Don’t you get achievement for completing the new 100CM?
- How do you make them lock onto you? Proximity is said to be the answer but, sometimes orbs seem to completely ignore you.
- At what intervals do pillar orbs spawn? What percentage?
- Assuming there’s some set interval during when the orbs spawn – before the orbs spawn, should all party members split – one on each side?

Our team had no experience with regular or CM mode for the new Fractal (scale 100). We went in and gradually learned all the mechanics and with each attempt got better. In the end, it took about 3 hours or so, but it was extremely fun – changing builds, traits, professions, coming up with new strategies, etc.
Now, of course, not every one has time for it, and I consider myself quite casual player ( playing about an hour a day on average), but I don’t see the problem in asking players to learn new gameplay mechanics or asking them to be more aware of their surroundings, having team communication.
Are there any groups out there that are doing silent raids run or groups that do not require you to talk?
I have full ascended gear and I’m currently enjoying my time in FOTM Tier 4, and I’d love to be able to do raids, however my biggest obstacle is that I do not want to have to talk to anyone (in voice) – no reason as to why, but I just don’t like talking with completely random strangers.
Why? It’s been 5 years. Is it really that difficult to make incremental upgrades to spirit weapon skills to make them at least somewhat usable and viable?
What about completely reworking them? They’ve remade other skills, why not spirit weapons given how Arena Net has shown no interest buffing them?
Apart from Shield, at no point while playing my Guardian for over than 1500 I’ve wanted to use any other spirit weapon skills.
Help me understand.

I hope mounts can also be used in core Tyria.
And I assume they’ll be disabled in cities like LA.
It gets better. Apparently, the fact that we barely took down a weakened human god in GW1 – Abaddon, doesn’t matter anymore. Screw that. Out heroes are capable of soloing Balthazar. Wonderful continuity.
Could anyone PM me spoiler?
Seems kind of a boring looking armor, then again, that’s just my opinion.
Could someone post their Graphic settings? In LA, people said they’re getting much better FPS than me on lower spec computers. I can’t figure out why my performance is so low.
System Specs:
CPU: i5 6600k OC 4.7GHZ
GPU: r9 390x
RAM: 16 gb
OS: Windows 10
Latest drivers from AMD.
Usually I wouldn’t ask such a question, but before I reinstalled my Windows on SSD, when I was playing GW2, I was getting rather poor frame rate – it would fluctuate between 30-55 FPS in LA and large scale open world events were unbearable.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Voted QoL instead of scoring because I don’t want the game marginalize my contribution because I play from EU on NA server.
Any ETA on how many years we have to wait for next ’’balance’’ patch?
Wasn’t there already a poll with around 90% voting for Alpine BLs here somewhere on forums?
Here are my two cents – I’d wish to see the old Alpine maps back, that being said, I also believe if population issue were to be fixed, and if the GW2 infrastructure allowed it, if you were to increase the player cap on the Desert BL, to say 150+ (each side), maybe that could temporary ‘’fix ’’ the inherit map issues.
I quit more than a year ago, right around the time the expansion was announced – I was primary a WvW and FoTM player with over 1800 ( playing since first open beta ) hours behind my back. I never played open word PvE and neither did I play Living Story, never bothered to even finish personal story beyond level 20 something, futhermore, I never cared about sPvP.
Should I return, or should I wait for more substantial additions to the game? I really dont want to pay around 30 euro just to get bored after few hours of gameplay.
People are already adapting – either by quitting or playing much, much less,
I haven’t touched GW2 for more than a year now. As far as I recall, they revealed the new map quite far into development, and it didn’t take a hardcore player to see that it was bound to horribly fail. How does Arena Net imagine fixing and overhauling WvW without active player and developer interaction from the early on?
Quite frankly, I just wish they would sink the ship faster at this point, make the game mode more PvE oriented than it is right now and be over with it – stop torturing people.
I’m more interested into seeing 2016 Q1 and Q2 overall sales compared to 2015 Q1 and Q2 sales.
It will most likely look similar to this https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=heart%20of%20thorns , except I want to see if the general sales are on the same level as they were year ago, higher or lower.
guru mods banned and infracted any posts that didnt fit with their views and or agenda, on the GW1 guru page they either allowed or caused many accounts to be hacked and had multiple instances of malware in the pages and links on the site
Can confirm. I got perma-banned from GW2Guru for arguing with super-moderator over ridiculously insane infractions .
I wouldnt say I was a hardcore player, not sure exactly what the term means anymore, but I used to play a hour or two every other day playing supposedly “hard” GW2 content.
As for the WvW, my server was Fort Aspenwood. Is the old community still alive over there?
Has Arena Net given any specifics on when these updates are supposed to come?
Any hints or developer comments?
I recall reading on Reddit a post from Colin that they’re currently moving "all"their resources to fix WvW, however, as far as I can remember, Arena Net has never had a good track record on accomplishing their set goals.
Back when I “quit” about a year ago, it was mainly due to the game (the game modes I enjoyed playing) being to stale.
I was mostly and excursively a high level FOTM and WvW player. I was never type of a player who enjoyed open world group content , neither did I found myself being invested into the story.
I’d really love to get back into playing Guild Wars 2 (more or less casually) but what I find quite discouraging are the poor reviews of the HoT and state of the game according to Reddit/YT & GW2 official forum.
In your opinion – is now a good time to return to GW2 (buying HOT) or should I wait till everything gets “fixed”?
(edited by Nick.6972)
I haven’t touched or followed the game much during the past few months, and I still haven’t bought the new “expansion”.
I have few general questions;
1) Back when I was still following the game, right after HoT was announced, WvW was promised a revamped scoring system. As far as I know, there’s no such thing currently in the game – are they still working on it?
2) Fractals were supposedly receiving more mini dungeons, however there were none added with the HoT. Have they mentioned any time frame when it’s going to happen?
3) Raids. Currently they’re not in the game, but they will be added later on – any time frame?
I don’t really particularly care for the story r open world, and when I was actively playing I mostly did only WvW and FoTM, so I’m asking these questions because if I were to buy HoT at this moment, I don’t think I would have much to do.
I like the idea of Spirit Weapons being tethered to you – as in you summon the Spirit Weapon and it’s chained to you – follows you around and attacks the targets you attack.
What happened to this idea?

Personally, I doubt that I’m the only one ( or in the minority ) who would rather play Ritualist like Guardian more than a Ranger Trapper Guardian.
Spirit Weapon skills have been in the game ever since beta, and while, if I’m not mistaken, some minor buffs have been given to them, they’ve never been anywhere remotely viable or good, neither in PvE or PvP.
If you (Arena Ne)t, have no intentions of making these skills useable, which unfortunately seems so, why not remove them and replace with other skills, like a speed Signet? You already did that to Tomes instead of trying to fix them.
So is the entire game being removed with the addition of Raids?
From what I understand all open world maps, events, jumping puzzles etc. will be removed and replaced with Raids.
After the release of HoT, Raids will be the only content type in GW2.
Furthermore, from what I heard and read, players who don’t own an ascended set will be disabled from forming their own parties to do the Raids.
That’s really unfortunate.
If they continue this way I might as well buy HoT.
It’s funny. If GW2 was built upon the “ideals” of GW1 (which it was supposed to do), we would have had “raids” (elite missions) from the get go – there were no such things.
Agreed. The trinity is a better system than what we currently have.
LFG healer!!
10 minutes later: LFG healer!
20 minutes later: LFG healer
30 minutes later: /P anyone want to do some farming instead?
Yep much better. Even if you find a healer and a tank they had better be 100% for every second or they bear the brunt of the vitriol from the party when things go south.
edit: clarity
I like playing Healers. There are many people besides me who does too.
What really baffles my mind is why they still haven’t fixed Spirit Weapons and Shield skills. Shouldn’t it have been the priority before even starting the work on elite specialization?
I mean, it’s no hard to imagine Spirit Guardian being more interesting that Dragonhunter. For example – summon Spirit Bow – get 1-2 additional control skills.
I’ve been out of the game for the last 9 months or so, however I’ve been closely following the HoT information and development of so called elite professions.
It comes as no surprise, but, I’m heavily disheartened by the Dragonhunter – to me personally, it looks uninspiring and boring, there’s nothing exciting about it and the whole trap mechanic seems gimmicky at best. And I honestly doubt simply bumping up the damage or reducing CDs on skills will make the class any more interesting.
And why would I care? Guardian was my primary profession when I was playing the game (1400 hours, Guardian 95% of the play time). I still haven’t ordered the game, and I really dislike the idea of changing my primary profession – abandoning my Guardian I worked so kitten, in order to enjoy playing the game again.
Is Arena Net doing anything about the Dragonhunter? Have they mentioned anything?
Where does Guarian fit into the new meta after HoT launches seeing the other revealed professions can heal and tank better than Guardian ever did, and Dragonhunter, juding from what I’ve seen so far – look like Rifle Warrior with less damage,
How many instanced raids are there in HoT? Just one?
How many new Fractals are there?
Just logged in to say this:
These kinds threads have been here on WvW forums for years. Arena Net doesn’t care about them neither they do they about you. You can make as devitalized and constructive threads as you want, it wont make any difference.
So either quit or accept WvW as it is because it won’t change.
(Haven’t played WvW for 7 months)
As with the gem store, there’s always that one guy willing to spends hundreds of dollars.
For every person who’s not buying HoT (like me) there’s probably 3 people who couldn’t care any less what HoT adds or doesn’t add to the game, how bad or good it is, etc.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but, last time I checked, Guardian wasn’t even a part of the meta.
What does this add to the Guardian, knowing it’s less optimal than Meditation Guard?
Been out of the loop for couple of the last months.
Are there any news on whether HoT will add “hardcore” PvE content to the game?
I remember there was a talk that they’ve hired a raid designer, info on upcoming content for people who dislike Silverwastes/Drytop/open world content?
So, what about by Thief, Elementalist and Ranger? Aren’t they Dragon Hunting?
So, correct me if I’m wrong, haven’t played the game for quite some time, but as far as I can remember, CC, traps, stuns and effects alike weren’t quite useful in PvE, meaning, that said, doesn’t it mean this specialization (now I’m not implying I know all the effects of the skills shown in the trailer) that the new Bow is practically useless in PvE, which means the class will play exactly like it did before the specialization?
So, what’s with the name? Sounds ridiculous.
Overall, it felt extremely underwhelming.
Here I thought a couple months ago specializations were meant to give something unique and fresh to the game – to the existing professions, this one feels like they just gave copy pasted ranger and gave blue flames and flashy wings and decided it was good enough for Guardian.
Well, and here I thought I would start playing the game again, guess not.
As someone who has been out of the game for months, ever since HOT reveal, I was hoping and waiting for the time they’ll reveal something interesting for Guardians, the specialization and I must say, I didn’t expect this. Feels very underwhelming.
And what’s with the name?
Dragonhunter? Sounds like something 13 year old would name.
I can already see it. Necro Zergs with fear.
I guess It’s fun right?
Doesn’t really matter if couple hundred players hate map. Most of players don’t even want your lame blob guilds in same map.
Yeah. They said the same about EOTM.
All I kept thinking of while watching video:
Ledges. Ledges. Ledges. Fear. Fear. Fear. Fear. Ledges. Ledges. Ledges. Banish. Banish. Banish.
Ledges. Ledges. Ledges. Ledges. EOTM. EOTM EOTM EOTM. EOTM. PvE. PvE. PvE. Ledges. Ledges. Ledges. Skyhammer. Skyhammer. Skyhammer. Ledges. Ledges. Ledges.
Arena Net has already shown how much they care about the Fractals, might as well merchant them.
So It’s a combination of both EOTM and Skyhammer?
Could it be because hardly anyone at Arena Net listens to sPvP and WvW players?
Could it be because of the stagnant meta and 6 month balance cycle?
Marmatt, you may have the best intentions, but, you see, the people are really tired of Arena Net.
People have posted countless of great suggestions and well thought out constructive criticisms over the years and they’ve all gone straight outside the window.
People are bitter, and rightfully so. Instead of talking to us directly, they try to use someone as a proxy for their PR.
You could start a new CDI or a thread, but given the history of Arena Net and their way of collecting data and listening to WvW players, I doubt anyone would hope any of it would ever get implemented in game.
Personally, I’m not enthusiastic or hyped about the new expansion.
Why?
I’m the kind of player who likes difficult instanced content , be it 5 or 10 or 100 people.
I like knowing the people I play with and I like when I have to depend on them and that they have to depend on me.
I like risk and punishment for failure, and appropriate reward for success.
Can I expect such content in Heart Of The Thorns?
As I’ve mentioned before, I really haven’t touched the last two maps added to the game – for me they seem pointless. I don’t care about collectibles or events or storry for that matter (couldn’t care any less if we were fighting an elder dragon or giant flying unicorn).
Now, I’d love to see Raids ( Elite GW1 Missions – UW/FOW/DoA ) in GW2, but I doubt that’s going to happen given how they treat high level fractal people and the dungeon crowd.
