I just lost the opportunity to play after work, that’s all. But this morning I logged in and completed the PvE Dailies in 15 minutes before going off to work, so it all worked out in the end. Instead I spent yesterday evening watching some Star Trek: Voyager episodes, chatting on Facebook, and watched a movie. So not bad down time in my opinion.
However, I understand many people have lost valuable things with the roll-back, so I sympathize with all of you.
Entitled QQ rant
#Millennials
I was born in 1989, so technically I am a “millenial”, and I do not feel entitled to anything so superficial. Be careful of generalizations you make about an entire generation. (But believe me, there are “millenials” out there that do drive me crazy and make me embarrassed to be considered one of them.)
Thank-you, ANet folks, for keeping us updated on this! Sure, I didn’t get to play at all yesterday after work, but I was able to log in this morning and completed the PvE Dailies in 15 minutes before rushing off to work, so it all worked out in the end. I am glad that I play in the evenings on week days, as that means I wasn’t affected by this bug beyond not being able to play for a day while the issue was fixed. This is the first big server closure to occur in all the time I’ve played this game, so I can’t complain.
Update: The game is still doing this for me on my laptop but, again, only in the major cities. I haven’t noticed it in any other maps, or if it does happen at all, it’s only a few seconds and that’s it. Even when my game graphics are all the way down it still occurs in the cities.
All I know is that I have Windows 10, 64-bit, and play in windowed mode. I’m pretty sure I have my laptop set to defrag on its own once a month in the middle of the night.
The fact that other people are having this same issue after the last big patch, to me, points to something within the game itself doing something. But I am certain it will go away on its own.
There’s no obligation to do the story, but if it helps, keep in mind that going to the bottom of the crater will give you an instanced section of story, and the instanced part after that is the last part, so you’re not exactly committing to a huge long slog if you just drop down and enter the green star. Also the story is pretty fun and immersive (other than one conversation that realistically wouldn’t happen in combat; I think it bugged that way and they decided to keep it, per Guild Chat).
And you’ll get plenty of unbound magic etc for doing it!
Well that is good to hear that I’m not too far from finishing the episode. Though, when I did venture into the crater, I couldn’t get to “the bottom” – I saw no further entrances. Guess I’ll have to look again when I have the time to sit myself down and commit to instanced play and no doubt several boss fights.
Has anyone here forgotten that there is a region in Blazeridge Steppes called “Dragon Watch”? I was just reminded of it the other day when I ran in there on another toon.
I seem to recall getting that MP behind the poison (I stand corrected on my earlier comment about there being no poison in VB, there is that one tiny patch) by hopping around the edges, or gliding down from somewhere. I’m pretty sure I got it before I got poison mastery.
If nothing else you could teleport to a friend who is standing on the mastery point, I think.
I think the one time I attempted it, the mushrooms murdered me. The poison sure didn’t help matters.
I’ve been running a P/P and Flamethrower Scrapper for quite a long while now because it seems to give me the most survivability. And whenever I decide to try using the hammer again, I get murdered in HoT maps by mobs, even when I change my build to try to get the most damage out of the hammer. But in the end, my P/P/Flamethrower build ends up doing the most damage and therefore keeping me alive longer.
This situation completely confounds me. I really thought that the hammer, the weapon exclusive to the Elite Spec, would be the better choice for damage, but instead it puts me at a severe disadvantage both offensively and defensively. With P/P, I wear Carrion armor (sorry, I have no Ascended armor and may never obtain it) and use Firearms, Alchemy, and Scrapper. When trying out the hammer, I switch to Bezerker armor since there isn’t much condition damage to expect from that weapon.
So I wonder if I’m just doing something wrong. I’ve looked at other threads here asking for advice for hammer damage builds, and therefore tried out some of the builds that people suggested, but they all didn’t work for me. Very odd. I guess I also am very picky when it comes to the 6-9 skill slots I prefer. Been using Medic Gyro, Flamethrower, Bulwark Gyro, the purple elixir, and Supply Drop (only use that in boss fights or big group events. The other elite specs just haven’t been useful or practical for my playstyle).
…That Auric Basin, the second map you go through in HoT, is easier to complete (all PoIs, WPs, HPs, and Vistas) than Verdant Brink, the first map. I was able to get into an HP train in AB so that really helped, but the rest of the map items weren’t too difficult for me to complete, just took some time and maneuvering. VB, however, I am still struggling with to this day. The upper canopy really makes it difficult to fully complete, as it isn’t necessarily accessible all the time. And there are way more updraft gliding bits that are essential to reaching everything. Not to mention the places flooded with poison (I still need to earn Itzel Poison Mastery).
Does anyone else find this ironic? Assuming that you also find AB easier than VB. Otherwise, what do you think of VB vs AB, if your experience is different?
I completely agree with you and am in the exact same situation. The one MP in the poison area – I followed the Dulfy video to try to get it but keep dying anyway. And when I finally was able to get to the triple Mordrem boss, no one seems to do it anymore.
I also am really wanting to get into that little corner of the map. Sure, MPs are not needed to finish the maps, but it nevertheless is still an obstacle blocked by a Mastery. I found far fewer obstacles in AB, even though AB has Masteries such as Nuhoch Wallows that are important for finishing that map. But somehow I got Wallows without too much difficulty. Don’t remember how I did it. But I still don’t have Itzel Poison, and as my interest in playing HoT/LWS3 stuff dwindles, the less likely it’s getting that I will earn it anytime soon.
Everyone has favorites among the maps. In some ways, Dragon’s Stand is the easiest, since there’s time to complete it after finishing the meta.
What I wish is that ANet had included a transition zone, between Silverwastes and VB, without a meta, without important gifts requiring zone completion. That would give people a chance to figure out how to get around the different levels, learn gliding without also worrying about dealing with the new foes.
Put another way, I don’t think that VB is ‘hard’ so much as it is the zone that requires learning the most new techniques to navigate.
Yeah, this is more or less what I was trying to get at. It seems to require a lot of things to get absolutely everything. Even Silverwastes, which comes right before VB, doesn’t require the same amount of “tricks” to explore as VB does. I think my general complaint about HoT is that there wasn’t much of a good transition between core Tyria and HoT. Sure, HoT gets less frustrating with time and practice, but it still was jarring for a long time in the beginning.
To finish LWS3 chapter/part/episode 1, that is. My next objective is to “go to the bottom of the crater”, but I just can’t seem to make myself continue it. I mainly just log into this one toon (my highest level) to complete the Dailies, then I switch back to a lower level toon since I find doing map completion and Personal Story more relaxing. And the higher level my toons get, the more bored I become with them for some reason. Hell, it took me many months to finally push myself to finish HoT’s story, which I only completed last month. Maybe the story and maps just aren’t interesting me as much. I don’t know. I just find it so much more enjoyable to play my non-80 toons. Sometimes I make a new toon just for the fun of it, because it’s more relaxing at that stage. I also feel like doing nothing but relaxing once I get home from work, so that is part of the reason why I can’t make myself focus on HoT/LW these days – they do the opposite for me, not very relaxing.
Has anyone else felt this way? I just worry that I’m going to procrastinate so much that the next episode will be released before I finish the first one.
I find VB far easier. There aren’t any poison areas. I can get to anywhere in the canopy at any time thanks to updrafts (start at Faren’s and go up past golem hp to start) and advanced gliding. No section of the map is locked behind an event — in AB you cannot enter the city during Octovine or get up to the northern ledge poi unless the north tower events are completed. The only two hp I cannot solo are the vampire/guano and the frogs at Treacherous Path, but a callout in Map generally gets a few people there quickly enough.
I used VB to complete for each of the nine elite weapons and have completed it a few times since just helping others do so. I have completed the other maps at most twice each.
I’m not saying AB is ultra hard in comparison, though. It’s just not as guaranteed you can do it at any time that you want regardless of meta status.
The other day I had gone to some parts I hadn’t been to in VB by gliding from Faren’s, but it was incredibly difficult/obnoxious for me. Sometimes I’d miss an updraft, or not be able to see where I was supposed to go next to reach a Vista or other point of interest. I guess I just find VB far more complicated than it should be, being the first map of HoT that every HoT player encounters. AB has far less vertical maneuvering/less gliding. I guess my luck with accessing Tarir was good every time I went into AB in the afternoon.

Over the last few days, every time I log in for the first time on a given day, the environment takes a long time to load, even when my graphics are set at their lowest setting possible. I will log in and see some distant background objects and every NPC and a handful of other players, but the ground and the rest of the environment will slowly, piece-by-piece, load in. I also experienced moments of lag/stutter/whatever you want to call it yesterday 8/11/16. I wonder if any of this is related to recent patches, because normally my laptop (sorry, can’t give specs as I am not at home, and I wouldn’t know where to look to find that kind of information) doesn’t do these types of things to that extreme.
The environment loading issues so far have only happened whenever I log in for the first time each day, not necessarily when I WP to a new zone.
Provide some kind of back button in the Dungeon Vendor in LA. It’s tedious having to restart the conversation each time to get into each category of dungeon armour or weapon. Better yet, just have all the different armours/weapons available as tabs in the vendor’s list, as you do with the laurel vendor and all his/her items.
I second this! Every time I make a new toon, I always eventually run over to that vendor to see how the respective weight of dungeon armor would look on that specific toon, just in case I want to work towards obtaining the skins. But it is very annoying to have to start all over again, as you said.
My new suggestion: I do not know if this counts as “QoL”, but I would love for backpacks to be hidden when I set my graphics down to the lowest possible settings. The fact that they still show might affect performance, but I cannot prove that as there’s no way to show how it would run if all special backpacks were “hidden”.
While I agree with many of your points, OP, I do not believe that it is a good enough reason to uninstall the game. After all, you can choose to completely ignore the HoT maps/content and just enjoy yourself with the core Tyria stuff (or PvP or WvW, whatever floats your boat). It’s not mandatory, in my opinion.
I think it just depends on what time of day you go into one of the maps. I play after work (starting 6pm PST), and I never have trouble finding an active map. There’s usually some sort of zerg going on, particularly in Auric Basin.
I love when my character discovers 3 empyreal fragments and says “now that’s a find!”
Is it, commander? Is it a find?
/facepalm
You can mute your character’s dialogue, it’s a setting in audio options.
But, sadly we cannot do anything about NPCs…
If they do introduce a new race (and I hope they will), I’m 90% certain that it will be the Tengu. They were originally slated to be the 6th playable race at launch, but got cut due to lack of time. They already have a capital city of their own, have a distinct and unique model and culture (one reason why I don’t think Kodan would be a good idea is that they’re too similar thematically to the Norn, both of them being big, physically powerful arctic-dwelling beings), and unlike some of the other races, they presumably have the numbers and the resources to contribute to a global fight against the Elder Dragons and other world-spanning threats.
As for the Personal Story, I suspect a 6th race would have its own Personal Story, tied to a big trip to Cantha or Elona that all the races can play through. Think of it as something similar to Factions or Nightfall, where new characters (in this case the new race) gets to play some early missions before starting the level 80 content, which is also where all existing characters join in.
That would just make me so happy. As I never played GW1 (I played WoW in those days), I have been desiring to play in Cantha and Elona. And I’ve always wanted a playable avian race in an RPG, but no one has ever made any. Elder Scrolls has Khajiit (feline) and Argonian (reptilian), and GW2 has Charr (feline). Makes me sad!
On my current Norn Ranger, I have a raven named “Muninn” and a wolf named “Fenrir”. Just decided that picking names of actual Old Norse creatures would be easiest, especially since my Norn has a Norse name (Valka Hrafnageir).
On other toons, I once named a lynx “Lynk”, had a fern hound “Nahele”, ice drake “Jormag”, the electric-spitting drake “Blitzilla”, red moa “Erif”, and many others.
I would really like a Celestial Dye, if anything. (Everything else I would want is either soulbound armor/weapons, or a Ranger pet in HoT. :P )
Wonder if it’s related to Tuesday’s patch adding Bloodstone shards “scattered across Tyria”? I still have yet to see one of these “ghosts”, though. Maybe on the weekend when I am playing more.
Researcher. Flipping. Jonga,.
Yeah…if anything, I wish that the NPC dialogue, even if it’s directed at you, would not pop up all the time there… Only things that are part of the living story, to act like subtitles. But that kind of dialogue right there? Nope. Distracting and puts conversation from actual players get pushed out of sight before you can read it.
This is happening all over Tyria, in instances, in guild halls, in open world since Tuesdays patch
Don’t know if it’s related, but the wiki has this mentioned in Tuesday’s patch: “Bloodstone slivers have scattered across Tyria.”
WELL, I am always open to speculation and wishful thinking…So here is my opinion.
You all are right about it being a very low possibility of a new race, what with the new voice acting, implementing new lore, creating their armor or even their cultural armor, there is just alottttttt of work into implementing a new race into an already and MASSIVE existing world. HOWEVER….If for whatever reason they did add a new race, I have always thought it would be amazing to play as Kodan….They look fierce but they can be very peacefull and they are very proud for talking polar bears lol Another thing is that their “base charactor model” already exists as npc’s so that would help knock down the level of work required to actually implement this new playable race. But can you imagine playing as one of those proud, but dangerous beasts??? Make a Guardian Kodan and just take on the world…That would be amazing.
Or what about a Kodan Ranger using a Juvenile Polar Bear?? XD
Hypothetically, I would wish that, if Kodan (and Tengu) were to be made playable, there would be at least enough sexual dimorphism between genders so that other players can tell the difference as you run around. As slight as the differences are with Asura and Charr, I can still tell which is which as long as they aren’t buried in armor. As it is now, however, Kodan look exactly the same, and I’ve never heard of a female Tengu in-game before.
By Ogden’s hammer! What savings!
I miss this, too.
WELL THEN DO I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU! Here you go~
Oh my goodness! I completely forgot about that guy! His line really just disappeared from the game, or something?
(I also am trying not to laugh out loud her at work while I listen to this on my headphones XD)
I would definitely like to see collection items, keys, and currencies be automatically deposited into a “wallet” of sorts like other such things are already, as it hogs up so much inventory space. Here is my thread. Hopefully it can get merged into this one! https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Currencies-keys-collections/first#post6283017
I have 11 character slots so far and two 80s (one of which has gotten to LWS3 content). The remaining 9 characters range from level 10 to 55. So switching between each toon on a different day, depending on my mood (each is a different class) helps keep me interested in the game. So perhaps you could try to make a new toon, try a new class or playstyle?
Somehow, I doubt that a new race will be added (any time soon), and I realize the community is split on the topic. However, I personally would love to be able to play as a Tengu, since I love avian races in fiction. I also am interested in their culture, but don’t know much. For armor, they essentially could use the template of Charr armor since their body postures are similar and both have tails.
I just want to be an avian creature in a video game more once…
Cats and other animals are done to death as playable characters.
I wish that those items, and more, would not be stuck in my inventory or bank. It would be so helpful if items for collections would automatically go “into” the collection (except for weapons and other things that you could equip); keys had a “key ring”, so to speak, to automatically be deposited into; and so forth. HoT/LWS3 has added a lot of extraneous (but not unuseful) items that just end up clogging my inventory, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s grown frustrated about this. I just recently increased my main toon’s inventory to 100 slots by crafting bags and I just can feel that it will feel clogged again eventually. It’s also the fact that I can’t always tell, even when going into a wiki, how vital an item is for me, personally, so I end up leaving it and not selling or destroying it, just to e safe.
Thoughts on this?
I can’t comment on this specific laptop (I also am not a techy person at all, so that just looks like random numbers and words/letters to me :P ), but I will say that laptops in general seem fully capable of playing GW2. Sure, I can’t necessarily play the game on high graphics otherwise it lags, and overheats my laptop making it shut down, but it works. I actually got my current laptop years ago with the sole intent of being able to play GW2 (but not break the bank).
I have a love/hate relationship with the system. I’m content with it, but I do feel you on the whole ‘guild community’ thing.
Then again, Guild Community is just that, a community. Your guild should have a website, forums, a ventrilo or mumble or teamspeak; etc.
No one ever reads guild chat anyway.
I do! I’ve always disliked having my voice heard in video games, speaking out loud when I’m not the only person in the apartment. That’s how it was for me in Halo and WoW. Then again, I am a casual PvE’r, so I mostly use my guild as a place to chat with people between map completions and so forth, and a place to ask for assistance. I can see how Teamspeak and such is useful for doing WvW and PvP, though, I just don’t think I’d ever use it due to my peculiarities.
On-topic, I have two guilds right now, one of which was the first one I joined. But when that guild began to get super intense, I decided to look for a far more casual, smaller guild. And that second one is what I represent, as I find it enjoyable to “be in their company”, so to speak.
“Fluff” maps are a waste of time and resources. There are a plethora of other important things to do.
Sorry, I have to disagree. They bring much to the table.
Even on “fluff” maps there are events and enemies, but they are not as saturated.
As mentioned before, GW1 had many maps where the only thing there was an elite skill to capture, but because the map was not overwhelmed with enemies and events, you were able to enjoy the beauty of the map and explore things you may never see in a map like Tangled Depths or Verdant Brink.
I can see the beauty and artistry in the HoT maps, but have never been able to enjoy exploring and looking at the maps because it is a constant battle.
Fluff maps are not a waste of resources, they add to the aesthetics and exploration of the game.
This. Sure, I finally completed Auric Basin (all Vistas, HPs, POIs, and WPs), but I couldn’t bring myself to truly “look” at it. It doesn’t help that I tend to keep my graphics low so my laptop doesn’t overwork itself, so therefore I can’t see all the details and such that the creators meant to be seen. So beautiful areas don’t look nearly as beautiful as they really are. :/
Out of all the Gw1 Campains and the expansion my particular fav are the Elona maps in Nightfall also Catha’s Shing Jae Island & the Jade sea,
so definatly need more gw1 enviroments to explore in Gw2 without drowning in enemys would be greatnostalgiagasm
Yes! Your post just brought me back to roaming the hills (and caves) around Shing Jea. The ambient music, how immersive it was… the soft lighting and how emotive the whole place was.
I think one of the reasons why this sort of “stop and smell the roses” sort of gameplay isn’t so huge in GW2 is because when exploring you have very defined points to run to. In GW1 you had to unfog the map to explore, meaning that to some extent you could run wherever you wanted to whilst exploring.
The mini-map in GW2 is so crucial to many aspects of game-play that it detracts from the environment around you. I guess you could liken it to walking/driving around glued to a cellphone or satnav? When I’m running from one place to another, I’m probably looking at the mini-map half of the time. I think it would be really cool to play without it (I think WoodenPotatoes did?) just to see how reliant I am on it, and what the game would feel like without it.
Agreed! I find myself running around with the intent to get to x WP or y POI or z Vista, not truly exploring, just going on autopilot (especially the more toons I make of the same race). Even WoW had a sort of “unfogging” type of exploration deal, where instead of Vistas and POIs you had villages, zones, etc. whose names would pop up on your screen and your map would begin to take shape. Sure, GW2 does the exact same thing, but I feel the exploration is driven more about getting the POIs and Vistas and such.
Are you sure this isn’t simply a case of Soule music?
What is “Soule music”, may I ask?
Seeing as how picking names for characters in video games is one of the most stress-inducing, aggravating decisions I can ever make in a video game…yes, I put a lot of thought into them! Most of the time nowadays I try really hard to not only name my toons, but also base them appearance-wise off of original characters from original stories of mine. Markus Emmerich and Mistress Akujo are two examples. But I also try to pick names that work well for the specific race or class. I tend to give my Sylvari Hawaiian words for names, to match the tropical vibe I try to give them. And I recently gave a Norn Ranger an Old Norse name (Valka Hrafnageir (“raven spear”)). For every one of my toons, names are a big commitment, and sometimes I delete and remake a character in order for the name, race, class, and appearance combination to be perfect, without spending $ on gems.
I struggle with this with every video game I own where you have power over a character’s name!
I thought I was going crazy when I heard this, but now I am 100% certain that one of the tunes in Hoelbrak sounds almost exactly like the theme song of the Ronso in Final Fantasy X. I’m sure it’s all a coincidence, but I’d like to hear your thoughts on the similarities.
Compare…
and
Servants of the Mountain from FFX
What makes it seem like even more of a crazy coincidence is that both Norn and Ronso live in snowy mountain environments, and are quite tall-statured. I am not making accusations (the two games are quite a number of years apart from each other), I just think it is very interesting!
To Paulytnz, I don’t think there is anything wrong with porting in and first asking if any events are active. After all, I may go into the map with the intention of doing the daily, but literally have no idea what is going on where/when. So therefore, I need to ask, to get me pointed in the right direction, otherwise I’ll be wandering around aimlessly. The people who do list off events are obviously willing to let people know. I mostly ask “Events?” when I have WP’d in blind. Events get done so fast when it’s a Daily, you never know what will be next.
But yes, people should at least say thank-you for being directed towards an event. But if people don’t ask if an event is going on or not, they may never know. So that’s not he problem.
The worst offenders are the ones who gather together and kill a boss without giving other people time to arrive. That one frustrates me the most, but I don’t get angry or petty over it.
Yeah, when a map is jam-packed with mobs, it kind of kills my desire to actually explore. I end up just taking shortcuts and hugging the outside edges of paths so I don’t have to be forced to fight. I know I’ve mentioned this elsewhere, but it’s something I also miss from World of Warcraft. I miss the variety of environments, especially DESERTS. Just running across the sands without too many obstacles, driven by a desire to find out what is on the other side of the flats.
That’s my thought: GW2 needs a greater variety of environments to spur on exploration, because as it is now, each “zone” is just the same environemtns but with increasing levels of complexity and frustration (example: Going from Wayfarer Foothills north to Forstgorge Sound, or south to Dredgehaunt cliffs. Not nearly as much variety between Shiverpeak maps as I would like to see). We either get temperate zone (Kryta), jungle-ish zone (Maguuma), snow + mountains (Shiverpeaks), brown land (Ascalon), crazier jungle (Heart of Maguuma), rocks and more rocks (Maguuma Wastes), or dead zone (Orr).
When I saw this topic title here in the LW forum, my first thought was about how LWS3 seems to heavily rely upon material from GW1, which not everyone (me included) may not have even played. Example: You get the chance to ask about Caudecus and the White Mantle when you are in Rata Novus, but once you get to Bloodstone Fen, somehow your toon immediately knows everything about Bloodstones, which were never mentioned once in all of GW2, as far as I know. So there is a disconnect between the lore from GW1 and LWS3. So in that regard, I could say that your topic of “casual” and “hardcore” players still is true (“hardcore” in this sense would be players who have played GW1 and delved into all the lore and EU stuff). Though, I hate to attach labels to people…
Every single one of them was a chore. I was doing the shooting gallery the other day to get the bronzer achieve and mobs started attacking me WHILE I’m doing the adventure. How can this be a thing? It’s like they deliberately went out of their way to kitten people off.
Mobs attack you WHILE you’re trying to do the adventure?! That’s crap.
Yeah, because the Adventure is located within the “real” world (not instanced or in a city), so any enemies can waltz right in if they wish. I wish that all Adventures could be held in “walled off” areas of the maps so enemies don’t interfere.
Everyone: They are referring to World of Warcraft’s most recent expansion.
OP: If you are going to reference another MMO’s expansion, please give more information as to what game you are referring to, as not everyone who plays GW2 is “in the know” about other MMOs.
As much as I have great memories from the good-old-days of WoW, I probably will never return due to not having the free time to justify paying subscription fees. I still have a starter edition (you are capped at level 20) if I ever want to mess around in WoW again, though. GW2, while not perfect, is still the best MMO for me right now due to how easy it is to play, and how I can waste hours just doing PvE stuff. =)
I can’t explain it, but it certainly was the least horrible of the choices we got to vote for. They at least could have at least removed the apostrophe.
Salvage pit was so extremely easy I didn’t even undertanded when it ended. All the others have different grades of difficulty, more or less possible to do, but none is beatable the first time without any effort like salvage pit.
There is clearly an enormous problem in the difficulty balance of these things. Also, I don’t understand why aren’t they part of the normal activities of the map.
Yep, so far Salvage Pit is the easiest of the Adventures I’ve played. Once I finally was able to even access the shooting range one (blanking out on its name), I quickly found it to be rather easy, BUT difficult to get past Bronze. And the one in Tarir where you collect those orbs via updrafts isn’t too bad, either.
All the rest I’ve tried (I haven’t found or done all of them) are incredible levels of frustration.
Just the other day I was playing in Snowden Drifts and the Svanir Champion (not literal “champion”, he was a Veteran) event was going on at Owl’s Abattoir. Suddenly, when the enemy’s health was less than half, someone told everyone to stop attacking him. I did and asked him “Why?”, but the others kept attacking and he was dead in a few seconds. Then the individual, who wanted something for Nevermore from the failure, swore up a storm and even went so far as to accuse me of killing the enemy, even though I had stopped attacking for him. But he called me a “kitten” and ran off.
I agree! It’s been like this ever since the first Living World season. I understand that if they kept it like it was in the Personal Story, it would mean some more animating, or whatever. But I would greatly prefer the PS style, so I could skip over dialogue I’ve heard before.
I am having this same issue none of the things I do in the new content are making this bar progress…it is very frustrating!
Have you unlocked Masteries in the first place? Have you selected Gliding Mastery as the track you wish to work on?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery#Mastery_track
Good luck.
One of their issues may also be that, unless you are doing Meta events in the HoT maps, most XP you gain will not make any dent in the bar, so it sometimes feels like nothing is being gained. I’ll do world bosses and get practically nothing (I wish XP would scale at that point, honestly).
Well you wouldn’t get anything from the world bosses for the hot masteries so no wonder it dont give any dent
I was just giving an example. The core Tyria world bosses still give barely any noticeable XP towards my core Tyria Mastery bar.
Agreed! We may only have three specialization slots per build, but it can still be annoying to manually change it up for a specific situation.
Why lies? I remember my character saying that she died killed by a powerful Winetooth. That’s exactly what happened, so no lies there.
My toon explicitly stated somewhere in that chapter that it was in battle. It may have been during a conversation with another NPC (I talked to as many of them as I was able).
What is your character’s race? I’m pretty sure that has an effect. I know my asura talked about the Eternal Alchemy in the final speech, which I don’t see the other races doing.
Human male.
I just started Season 3 and logged out after my toon had crashed in Bloodstone Fen. Now I learn that there is a new Mastery exclusively for this Living Story, so of course I will want to work on Mastering it as soon as possible (I hear it is necessary for some boss fights). However, I also have been hearing people mentioning lots of glider usage in this new map. Therefore, can anyone tell me which HoT Masteries are either suggested or mandatory to successfully navigate the new map/play Episode 1?
In terms of gliding, I only unlocked Basic Gliding and Updrafts since those were the only ones that were absolutely needed to play the HoT story.
EDIT: I also have Bouncing Mushrooms and Speed Mushrooms.
Thanks!
