Mystic’s Gold Profiting Guide

My guess is they may be rethinking the way the leaderboard works based on the negative feedback received on the “first come first serve” approach
my thoughts exactly. But I can see why mods don’t like this hypothesis.
wintersday JP was FAR easier than clock tower, and other players just didn’t get in your way. I preferred seeing other people fall to their death.
I would love a spectator mode. see other people do the jumping puzzle and such.
I’m in the same boat – need molten furnace fractal.
sucks that it can only be the 2nd fractal.
wanna form a party tonight and just keep doing 1st fractal and remake if 2nd is not molten furnace? (I’ll be on at about 7:00 pm game time)
I’ll double-check when I get home, but I’m pretty sure the Sword I got post-patch was a weapon and not a skin. I didn’t pay close attention to it, but I’m pretty sure it said nothing about double-click to apply to another weapon, which all the skins I’ve seen say.
edit: sorry, my bad. though from the screenshots you can see why I would think that (the tooltip looks nothing like previous skin tooltips) Greatsword is pre-patch, Sword is post-patch

boot camp with windows will give you like 10% more fps due to cider.
it can help a bit on weaker systems
The main problem, however, is that GW2 is simply a system-intensive game.
I really should of paid more attention, but this is aprox what I got:
Silver, 6th place:
~4 greens
1 exotic (The Ugly Stick)
5 levels
5 SP
mini dolyak
100 dragonite
100 empyreal
500 luck
There should be different ways to get different gear.
like how you can only get Final Rest from the Shadow Behemoth
However, Final Rest isn’t the only level 80 exotic staff – there are other ways to get other staffs with the same stats and different looks
Similarly, there should be different ways to get difference ascended items with the same stats and probably different looks.
They kinda failed at that golden strategy by having exactly 1 way to get each type of ascended item, and every type has a different way (with some exceptions of course). Hopefully when they finally finish ascended you’ll be able to get armor from fractals, rings from mystic forge, back pieces from crafting, etc.
at current prices, you’d have to use the permanent kit more than 150 times to make it worth it compared to single-use kits.
just sayin’
I get more cores and lodestones from fractals than from cof. like 1-4 per run compared to 1 every 20 runs.
any items above white in rarity are “unnecessary”
However, I do believe ascended should not have any time-gated bs, and they should be TP-able (same as legendaries are)
so it looks like the difference between gold, silver, bronze and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th is how many greens, how many SP, how many levels, and how many ascended mats?
dredge was the fractal my guild farmed for a little while.
in short:
kept rolling until dredge level 20 or so
get through doors quickly
kill mob of dredge
open door to the drilling machine quickly
kill champ and the dredge that spawn
leave and repeat
we would each get like 30 heavy miner’s bags in 15 so minutes, plus a few other items that were random. could either sell them for 4.4s or open for equivalent materials.
gave about 5g/hour just in bags
I thought I’d highlight a funny ranking:
in NA, Blackgate, Fort Aspenwood, and Henge of Denravi maybe of been undefeated with six 1st places
but Ehmry Bay never lost, with six 2nd places!
I find that more impressive (it’s certainly more rare)
because it’s a condition, not a stun. (should you also stop bleeding and burning because you’re vapor?)
it annoys me as well that I can be stunned, then use decoy to break the stun and be invisible, but be locked in place because I’m also immobilized.
one of the recent patches made immobilize like 800% more annoying and 800% more used by npcs. never used to have the problem.
no bans for using this kit, so far.
the snowflake was rng-based too (random chance to get ectos). just the average return was more than the cost to make them.
the only difference between that exploit and this exploit is clearness of intent.
then, there were people that would craft 10,000 snowflake trinkets then salvage them. hard to say they didn’t know they were making a profit.
here, people normally will use these kits to salvage stuff. to prove exploiting intent, they would have to look at everyone’s habits and show that the player didn’t salvage anything before, but now they’re salvaging 10,000 rares a week. they couldn’t ethically ban someone who always uses that kit to salvage 10,000 rares a week and this bug just happened to coincide with their habits.
I say it’s too hard for them to say who should be banned, so they won’t. But this /is/ an exploit.
Personally, I’m not doing anything different. I’ll still use it to salvage blues and greens (I’m actually more annoyed that I now have to deal with minor sigils than glad for the extra income)
(edited by Mystic.5934)
you also can’t go to wvw when guesting (or, actually, I think you can go there, but it goes to your world’s wvw rather than where you guested to)
it would be really interesting to go to another world’s wvw and see how they do things. but then it would be too easy to spy, and my world is already too paranoid as it is.
Can you imagine the PR nightmare that would ensue if they banned players for using an item in game that was bought with real life money from the gem store?
No, they aren’t going to ban anyone over this. They are going to quietly patch it out at some point, but this is the kind of exploit that you can’t take action against players over because doing so would end your business.
They have banned people in the past for buying Black Lion Salvage Kits with $$ and using them to salvage a lot of specific rares (wintersday, the snowflake trinkets). People said ‘wtf thats not cool’ and got over it after a week.
they considered it an exploit because the trinkets could be made for less materials than salvaging it gave.
fast forward to now: these kits are clearly giving more materials than they are intended to give. All it will take for them to call it an exploit is someone salvaging 10,000 rares with it.

try reducing your graphics settings to best performance?
Mine would crash at nearly every engagement, then I reduced the settings and it almost never crashes now.
agreed that crashing when more than 10 players were on the screen makes wvw unplayable. how close did you get to completing the ach? most of them take a long long time. I barely got sentry slayer done in time, and I played wvw like 1-2 hours a day.
the problem with using it as you would normally do is that people have been punished for doing things as they would normally do under the pretense that “you should of recognized the exploit and not used it”:
super-cheap karma items for food crafting – people saw that ingredients were cheaper than what they could sell it for, so they made thousands of them.
salvage snowflake items – salvaged item gave more than it cost
we clearly recognize this exploit: paying 3c for a 61c salvage kit. If someone picked now to get to 300% mf by salvaging masterwork, they would make an extra 224g just in minor sigils, nevermind upgraded materials.
If someone normally salvages thousands of rare items for ectos, using this exploit instead of MSK would save them 5.8g per thousand rares.
That’s the downside to having a we-do-not-draw-lines stance: no one knows what will get them banned, so any little bug makes people fear for their account.
rubs your head
I see a dark halo in your aura. You have done deep deeds indeed. very much death. I see falling golden coins… chests of rares… world event farming! no no no, it’s changed, I also see your friends through you, people you don’t yet know, pick-up groups if you will, I predict you like running dungeons!
also, they don’t price keys for how many tickets they give. they price them for all the other useless stuff you get – boosters, heavy bag of coin, single-use summon-a-merchant, etc.
cheap runes of divinity
- buy exotic armor of divinity, salvage with BLSK. usually can get it for ~10% discount if you’re lucky (keep in mind that BLSK cost ~1g per use)
- buy several thousand major runes for as cheap as you can, throw them in the MF. Sell the superiors that come out (but keep a rune of divinity for yourself). Last time I did this, I started with about 2,400 runes and made a 5g profit after TP tax. Basically, the more you do, the more profit you make; eventually that profit offsets a divinity rune cost and you can keep one you just crafted and have as much gold as when you started.
I’m glad they lad me use excess bloodstone for those toxic potions. I expect similar with these soon. My 36 stacks of dark matter wants somewhere to go.
can convert 250 pristine fractal relics to 1 pristine fractal cob
Mystic Forge 250 pristine fractal cobs, 250 ectos, 250 gifts of ascension, and 250 shards of crystallized mist essence to get a endless fractal tonic
I’ve noticed you can’t kick the player who started the party, but I’ve never not been able to kick anyone else…
I really wish they’d do away with the whole there-is-a-party-leader bs, both with this, and with said party leader d/cing.
from my experience with it:
ecto return is similar to Basic (about 55%)
upgraded material is similar to Basic (about 10%)
socket return is similar to Master (about 75%)
Dust returned from salvaging ectos is similar to Master (about 1.85 dust/ecto), though I never did test Basic kit on ectos
this isn’t the skill lag?
there’ve been many times (particularly when capturing SM) when skills can’t be used, and it’s clear both sides have the same problems. I always attributed it to overloading the server. funny how we never used to get these problems.
it’s also funny how you know huge engagements are going on even if you’re not part of them. Bears are not such pushovers when you can’t cast anything and they can.
level 32 gives 11 relics per fractal (4 fractals total)
level 32 daily chest gives an extra 35 relics
I’m guessing you already did the 31-40 daily before you did that run
would either of these work?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experimental_Teleportation_Gun
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experimental_Rifle
not in a dungeon, so you would be able to use them. (they can’t be used in dungeons or wvw – gerrrrrr)
(like they did with infinite gathering tools, which was brilliant, btw)
what masterworks will be crafted to level them to 500? I think it’s mostly T6 mats, ascended mats, and exotics.
Refining essences of luck or ascended materials.
hehe, I found this out by accident. I am always buying and salvaging masterworks for essences of luck, then I refine and get more mf. took all of like 20 seconds to complete this ach before I knew what happened.
I do level 20-30.
pre-patch: ~600 runs resulted in 2 skins
post-patch: 20 runs resulted in 1 skin
my post-patch rate is 15 times higher than my pre-patch rate
Please just do one of these:
1 – make extra rings worth getting, either by opening them up to the TP or able to salvage. (MF would be useless, as it would only result in different extra rings you don’t need)
2 – tell us to stop collecting them because they will never be worth anything despite seeming like they should. They appear too good to be useless, so people save them because they expect it’s an oversight that they are useless.
the annoying part is that old fractal weapons have no stats, yet are still weapons. they pretty much can’t be used for anything besides a skin, requiring a Tstone.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists
the chest from levels 1-10 can not give you a ring or weapon (but do still give pristine fractal relic and gold and regular relics and etc.)
they shouldn’t merge currencies so much. fractal relics shouldn’t be used in anywhere besides fractals (shouldn’t be able to make ascended weapons using relics)
however, selling pristine fractal relics for regular fractal relics does seem like a good idea (then you can sell those relics for shards or SP or gift of ascension). I’d like to use my pristine relics for that.
try it again! for science!
I doubt you need a multiple of 5 to make it useful. or have there been tests I haven’t seen?
There is a point when more AR does nothing (when AR >= level)
but below that, I’m sure every point in AR helps. like on level 20, 10 AR would block 50% of the agony and 11 AR would block 55%?
it’s not quite as good as master. I did a little test.
it gives less ectos than master (I got 0.53 ectos per rare, compared to 0.9 for master)
returning socket is about 72% chance, which is almost as good as master (80%)
chance of upgraded material seems to be about the same as master, though my sample size was too small to get a good number here.
Another test I did: salvaging an ecto with CFSoM gave 1.85 dust per ecto, which is the same as MSK’s 1.8-1.9. So salvaging dust from ectos is currently the same as MSK! It doesn’t make this process profitable, but it does make it a little less costly (5.5c per luck instead of 6c)
When a friend of mine was brand new, he got a key for his level 10 story, opened a chest, got infinite TP contract, couldn’t sell it at 400g because he couldn’t afford the listing fee for a LONG time.
to get a +20 AR would take 524,288 +1 infusions
hehe. at 24s per +1 infusion, that would take 125,829g12s to make
apparently there is no hard limit on how high it goes. it just becomes impractical really quick.
Mystic Salvage Kit should have a 80% chance of getting the socket, so that is pretty close to almost every time.
I agree with most people here: this many minor sigils is more annoying than preferred.
sure, it is extra coin. but the time required to sell them combined with time used to sell junk in your bags more often is just annoying for how much you get. 16c adds up, but if your bags are full of them, that’s only 16s – you could do a world event and get 30s item + more in the time it takes to sell those. it’s longer to destroy them.
huh. this might of happened to us.
we had 3 lvl 80’s and 2 level 15’s in fractal level 1.
the first fractal the 15’s survived pretty well.
2nd fractal, cliffside, everything was 3 hits or less kill (not just down, but kill) for the 15’s
3rd and 4th fractal, they could take several hits before going down
I’m thinking it’s cliffside, not which fractal #.
you lose your gold when you order them..
this has always been the case when placing buy orders. If you want your gold back, you have to cancel the buy order.
(I’m assuming he wants to get his orders in first, so it’s filled first – hoping no one outbids him)
Science:
40 masterwork armors, all with minor runes
salvaging with Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic
I now have 29 minor runes
so the rate is about 72.5% guess I was a bit off before. Still a long way from the 20% advertised.
My Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic seems to have a 80+% chance of recovering the upgrade. Only tested with masterwork, and I haven’t done any scientific testing yet, but from the couple dozen masterworks I just salvaged I got more than 20 minor sigils.
Science to follow!
it could be a footprint slot, similar to helm and leggings and boot slot in hero panel. or another tab like finishers. more likely it would be “1000 gems for 24 hours of eternity footprint”
