AutoClicker Macro Legal Still?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mystic.5934

I believe it’s a grey area that they purposefully haven’t stated their stance. I expect they leave it vague in case someone finds a way to abuse it that goes beyond what we are talking about here (such as using one to place 4,000,000 buy orders in a few seconds)
They have said it’s definitely against the rules to use something that opens bags while you are doing something else, such as fighting.
But if you use something that opens bags while you are unable to do anything else, that is what people generally think of when they say ‘autoclicker’, which Anet hasn’t said anything about.
Personally, I don’t see the harm in that (and I expect they wouldn’t take action against you if that’s all you do). There isn’t much effective difference between a program that clicks your mouse 500 times in 2 minutes and keybinding click to a key and just holding the key down. Bags should already have a right-click/‘open all’ option IMO. Just so long as the program doesn’t raise your ability to do things above what you would normally be able to do (meaning it just saves you from tendonitis or having to buy new mice all the time – so no opening a full stack every second or having it run for hours while you watch a movie).

A quick poll that will help me decide :)

Dreamthistle Skins - Price to sell

Mystic.5934

http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/48961
looks like that skin is actually selling in the 800-1000g price (check the sell listing volume; whenever that drops, that usually means one sold). my advice:
if you want 100% chance to sell, list at ~800g
if you want a ok chance to sell, list at ~900g
if you want a low chance to sell, list at ~1000g
I believe the 1000g will eventually sell, but it’s not as guaranteed, and it will take longer than a 800g listing.
If that’s a significant amount of gold for you, you might want the 800g just for the guaranteed sale. think of it this way: you’re on a game show, and you have the choice of guaranteed $5 million or a 50/50 chance at $0 or $10 million. Odds say that it’s even between the two, but, $5 million is still a life-changing amount of money; the difference between 5 and 10 is far less than the difference between 0 and 5. But if you are already rich, then the difference between 105 and 110 is just about the same as the difference between 100 and 105.
on the other hand, listing for 1000g and having to relist for 900g would still give more gold than listing at 800g to begin with.

does GW2 utilize multiple cores? I know a lot of applications don’t, so a fast 2- or 4- core would be better than a slower 8- or 12- core.
I’ll have to check CPU usage when I get home.

reminds me of 42.zip (links to the wiki page about it)
TLDR: 42.zip is a 42KiloByte zip file (really small) that, when unzipped, turns into a 4.5 PetaByte folder. (1 PetaByte = 1000 TeraByte). It’s a ‘virus’ because most hard drives these days have ~1-4 TeraBytes of space, so opening the zip would consume every last bit of space you have, which will make it so you have none left, but also likely crash your computer because the OS usually needs some to operate.

Portal Device?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mystic.5934

One use only and hellishly expensive at ALL sprocket prices, so practically useless. It cannot even be used in WvW which would be about the only use where the price might be somehow justifiable.

fixed that for ya

5 ori ingot = 5 – 10s
1 charged lodestone = ~2 – 4g
250 watchwork sprocket = 3 – 10g
2 master tuning crystal = 30 – 70s
total = 5g35s – 14g80s
divided by 2 = 2g67s – 7g40s per device
or buy it from the TP (I can’t seem to find the price anywhere right now, but I know it’s hella cheap in comparison – something like 30-80s?)
Anyways, all of these prices are around 10x as much as anyone would actually use them. And it’s not just watchwork sprockets that make it really expensive.

What Mini do you want to see?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

Mini me (my character in miniature)

this is my exact response!
I thought this would make a great birthday reward – to give you a mini of the character that had a birthday. It would have whatever armor and weapon your character has. It would not be tradable on the TP, but you could send it to someone via mail, or give it to another character on your account.
It should probably be a kit, where you get your character how you want it, then use the kit, and it then makes the mini for you, rather than just whatever you looked like when you had the birthday.

then there’s the 300% from luck
then there’s 16% from AP
so that’s 611% total.

further…
if you have Greater Call of the Mists, you could have 811% while in PvP. similarly; Call of the Mists for 711%.
with Mist War Summons, you could have 661% while in WvW. If you add Outnumbered, that’s 681%.
with Perseverance, you could have 761% while in Silverwastes

When to salvage/MF/sell spare gear?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

This is what I do:
white / blue / green – salvage with CFSoM/crude/basic (it would probably be a better idea to price-check them on the TP first, but the difference in profits would likely be negligible, so don’t waste your time.)
yellow – price check on the TP, then salvage with SFSoM/master/free mystic (if it sells for more than the price of an ecto, sell it instead)
orange – price check on the TP. remember the socket, and the inscription/insignia if applicable. If you get more from selling, sell it. If not, you’ll usually salvage. you’ll likely salvage with SFSoM/master/free mystic, but if the total value is above like 14g, then you can use a BLSK – unless you get BLSK for free, in which case just lower that 14g to a point where you won’t run out of BLSK. The other option is throwing them into the mystic forge. I usually only forge exotics that can’t be sold or salvaged – the math says both methods are about the same payout (ectos from exotics vs. forging for precursors), but I prefer guaranteed profits to gambles. It does fluctuate, but I don’t like to spend time keeping track of which to salvage or forge.

Buzzing Crystal??

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

I had a hard time with this one as well. I eventually found this page:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spark_
under Drops, it has:
Junk
Buzzing Crystal – level 3-19
Charged Crystal – level 37
Shocking Crystal – level 79

going back up the page, we have these areas:
Maguuma Jungle / Metrica Province / The Hinterlabs – level 3
Ascalon / Plains of Ashford / Windrock Maze – Level 14
Shiverpeak Mountains / Snowden Drifts / King Jalis’s Refuge – Level 19

personally, I tried all 3, but wasn’t having much luck, so I stayed at Windrock until I got one; It has the largest amount of sparks, so I figured the highest availability to get one.

Personally, I had a harder time finding the Charged Crystal (until I found that page I liked above).
long story short, the only spot on the entire map to find an enemy that drops it is at Harathi Hinterlands / Splintered Teeth / Restricted Zone XRB poi (just outside the cave). There are like 5 sparks, took me about 20 min before I got a charged crystal.

omg, if only we saw this earlier:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trash_Collector
it actually has a ‘Convenient location’ for the best spot to find enemies that drop all of those.

Swiftness / Speed Cap?

in Players Helping Players

Swiftness does stack duration, though.

not 100% of the time. temporal curtain, for example, doesn’t stack. In fact, if you have 0.000001 seconds of swiftness left and you walk over a curtain, you will leave it with 0.000001 seconds of swiftness. but…. if you have 0 swiftness, walk over curtain, you will then have ~12 seconds of swiftness, and you can then get other applications of swiftness to get more than 12. it’s a very finicky spell.

[Suggestion] Custom Instances

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

It would be really fun if we could design our own instances. If you really want to, you could have it as something similar to the current custom pvp maps with buying time and stuff, but the important thing is that much more can be customized:
able to edit terrain. there might be 30 different tiles and you can arrange any of those on a 10×10 grid in whatever combination you want. or maybe some preset ones that you can adjust such as making part of it taller or put at an angle, etc.
you could even pay x for a 10×10, y for a 15×15, z for a 20×20, etc.
able to add npc’s / enemies
special bundles/skills (probably just any skill that’s currently in the game – I wouldn’t go so far as to be able to make your own skill, but maybe be able to edit a current skill such as increase the range or decrease the cast time)
essentially I want a map editor
I imagine you could add your instance to a public roster if you choose so anyone could play on it.
people could make their own dungeon-type rpg’s, pvp with special rules (like capture the flag or hide and seek), [jumping] puzzles.
I would love to make a DOTA map :P

Since ANet’s policy is to ban scammers (even if they don’t return the goods) I’m pretty sure you could use a reputable BLTC trader like Wanze (just as an example, don’t know if he does middle man trading) without much risk.

maybe he’s rich for a reason other than what you think.
j/k, he knows his TP stuff well and if he didn’t get rich off trading, he should go try it as he’d do well.

You should think of p2p trades like the Dothraki (Game of Thrones) think of trades: “I give you something, you can then choose if you want to give me something, I can then choose if I ever want to give you anything ever again”

I’m curious what the UI is for this sort of hacking. you can’t be changing some file’s text on the fly like that. and it looks too intentional to be random (he uses it to run away). it looks more like he is just blinking but without the blink animation. but how would you add a ground-targeting ability as a hack? Most hacks are not as visually stimulating as TV lets you believe.
My only guess is that he programmed a macro that is activated by pressing a single key that would edit some file’s text to set his position to his current position plus a few hundred units in whatever direction he’s facing.

first they kill you, then they stomp your corpse, then their pet fertilizes the surrounding area so a tree will grow good and strong off your remains.
in all seriousness, rangers are not the easiest targets imo. personally, I much prefer seeing warriors or ele’s – they die MUCH faster than ranger, and they never seem to be able to deal with all the clones. If I had to rank everyone from happiest to saddest to fight against, it would be: warrior, ele, guard, ranger, engineer, necro, mesmer, thief. thief die really quick as well, but they usually will cloak and scurry away; they are more of a nuisance than a threat, which makes them annoying to go up against.

Mystic.5934

hard? sure! I love hard. having to log in for 3 days (not necessarily in a row) is not hard, it’s boring.
ascended crafting (and charged quartz) is another similar problem. but at least that has a reason to be entered into the game with a time gate (though no reason to keep it time-gated after a few months). This is just time-gate for the sake of making you waste time and extend the length of the quest. “this quest seems short… let’s add a time gate to make it appear longer than it really is!”

If you absolutely must time gate, then do things like: make that merchant that wanders around only sell specific things in certain cities. It would result in the same wasting of our time, but at least it wouldn’t be as obvious and make us thing you’re just out to waste our time.

I was starting the “Orphan Laine’s Letter” quest, was directed to home instance, talked to Grawnk, then opened the wiki. I started reading through it and got to “1 type per day” and my heart just sank.
All I can say is: “gerrrrrr”
I growl at neighbor’s car when they take my parking spot. I growl at the empty cookie plate. I growl at roommates who leave dishes out. And now I growl at you, who won’t let me do the quest you set out for me.
gerrrrrrrr
there is nothing about the phrase “per day” that belongs in a game. Well… unless it’s some sort of rent you get for people living in the house you bought after you killed the previous inhabitants (Fable). But for 99% of games, “per day” is a interest-killer.

there are examples that people have posted that you can download. I recommend starting with one that works, and exploring it to see how it works, then either editing it to do what you are looking for, or making your own.
one recommendation: there are 2 ways to get prices. one at a time as you need them, and all at once. unless you’re only using like 10 prices, I recommend getting all of them at once. I’ve seen some ugly scripts where someone would go through the entire list of items and retrieve each price individually. I think he was complaining about how it took 4 hours to update. updating prices should take a few seconds (I made a website instead of spreadsheet, but the idea is the same, and updating it takes ~1 second to download the prices and ~4 seconds to sort through them).

The recent update showed a table for the daily rewards. I think it just showed up first thing when I logged in yesterday, but I am pretty sure it didn’t when I logged in today.
I went to check the table to see if I got it and didn’t remember, and realized there was no way to view it.
While I was writing this, I got the idea to try logging in as the first char I logged in as today, and sure enough, the login reward chest was in the bottom corner. That’s annoying that it doesn’t appear on all your characters.
But beside that, is there a way to view it after when you first log in? I don’t know about most people, but I like to do a few things when I first log in: alt 6: use mawdrey, alt 1: craft some ascended mats and mine all the nodes in home instance, alt 4: craft remaining ascended mats. none of those are on a character I actually play or spend more than 10 seconds on.

As an aside: I would love if Anet would finally add the account-bound recipes (instead of soulbound) so I can move all that daily timegatedkittenbs to one character.

Wintersday Event!

in Players Helping Players

Mystic.5934

It’s actually not GW2 christmas. It’s GW2 winter holiday. Almost every major religion has a holiday near the winter solstice (the darkest, coldest, part of winter where you want to drink hot beverages and snuggle up with loved ones). Wintersday is GW2’s winter holiday.
Religions time their holidays off various calendars. Christmas uses the gregorian calendar and says it’s on the 25th of December. Chanukah uses the jewish calendar and says it starts the night of the 25th of Kislev (3rd month in the year), but the months are lunar-based and there is a leap-month every few years, which is why the day it starts changes each gregorian calendar year.
Same thing with GW2’s Wintersday. It starts on the 2nd update in December and ends 4 weeks later, because GW2’s calendar is bi-weekly-based. So it does start at the same time every year, if you use the correct calendar. It’s just translating one calendar to another that makes it seem like it moves around.

Question About Metrics

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

The thing is, we’ve been hearing for years from a number of devs from different companies that people don’t really enjoy the harder content. Some people do, but not most people. It’s not one or two guys saying this. Anet doesn’t only have the metrics from Guild Wars 2, they know what people played in Guild Wars 1 as well. They learned what most people play. You may not believe it, but that doesn’t make it less of the truth.

A few months ago, a Lotro dev who left the company (and thus could no longer be gagged) said that not only did less than 10% of the Lotro population raid, but less than 10% of the population raided since the game launched. He also said that forum posts by that group made up 50% of the posts.

This isn’t just Anet pulling numbers out of the air. First of all, more people solo in MMOs than most of us would like to believe. And those people tend not to do dungeons at all and none of them would care about dungeons unless they made a solo version.

Secondly, a lot of people just don’t want to be yelled at or kicked from groups, and they have a bad experience and stop doing it completely. Why play a game if you’re not having fun.

I’m relatively certain there’s a fairly big demographic of the game that will either never do a dungeon, or only do dungeons reluctantly.

I see it more as a effort vs. reward problem. currently, they reward everything about the same, so of course people would do the easier things most often. If they scaled the rewards for how much effort was put into it, everything would get played equally. adjusting the gold reward for each dungeon path was good… except they are barely any different from each other. I’m a fan of automatic reward adjustment. no one does arah path 4? the game will increase it’s reward. everyone does CoF path 1? the game will decrease it’s reward. the game would just have to keep track of how many parties successfully ran each dungeon path, compare those numbers to each other each day, adjust the rewards accordingly. it dynamically scales the reward for how popular that content is. they use this in other places, but no where useful (such as bonus exp for npc kills)

people will do harder content if they get proportionally rewarded for it. look at the marionette boss and scarlet invasions. I would say those were plenty hard, but they were also very rewarding, and players swarmed to those events like ravaging ogres.

Further, A kickstarter would not make a dent in their income. Let’s say they do manage to get ONE MILLION DOLLARS (in Dr. Evil’s voice). That is as much money as 10,000 people buying 8,000 gems for $100 each. I would not be surprised if they sell that many every week.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1xro6q/ncsoft_q4_report/ says their total 2013 revenue was $115.9 million, which would mean they sell 8,000 gems to 10,000 players every 3 days.

I am reminded of when I wanted to buy some quality running socks. I went to Big 5 (the closest store that sells sports things, including a shoe section). They had about 20 different brands/styles of socks… all size medium (shoe size 7-10). not a single large (or small) in the entire store. my guess on why this was the case: probably ~90% of the socks they sell are medium, so they choose to only stock medium.
I have a feeling a similar thing happens at Anet. 90% of players play the easiest content they can for the loot they get, so that’s what Anet focuses 100% of their effort on providing.
I went to another store to buy my socks.

Getting Extra Jumping Distance?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Mystic.5934

Mystic.5934

dodge-jump is definitely still in the game. it’s good to practice it while running around. dodge is as fast as swiftness, so I use dodge-jump between my swiftness running out and the next application of it to go a little faster. it takes some learning, and there are very few places that require it. tribulation mode SAB is the only place that comes to mind.

you are able to change direction while in mid air. the speed is fairly slow; probably about the same as backing up. If you jump, then move forward, your jump distance will be pretty short. if you move forward, then jump, you will have that initial speed that will let you go further. but, if you’re moving forward, I believe you don’t jump quite as high. If you aren’t going far enough, run forward for a fraction of a second before jumping to jump further. and, as other people said, you can jump just after leaving the visual surface of the ledge. your character has a circle around it’s feet (maybe 50 range?), and if any part of that circle is above the ledge, your character is still on the ledge. I would recommend testing this distance somewhere where you can get back to the ledge quickly (a fence, perhaps) get a feel for where it is on each of your characters, because it’s the same radius for all races, but it’ll look different on charr vs. asura.

My advice above is still good, but also consider: Unidentified Dyes.

These are slowly creeping up and all sources for them are nerfed to hell. Black lion chests are the last good way to get them, but anet sneakily nerfed this replacing some Unidentified droos with special die kit drops.

Unidentified dies will continue to creep up until excess supply is all burned, and afterwards will be a way for you to invest in the gemstore without paying 27% tax.

this is all true, but I feel that this is so obvious and so many people are doing it that it will take a really long time to see it happen. might be what OP has in mind, but just know that this is a really long term investment. Also, they added unid dyes as a drop from something recently… so there’s a non-zero chance they will reverse their ‘unid dyes are really rare’ stance.

DELETE FROM gw2_tp WHERE gw2_tp.buy_order_price < gw2_tp.item_vendor_value/0.85

that’ll be $10,000 please.

people have had 2 years to remove their listings. If they haven’t by now, they are as good as deleted anyways and should just be deleted (I assume it’s easier to delete them than refund people as well)

It’s not a resource allocation problem. It would likely take 1 developer less than an hour to remove all of them. They decided to leave the buy orders there. I’m guessing it’s more of a “why remove them? they aren’t a problem” thing.

If thats something youre interested in, i certainly suggest you do it. I have been a power trader for 2 years now. Even though i still play lots of other content (about 50% of the time im trading these days) there have been stretches where i traded only because i got bored with the game.

Do you mind sharing exactly how rich you are?

Me personally, I didn’t spend any money in legendary. If I liquidated all my goods, I probably sit at around 25k gold.

Very few of my gold is actaully earned through TP activities. I have about 6000 playing hours, and I suppose I earn about 5 gold per hour etc.

25k gold sounds alot but quite honestly if you buy a few legendary it’s gone. I spend most of my money on alts, permanent licenses, and making ascended gear.

I couldnt tell you, even if I wanted to because its incredibly hard to measure personal wealth. I tried that about a year ago and ran into several problems. How do you value all your listings on the tp? Do you calculate the value of the listing (which didnt sell yet and never might) or the buy order value? Do I account the tens of thousands of gems i got with gold and if i do, do i use todays value or their value when i exchanged them?
Do i measure all the thousands of gold that i paid for now soulbound items, like skins, dyes, minis, legendaries and ascended armor?
Last year i estimated me to be worth beyong 50k gold, propably most value of it in tradeable assets.
Now its more than that.
But I usually dont have more than a couple of hundred gold on hand every day in either cash or buy orders. Thats all i need most of the time to trade efficiently. Its usually only between 20-50 items i trade in simoultanously, from 3-5 different markets. I made the experience that trading in more than that results in less attention to each item, decreasing your profits in the process.
If I should need some more gold for any reason, i just sell something from my vault to raise some more couple of hundred gold within a couple of minutes or hours.
But I still have days, where i find myself out of a sudden without any gold on hand for something i want to buy quick for myself or because there is alot of profit to be made right then. Those times are often more exciting because my personal value of gold is rising again, raising my appreciation for every reward that i get in game, or once something sells on the tp.
Goes for real life as well. Somehow, i appreciated life more when i had little little money or posessions while traveling to places I havent been before than when i was sitting at home with lots of dosh and nothing to spend it on.

If I may suggest, ‘net worth’ can be calculated by how much you can sell everything for right now. So if it’s listed on the TP, the value would be whatever the sell listing price currently is, not what it’s listed for, then subtract TP fees from that price. gems would be how much you would get if you sold all your gems right now. speculations would be whatever those items can be sold for right now. account/soulbound things would be 0. I think things like BLSK would also be 0. It’s a ‘current’ net worth, not a ‘possible’ or ‘future’ net worth.
not saying you should be telling people these sorts of things, just saying that might be how we would define the terms.

The only ones available on the TP are the benthic (Tequatl) ones. The only other ones are karma ones (the highest level of those being the Gaveborn ones).

I just checked the tp, and this is the most concise answer to OP’s question.
I will add that aquatic headgear is listed under ‘armor’ on the tp, and there is also a level 20 water filter (heavy). any other aqua breather OP got was from personal story or leveling reward (they do give you a few through those that are soulbound on acquire)

the choices for aqua breathers is very limited. to the point that at level 80, I think you have only 2 options, and both are only rare quality (one of them is dropped from tequatl, I forget what the other is, but I feel like there is one).
I am sure there is an aqua breather category in the trading post (which is what I think you’re talking about?), but I’m not sure it’s under the armor category; I think it might be under ‘other’ or something?

before the updated tequatl, the aqua breather most people used was a masterwork one bought from a single merchant, ‘Gavbeorn’ in orr, and it only had one option for stat combination. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gavebeorn_Breather#item4

Trick or Treat Bags – bought them as Halloween ended, for 5s 43c, I thought, Surely they’ll go up like the other years ToT Bags did.. Nope Maize balm was the death of me now there at like 4s and I bought about 4k of them. Woops.

I invested in maize balm not exactly good yet as there’s piles of it laying around, but it should be worth more than it is (each one is good for 9 ToT bags, and opening ToT bags gives around 4s worth of stuff, so 4s x 9 = 36s value you get out of 1 maize balm)

Other investments I’ve made that have yet to pay out:
Chaos of Lyssa recipe
unid dyes
several rare dyes
everything ToT bags drop
BL weapon skins
a few Living Story dyes
ascended rings, empyreal fragments, dragonite ore
level 500 jeweler materials (silver, gold, mithril)
rare back items. particularly the named ones (Flame Legion Ritual Book, Revolutionary Fliers, Charged Band, etc.). This was long before these were salvageable. I noticed many of them were selling for like 2-3s (just above merchant value). And some of them had sockets that were worth 20-60s. If they were salvageable, they would give about 50-80s in materials (ectos were cheaper back then). They should be salvageable, I was sure it was just an oversight they would soon catch and fix. So I bought a lot of them. Around 8,000. cost me about 240g. but if that update was made, I would get back around 5,000g. I stored them everywhere, but mostly on the TP (listed for ~50s each, which cost me 200g total to store them there). The update was coming any day now, I was sure of it. 4 months go by. I got fed up and wanted to use the money for other things, so I withdrew all of them and sold to a merchant to get that 240g back. 3 months later, they did an update that made all those rare back pieces salvageable.

Investments I’ve made in the past that have paid out:
Living Story dyes (before they started re-releasing them)
exotic armors that were able to give insignia when salvaged. story: first, they made weapons able to give inscriptions, I figured they would do the same for armors, so I made a list of all the armors that would be able to give insignias when salvaged and bought the cheapest ones. I bought something like 2000 armors for around 50s each. storing them was a pain. the update happened, overnight those same armors went up to around 2g each. But I salvaged them instead, and sold the insignias for like 6g each (~50% chance of insignia), plus there were sockets and ectos. That was about a 5,000g profit (from 1,000g starting).
cloth and leather in anticipation of ascended armor crafting. sold it way too soon, but still made a good profit.

anything at merchant value (this used to be more reliable, but still not bad. the beauty is that at most you can only lose like 15%, and it’s likely to go up).
thick leather.
gossamer.
elder wood.
these, and similar, are likely to actually be valuable in the distant future. It’ll be hard to invest 1300g in these :P 1300g would buy about 2736 stacks of elder wood logs. that’s 17 characters, all with 8 × 20-slot bags. or just list it on the TP as you buy it for what you think it might eventually get to (maybe 1s?)
