I didn’t know there even was this recipe! I do want that tonic, though. (I thought the only way to get that tonic was in the MF with a griffon frame and such)
google says you’re no the only one to have that problem.

it could be it doesn’t come with something in the AR slot? might have to add it? maybe infusing the item just adds the slot now.

they clearly said that in the event of a tie, whoever got to that fractal level first would be higher on the leaderboard.
I have said previously that the leaderboard as described is essentially worthless because of the ‘everyone in the top 500 is at level 50’ problem, but a mod didn’t like it.
The only leaderboard I could imagine working for fractals would be how long to complete which fractal – speed runs.

since it’ll be ranked by who completes it first, I would of expected that it would fill in as people got to 50. I have yet to hear of an eta.

agreed. all areas of the game should have a chance of giving all types and grades of items. different items, for sure, but all items. (same ascended stats but different skins from fotm / wvw / pvp / pve / etc)

on a related note, I think they decreased the Dark Matter drop rate.
607 exotic armors salvaged and only around 270 Dark Matter obtained.
I never paid close attention to that, but it always seemed like it was closer to 1:1 before yesterday

MSK gives 0.4235 insignia/inscription per exotic that can drop it.
BLSK gives 0.6121 insignia/inscription per exotic that can drop it.
I’ve tested this with 425 and 593 exotics, respectively, on both kits before todays patch, and confirmed that the numbers are close enough to those to be considered the same for insignia as inscriptions. (salvaged 502 exotic armors last night and got 0.4183 insignia per exotic with MSK)
I have yet to find a single non-crafted armor that should give an insignia that doesn’t (whereas not all exotic weapons gave inscriptions when they should of)

nyaonyao: crafted armors do not give insignia, regardless of their stats. same as weapons and inscriptions.
on the contrary, 20 would of been a very good sample size to determine if it were possible or not. If they could give insignia but didn’t after 20, the odds of that happening are 1 in 168,114,203

my brain wasn’t with it yesterday. but the idea was still the same.
anyways, their patch notes were wrong. they don’t give 40% off for “that same item in any quantity”, they only give 40% off for “that same item in the same quantity as gifted”. it’s 1:1. still not bad and you should keep fighting for your refund, but not what I was hoping for.

I have collected a lot of both in the past months.
but until this patch I had 0 fractal relics and 86 pristine relics. I have like 20 20-slot boxes, and converted the rest to obsidian shards. worst case: don’t need to use karma for them and can convert to gold instead. best case: use both and get legendary sooner.
I now have 0 pristine relics and 86 more obsidian shards

how many years? I can’t remember actually trying to boot from a usb on my G4 tower from 2002, but I never really questioned that I could (I did boot from external HDD). I think flash drives weren’t even big enough to hold a OS at the time…

Having run it for at least an hour this morning, I didn’t see a single breeze. I just barrelled through all of the snowflake jumps (unless waiting for them to spawn) and am usually at around 2.5k-3k health by the time I reach the hard candy platforms.

when I wrote that I hadn’t run the jp this year yet :P
I ran it last night.
I didn’t get hit with it, but I remember that last year there was a breeze that would knock you off when crossing the candy cane bridge (just after going up the blue presents, just before the giant snowballs). And I also remember there being a breeze if you went too far up the side ramp on the right at the left turn where the snowballs are. wasn’t hit by either last night, but I didn’t want to find out :P

but I was about to buy this for the griffin form!

I buy Gem Cards all the time and they’re never taxed. The purchase is always exactly $25.

you should offer to have people send you money, buy gem cards, then send them to them and all they pay is postage and a small tip.

fractal relics can be turned into SP or obsidian shards, that’s what I’m going to do with my saved pristine relics.

oh yeah, the other gems. well, for starters: Chrysocola has like 5 rare items that give it while all the others have 1-3. also, the other ones come from places where people are less likely to go, so there are less of them and the price is higher, so less likely to be salvaged.

three mini 3-pack for 800 gems = 2400 gems
gift 1 mini 3-pack for 800 gems + three mini 3-pack for 480 = 2240 gems
both result in the same number of minis for you, plus you get to give more to your friends.

I wish. I just bought and spent 2400 gems and now I wish I had just bought them and waited.

1000 is useful. but when I go over 250, I tend to go over by 2000+, not 750.
I’ll get it, but there will still be plenty of times 1000 won’t be enough.

there are several rare items that give this when salvaged. I know I make lots of gold buying, salvaging, selling these. I’m sure others do too (Risen Spineguard is one of them)

they will go up as people buy them to craft ascended. give it time.

are the bags sellable? useful, for sure, but I’m not sure how you get gold out of those.

you couldn’t get inscriptions from crafted weapons, so I’m guessing you can’t get insignias from crafted armors. that would lead to a loop that you could max your armor crafting for much less cost.

5 more runs for aetherblade fractal
5 more runs for thaumanova reactor
30 more runs for molten facility

yes, you can absolutely play GW2 off a USB stick with windows OS on it
trouble is that USB has slower transfer rates than hard drives. HDD is ~100 MB/s, USB 3.0 is at most 625 MB/s. However, most flash drives are incredibly slow (like 5-10 MB/s). There exists flash drives that can transfer 100+MB/s, but they are more expensive and less common (most flash drive manufacturers don’t even state their transfer rates)
All that means, however, is that loading screens (between WP / zones / instances) may take longer.

what i hated about the change to clock tower was i couldnt use my passive speed boost. i hate doing JP’s without some form of speed boost it makes me miss-time my jumps alot

oh god. I just realized what would make this JP a 10/10. some snowflakes gives you a 1s boon or condition: swiftness or chill. totally random. one second you’re flying through the air, next you’re at a dead stop.

there are exactly zero instances of items that ended up being harmful to salvage. every single time there has been “should this be salvageable?” and they made it salvageable, it’s not been a disaster, but rather a good thing. what is to think about? at worst, everyone gets 10 deldrimor ingots and the price drops by 1g for 2 weeks before going back up.
The longer they wait, the more economic upheaval from any change there will be.

I’m having a funny mental picture of you duct-taping her right hand to the mouse and left wrist to the desk near the wasd keys.
The best might be to show her where to change the settings, then let her play as she wants. maybe have one sit-down with: what do you want to do to go forward? ok, let’s set that key, now turn left? k, now right? etc. If you try too hard to have her play as you do, it will ruin the game. best to have her work out for herself what is best.
btw: ESDF is a bit better than WASD imho (more keys within range). also, backpeddle isn’t exactly required – it’s far quicker to turn sideways and strafe (the only movement keys I have are D for forward, S/F for strafe)

if mesmer F1-F4 tickles, then you are playing a style you don’t want to be playing.
adjust your build. My mesmer is summoning tons of illusions and shattering them all throughout encounters. F1 + F2 accounts for at least half of the damage I deal, F3 to prevent enemies from healing or smash hits, F4 to be invulnerable when rezing someone or taking smash hits.
That is not the only play style for mesmers. Since you’re not so fond of them, don’t use them. summon some illusions and don’t shatter them. They will take damage and deal some additional damage, but put your focus on other skills and traits.

I played ranger before I played mesmer. ranger F1-F4 was barely use. I used F4 the most (once an hour or so when my pet died), followed closely by F3 when I didn’t want to be in combat. F1 will auto when you attack, F2 is so weak it’s barely worth taking the time to do it. Basically, if you use F1-F4 very little as a mesmer, know that you’ll use it even less as a ranger.

you should at least try a ranger, get to level 40 or so while trying every weapon. cycle through the weapons more than once with different trait builds; see how you like it.

mouse was hard for me when I started
This was my first MMO, but I had played other games. When I started GW2, I tried desperately to come up with a scheme to only use the keyboard, because that is how I was used to playing FPS games. But there really is no substitute. You need to be able to cast aoe skills, mouse turns much faster and more accurately than keys (my belief is everyone who has a hard time at JP don’t use a mouse).
It took me like 3 days of trying a few different keyboard bindings before I gave in and resolved to use a mouse. Never looked back; it’s awesome.
For me, I put the primary attack (skill 1) and dodge on mouse button #3 and #4, making them REALLY easy to use while doing everything else with the left hand: moving, all other skills, etc.

into ascended materials or fractal relics – yes I want this. same for other ascended items (amulets, back pieces, weapons, armor)

if you only want to sell them, you have only 2 options:
– salvage for ectos / socket / materials / inscription
– throw in the mystic forge for a random exotic (assuming you’re throwing exotics in there). this exotic will be tradable, and possibly a precursor

I have never been banned or warned by anet or w/e about exploits. however, I was here during when the snowflake exploit was around (didn’t know about it until it was gone).
exploits like that are only ever labeled ‘exploit’ after the fact at the time, everyone uses the same arguments here: “it’s likely intended”, “it’s in the game, I should get to use it”, “how else are we supposed to make money?”, “it’s probably their way of decreasing mithril supply.” and there are never any announcements about it until after the fact.
It sucks, but you really need to be careful about over-using things that are obviously bugs.
