Why would you complain about the difficulty of 100CM if you’ve only done it twice?
It took me about a week of daily 2 hour 100CM to learn and master all mechanics.
I’ve finished the 100CM fractal over 10 times already.
People who gave up on it initially should give this fractal another try. Fixed bugs have made this fight much more easier. Also, what I’ve noticed – high DPS is extremely important, it makes bosses much more easier.I Tried it today It’s not made for Ranger
What do you mean? Healer druids are always in demand and I just did a regular 100cm run yesterday with some sort of a power/Condi ranger.
i was dropped by 5 groups even though i had a complete set up food and all so idk you tell me why are they advertising in LFG and kicking peeps as soon as they join
And what build did you run?
What kind of a group did you join?
Do you know all the mechanics?
If you joined a team requiring experienced players without fully knowing the fractal and on top of it all dealing poor damage or heals, the blame is on you.

I’d pay real money for a decent “skimpy” heavy armor set.
By that I mean, armor set that shows more skin, isn’t bulky or covered in 100 spikes.
Something like Phalanx armor set, which funnily enough was the last skimpy heavy armor set, and it was released in 2013.
As far as I know, you even if you have the gold, crafting all pieces cannot be done in a single day. Also, if you have no Laurels, Guild Tokens or haven’t put time into playing Living Story maps, ascended accessories are a bit time consuming to get.
It is alt unfriendly mechanic.
Even if you’re an active Fractal player (like me) if you don’t want to craft Ascended armor you have to rely on RNG drops – trinkets, rings and backpack take time to get too
In the end, even if you have been doing Fractals since day 1 (like me), if you don’t have ascended armor and accessories saved up in bank, creating an alt to play Fractals takes time.
Yes, getting infusions, armor and accessories is not difficult, but more often than not it seems like it’s a time gate mechanic
You have to agree though that Agony is not alt friendly mechanic.

You can always join CM Title groups saying that you know all mechanics and that if you fail they are free to kick you. That’s what I did before I had finished 100 CM.
The most easiest way of dodging red balls is by using the given hot key.
On Arkk, when you see the red balls appear over his head, after it disappears, wait about 2/3 second and use the hot key.
Alternatively, get someone with good reflects – Ele, Mesmer ect.
How can this skill be improved?
This is my fairly easy to implement change:
Signet Of Courage
Passive: Periodically heal allies in the area around you while in combat.
Active: Fully heal nearby allies.
Active Heal: 100%
Passive Heal: 425 (0.25)
Number of Targets: 5
Healing Interval: 5s
Passive Radius: 450
Active Radius: 1,200
Cast time: 1.5s
Normal mode should be doable by anyone without much difficulties.
Challenge mode should requite good knowledge of mechanics and team play.
I’ve yet to play NM of Shattered Observatory, but after my first successful run of 100CM 2 weeks ago, I’ve been doing 100CM just about every day since without any problems.
Firebrand
I thought the focal point of the profession would be Tomes, but long cast times and cooldowns doesn’t allow proactive game play. Furthermore, as restrictive as the Tomes are, their effects (especially Tome of Resolve) feels subpar to Healing other professions provide.
They need to reduce CDs on F2/3 Tomes. Or all tomes.
I’ve finished 100CM about 6 times so far.
Assuming you get people who know all mechanics and know how to play their class properly, at this point, it’s faceroll.
Unfortunately, you have to become semi-elitists and ask for title to get people like this.
100CM is nearly perfect at this point, and should be left as it is.
As for normal mode, if people can’t do it, then it should be adjusted.

Maybe more realistic approach.
Cast time of Tomes: 1/4 second.
Cooldown of Tomes: 25/35/65. (when traited: 21/30/55).
Page regeneration: 1 page in 1 second.
This way, assuming you have also traited additional pages, when tome is used, if you spam just the #1 skill, you get 17 casts (7.5 seconds).

If I recall correctly, devs said that Firebrand went through many iterations and changes during the development.
I guess they just didn’t know what to do with Guardian, but I wonder what made them stop at what we have now.
I think PoF proved that players are more interested in GW1 related expansions than new areas – HoT.
Cantha needs to come back.
Lets make a constructive thread discussion how tomes could be improved.
Here’s my opinion.
- All Tomes take 1/2 second to cast.
- Tomes have no cooldown.
- Pages are shared between all tomes – by default you get 5, traited 8 – if you use tome skill #1 you lose 1 page, if you switch to other tome, you still have 4 pages.
- Tome skill #1 – 1 page, Tome skill #2 – 2 pages, Tome skill #3 – 3 pages, etc.
- Tome pages regen – 1 page in 1 second.
Unfortunately I don’t see Arena Net making any last moment adjustments to PoF elite specializations.
Beta doesn’t mean anything, it’s just there for PR and to serve as an advertisement. I guess the most severe bugs will also be fixed.
The way I see it, for the first few months, half a year, Arena Net will stubbornly ignore all feedback and make no changes.
Is it high skill high reward though?
I mean, other professions have “lower” skill cap and better effects.
Jack of all trades master of none.
Need healer? Get Druid.
Need tank? Get Warrior.
Need support? Get Chrono.
I mean, I’m not the best player in the game, and maybe i’m missing something here, but – why would I ever want to use Mantras?
Lets say I’m doing 99CM, I ran out of matras – do I just stop attacking and recast all of them – do nothing for like 5-6 seconds?
I’m EU player playing on NA server.
When I make LFG, I cannot see it, however people can join my party – and when that happens, these players are from EU servers.
Has happened quite a lot recently, and 3 times today.
No idea what could be the cause, but I’m certain it’s not on my end.
Edit. When I close the client and log in again, the issue seems to be resolved.

Wall of Reflect and Spirit Shield Weapon pre patch were not working for Guardian. F3 however was.
Instant cast, but slower initial attack would be a decent middle ground.
I tried running Sword in Fractals – too clunky and slow, ended up dropping it really fast.
Can Anomaly still spawn during the Bloom phase?
Haven’t played myself yet, but, is 100CM the same as before but without bugs now or are there other adjustments to difficulty, phases?
Here’s a question from someone who does not play WvW/PvP at the moment:
In PvE, apart from some open world events – why would you ever want to even use Staff?
Does the latest patch actually open up any new interesting and viable builds?
From the looks of it, it seems nothing has changed for guardian.
Same GS + Scepter/Focus or GS + Scepter/Torch as usual with nothing new.
Signet trait is interesting, but I don’t see it being a major game changer for guardian.
Seems alright changes, nothing too amazing. The thing I dislike the most is the long cast time. 1/2 or lower would be much better.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I know, CM has never been requirement to complete daily.
Here’s a question;
Should 100 Challenge Mode be doable by anyone and everyone, or those who are willing to spend time learning all intricacies and master all mechanics?
Is it even a challenge mode if I can spend 1-2 hours and become master at it and start facerolling it on daily basis?
Shattered Observatory is easy both on NM and CM – the first 2 boss encounters and third untill Arkk hits the 40% HP zone. Up until Arkk, this new Fractal is very doable to an average Pug group assuming everyone knows mechanics to some extent.
First 2 bosses are extremely easy to do with good team. Assumign they iron out all the bugs on Arkk, it becomes more possible to do.
Finally managed to win Arkk on 100CM. Platform drop phase started after the last Orb phase, which made everything somewhat easier.
Also, thanks for the advice on Guardian.
What about reflects for red orbs? Should Wall Of Reflection also be taken? It seems really unreliable. Should other professions in party take care of that?
Also I’ve been thinking – on below 40% phase – should everyone stick closely together?
Ignore mechanics?
“Retreat!” – block red orbs?
“Stand Your Ground!” – avoid gravity circles?
Interesting, worth giving a try tomorrow.
I’m really perplexed as to how some people have killed Ark on 100CM already more than “x” times.
Today I spent 3 more hours with a team on 4 other people who have done 100CM – who have the title, and yet we still couldt beat the boss or get him down to even 20%.
Is there some ultra specific team composition one must use?
Getting to 40% mark is easy, but afterwards everyone just start dying.
I don’t know what I could be missing at this point, some secret tech that makes everything easier?
Our team wasn’t bad, we could dodge, manage DPS to avoid anomalies in orb phase, mitigate incoming damage with heals, kill the 2 mini boss, but when the 40% Mark hits, everyone just wipes.

No need is needed, unintentional mechanics, and bugs, glitches should be removed though.
Adding another 3 hours. Still no kill. What I’ve noticed that it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to form a 100CM pug party , not even my PvE raiding/Fractal guild wants to do it.
In my opinion, if this becomes a Fractal that can’t be pugged, there’s a problem – 99CM groups are easily formed.
Hey Cameron, maybe I overreacted yesterday a bit too much.
I absolutely love the new fractal, and I’m not asking for downgraded difficulty – the Challenge Mode should be challenging, especially scale 100.
Having collected my thoughts, I think it comes down to two things:
- The most common bugs that appear both here and on Reddit should be ironed out.
- Assuming Anomaly spawning during the CC/Orb phase is intentional, there should be some sort of a visible indicator for it.
Can be seen in this gallery. http://imgur.com/a/KBwBS
Still unsure how the tome and page mechanic works though.
There was a Reddit thread with compilation of CM Arkk bugs, I can look it up later on my home computer.
Also, as for slowing down DPS. It’s irrelevant that it’s common in other games – not everyone plays them, personally, GW2 is the only game I play.
If it’s intended design – slowing down of DPS, there should be some message, prompt or visible indication that if you’re party continues to DPS too much, it will trigger additional phase – something happening for seemingly no reason whatsoever is not a good design.
Anomaly should not be spawning during our b phase, as far as I know, that was confirmed on Reddit by devs. 2/3 phases at the same time is not intended. That can be mitigated using some weird tactics like slowing down DPS near correct % of Arkk, that doesn’t make the bug ok though, not at all.
As for other mentioned bugs, they’ve also been mentioned both here, and on Reddit and can be seen on YouTube.
I’m glad you never encountered any of it, but bug and mechanic RNG is not a good design – and I’m not talking about difficulty at all.
I’m close to giving up.
Countless of bugs, glitches.
- Anomaly spawns during the orb phase.
- Arkk attacking during the orb phase.
- Arkk attacking during the orb phase while Anomaly spawns.
- Anomaly spawns during Ark CC phase.
- Orb phase triggering twice.
- Two or three orbs on same person.
- Orbs tethered to dead team mates.
- Bomb and Green AOE on same person.
- Bomb killing team even if the player is in dome.
- Double orb phase.
- Fear eye triggering twice.
- Players getting stuck into floor.
- Anomaly spawning on inaccessible platform – between outer aoe between pillars.
- etc.
And a cherry on top of it all is the platform drop phase, which at this point, it seems to me that the boss is doable only if Arkk buggs out and it starts late – around 10-15%.
Even if Arena Net fixes the bugs and changes the floor drop phase to what it is intended to be triggered at (40%) I don’t see this fractal, especially CM, being played by the average pug groups on LFG, not at least much. Personally, as someone who plays Fractals regularly, after I get my title, I will stay away from this fractal.
All in all, first two bosses are fine and balanced, third boss glitch galore with mechanics stacked on mechanics with additional mechanics just for the sake of it.
As far as possible adjustments go, the only thing I personally believe that should be done is either removing Anomaly from platform drop phase or making platform drop phase be the last triggering at below 10 or 15%. This way Arkk still stays a lot more difficult than 99 CM final boss while staying doable to average experienced pug group.

Was just said on steam – “like kits” and each ’’kit’’ gives something distinct – healing/condi/dps.
Shattered Observatory Fractal 100 Challenge Mode
1) Floor drop phase – when should it start triggering? At what health % of Arkk.
At the moment it’s all over the place – anywhere between 0 and 40%.
If this is intended design – how does one make the floor drop phase start at much lower health of the boss?
2) The phase the orbs must be led into 4 pillars – is it a bug or RNG to have Anomaly appear during this phase? Same applies to CC phase of the boss.
3) Is it intended design for Anomaly to spawn on inaccessible place – no floor and next to damage area between pillars?
4) Should Arkk be able to attack during orb phase?
