Where they in an invisible bag?
was about to suggest that.
95% of the time, this is the problem.
4.9% of the time, it’s a weird soulbound version of a normal item
0.1% of the time, they changed a normal item into an account-bound item
An example of that last option: I had 2 Mad King Slippers I had bought from the TP after the first year’s halloween and was trying to flip. I had them listed on the TP. Then I log in one day, and I have a mail. It was from support and contained like 70s and a brief message saying something along the lines of “this is a refund for a listing fee”. hella confused at this point, but I had a clue on which to work with. I check the TP, the 2 boots I was trying to sell were in my pickup tab. I still had no idea what was going on; thought it might of been a bug that removed those listings. I withdraw them and try to list them again, but the option wasn’t there. They now clearly said ‘account bound’. I did a bit of swearing, then salvage them and got 1 ecto.
“You’ve placed too many sell orders, please wait a few minutes”.
Do you think I have all day to get this stuff sold on my inventory?
You have bots and hackers to thank for this. This prevents bots from selling items in mass before heading out into the game world to bot some more and to prevent hackers from selling everything on the account in like 2 mins.
Same reason why you may be muted in chat for saying the same thing over and over again. It prevents bots from mass spamming about selling gold.
bots might be their explanation for having it, but this implementation of bot-prevention is actually better for bots that people.
A person will sell 7 things, get the error, curse, go do other things, come back and hour later, sell 7 things, get the error curse, go do other things. 7 listings per hour.
A bot will be programmed to sell 6 things, wait 30 seconds, sell 6 things, wait 30 seconds, etc. 720 listings per hour. Also, why would a bot need to offload massive amounts at one time to begin with? There’s no reason it couldn’t be written like this: “gather this tree, sell 3 logs on the TP, gather this ore, sell 3 ore on the TP, etc.”
A better implementation would be to limit it to 1 listing every 2 seconds. So both bots and people would be limited to 1800 listings per hour.
Or, best of all would be to have no restrictions, but flag any account that lists 10 things in a second or 100 things in a minute, investigate, ban.
And hackers are not as pressed for time as you say. They already have control of the account, they don’t need to get in and out before they are noticed. It’s not like in the movies where they wrestle control away and take what they can before it’s wrestled back. at best, they have at least a day before the original owner contacts tech support and are confirmed to be the owners.
An item that unbinds an item would have to be priced for the most expensive thing that could be used for. So it would cost around 2000g and would let you unbind your legendary just so you could then sell it on the TP for 3000g (2550g after tax). It would still give you a profit if you did it on the most expensive things, but it would not be useful for everyday items. Exactly like the upgrade extractor. Oh… and it would overwrite whatever is socketed into it to be whatever the unbound version has socketed.
15,000 gems. would you pay that much to unbind your legendary?
And you just know people would complain about how they could just buy a new legendary for that price, and how it’s too many gems to pay to unbind their Anomaly, etc.
In terms of gold/time, it’s probably around 10c/hour. hmmmm, now I want to do that math :P I’ll get back to you on that.
Well, I did the math. I went with 17,000 AP and 3,500 hours
after 17,000 AP, you’ll have 1 × 100AP Achivement Chest + 14 x Achievement Chests + 14 x Large Achievement Chests + 3 Heavy Achievement Chests + 3 Massive Achievement Chests
Totals:
66 Gold
330 Mystic Forge Stones
6,600 Badges of Honor
447,000 Karma
66 Blueprints
60 Random Daily rewards (T charge, booster, key, revive orb, bank access, BLSK, etc)
65 Boosters
1 Revive Orb
1 Repair Canister
3 level-20 scrolls
3 total makeover kits
20 Boxes-o’-Fun
I used these conversion rates:
42s45c per Forge Stone (their value from making Mystic Salvage Kit instead of using master)
33.3c per badge (buy flame ram blueprints for 6 badges and sell for 2s)
10s per 1000 karma (similar to buying linen armor, forging, salvaging)
5s per blueprint
5g46s69c per Random Daily (wiki says 3.2% of BLSK, 2.9% of MFS, 0.3% of BLCK, but these are likely low, as the wiki also says 73.3% of nothing, and I think the ach chests don’t give nothing, so I tripled the total value. Without tripling, the total would of been 373g – almost 40% less. BLSK = 2g per charge, MFS = 42s45c, BLCK = 6g)
The rest I value at 0. boosters can be profitable, but it’s hard to quantify.
So, that gives us 569g in 3,500 hours = 16s27c per hour
Whenever I’m fighting I’m pretty much always hitting F in between skills to do AoE loot.
I highly suggest getting used to that. I never have to worry about missing loot, especially since the loot drops right on top of you even if the person you killed is not. Just mash that F.
same. just be careful of ‘Talk’ when NPCs are nearby.
Step 1 – Stop worrying about AP (or titles!)
Step 2 – Do stuff you enjoy in game. AP etc will come.
Step 3 – By the time you have capped dailies you’ll have 10K AP! (and if you manage to cap monthlies as well you’ll have 15K + any others you pick up)
Step 4 – Problem solved go home and have a beer!
Actually, one of my goals in this game is to get 1 title that our guild leader doesn’t have and wear it just because he can’t (he’s currently ranked 150th on the leaderboards)
But I totally agree on the AP part and titles in general.
All AP’s are are loot. And not even good loot. In terms of gold/time, it’s probably around 10c/hour. hmmmm, now I want to do that math :P I’ll get back to you on that.
Just a quick rundown of how making a legendary goes:
You craft the legendary (you get the precursor skin unlocked in your wardrobe), you now how the unbound item in your inventory
there won’t be a popup; you have to manually unlock the skin either by ‘unlock’ or ‘equip’
skins only unlock as soon as you remove the item from the market, either by destroying it in the forge or by salvaging it or by equipping it. (so when you make eternity, that unlocks sunrise and twilight, which is why eternity is so cheap on the TP)
time-gating these made sense for the first 4 months or so when they came out, to slow down how many T2-T5 mats were consumed when everyone was making ascended weapons and armor for the first time. Those materials more than doubled in price, if no time-gate, they would of gone up to dozens of silver. Right now, it’s only an annoyance. But they don’t fix annoyances, they only fix problems. I can’t see it being a problem for the economy/game, so we’re stuck with it until the time-gate interferes with some future LS content.
Crafting Damask for profit is unreliable. It used to be reliably around 20%, but that’s not the case anymore. If you buy-order the materials and sell-list the damask, the profit fluctuates from -5% to +15%. You should definitely save it until the +15% times (like right this moment), but that’s still unreliable. All the others are even less reliably profitable. Elonian is currently at -5% profit, Spiritwood and Deldrimor are currently at +13% and +11% (but often dip below 0)
You want to hear something funny? Glow Lamp is time-gated to one a day :P Have you seen the ingredients? one of them is 10 Charged Quartz. So not only can you only make one once every 10 days, but you also can’t make more than one in one day. That’s like time-gating the damask and time-gating the ascended insignia.
im still kitten about the 7oo silk i need to craft a full set, i can wait a month for a full set
Hehe, reminds me of when damask first came out. Before that, Bolts of Silk were selling for 9c (the REFINED version was selling for the same price as the un-refined version = merchant value). At the time, a use for the mountains of silk was very welcome. Only they overestimated it and now cloth is hella expensive.
To OP: I recommend buying all the damask you need from the TP buy-order now, make your ascended, then craft damask over the next month and sell-list it to the TP. You should come out a little below even (compared to crafting them all yourself), but you’ll have your ascended armor in the mean time.
(edited by Mystic.5934)
yes, you could buy a BL skin with tickets and sell it on the TP. most of those items are 300-700g because they cost 3-7 tickets. I would recommend to buy some current skins for 1 ticket each and hold onto them for a few months until they reach the 300-700g price, so you’d get 1500-3500g in like 6 months. Make sure it’s a popular skin; not all of the them appreciate so well.
“LFG Zerker only pls! Gear Check.”
Links gear in inventory, wears PVT
I don’t get the gear check. Really? It’s just insulting elitism that serves no purpose. If you want zerker geared, say so, but leave the “Gear Check” crap out. If I wanted to do dungeons and fractals, which I have 0 interest in, I would probably be very tempted to troll these groups.
You can go one step further and copy/paste the item # from the wiki into chat. Itd be hilarious to link ascended zerker armor in one of those groups while wearing rare soldiers gear. I bet 99% of those groups would never come close to noticing.
Ever noticed when a player links an item in chat they picked up or are wearing the font is gold. Where as if someone copy & pastes an item it shows up as white font. Saw this happen with dusk. Kind of a give away really.
I just tested it and it doesn’t work.
I copied and pasted the code for Dusk from the wiki in-game and it came up with orange text.
I’d guess what you’ve seen is someone posting the code for an item that could have several different tiers (like most looted items), and the code they copied happened to be for the white version.
Interesting as I saw it happen in the coil event farming. A player either picked up dusk or had in their inventory, link it, came up gold. Another person did the same & the text was white or black/white. Figured they pasted it from an external source.
Just tried it myself. Control & V. The text was black.
if you type “[Dusk]”, it will come out as normal chat color. copy/paste will just copy the text, not the linked-ness of it.
if you type “[&AgEBcgAA]”, it will come out as if you linked Dusk from your inventory
you mean right-click menu.
if you do, then I add my vote to the pile.
I always thought that their ‘investigation’ into reported bots included watching your screen live, from your point of view. PvP has that ability, so I assume mods also have that for anyone. If you are on patrol and don’t deviate, someone watching you could agree you are a bot. If you do random paths, I would imagine they would easily see you’re not.
Regarding forging:
Rares: they basically replace a rare you would buy from the TP. You could buy rares from the TP for maybe 30s? that would mean about 1s/token. It also depends if you want to gamble or have near-guaranteed profits. remember to be sure to mix levels to have a 75 average to have highest chance of a precursor.
Exotics: similar, it replaces an exotic you would otherwise buy from the TP. However, exotics that can give insignia/inscriptions sell for more on the TP than ones that don’t. I think you could buy exotics-to-forge for about 1g? so 210 tokens = 1g -> 47c/token. again, if you prefer gambling or guaranteed.
All dungeon tokens except CoF have exotics that can be salvaged to get insignia/inscriptions.
My recommendation:
If the rares are level 68 or higher, buy the 30-token light armor rares and salvage with a MSK.
If the rares are lower than level 68, buy the 180-token exotic light armor and salvage with a MSK (the lower token price makes it slightly better).
The above is a general guideline. Here is some exact numbers for prices right now:
Dungeons that have exotic weapons that can give Inscriptions:
AC = Soldiers (pow tough vit = 78c/Token), Magi (heal prec vit = 79c/Token)
CM = Rabid (cond prec tough = 77c/Token), Shaman (vit cond heal = 74c/Token)
TA = Rabid (cond prec tough = 77c/Token), Magi (heal prec vit = 79c/Token)
SE = Soldiers (pow tough vit = 78c/Token)
CoF = none
HotW = Soldiers (pow tough vit = 78c/Token), Rabid (cond prec tough = 77c/Token), Magi (heal prec vit = 79c/Token)
CoE = Dire (cond tough vit = 75c/Token)
Arah = Rabid (cond prec tough = 77c/Token)
Prices include Master SK and TP tax and Inscription and Ecto at 210 tokens/item; they do not include basic materials or Globs of Dark Matter
If you’re using a free BLSK, profit increases from 78c/Token to 1s9c/Token
Dungeons that have exotic armors that can give Insignia:
AC = Soldiers (pow tough vit = 80c/Token), Magi (heal prec vit = 83c/Token)
CM = Rabid (cond prec tough = 76c/Token), Shaman (vit cond heal = 86c/Token)
TA = Rabid (cond prec tough = 76c/Token), Magi (heal prec vit = 83c/Token)
SE = Soldiers (pow tough vit = 80c/Token)
CoF = none
HotW = Soldiers (pow tough vit = 80c/Token), Rabid (cond prec tough = 76c/Token), Magi (heal prec vit = 83c/Token)
CoE = Dire (cond tough vit = 86c/Token)
Arah = Rabid (cond prec tough = 76c/Token)
Prices include Master SK and TP tax and Insignia and Ecto at 180 tokens/item; they do not include basic materials or Globs of Dark Matter
If you’re using a free BLSK, profit increases from 80c/Token to 1s12c/Token
Dungeons that have Level 68+ rares that can give ecto:
AC = none
CM = none
TA = none
SE = none
CoF = Yes (1s15c/Token)
HotW = Yes (1s15c/Token)
CoE = Yes (1s15c/Token)
Arah = Yes (1s15c/Token)
Prices include Master SK and TP tax and Ecto at 30 tokens/item; they do not include basic materials
If you’re using a free BLSK, profit increases from 1s15c/Token to 1s67c/Token

If jewelry could be crafted with non-standard effects, that could work. For example, an ascended berserker trinket may proc a 3 sec vuln on hit with a 10 sec cd. The individual boon or condition should be very small so that even with five trinkets offense of defense boosts are just barely noticeable.
Crafted ascended jewelry should not compete with laurel, fractal, or dropped but needs to be roughly equal in benefit.
I like
I do have about 100 ascended rings from fractals. But I also have about 15 or so ascended trinkets I got as rewards for stuff like LS achievements. I would say it’s an equal distribution of ring/accessory/amulet. So enough to equip 2.5 characters. Not so good for altaholics, but more than adequate for most players. then with laurels, you can get a trinket every ~month. ascended trinkets are just a time gate. If you’re starting out, you won’t have any. But give it time and they will roll in on their own.
I’ve forged soulbound (exotic) trinkets. So the problem isn’t that it’s soulbound.
karma items can be forged.
I’ve received a few items before… see this page. From opening a stack of Gifts from Mawdrey, I recieved 3 items: Pristine Gold Ring lvl 29 (master), Orrian Master Scholar Certificate lvl 75 (master), Queen’s Medal lvl 22 (fine). Those items, nothing could be done with them. account bound, no TP, no salvage, no forge. They might of had higher-than-normal stats (I don’t care enough about leveling alts to check), but all I could do with them is destroy.
There are also the random drop items that have higher-than-normal stats, I know those “can’t” be salvaged, but I don’t know if they can be forged (by “can’t”, I mean that it will let you salvage them, but gives you no materials)
“Fractal LvL X: Swamp ready!” – I could not agree more. plus, every time we do swamp, we always get cliffside and volcano or dredge next. I actually prefer starting with the underwater level. I can solo the first few groups of mobs and get to the final boss alone while waiting for people to join. However, if you’re willing to waste your time rolling for swamp, I’ll gladly join your party. I’d also join your party if you weren’t wasting your time.
Someone on reddit once did some math about if it’s better to restart fractals if you get dredge on the 3rd fractal. It was close, but they concluded that unless dredge takes you like more than like 82 minutes, it’s quicker to just run it. that data is out of date now that they updated that fractal, but was still interesting and the same math could be applied to other lineups.
“LFG Zerker only pls! Gear Check.” – I leave any group that even suggests party requirements. Even if I meet them. Because it’s elitists like that that will later leave from a single wipe, or kick people if they think the person isn’t pulling enough weight. I don’t want to have to deal with that.
“LFG, 5000AP + only” – I daydream of making a lfg with “20,000+AP only” as the requirement. or “must be less than 2,000 AP”. something unusual to throw people off. But if I did, I’m sure some would see it as acceptable and perpetuate the horrible practice. duuuuuude. I should make a party: “free 10g to anyone with less than 1,000 AP” :P
“Hey…I’m a female asuran Thief, bout 3’11, big blue eyes, love running fractals and occasionally doing the odd speed clear. Currently looking for a large Norn guardian, must like my mini-pets, have a zerky kinda build and be into walks on the beach while doing Teq runs and the movie “The Notebook” as it’s the best movie ever made…like…ever."
I think I just fell in love.
because everyone has bank tabs full of ascended trinkets and want ways to get rid of them, not ways to get more of them. They are way too generous with how many ascended trinkets they throw at you. Jeweler 500 would need to add things that aren’t already for sale from laurel vendors. Maybe ascended sockets and interesting infusions?
The thing about random numbers is that you are guaranteed to eventually see ‘runs’. It happens. It’s the difference between ‘random’ and an even distribution.
The thing about humans is that they are designed to detect patterns.
So you will go months with getting random results with no discernible rhyme or reason, then one day you and your buddies all get aqua breathers, and boom, there’s a pattern and your brain raise all sorts of flags and alerts you to the weirdness that you should pay attention to.
In terms of how they decide the randomness, this is my guess:
each mob has a loot table of things it is able to drop, and each thing has a number range which decides how likely it is to drop
for example, let’s say cog is numbers 1-4, Bag of Experimental Materials is numbers 5-6, generic white item is numbers 7-8, generic blue item is numbers 9-10, generic green item is numbers 11-12, generic yellow item is number 13, generic orange item is number 14
then they use the generic random number generator function of whatever programming language they use to get a random number from 1 to 14. probably something like: $result = rand(1,14);
whatever number comes up is what item you receive.
obviously, the tables they are dealing with use much higher numbers. I would guess in the 9-digit range.
I sell all minor sigils and runes to a merchant. it’s a junk item that you have to individually sell instead of ‘sell junk’
I am sure it is not intentional, and am also sure it will not be corrected.
good catch, though! It looks like when they added those insignia, the person adding the recipes was not very savvy in regards to crafting knowledge of how many materials are required.
the only advantage/disadvantage to race is size. like, literally how big the character is on your screen, and how much of the screen you can’t see because of it. There’s actually no difference in hit box size, footprint size, obstruction size, etc. Almost all the time you don’t even notice, but smaller can be easier when you’re maneuvering around cliffs and close against walls (which is not very often – pretty much only in jumping puzzles). For the most part, race is just aesthetics; what you want your character to look like.
For profession, based on what you said, I would recommend Elementalist or Mesmer or Engineer. They tend to have more complicated skills. Necro, and Thief would be the next-most complicated. Warrior, Guardian, and Ranger would be the simplest.
That’s in general – the average. You could make a Elementalist that’s just point and click. You can also make a Warrior that dodges in and out of fights.
Also, the more-complicated professions also tend to be the ones that are hardest to play with in early levels, but get their stride around level 31. The simpler ones are easy from the start. But it’s super easy to get to level 80, so you won’t spend much time below that, I just thought I’d point out that you shouldn’t form a judgement on any profession until at least level 40.
One tip that I hear WoW players need to hear: learn to dodge. dodge is an ability everyone has. You will slowly regain endurance up to 2 dodges-worth. So you dodge twice, then have to wait like 10 seconds before you can dodge again. Save them for when you’re about to get hit. use them when you’re about to get hit. You should not be standing there trying to tank every shot – move around, dodge the big attacks, move back and forth.
There was this one youtube video where a bow ranger was auto-attacking someone far away, and the person was just moving side to side; the AI of projectiles anticipates where the person will be and calculates where to fire so it hits. So if you’re running and someone shoots you from the side, it will hit you in front of where you currently are because the arrow takes time to get there. But if they see it coming, they can stop moving and the arrow will fly by in front of them. That’s what this person was doing. for 2 minutes. It was one of the best laughs I’ve ever had. Anyways, most attacks can be made while you are moving, so there is no reason to stand still and be an easier target for the enemy.
(edited by Mystic.5934)
Gift of Twilight is a fairly small part of a legendary’s cost. 232g vs. 2,515g total (if you bought all the materials at buy-order price).
It’s a setback for sure, but I would suggest just making Sunrise from scratch, and hold on to the Gift of Twilight until a time in the future when you want to make it (either to sell or to use; you can choose which when that time comes)
another effect is that fine and masterwork item prices are dropping
it’s more profitable to salvage for luck.
oh.
what happens if you open coin purses and bag of gear on a level 40 or so alt? I’m guessing you get level-appropriate armor. no rares or exotics, but the mass of cotton and linen might make up for that.
I prefer to represent karma → gold conversion in terms of copper per 1000 karma.
so instead of “11500 karma/1g”, it’s 8s70c / 1000 karma
and instead of “12500 karma/1g”, it’s 8s / 1000 karma
makes it much clearer which is better, and by how much.
I use 1000 because humans tend to prefer numbers in the range of about 0-100. percentages are in this range for that very reason. temperatures as well. you see it everywhere. People just have a hard time instinctively knowing how big of a difference there is between 1.34 and 1.48 (or 4,020,000 vs. 4,440,000), but they would know the difference between 67c and 74c. Sure, you could do the math to find the percent difference, but that’s just translating that less-recognizable number into a more-recognizable one in the range of 0-100
I would use 100, except the amount of coin you get for 100 karma is so small that you can’t see good enough precision for my taste (87c/100 karma). 1000 is close enough and an exact x10 multiple that it works almost as well.
Wow… I put in 4 tickets and I had a 5th one but the Skritt stopped accepting them before I could give it to him.
I’m pretty sure I’m not going to get anything…
I guarantee you, there will be many winners by players who only turned in single-digit amounts of wrappers. If you take 100,000 players who turn 1 wrapper each, that is more chances to win than one player who turns in 21,000 wrappers.
at the GW2 1-year birthday, they released some numbers that said 3.5 million games sold and 460,000+ players online at one time. If 4 million wrappers were spread evenly over those 460,000 players, that’s 8.7 wrappers each. Since some people have 21,000 wrappers, that means a lot must have 0-3.
judging from the supply of ghastly grinning shield skins on the TP, I would say none of those prizes have been given out yet.
The Content Terms of Use may help you.
If you have something to say, you should flat-out say it. Linking to a lengthy legal document and assuming that everyone knows what part you’re talking about AND can fully and correctly understand it is … well, it’s not good communication, for starters.
There are lots of things on there, but here is one thing Gaile might of been referring to:
I’m interested in using Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 art on a website, in a project, or on a Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2 or ArenaNet fansite. What is your policy regarding copyrights and trademarks? May I use ArenaNet, Guild Wars 2 and/or Guild Wars content, such as images, text, sounds, or video?

or maybe:
May I use your art or images for items, such as clothing, toys, or other game-related goods?
Our art assets-be they concept art, in-game screenshots, verbal content, or renders-are all copyrighted materials. Their use is strictly prohibited unless approved in advance and in writing by ArenaNet. Specific questions concerning the appropriate use of our content should be directed to community@arena.net.
It doesn’t specifically say it, but I’m guessing the 2nd one is implied to say ‘goods for sale’ instead of just ‘goods’. As it’s written, when these are applied to 3d printing, I would say they conflict with each other.
Based on the first quote, just put a GW2 copyright logo under the foot of the model and you’re good to go. And apparently you can’t make changes… so your 3d print must be something direct from the game (you couldn’t move the arms to make a Y, M, C, and A pose).
If Anet ever wanted to have some sort of official department to do this for the earnings it would bring in then I for one would take advantage of it. Figurines of my own people! How cool!
There exists software that you can give it a series of pictures of an object and it turns them into a 3D model, which you could then print. I see no reason you couldn’t use screenshots for this
well… your character swishing or moving in any way might make be a good reason it wouldn’t work.
I have no idea what this software is named, and I have never used or have direct knowledge about it myself, I’ve just heard it exists… and I’m sure it’s expensive.
As for how legal it is… iuno. Gaile linked the ToU, so I’m guessing reproducing stuff from the game is covered in there somewhere, but: I would guess that as long as you aren’t selling it, Anet wouldn’t pursue you. also, how would they even know?
rough estimates say about 4 million wrappers were turned in. (Anet said something like 134 million ToT bags had dropped = 2.8 million wrappers, then add a few more for gem store and personal ToT bags, and a few more days)
that means that every wrapper has a 1 in 4,000 chance of winning.
20 would have a 1 in 200 chance of winning a skin
170 would have a 1 in 23.5 chance of winning a skin
some guy on reddit claims to have opened over a million ToT bags, which would give about 21,000 wrappers. If that’s the case, he can expect to get about 5.25 skins.
ummmm…. I’m confused. I went further into the dark room, and it started working.
I have no idea what’s going on. I went back to where I was, and it’s still working.
ummmmmmmm, well ok then. gj being on top of bug reports! fastest fix in history
I have Jormag’s Breath.
I have loved it dearly for almost 2 years.
It has never failed me before; it’s always lighted my way.

It’s not illuminating dark areas.
Both sheathed and unsheathed, it’s bugged.
I can see the sword in the dark, but neither myself or the area around me is lit up.

Please restore my baby to a useful state.
you can salvage that white item with a salvage kit to get some crafting materials you can use to make other things.
if you want to get more coin, I recommend placing a sell listing instead of instant sale (just match the lowest sell listing, or do 1c below it). for like 90% of the stuff out there, that sell listing will sell within a minute/day
it is not griefing. it’s you wanting instant coin instead of having to wait. some people make a living by accommodating to people who want everything now (flippers). if you want more coin, be patient. if you want things now, you’d pay more or get less from sales. both are perfectly acceptable.
I really wish they put all these nodes near each other in a convenient spot in all the homes. it defeats their purpose to spread them out so much.
I haven’t tried it, but do quotes work on the TP search?
like, it you search for “The Legend”, would it return only The Legend?
if I remember, I’ll try that tonight
A guildie of mine is a tank guardian. He was roaming in WvW and came across another tank guardian. They fought for like 5 minutes and neither had a dent in the other’s HP. They just /bowed and went on their way.
Just because you can’t be killed doesn’t mean you will win. It just means you won’t die. Just look at Garlic Jr.
As Wanze said.
From what I’ve tested, these are the drop rates:
light coat = 3.1 cloth scraps
light other armor = 2.1 cloth scraps
I tested it months ago, and the sample size wasn’t great (about 200 of each). So if you’re seeing 1.6, then they might of nerfed it
Or you couls go into fractals and buy one for 150 tokens. Easy enough to get after a handful of runs. All my chars are fitted out with fractal boxes.
I find that only the rare fractal bag to be useful to me. I do not like the lower rarity ones because they sort items into them when i prefer my inventory to fill from the top to the bottom, except for rare items which I get often enough and want them to stand out because I salvage them with a different kit.
you might be pleasantly surprised. I have it arranged like this:
starter
normal 20-slot bag
fractal master
fractal master
fractal rare
fractal exotic
when my bags get full, I use CFSoM to salvage everything in the top 4 bags. They could be normal bags, but fractal bags are cheaper than normal bags. also, it is a bit more convenient to know that I just salvage every single thing in bags 3 and 4, whereas I have to check what I’m salvaging in bags 1 and 2 (don’t try to salvage crafting materials, for example, otherwise it will take longer to clean up the bags)
the rare and exotic bags keep the good stuff away from the salvaging spree I go on.
like 1.5 years ago I bought about 20 stacks of superior runes and sigils for 1c higher than their merchant value, because I thought they would add this as it’s just so obvious that it should be there. I held them for about 6 months before giving up and selling to a merchant for a 50s loss. If I were to do that today, it would be a 15g loss.
I agree they should be forgeable, but I would not bet 15g on it happening. If it does happen, I recommend going to the TP and buying all superior runes and sigils under ~20s.
When I look at it, I have to do the math myself and it never matches up with any of the other websites that supposedly use the gem exchange API (and those websites never seem to match each other either.)
This is because the API is… Inconsistent.
It’s set up such that you have to ask it how many, not just a rate.
So you have to ask it: “how much gold can I get for 10 gems?”, and it’ll answer “11365” (it’s in coppers)
Then another website might ask it: “how much gold can I get for 100 gems?”, and it’ll answer, “126791”
Then another: 1000 gems = “1251849”
So every website uses a different number to sample it, so every website differs.
What’s funny is how the low numbers change as the amount goes up. 5s for 1 gem, 23s for 2 gems, 24s for 3 gems, 30s for 4 gems…
One of these days I want to graph every value from like 1-100 just for giggles
1) no, but I think you’ll have a much harder time when there are enemies to fight (you could party with some friends).
2) click ‘m’. that will open the map. scroll wheel down to zoom out. you can click and drag the mouse to move it around, then screen wheel up to zoom in. you do need some memory to remember where the cities are, and where you want to go to. every zone has way points, so you could way point to lion’s arch, get something from you bank, craft, buy salvage kits, etc., then way point back to [near] where you were. way points cost some silver, the further away it is, and the higher your character level, the more it costs (level 80 costs about 1s20c to 4s50c, level 70 is about 50c to 2s; it’s pretty cheap before level 80
)
that is all only the case if you are in the open world. If you are in an instance, you usually have to first leave that instance before you can zoom out on the map and waypoint anywhere.
let me know if you have more questions
the text search will return all matches with any of the words you search for in it. for “carrion legionaire horn of rage”, it has “of” in it.
when you first search for it, the TP will sort it by relevance. So if it finds an item with all of the words you searched for, it puts that first. items with 2 of the 3 words go next, then items with 1 of the 3 words. when you sort by price, it sorts by price instead of relevance, which is why the 1-of-3 items come first (before they happen to be cheaper)
I would also like to know when to stop hoping. Could we maybe get a dev say “All the winning mails have been sent out, thanks for playing!” when the time is right?
currently 0 new grinning shields on the TP, so I’m guessing prizes haven’t started going out yet. or maybe those are saved for last.
found a unidentified insect fossil at my 3e chest. I traded that fossil in for 3 Sandy Bags, and while opening my 2e bag
O_O what’s all this now about fossils being used for things besides making ambrite weapons??? I will have to look into it! (I have wayyy too many fossils for how many geodes I have)
They are not intended as a useful item.
They were added because the playerbase demanded the item (to be able to remove runes from items that couldn’t be salvaged).
So they gave it to us.
And we stopped demanding.
Same as we demanded more uses for excess bloodstone dust (sharpening stone station + others) and extra event tokens (blade shard vendor) and an item that makes a mesmer portal (watchwork portal device).
To be clear: I don’t believe they added all these to silence our demands, just that they weren’t intended to be in the game, but we demanded them, so they were priced for their worst case scenario. It would be too good to have an upgrade extractor cost 1g because people would them to remove melandru runes from karma items, which is the exact reason a lot of items are not salvageable to begin with, so they were priced for the most expensive things that could be removed.
I only recommend using UE on sigils of generosity and infusions of +9 or higher (or a +8 with a strength rune or something that adds up to really expensive). otherwise it’s cheaper to convert gems to gold and just buy whatever you were going to extract.

I thought it was hilarious that you have a buff in this new zone that increases your mf… only mf doesn’t do anything. It would be like giving a wxp boost while in dungeons, or precision during teq fights.
I want an ascended 22-slot bag you can craft. would probably cost about 100g worth of mats.
Technically these “free” bags are not really free if you consider opportunity cost. This is if you’re doing fractals specifically to get the bags.
you are indeed correct
Let’s see…
1 SP can be converted into 2g. could get more, but it’s harder to do and less likely, but you can definitely get 2g.
that would mean 35 relics = 2g
uncommon box is 150 relics, so that’s 8g57s
exotic box is 250 relics = 14g28s
honestly, not as much as I thought they would be when I started doing this, but not ‘free’ either.

That will let you view a live version of the trading post. You need to log in to access it, but being logged into the forums should suffice.
If you have certain game session id keys, it is possible to buy stuff from outside the game. check the API forum for how to do this – it’s not easy.

It is not possible to sell any items from outside the game.
What if you realize your odds are 0 therefor your hope and belief are 0? Does that mean I have a 100% chance to get one?
The only winning move is not to play.
Shall we play a game?
The better question to ask is…are the extra 2 slots worth 2 gold each? Nope… 18 slots + many guild banks is still a better option in my eyes.
what a wonderful question! I just answered a similar one:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Useful-Info-Cost-of-Storage/first#post4538301
I think it would fit into this section:
bag expansion with a 15-slot bag = 4g20s/space ((4 × 15g50s + 1g) / 15)
bag expansion with a 18-slot bag = 3g58s/space ((4 × 15g50s + 2g50s) / 18)
bag expansion with a 20-slot bag = 3g68s/space ((4 × 15g50s + 11g50s) / 20)
bag expansion with a 20-slot cheap bag = 3g40s/space ((4 × 15g50s + 6g) / 20)
It’s definitely the cheapest per-space option. now how about just the bag:
15-slot bag = 6s67c/space (1g / 15)
18-slot bag = 13s89c/space (2g50s / 18)
20-slot bag = 57s50c/space (11g50s / 20)
20-slot cheap bag = 30s/space (6g / 20)
you can draw conclusions

I haven’t been able to play yet. I hear the zone is small, but is it obvious that it get bigger like how dry top did?
