can I switch back to where I was before I jumped forward? I have a new main toon (Revenant) who hasn’t beaten the level 80 Personal Story parts yet, but I really, really want to experience Rising Flames with her instead of my Scrapper.

Is this possible, or do I need to trudge through the hell that was LWS2 and HoT, as well as Out of the Shadows to get to Rising Flames…?

I find it odd that in Core Tyria maps anyone with a Mastery rank does not get their number scaled down like everyone 80 and below do. I wonder why the exception.

Heart of Thorns Killed My Interest in GW2

I still play GW2, but not as often as I used to. I now only get real enjoyment out of playing low-level toons in Core Tyria. I think that psychologically, yes, HoT and the new LW Season have decreased my interest in the game. I have no interest at all in the Living World story or characters, and the maps are ridiculous. However, I enjoy gliding and Elite Specs.

But I agree, Trahearne needs a mini whether people like him or not. I am shocked that so many other characters get minis but he doesn’t. Do any members of Destiny’s Edge have minis, either?

Question on earning HPs for Elite Spec

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

I know that I already have two 80s who got their Elite Specs maxed or almost maxed, but with them they were already 80 and had done a ton of world completion before HoT was released, so therefore they already had a bunch of HPs to use on their Elite Spec. My question is in regards to a brand-new 80. She just hit level 80 yesterday and I only had enough HPs on me to unlock Reaper and the Shroud. I looked it up on the wiki and see that I need 250 HPs (minus the ones spent on the first two unlocks) to max out the Elite Spec.

So here is my question: If I go and proceed to work on world completion for the sake of earning HPs, how many maps on average may I need to do in order to get all or most of my Elite Spec unlocked? I am referring to Core Tyria right now, since I have yet to start the level 80 Personal Story chapter, don’t have LW or HoT zones unlocked yet. I’m considering trying to get as much of my Reaper spec filled up as possible before proceeding with my PS and LS.

Thanks!

Question about Reaper and condi damage

in Necromancer

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

No. GS shines with power damage and has little to no effect when compared to scepter.

What is a good, easily-obtainable stat combo for Reaper, then? Bezerker, etc. (never know what to call those titles as a general category). By “easily-obtainable”, I mean that it can be armor that I can craft myself, nothing Exotic. I realize some stats are only available by certain methods.

Question about Reaper and condi damage

in Necromancer

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

I took a look at the Reaper weapon skills and saw that most attacks do Chilling, with one of the skills inflicting conditions of other types (the description didn’t specify). With this knowledge in mind, I am wondering if a build involving Condition Damage would work for a GS-wielding Reaper. As my Necro is currently level 71, I want to think ahead. Currently using Scepter/Dagger as my main weapon set, and have been using Rampager or Carrion armor/weapons when I’m able to craft them. So…would this still be useful for Reaper GS?

Thanks!

Why do you play GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

I also agree with MMOStein. It is the best game in a sea of horrible grinders like MetinII, andf it is better than Eve Online which is more of an economy simulator and a job than a game.

As a big fan of the Warcraft games, I would have probably still played WoW instead of GW2 if I would have had a stable income to pay the sub. But GW1 was very good, and GW2 also was in its first years.

And no, you can´t have my stuff as I won´t leave right now even when I complain.^^

I feel similarly. Sure, there are many things that I dislike about post-Burning Crusade WoW, and in the end I do enjoy playing GW2 more, but some things about WoW make me wish I could stick with it. And they are things that I prefer over GW2. Ex: Variety of environments (desert, thick jungle, etc.), variety of music (I can listen to Tanaris’ and Stranglethorn Vale’s music over and over), and seamless open world (no loading screens between maps, unless you continent-jump). Those are things that, if put into GW2, would make me far more happy. The jungles and desert-ish locations in GW2 just aren’t as enticing to me. Not enough variety for my tastes. But I still love GW2 and play it every day.

I play it because I enjoy it, though I only do PvE stuff. I used to be a WoW player, but once I got more responsibilities in my life I was running out of free time to justify spending money on subscriptions, so I quit WoW and ended up finding GW2 to replace my MMO fix. Made me happy that it had no subs. Still miss WoW sometimes, however. But I’m enjoying myself in GW2.

Option to hide other player's backpack

There are times when I wish I could hide all backpacks. It’s very odd that even when I put the graphics all the way to their lowest setting, backpacks still show up. Distracting during a big world boss fight, which is really the only time I put graphics all the way down.

Nothing like trying to fight a world boss at 15fps with a screen full of sparkles in a mass of people.

Yeah, in those situations I think that the backpacks and weapon skins are counter-productive to having the graphics all the way down at all.

Open all?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Moyayuki.3619

Moyayuki.3619

I don’t see this happening. The problem with this is that if you open too many bags at once, your inventory will be full. Considering the stacks of bags I often see people post in map chat, there’s no way any single inventory can hold all that. You’d have to “open all” over and over again, after salvaging/selling the previous load. “Salvage all” does not have this problem, since there’s no way an inventory full of items will be salvaged into even more items. I’m not an encoder but my theory is that this is the reason why we won’t see an “open all” option anytime soon, if at all.

Still, “Opening All” a few times in a row (between which you sell junk and deposit mats) sure would beat having to double-click my mouse a hundred times in a row while also doing those clearing tactics. In the end, it would save a lot of clicking.

Two or Three years ago there was this bug. This bug made everything that required a daily reset, to not reset. I.E. Dungeons, Fractals, Dailies, Crafting time gates, Boss Rewards. Stuff like this. Many players, including myself, suffered from this. It lasted an entire week.

Anet refused to post here or admit something was wrong. They did not give an apology or any communication. For a full week. Things were chaotic with players as Anet was not talking. One day a patch came out and that was the only way we knew it was fixed. No apology nor a reason. Just a patch note saying they fixed it. There was also no reimbursement.

The point is, be grateful it was not a week long reset, accept the fact that they fixed a major problem and be thankful they actually communicated as soon as they found out.

Certainly seems like, in terms of communication with the community, ANet has learned its lesson.

Huh, I never recall being gated from the TP when I first got the game. I mean, there were those inconvenient gates caused by the “NPE” but ANet has since gotten rid of that (unlocking weapon and downed skills are one of the remaining features left over from that). Is this a “free to play” version of the game? Because that would make more sense to have restrictions than the full game.

The fact that ANet even made threads here about the situation is apology enough, on top of the fact that they have also been telling us that, if you lost anything, you are encouraged to send a support ticket so that they know that you were affected and they can get to work on returning your lost items (though I think the “refund” is within reason, correct?).

I’m just saying that there is a way to get your stuff back, which ANet has alerted us to, and that shows that they really do want to help anyone negatively affected by this issue.

2 hours might not be a big deal to many but it is too some people.

You can’t call other people entitled just because it is not a big deal for you.

Suppose servers were rolled back for a week, I doubt that would go down well with many here who were happy enough with this rolled back.
I would be fine with it, can I call you “entitled” if you wanted compensation?

Of course everyone would be upset if a rollback of that magnitude occurred. But right now, seeing as how it was only a few hours rollback (even if we couldn’t access the game for a whole day), people are not seeing how it’s a big deal. It’s all perspective. Regardless, I do sympathize with people who truly lost important items due to the rollback.

I found a roach in my cake today, but I’m not going to ask for compensation or anything because the cake tasted good.

That’s about how ridiculous the people sound who are saying they don’t want compensation.

The difference is, the roach would ruin that entire cake that you just spent money on, whereas the bug affects only one day of a game that you buy once and can choose to not spend any further money on for the entire time you own it. So, yes, some people were very negatively affected by the rollback, but others were not, but the cake analogy doesn’t work.

One mistake in 4 years, yup, time to complain on the forums for more gold.

Sadly the 1st response almost hits the nail on the head. The OP doesn’t seem to understand why they shut it down, just that they are mad it was.

So a restaurant gets a new dish(the patch) and ingredients in that dish manage to spread e coli or salmonella or something bad(the soulbound glitch). Once multiple people begin to get sick from it, they realize something is wrong and shut the restaurant down to clean and sanitize(fix and rollback). If you were to drive up to the restaurant for lunch and it was closed, would you find somewhere else to eat lunch and come back a different day? Or would you stand outside the restaurant waiting for them to reopen it with NO SET TIME of when that will be?
The next day you go back there for lunch, do you walk in and say “HEY I couldn’t get lunch here yesterday cause of you idiots….give me a COOKIE!”

I really hope the OP didn’t sit at their computer the entire time waiting for the game to be back up, I’ve got 29.6k ap so I’ve played a lot…and still found other things to do in the meantime, the game doesn’t have to be the ONLY thing you try to do for 8.5 hours.

That actually sounds like a very realistic comparison to what happened, more or less. Let’s just hope that, like the restaurant analogy, people are not driven away from GW2 after this.
