increse max luck

I’m a fan of capless systems the way they work is each level above 300 costs ~double the level below it costs. so 301 requires 60k, 302 requires 120k, etc. very quickly you get unreasonable amounts that works the same as a cap, but there is no technical cap, so luck always has some value. maybe only 25% more than previous level? 37k, 47k, 58k, 73k

blue luck doesn't stack with pre-patch luck?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

that’s my only guess
I had a stack of blue luck (78) before the patch
then I patched today
I salvaged some items
now I have a stack of 13 blue luck as well, when I try to drag them together, they switch places. If I salvage more things, it adds to the 13 stack and not the 78
more peculiar than a problem, but thought I’d bring it up.

oh god this is horrible! I untangled some of it… let me example:
39448 Recipe: Box of Giver’s Gladiator Armor (275) exotic
gives 39412 Box of Giver’s Gladiator Armor (275) 65 exotic
requires 38190 Giver’s Gladiator Chestplate (275) 65 rare

39447 Recipe: Box of Giver’s Splint Armor (200) rare
gives 39411 Box of Giver’s Splint Armor (200) 50 rare
requires 38191 Giver’s Splint Coat (200) 50 masterwork

the motherkitten rarities don’t match! at least the required materials do, but can’t compare item id’s in-game
well, that solves the first 2 out of 47 recipes :P
I’ll work on the rest now

edit: looks like the rest are just swapped and not a series of items
edit: k, done. I also deleted the celestial and nomad box recipes you mentioned. next, I’ll try to error-check all of them by comparing the materials used to make the coat vs. the box. There was one on your list that was accurate as it was: -940.

Distortion in pvp?

Mystic.5934

I don’t pvp often and was just in a match. anyways, I popped Distortion during a hot moment then a moment later got downed. didn’t have any conditions, combat log says:
Warrior hits you for 2,687 using Hammer Swing
Warrior hits you for 2,724 using Hammer Bash
Warrior hits you for 2,009 using Hammer Shock
Warrior hits you for 2,518 using Hammer Swing
so, my question: how did distortion fail?

I’ve always found that comparing crafting rating is easier than item level, but maybe that’s why the levels are off :P
an example of how annoying these box recipes get: there are 3 “Recipe: Box of Berserker’s Barbaric Armor” (fine, master, and rare). but there are only 2 “Berserker’s Barbaric Coat” (fine and master). so I found a rare Berserker’s Gladiator Chestplate that wasn’t part of the “Recipe: Box of Berserker’s Gladiator Armor” to use instead.
then there’s this little bundle of joy

I’ll go through that data and make corrections, thanks. So that pastebin is a list of recipes that are wrong? might take a while… have tennis plans today

TLDR: wrote a program that educatedly guessed
for all the “Recipe: Feast/Pot/Giant/Box/Satchel” recipes, I wrote a script that first retrieved all the recipe sheets, then analyzed the end of it’s name and searched for items it thought they might be made from (“Recipe: Feast of Truffle Steak Dinner” is made with “Plate of Truffle Steak Dinner”). It then printed the entire association, I read through it to see if it made sense, found the ones with no found items, found them manually. Then I did some tests with a few and found that each level has it’s own amount of wine, crystal, and coin. Re-ran the list, this time adding in how much of the other mats were needed, and created the forge recipes that make those recipes. I then tested and confirmed a lot of them (I wanted to know all of them, so I buy-ordered any available and made the rest. while making them, I confirmed that those were correct, and none weren’t. But to make ALL of them would of required something like 9,000 spirit points and I only had like 1100, so I hired guildies to help with the rest, but I couldn’t expect them to also confirm the recipes, so I just gave them the starting items, coin, and wine and said to forge all. They didn’t give any items back, so I assumed all went well.)

looks like those are only from random drops, so I’ll just remove the recipes. sorry for the wrong info.

There are other salvage recipes. a bunch for precursor crafting, and flawless snowflake -> 32 tiny snowflake.
in general, I’ve tried to keep recipes for more guaranteed returns. 1 flawless salvages into 32 tiny, 100% of the time. however, there are random ones (such as amalgamated gemstone forge recipes, which gives 10-25, average 11.5).
I’ve thought of adding dye salvaging as well. I think those have the same argument as salvaging ecto into dust.
this wouldn’t result in “but where would it end? salvage material? blue weapons?”, because dye and ecto salvages into exactly 1 thing, while others salvage into multiple choices.
what do you think? should I add recipes for salvaged these?

Vendor Item Listing Prices

I know it’s not quite the same, but I’ve built a lot of my own recipes, some are items purchased from vendors:
http://www.gw2profits.com/json
direct link for vendor items:
http://gw2profits.com/json/v3?disciplines=Merchant
I should point out: a lot of the ‘ingredients’ (cost to buy merchant’s items) are negative numbers. those correspond with their currency ID from the currency API (-1 = coin, -2 = karma, -3 = laurel, etc.)
I didn’t do every merchant, only permanent ones, or items that are required for another recipe. If there are any you know of that I missed, let me know (it’s on my things to do to add the ones in bloodstone fen)

how about the auto loot mastery is ONLY active in dungeons, fractals,WvW,raids and disabled in open world. problem solved

DON’T YOU DARE! it was bad enough when autoloot didn’t work in wvw or HoT areas. but they fixed that. either remove it entirely or have it everywhere. if you have it active only half the time, people will neglect to pick up half their loot.

a better solution would be to have auto attack not count as the player moving. so they can auto-attack and afk loot all they want, until the game logs them out for innactivity

10x Amalgamated Gemstone drop rate nerf?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

So, I want to put a foil hat on, and see if I can hand them out to others
I have done a few forgings to make Amalgamated Gemstones and have noticed a steep decline in how many you get, starting about a week ago.
The first week, I saw about 11.7 AG/forging (1 in 8.9 forgings give 25 instead of 10)
Now, it’s about 11.2 AG/forging (1 in 12.5 forgings give 25)

Now, I know what you’re thinking, because usually when people bring this sort of thing up their data looks like, “I forged this 5 times and only got 50 AG, shenanigans!”. However, I assure you my sample size is sufficient to have this discussion:
on 4/22 I reported 445 forgings gave 5,200 AG
After that, I did more forgings and the average peaked around 11.8 AG/forging. But I don’t have exact numbers for that, as I didn’t expect to need them. It included about 800 forgings.
5 days ago I got suspicious when my average plummeted, so I started recording seperate data: 416 forgings which gave 4,685 AG (11.26 AG/forging)
even worse, my results from today: 78 forgings gave 840 AG (10.77 AG/forging)
Total: 1,460 forgings gave 16,820 AG (11.52 AG/forging)

Anyone else observe this? Can we bring out the pitchforks?
I know this sample size could be bigger, but if you say this isn’t big enough to start this discussion, nothing will satisfy you. Believe me, this is big enough that the odds of just being unlucky is astronomically small.
Really, the only thing I’m annoyed about is that my initial data is obsolete; it’d be nice to get some confirmation so I could trash it.

Coin-fed salvage-o-matic refund

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

they’ve given gem refunds for similar things in the past (such as when they made unlimited tools account-bound). If you have multiple CFSoM’s, open a ticket, I’m confident they’ll agree to a refund (they’ll tell you to delete the extra ones, you tell them when you did that, they send you gems). and be nice about it, dont just demand they do it. they don’t have to.

slightly unrelated: having perma bank in shared slot makes single-use bank summoners 100% worthless, would be nice if they added a forge recipe to convert those into a random booster or even a different single-use summons (at least merchant and TP are usable by others near you).

What's the point of 1 shared inventory slot?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

what’s the point of 1 extra bank tab? or 1 extra inventory bag? see, there are 3 sorts of people: people who need no shared inventory slot, people who need a couple shared inventory slots, and people who can’t get enough shared inventory slots. If you find yourself asking what the point of only 1 is, then you clearly need more. some people are fine with 1, or even 0.

Should any skins be exclusive?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

From a financial standpoint limiting access seems pointless. They have to spend time which is money to pay these people to develop skins. Limiting availability to them is an absolute waste. When they make a skin they need to leave the method of acquisition in the game. Even if it is seasonal – like SAB, Wintersday, etc… Making a skin show up briefly never to be seen again is a waste of money.

Same goes for stuff like Living story season 1. The marionette should be back as a world boss. The dungeons that were made should be left permanently. They spent time and money making content just to take it out. Mechanics are there, stuff is designed, leave it out there.

except, when you make one skin more available, you reduce the use of all other skins. Uhhh, numbers:
let’s say 100 people in the game
10 have weapon A, 10 have weapon B, … 10 have weapon J
if you release weapon K, 1 from weapons A-J will switch to it and there will be ~9 on each
if you re-release weapon B, 1 from weapons A,C-J will switch to it. now you have 8 on A, 19 on B, 8 on C-J, 9 on K
most people go with the latest and craziest new shiny. by re-releasing old shinies, people abandon the newer shinies in favor of them. you devalue recent items by adding old ones. you don’t just top off a cup of water, you have to fill that cup with water from another cup.

new amalgamated gemstone MF recipe

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

to help expand our knowledge:
I’ve forged the new 10x amalgamated gemstone recipe 445 times and received 5,200 amalgamated gemstones (395×10 + 50×25), for an average of 11.68 each time.
another way to look at it: 1 out of every 8.9 forges gave 25
for the number lovers: that cost me 33,375 orbs/crests/doubloons and 2,225 ecto.
specific combination of ingredients seems to not affect the drop rate at all

edit: I did more forgings and updated my numbers above. I also tested different combinations:
50 forgings, all the same orbs per forging but dif orbs used in test: 590 AG. 11.8 each. 6×25 + 44×10
12 forgings, 1 crest + 1 doubloon + 1 orb, dif combination each test: 135 AG. 11.25 each. 1×25 + 11×10
5 forgings, all dif crests, pretty much same combo each test: 50 AG. 10 each. 5×10
20 forgings, all dif orbs, dif combo each forging: 215 AG. 10.75 each. 1×25 + 19×10
took a 2 hour break to buy more materials
50 forgings, all dif orbs, dif combo each forging: 590 AG. 11.8 each. 6×25 + 44×10
conclussions: some outliers, but considering the sample size, I’m pretty sure some combinations are not better than others.

I completed DS meta today, got one of these boxes.
it had 4 choices:
ley line spark
pile of auric dust
black diamond
“commander’s box of goodie” or something like that (I went with this. the text said something like “contains machetes used in dragon stand. also contains 3 pact crowbars.” I got 11 machetes from it)

no idea if the first 3 only gave 1, or multiple, or random amount

So, every time you craft something, any page you’re viewing on the TP refreshes. by ‘craft something’, I mean /every/ craft. Refining a stack of 250 mithril? it refreshes 250 times. obviously the number of refreshes doesn’t matter, but it’s impossible to see anything during this time as it populates from the top down and doesn’t get very far before blanking and starting over.

+1 from me:
not sure if this is a bug or just stress on the servers from the update.
I’m playing on a mac
I was in-game, it said there was a patch and the game will reset in 1 hour.
I logged out and GW2 disapeared. I was expecting it to go to the login page where it downloads updates, but just nothing.
After waiting a few minutes, I force-quitted GW2, then tried to open it. Similarly, nothing appeared. computer says the application is open and running.
I restarted my computer, then tried to open GW2, and same thing.

Ok so I’ve been having a look and i think its something to do with the launcher working but it just isn’t being displayed as that is why one user found it worked by deleting a GFX file. also when you press tab a few times when it is in front and press enter i at least get a safari window that opens to guild wars forgot password page. this would suggest that the forgot password button on the login client is being pressed.

dude, you’re right! when I select GW2, then tab and enter, things happen. 1 tab for ‘trouble logging in’ page, 2 tabs for quit, 3 tabs for ‘trouble logging in’ page, 4 tabs for quit. guess those are only options :P

I had this problem. I ended up writing a script that found all the guild upgrade ids (https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/guild/upgrades), then retrieved all the info on them (https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/guild/upgrades?ids=blah), then looked up an item with the same name as each of the upgrades and printed the equivilance. The downside to this is that it needs refreshing after updates, but it’s not the worst solution for now. This is up to guild upgrade id 730:

infantile mode for world 2 involves a lot of skipping. Like, a rainbow will take you past a building that would normally need completing, for example. If there are no rainbows, you took the normal way. There were likely arrow fingers with happy/sad faces to show the two paths.

It would seem all previous upgrades you got are gone?
not really complaining, as now I get to go get them all again

actually, no. but upgrades are character-specific. I was using the wrong character (activated birthday booster on main like 12 ingame hours ago)

Pile of auric dust - locked behind...

lol

my thoughts exactly.
OP has a good point too. really, both are the same point: either you need auric dust and cant get it or you dont need it and have way too much. check lfg, there’s sometimes parties like ‘full tarir looting’. once I was in a success map, looted chests, joined another map where I looted more chests, then joined a 3rd map and had to only loot the grand chests because I was running out of aurillium.
personally, I craft fulgurite then jeweled damask patch to sell every now and then to offload excess ley line sparks, and auric dust and airship oil get cleaned out at the same time.

run speed hack?

Super speed is something some professions can apply, but rarely more than a second or two. If it goes on more than that, something might be suspicious.

Usually speed hackers in Guild Wars 2 “lag” forward, by a lot. It’s not like some people who actually lag, and then gets placed back to their characters point accordingly, but these hackers “lag” forward by a lot, and you always fail to reach them.

super speed is still capped at only +33% normal speed. the only reason it’s superior to normal swiftness is that you still run at that +33% normal speed even in combat. Out of combat forward run is 300 u/s, in combat is 200. swiftness makes these 400 / 266. superspeed makes these 400 / 400. superspeed and cripple will cancel each other out, so you’d have 200 in combat.

So much clicking

Isn’t that how you run computers, by clicking?

Used to be, back in my day, we used computers by typing, not this fancy shmancy clicking you youngins do nowadays!

Why love for Tybalt, and not other mentors?

people like passionate people. doesn’t matter what, just that they are passionate. Tybalt loved apples and was not afraid to share the love.

yeah, I keep changing it and adding things. that’s why I direct people to http://www.gw2profits.com/json so they know what the latest version is and all of the options.
it’s handy that’s the list you were talking about, cause I know that guy, and I already have all the recipes he does

Precursor Forging Prices

This site worked with the average drop rates over a longer period of time – some precursors will cost more via the Mystic Forge route – some less over a RNG average.

yeah, it’s more to identify the best items to throw in, and give you an idea of your return. people that MF precursors for profit know what it’s all about, this just helps identify items for them. It has too high initial gold investment for most people to just pick it up as a way to toss around some extra currency they had floating around with a few throws for the forge. It’s for people who throw in 1,000’s of gold.

it’s better to cash out geodes via brick of clay → clay pot
you get about 1-4s per geode (depending at what tier you buy the geodes
that said, yeah, sandy bags are wonky. it was probably a typo fro dry top vendors.

I’ll also add that it’s very inconvenient to character switch if I need to craft an inscription, drop that in the bank, then go back to the first char to craft the item (this is just one of many examples).

I’ve asked for this once, and the thing that surprises me more is that there is no user-created list of vendors, like that Mystic Forge list At least I’ve found none at that time.

you must of missed mine
http://gw2profits.com/json/v3?disciplines=Merchant
hmmm, if you missed mine, what ‘Mystic Forge list’ are you referring to? would love to add theirs to mine.
not 100% complete (I didn’t include most temporary merchants or random weapon skins from karma vendors, for example), but I did include all the usual things you might expect such as food and things needed for other recipes. let me know if there are any you want added.
I also have other recipes (mystic forge, double-click, salvage, charge, achievement): http://www.gw2profits.com/json

+9000
I fully expect account-wide recipe learning, and only bought additional crafting licenses because I assume it’ll be implimented as soon as they figure out how as it’s such an obvious thing that is needed.
My main concern isn’t even price, it’s exclusivity. I have to keep old characters around who have certain disciplines because they know recipes that are not possible to obtain anymore (such as queen’s jubilee recipes, but there are many more).

I’m just annoyed at the title ‘raid’.
having never played wow, I would expect a ‘raid’ to be more of wvw zergs sweeping the map.
these raids are more of trials. or gauntlets.
