Heavy Halo, Warrior JQ

They are better than any other achievement meta so far… what were you expecting?
Something, anything to mark the event for the winners… Before you get excited, my world didn’t win. We got a dolyak everyone got, a title everyone got, and blue/green crap everyone got. Nothing special to mark the event… sad, poor design.
(edited by NargofWoV.4267)
yup, I feel bad for the number 1 server, not even a permanent finisher? Or a title saying season 1 best or something. A chance at a skin of some sort??? disappointing considering the effort involved.
There should have been unique skins made available to winners in these chest, something permanent for winning the season, plain and simple. A chest full of greens with a chance at an exotic I can get in an hour farming champions in Frostgorge.
Well isn’t PvE where you farm rewards and WvW where you go to fight? Or am I missing the point of WvW?
There has been a big debate about how WvW’rs are having to farm for PvE mats.. is that fair?
I’m grateful for the Tomes of Knowledge, personally.
Less time wasted leveling my new Elementalist, more time in WvW.
A lot of my guildies already have all their slots filled with level 80’s what good is a tome? I don’t plan to every make another 80 in this game, so a tome is useless to me. Personally speaking.
I want a reward at least equal to what is given out in PvE events like the Mad King, where you can get a mini and some really cool permanent skins… Instead we are going to get a mini and a chest full of greens? Really?
Nothing to do with being left out… Something permanent should have gone to the Season 1 participants and I don’t mean a mini… The reward for time spent was pretty pathetic… I spent 1/8th the time and got better rewards for the holloween event, that’s pretty sad, at least what is being posted here.
Yea we get better rewards from doing the Mad King than this 7 week haul… awful.
Here’s my opinion:
Somewhere deep down, Anet developers know that if they make WvW rewards more appealing than other areas of the game, particularly areas that are instanced or can overflow, too many reward chasers will swarm WvW and fill maps that can only handle a set number of players. This will place many PvPers who like the game mode into queues (broken queues I should point out) essentially cutting out the reason the game mode exists in the first place.
Well, they accomplished the very opposite, going forward who’s going to give a rip about doing anything in wvw with no permanent decent items for finishing near at the top or near the top. Why stay at a keep and scout for a complete failure of a heavy decent reward, may as well just tag along with the zerg. Pathetic.
Yup, I don’t see the same response to wvw going forward… The reward for those who were really caring about such isn’t worth the time.
I find it sad… that’s an awful reward for the effort put into season 1, just awful.
“Under Web.2497 – ^^ of course they will be account bound – Ascended mats always are ( your not expecting anything decent are you?) "
lol, considering what I’m seeing out of EU, I guess not.
For all the junk they’re giving out in the chests is it really a big disappointment? Nothing permanent at all that is “special”… >shrugs<
Wow, that’s a bunch of seriously disappointing stuff… Nothing permanent that say’s hey, you were there season 1?? pffft.
And hopefully the rewards are Account Bound especially since they’re going to change wvw exp to account bound.
There was no competition in any of the leagues in either NA or EU. Every league had one server that totally dominated it. It’s pretty clear Season 1 leagues were abysmal failure because Silver and Bronze leagues were dominated by servers who dropped rankings on purpose and Gold league by those who “recruited” (= bought) players from other servers.
Yea, but Anet will move the winning servers up, you watch and see. Obviously BG isn’t going anywhere, but lets see how they get dealt with in season 2.
My guess, the last place servers will move down and the first place servers will move up.
Anet still has to figure out what to do with Rangers, right now Ascended anything only effects 60-70% of a Ranger’s damage output. This will compound with Ascended armor, because our Pets do the balance of our damage and aren’t effected by a Rangers gear.
Edit: Oh hey, how about they give us the ability to find Ascended Pets? I always wanted a Dragon pet.
BG doubleteamed JQ with help from SoR the first week without any help from Za Drots at all.
Fixed you. And yes, I was there and actually listened commander communications.
That is odd, I was on SoR BL every night during NA prime that week and can’t recall that happening even once, even without cross server communication. It is almost like people will say anything to avoid admitting defeat.
Huh, I was on JQ BL that first Friday Night of Season 1, care for me to tell you what I witnessed? Really flies in the face of your comment above. And I, personally never underestimated BG, I always felt BG was our biggest competition and it proved so.
I’m pretty sure every map was filled with PvEr’s on Friday night of Season 1…
I am speaking about cross server communication and or cross server working together, which obviously happened on JQ battleground that first Friday Night, particularly at Garrison, which seemed to cross hands every 15 min or so between two servers not named JQ, with timely precision and without any fighting… how odd.
Organizing a 2v1 on a BL is extremely easy when 2 servers have a common goal. Both SoR and BG needed JQ in 3rd so as long JQ didn’t have garrison, it didn’t matter which of us had it. No direct contact is needed if the commanders are half decent and considering it was the first night of seasons, I’m sure every one had one of there best out there.
Now that said, who really knows if SoR and BG commanders were talking, we never really will but making sad excuses because you failed to hold garrison on what had to be the hardest night to do so is silly.
No, I’m responding to BAITness and his allegation he didn’t see anything suspicious, I’m reporting said suspicious behavior, like you said, I have no knowledge anything occurred as far as x server communication nor am I all that upset, because we did the same to SoR later without x server communications, which is why they’re in 4th and not 3rd. No sad excuse for not holding Garrison when double teamed. That is a fact of this game, I don’t believe any 1 server can hold a point without siege vs two complete map blobs who aren’t attacking each other, BG sure couldn’t when we chose to move on you along with TC a few times.
Edit: Oh and congrats on BG coming in first.

Good exotic gear and a bow, the ability to kite = killing champions solo, so I’m not sure what you’re looking for. Go condition build with heavy toughness/healing like Settler gear or Apothecary and don’t be dumb with your traits and your golden.
No matter my build or pet I’ve never had an issue pve’n a Ranger.
Not rezzing dead unless out of combat would only make Stealthers the required rezzers, and how are you going to handle Ranger ability to rezz by Spirit?
Also, the epic massive keep battles we have would be a thing of the past, siege on inners would rule the day, keep battles would fall to the way side completely. The massive choke point issues, coupled with double downed players would completely decimate keep taking more so than it is. Especially if they leave banner rezzing of keep lords alone.

The Anet team has spoken to this issue more than once… I seem to recall comments stating they understand the issue with WvW’rs being able to get the proper mats as easily as PvE’rs without having to PvE. And have said, fixes are being looked at to make WvW for gear near equal to PvE’n for gear.
Frankly, 90% of my Dragonite has come from WvW… >shrugs<
I do agree Badges are pretty useless at the moment.

My guess, when we do season 2, emphasis on when, Henge and Aspenwood will move up 1 bracket. Don’t think any of us on JQ think that BG is un beatable, well ok, maybe a few do, but not everyone.
well.
This presumes there are no thieves in the zerg because the second they see you on your LB they are going to know exactly what you build is and 2shot you without you even realizing it.
I get thieves going for me and bouncing right off my pvt/knights at the start of a clash all the time because foolish zerk rangers are so common they just assume we all run it.
That’s funny you say this, I run a LB Warrior and I get the thieves thinking I’m a ranger all the time, its is funny because I’m a rather tanky LB warrior. I do draw them like flies though.
$10 per month, no more… most months zero.
“Well, recently I’ve been wondering what is the best number of each class to run when running 20-25 man skill groups.
I think it mainly depends on your goal, but say it was busting big blobs, what would be a good ratio of classes to run to both stay alive and do a lot of damage. I usually run about 5-6 warriors, 4-5 guardians, 1-2 eles, 2 engineers, 1 necro, 2-3 mesmers and one ranger/thief.
Anyway, just thought i’d get some other peoples opinions on it. If you’re experienced with havoc groups, post your thoughts!

Sums up how we are thought of as Rangers in wvw.
Interestingly enough, no one mentioned any of the JQ commanders and to be honest, to me there wasn’t a single best commander… There are half a dozen I would follow without hesitation, a couple that I don’t care for their command ideas/style, but most know what they’re doing.
Part of the fault is in the achievements.
There’s no “Take or defend X” there’s only “take x”. So people often let enemies get the locations so they can capture them back.
There’s no “get bloodlust for your world”, only “get ruins”. So people got ruins and promptly abandoned them.
There’s no “score for you world”, so people ignored the score timer as just captured whenever.
Just “break walls or gates” not “Be among those who broke walls of gates on a location that got captured”.
Just “repair” not “repair structures that got defended”.
Just “take mercenary camps” not “take or destroy mercenary camps”.
The achievements must be designed to encourage victory. To give points to those who do things that directly help with victory. Instead, they can be perfectly done while letting your world lose.
As much as I loved season1, there is always room for improvement… This post was an excellent post, oh and btw my server didn’t “win”.
I say, don’t worry, Anet has the stats, they know how many folks completed which of the achievements and how many were uncompleted by the masses. It is very obvious the jump puzzles except for EB’s where the easiest with the Castle Take in EB a close second, what only 5 times or was it 4? It would flip that many times in a single night.
Obviously, killing Dolyack’s and the wall one on JQ where probably the most difficult and I would say probably the least completed of the achievement quests with sentry and camps being the next most annoying. Yes, JQ was lucky cause we had weeks of zero real effort to concentrate on taking camps and sentry points, but Dolyak’s died so quickly you often never got a chance to tag them.
Anyway, Anet will adjust for season 2, whenever that occurs.
JQ
Gold
awesome season 1, looked forward to wvw every chance I could… Didn’t before the season.
Heck yes
Skulls, dangling on a belt, or stuck on spines on the shoulders, and more skulls in sword gear or hammer gear, wouldn’t mind a two handed hammer with a skull top, like the mace in The Hobbit.
Actually warriors are getting hit pretty hard with some nerfage. We understand it, don’t like it, but what can you do?
Pretty simple really, the gods have said, thou shalt not do damage and stun targets together in one individual so effectively. Therefore, you must choose. Do 1 or the other.
If you are not using strategy with your zerg, you aren’t doing something right.
Oh and if you uncap AoE then AoE becomes the be all end all of the game. He who has the most AoE wins. Because 1 guy hitting someone for 500 dmg will loose to the team AoE’n the guy plus 39 of his friends for 20,000 (that’s 500 × 40)per AoE’r.
No one would WvW with any type of good gear if that was the case. Not a good idea as it would just make the game lame.
and lol @dagraan. Insta gibbed? If any class is insta gibbing you, you need a new spec. Even the strongest 1 shot skill in the game, kill shot, shouldn’t be able to insta gib you.
Yup, that’s what happened in UO, everyone basically used crafted gear (much easier to acquire than in any other mmo I’ve played) and crafted weapons. Left everything else in your house, keep, castle, or bank.
1 on 1 ranger can be tough, but sadly, if you spec a ranger for 1 v 1, he will be at a serious disadvantage with everything else you chose to do in wvwvw.
Heh, all I keep thinking is history repeats itself. You would have loved UO. That’s exactly what happened. You died and everything from your armor and weapons down to your runes and potions lay on the ground to be rummaged threw.
Edit: Oh yea, and in the original Diablo as well, plus 1/2 of all your gold.

I truly don’t understand, as much as I rag on the ranger class, I have never had a problem “speed” running any dungeons, except I haven’t been in Arah. But we speed run a lot of dungeon paths in our guild and I have never been excluded and am often sought out. And, yea, I use a lb, but I do come in for buffs or to drop Healing Spring on the melee types.
>shrugs<
Seriously, speed runs are more about knowing where to stand, when to stand, know the fights and a big chest at the end. When is buffing all that critical? Heck we speed run FoTM at least at my low level (don’t spend a lot of time in there, but when I do).

If I were going to run zerg with my Ranger, I would probably go with a high healing, some sort of bow with piercing arrow and a pet that takes condition and allows you to move. Add to it Entangle, troll ungent and go have fun.
Seeing how SOR/BG 2v1 of JQ in week 1 prevented them from securing a Season 1 win, I wouldn’t be surprised if JQ goes hard against SOR the entire week as payback. Will be an interesting week for sure.
Week 1 was normal jq/sor/bg play – it’s always like that with the 3 of us, and it’s the best. The most fun a wvwer can get. There is no 2v1 because its all 2v1 to each server at all times on all maps, and we love it.
I’m tingling just waiting for week 7 when the 3 of us are hitting each other with (i hope) every thing we’ve got, and hats off to BG, we won’t let you get off being undefeated without a bloody nose. ><
That’s the spirit.
honestly I think warriors shouldnt be condition based..
conditions are boring and I would like to see its getting nerfed for a small part, but a buff on power stats for sword atleast.Warriors run weapons for raw/crit damage, it just doesn’t make sense to hit like a kitten but bleed you to dead.. its not a warrior style :-P
I still like sword and longbow because they are hybrid weapons, but its getting the wrong way to its conditions.. make it more power based.Anet can’t make a weapon like the LB with its current AoE goodness into a power based weapon, it would make it too strong. Cond. dmg can be nullified, while crit/pwr can not as easily, especially vs. softer targets. Which is one reason why the rifle is so 1 dimensional, single target strong, but generally useless in wvw.
Actually you got it all wrong there
It,s quite the oposite, condi is op and power is the underdog.Bow woudnt be as decent if it werent for condi.Power builds need to drop all their vitality and toughness to make damage resulting that even condi builds wich are (pure tank mode hence you damage is greatly reduced on them too) do a lot of physical damage on you on top of the condition meltdown.
I’ve seen the problem with straight high damage ranged weapons before in prior MMO’s… When people start insta dying to power built ranged weapons with AoE, people start complaining. While Cond. dmg is powerful, it isn’t instant death, folks have a chance to react. You load up power ranged weapons with high hit numbers and large (5 limit) groups of folks, you will hear screams on these boards.
Imagine 5k crits on 5 guys, that’s 25k worth of damage on one AoE instantly. No weapon can/should match that, but if they tick 25k worth of damage over 5 seconds (not that it does that much) where someone can plop a cond. removal or a guardian can, its much less noticeable.
Note: Those aren’t real numbers, I was using that as an illustration only.

Warriors shouldn’t be using range in WvW, you should consider another profession or stick with melee.
Heh, warrior IS the best class to run a LB with. Condition build.
It is all I use in PvE and WvW, well, until I swap out my s/wh for the buffs mentioned above. Totally useful in keep work both D and O, especially when adrenaline is full up, the F1 LB skill is extremely useful, particularly when you have another AoE to follow it up with and a 3rd kinda one to use on its heels.
Healing spring nerf won’t help our cause… With PuG’s heck and even guild groups I still surprise folks with healing spring, which I will run up and cast on the melee guys then back off to range a target. I’ve often heard comments about perfect timing on that healing spring to the Ele when it was in fact my spring they were complimenting, and some ele have been kind enough to point that out.
I never felt useless in dungeons, there was a time when I did in certain fractal fights that just flat out killed a pet on aggressive.
I do believe it is perception and not reality that folks are down on the Ranger in dungeon runs.
Well BG wins because of 2v1. I have never seen BG fight alone, JQ is always 2v1’d. Terrible win by BG. Boring match watching a BG and SoS zergs just sit there all friendly not fighting each other.
Oh my gosh.
When we logged in Monday, we noticed there was a 2k PPT difference between BG and JQ and we (my guild) decided, “Hey, we can actually make an impact in this match if we push on BG and try to even it out”. Well, we felt some sort of moral obligation to our homeland and decided to get back the North half from BG. So we start pushing on garrison and immediately draw BG and JQ. We try to disengage JQ to say, “hey we are willing to work with you guys”. But instead, JQ chose to cap our NW tower while we were fighting BG.
We wiped, took our NW tower back, wiping JQ. Pushed on Garrison again, JQ came up behind us again and engaged while we were fighting BG, wiped us and took our NW tower again. On our next push, JQ wiped and there was a big battle with BG in the area between NW tower and Garrison, that’s when JQ snuck in Watergate and capped our garrison.
So we came in on Monday ready to work with JQ to push on BG, we really wanted to make Week 7 interesting for BG, JQ and SoR. However, JQ didn’t want to play ball so we did it FFA style, so don’t whine now that it seems like you are getting 2v1’d, you decided you wanted to push on SoS instead of just trying to take PPT from BG, deal with it.
PS. That fight last night at NW camp on JQ BL was awesome, I wish you could have heard our TS when we all shifted counter-clockwise in location.
Really? You wish to know why? Try this, I got into EB on Friday start of the season.. Ran to our Commander moved out had to wheel around to fight BOTH BG and SOS off of our Spawn keep… Oddly enough, neither was fighting the other. BG broke the door down, charged in, got wiped, SoS then charged in and got wiped, BG then took their turn… Then SoS.
As the evening progressed all we got was SoS blocking our attempts at going after BG, SoS did nothing but Circle the castle, didn’t try to take it from BG, just kept us from trying to take it.
Don’t come here and complain about how JQ is treating you now that you finally decide you want to fight BG.

Hmm, now that would have been an interesting signet on a Legendary Bow, cut the cd time of Mistfirewolf in half.
Rifles are pretty much useless on most classes that have them. Warriors are screaming for a Rifle buff…. Just not practical to have a slow firing, heavy hitting, single target weapon with a bad telegraphed animation in the fast fluid world of WvW.
Dev’s have said they like the animation, there are a lot of folks that like the animation, they’re not changing anything.
At the end of it all, I did enjoy 1 on 1 work with my Ranger, alas that wasn’t what I was doing most often in WvW. Therefore, I switched classes.
is the rifle that bad? why?
I just rolled a rifle/gs warri (lvl 24). I am interested
Long cast time in 1 v 1 fights = bad, lack of AoE makes the LB much better in keep work defense and offense, Zerg battles again, better AoE on LB compared to Rifle, but you have a GS so …
It is too limited in its scope… very single target ish. Even when I pve’d I didn’t like it as much as other weapons. I would much rather group up 3-4 mobs and bring them all down together using a sword or GS than a Rifle.
