Please, could anyone enlighten me, what is the problem exactly?
If you see someone forming a Speed Run team only consisting of certain classes and certain gear, why would you complain about it? I mean, if you dont want to join a team like this, just don’t, no one’s forcing you to. If you want you’re free to form a team slightly slower consisting of any 5 classes…
So WHAT’s THE PROBLEM?
So, could anyone fill me up with what happened?
Haven’t played or been in GW2 for 1+ week.?
TC Tier One? KN and FA stays Tier Two?
Was someone from Arena NEt in this thread? What did he/she say?
Please, even without the Zerker pinging, I would not want to play in a team filled with a bunch of noobs who constantly fail and waste my time.
Get over it and get better.
Wait! What a joke, you cant get better in GW2. There are still bad players with Zerker gear.
“As a structure, the MMO has lost the ability to make the player feel like a Hero. Everybody around you is doing the same thing you’re doing. The boss you just killed respawns 10 minutes later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
Sums it up perfectly. Is boring, repetitive and, did I mention boring and repetitive?

Cities are way too empty, that’s my issue.. Of course except for LA.
Why build so huge cities when no one ever goes there.
I’d love to see hard challenging battles that doesn’t involve zerging a stationary boss for 5 minutes while getting randomly one shot by an unblockable attack.
Guardian is my main.
Full Cleric armor + Ascended rings.
I deal s!*t for damage (3-3.5k AoE GS skill) and really no one needs my heal when I’m playing with pugs – Dungeons and FoTM.
Started a Warrior a week ago, because glass cannons is the way to go in this game.
Damage > Everything else.
So, what you’re saying, you never created anything unique and only played the latest and best PvX build? (Outside Elite Missions/Speed Runs) ?
Well of course there was no diversity whatsoever in GW1 then.
Now I understand. That explains everything, People saying GW1’s skill system was boring and full of dead skills were the ones who never ever experimented or tried innovating anything. Kinda explains why they prefer GW2’s skill system now.
You’re talking about Elite Zones, the most optimal builds had only the cookie cutter skills.
Outside of them you could run anything you wanted to, literary.
To add, GW1 had more meta builds. Each profession had more than 15+ great working meta builds.
TDLR and Thread -
GW2’s combat system IS BETTER than GW1’s combat system – more active, less static.
GW1’s skill system IS BETTER than GW2’s skill system – less restrictive, endless options and skill synergies, more creative, has more depth and strategic aspects.
REGARDLESS OF THAT some people don’t want more “strategic” skill system, they just want to log in and kill s-!t without thinking much or caring, aka casuals.
Vayne, You’re probably the biggest arena net /gw2 fanboi i’ve seen here, go play GW2, because it’s so great and flawless.
@ Vayne.
Are you here 24/7 on this forum posting how everything about GW2 is great?
Your bias is far too obvious.
Of course GW1 had flaws, it wasn’t perfect, far from it, but please, take your head out of your – and think and compare GW1 to GW2, skill system.
(edited by Nick.6972)
Why not? I remember my friend buying like 40 T3 Norn armor pieces for like 1k karma when game launched (BUG). Too bad I didn’t have any karma back then.
The more revealing the better for females, yet also keeping them stylish and somewhat realistic.
I will repeat: I am not saying that every person on the team must have these skills. I am saying that if these skills were removed, PvE (I only considered Hardmode when ever talking about PvE) would not be doable. I maintain that.
What is this – ? Were you one of those W/Mo with Mending Healing Breeze Frenzy and Healing Signet angry at people asking to play better?
Seriously, what is this bs. Have a good day, don’t reply.
UA wasn’t the only viable monk build in PvE.
HB was, WoH was, ZB, numerous of Protection builds, Smiting Builds.
That alone makes at least 6+ Viable builds for one class and without secondary profession.
Yeah, well, that and my monk was my main for 5 years.
Both PvE and PvP.
- GW1 was not as diverse as people make it out to be
- GW2’s diversity comes from a variety of classes, GW1 came from 1300+ skills (12 .
Please name the team set up which only used 12 skills across all 8 players with different classes and which worked both in PvE – UW/FoW/DoA/Dungeons and competitive PvP – HA and GvG.
I’ll be waiting. Please don’t speak if you don’t know what you’re talking about.
“THE FOLLOWING 5 SKILLS (1. Shadowform, 2. Signet of Spirits, 3. Protective Spirit, 4. Discord, and 5. Unyielding Aura) make up OVER 90% of PvE in GW1. That’s not disputable. I challenge you to have an effective team without any of those skills.”
“I’ll be talking strictly from a PvE stand point”
Please run " UW/FoW/DoA/Dungeons" without using Shadow form, Sliver Armor, UA, or Protective spirit. I’ll wait.
Read and chill dude…read and chill.
Answer me how do you make up a team consisting of 8 player who only use 12 SAME SKILLS out of all 1000 skills.
Plus, Discord was only used in teams with 4+ Necros, and it didn;t work completely everywhere.
Healing Seed or Seed of Life were more viable options for PvE in speed runs than PS unless you’re thinkinh about meta game 2006-7.
UA was the best skill but HB was also equally good (Combined with the 2 skills named above).
SoS was certainly the best RT skill.
Meta builds were bound to elite ares as implied already before, no one forced you to run the newest hottest PvX build in regular missions, and almost never Hard Mode.
AND EVEN SO the build for Urgoz SC was different from UW SC and DoA SC and FoW SC, that already makes up 4 different team set ups alone.
Please just go to PvX and check all the “the best” builds for each profession and then come back.

If we had hundreds of working trait lines then I’d agree, no skills really need to be added, but unfortunately -
Imagine a Guardian Trait that makes GS skills ranged, Elementalist Trait that makes all water skills burn, etc…
Even so, apart from Perma Sin, meta game was almost always changing with the regular skill balanced and changes.
As of now, we’ll have same builds, same skills and same fight styles till GW2 dies and nothing will ever change.
Most of the classes/skills in GW2 are not balanced too, GW1 wasn’t balanced, but at least it offered more diversity, hell, how hard was it to increase the Shadow Form CD to 1 minute as it was back in 2007?
Combat and skill system lacks depth and customization.
And read this Q&A, I find this funny, they’re basically saying they acknowledge the problems, but they won’t change anything. They know what players want but they won’t do it. http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/1109-qa-with-jonathan-sharp-and-jon-peters/
Now, I dont want to be disrespectful, but please …
I wouldn’t say GW2 is boring, but neither is it exactly fun.
I play it just because I have nothing better to play.
I log in, stand in LA thinking what I should do, and that’s because I’ve already done everything.
Agree.
GW2’s combat feels so much watered down compared to GW1’s combat, same goes for skills.
I don;t think I have ever encountered a hard battle in GW2, both Dungeons and FoTM.
Also, what happened to “Thousands of cross Profession Combos” they promised before GW2 launched?
It was epic when I played it for the first time, Dragon Event, JorLAG.
But after that, and tons of awful drops and wasted time…
I think I rather go do a Fractal Run.
Guild Wars 2 Manifesto Trailer ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35BPhT-KI1E )
Which are the things that you loved in GW1 that are also in GW2, except for the lore and no monthly fees?
-Makes an entire game around the concept of getting rid of the trinity and dedicated healers.
-Players ask for dedicated healing class and more trinity features.
I’m sure that there’s an AreanNet Dev/GM/Mod repeatedly smashing their head against a wall right now.
“Hey I swung a sword, I swung a sword again. We don’t want you to do that in Guild Wars 2”
Totally agree. Wait…+1
Winner No. 1. I’m going to look for that YouTube video.
Oh Manifesto. Makes me laugh.
“Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1…”

Have you ever wondered why it’s called HOLY TRINITY?
Has anyone ever tried reinventing a wheel?
I agree, I may get boring, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not working perfectly.
Take these 3 roles and add 5 more. Why not?
(edited by Nick.6972)
Ignore the trinity. Why not 1) Frontline 2) Midline 3) Backline. As in GW1’s PvP.
Never mind, with the current system that would never work.
Everyone’s a DPS till the end of GW2.
And isn’t that pre premise and ideology of GW2?
Everyone’s equal?
Sounds familiar to some real life systems.
(edited by Nick.6972)
I switch to my staff/shield and mace and have 3200 Toughness, that doesn’t make me a tank either.
Yes, partially healer, tank and support, but it all mixed together in one big bleh.
Would be nice to fully spec into non attacking backline healer/supporter only.
Not to mention, I PERSONALLY would like an option to remove some attack skills for extra utilities.
support Guardian or Heal Ele is bs.
Aaaand you just insulted a whole bunch of people. GL going into Arah and CoE with high DPS only.
I can Heal better with my full cleric armor and full ascended ring set.
Does that make me a healer? Hell no. Bs.if you were healing spected and wearing that gear though your healing on yourself would be vastly improved. The healing you can do to others is about 25% of what you can do while healing yourself. It’s that way because there are no dedicated roles. However it doesn’t mean that a healing spected Ele or a well specked necro doesn’t bring help into a group.
I am spected like that on my Guardian and I do run high level fractals and Dungeons, quite frankly I don;t feel like a Healer even with Staff and Shield/Mace. Hell, I would rather change my rins and armor runes for something that deals more damage.
And my main both in PvE and PvP in GW1 was a Monk.

Sylvari are Elves with plants allover their bodies, Asuras are different looking Dwarfs.
No MMO is MMO without Elf and Dwarf looking creatures.
I would rather it would not go to trinity. Ever. You can still heal as a heal dedicated character and you can still tank just fine using your utility blocks, dodges and piling toughness on yourself. I like not being forced into a role.
Toughness scales poorly, endurance runs out quickly if you like to dodge, and all blocks are associated with significant cooldowns rather than passives :[
you don’t dodge at random, you time your dodges, yes, there’s cooldowns, that’s why you use your abilities in an intelligent manner instead of spamming them. It also helps to learn the bosses mechanics so you would know when to dodge, when to block, etc.
The problem is being able to see the boss mechanics in the first place.
how is every boss having their own pattern that you need to figure out even a problem?
If you have to ask that question, it’s obvious you’ve never played a melee class in this game or you’ve played it solely in the ranged mode.
Particle effects make it impossible to see boss mechanics when playing melee.
Im sorry?
Say that again?Never played melee in this game…
I have a thief…
I also have a dual dagger Elementalist, Do you know how close and in your face dual dagger eles have to be?
Yeah… if I’m playing squishy classes with low hp pools of their levels, I dont see how a Warrior with high HP and exponentially higher Armour rating cant survive.
And you don’t see a problem here.
Great screenshot, GW2 combat at its finest. Zerging.
They took the trinity, and removed Tanking and HEaling and left ONLY DPS.
I repeat. There’s only DPS is this game., support Guardian or Heal Ele is bs.
I personally don;t care about the plot, GW2 could be about anything for all I care.
I am personally Interested in epic battles and fights only. Some evil dragon and zombie lore doesn’t interest me. Of course GW1 was different, well, cause it was much much more interesting.
“Nerf” The Dungeon, not the classes.
Make it harder.
Warriors SHOULD deal more damage than any other profession.
Guardians SHOULD have more survivability than any other profession.
The point is, every profession should be unique and be capable of doing thing or two better than the other 7 professions.
It’s just stupid to ask for everyone do deal the same amount of damage, have equal heals etc.
Take the trinity and expand on it, add 5 more roles on already existing 3.
Provide me statistics that prove your statement, otherwise, I might as well claim that 45% of the GW2’s playerbase think COD is a better game, 34.67% Plan on quitting to play Runescpae and rest of the people are bots.
Oh please, Im not evan a hardcore player, I don’t play more than 2 hours a day, and I ( I ) hate playing dungeons slowly, I want o finish them as fast as its possible and get the reward.
If you don’t like it and you only prefer “casual” things or the journey or the immerssion , go to Queensdale and listen to the NPCs talking or something.
Dont speak for everyone. And your friends or guild doesn’t count as everyone in the game.
Everyone’s a generic DPS in GW2, the most useful professions are those that deal the most DPS.
Fractals are far from challenging, maybe it’ll be for the first 3 Levels.
And after the Ascended Gear, what next? What’s the point of it?
I really want to make another character, but I don’t want to go through all the zones and do hearts/events again, plus pretty much all the zones are dead anyway and thus its extremely boring.
I heard it was rather easy to level up with Crafting, but it takes around 80g.
Any suggestions?
Is it even possible to get L80 in like 20 hours and less without crafting? If I recall correctly, my first character took around 70 hours to level up.
And sorry if this is in the wrong section.
What you want for “end game” ArenaNet doesn’t believe in. I would just stick to WoW or try Rift, this game wasn’t made for someone who enjoys end game content or raiding, it was made for the journey.
What journey? I’ve done all the dungeons and all the /maps/hearts/POIs and I never again want to go through them ever again, that’s why I only have one main character.
Is wondering around doing nothing or sitting in LA a journey then what the hell.
I’m PERSONALLY not asking for better reward, I PERSONALLY want UW/FOW like HARD dungeons which can’t be done with bad players/crying casuals.
That alone would be better than the entire Fail and Frost.
How come I respect and don’t go bashing people and threads who like Super Adventure Box? Why can’t other people do the same thing?
So why can’t you dedicate 1% of the game for people like me who wants challenge?
99% of the everything else can be filled with Super Adventure Boxes for all I care.
I mean, really just 1% which will be played for years to come like UW or FoW was.
People should look at that content and think “That’s Epic! I want to be there one day too!” and then they gradually become better and better… and then they are able to do it.
