GW1 had no gear grind, instead people grinned tens if not hundreds of hours to get best cosmetics/skins.
That’s what kept the hardcore players – speed clearers, dungeon runners – occupied for so long time, not getting +6.497% better armor.
10 overpowered, 500 good and 1000 mediocre skills is still better than having close to no skill customization at all.
Personally, I’d rather have diversity than restrictions.
Arena Net changed the original skill system in order to achieve more “balance” in GW2.
And, the question is, did they succeed?
Are all professions equally balanced and viable both in PvE and PvP?
The answer is no.
So, was it worth it?
Was it worth scrapping arguably the best aspect of the original game and customization to achieve nothing but limitations?
Good that my ranger was level 15, time to delete it.
Guild Wars 1?
Hardcore PvPers, Hardcore Speed Clearers, Easy NM Dungeons and Missions, casual random arenas PvP, the list goes on.
200$?
Two Hundred Dollars?
Seriously, I mean, really?
No wonder Arena Net continues to make more RNG boxes, apparently there are many people out there like you.
I spent 10G on coffers and got 1 token.
Make JRPG like Heavy Armor which looks like Bikini and I’ll buy that one for 1600 Gems.
This one looks ugly, so no thanks.
Just played the new dungeon as 0/0/30/30/10 Guardian – GS/Staff, felt no difference whatsoever.
Anyways, the new dungeon although quite nicely made was still too easy.
The boss battle still felt too long and boring, and the whole dodging thing was, well, I dont know, not that great, reminded me old 2d games for some reason.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m up for long dungeons, but, eh, this one just seemed, as I said, boring.
If this game was called “Guilds” “Tyria” or “Attack of Zhaitan” you can be sure I would have quit this game months ago and I would not be here posting on this forum.
What annoys me the most is that the game I loved and supported for many years turned into this I don’t even know what, but certainly it’s not a sequel.
So yeah, I’m waiting till September.
Congratulation, I concluded that way back in first open beta.
Back in GW1 days, I used to play regularly at least 2 hours daily.
Mostly I logged in just to play 2 or 3 UW or FoW runs daily, with no objective whatsoever, I didn’t grind, I just enjoyed the instance, the complexity (which admittedly eventually disappeared), the teamwork, and the idea that you could _ up everything for everyone extremely easy.
GW2 fails to deliver me the same experience.
/age in GW2 is 450 hours
I ABSOLUTELY HATE laughable easy content.
Not much, but I would play more if this game had content I actually enjoyed.
Got level 80 first week, got ascended gear second week after the release, and 100% world this year playing 5 days (except for WvW), yeah, end everything else except for legendary.
Out of 9 last months I’ve played this game maybe only 3 months actively.
So yeah, I have no ____ idea what you people are doing in game. I can hardly find a reason to log in.
Guild Wars 1’s first expansion was released a year after the game launched.
I reckon Shiro could take down two elder dragons at once.
I still remember skill named “Impossible Odds” he used.
He’d definitely win.
Ok, lets assume for a moment they completely nerf and make zerker warriors unplayable, what makes you think players wont just switch to zerker guardians?
Actually, I’d love to fight Shiro gain, for the third time.
Or who knows, maybe Abadon didn’t actually die, maybe he is behind all the elder dragons.
Well, I’m certainly not a programmer, but, I assume it’s not hard to program AI like this :
If AOE → Dodge/Move out of AoE.
Monsters fought other monsters in GW1 too.
Interesting design, but nothing really to be amazed about.
Hard dungeons/instances are always welcomed.
“Bosses are not just tank and spank encounters one can find in vanilla dungeons. Instead, these bosses have raid boss like mechanics that requires players to pay their fullest attention and coordinate. Raiders from other MMOs will be at home here as they may have seen some of the mechanics here from previous raid encounters”
Then again, we’ll see.
I’m not talking about profit or drops in this thread and huge HP monsters is a different problem.
Better AI would add more depth to this game.
Of course, I do know not everyone wants that.
None of you played Guild Wars 1 did you. The AI in GW1 was amazing. Monsters fought as coordinated groups that used their abilities cooperatively. They actively avoided AOE effects and where challenging for most players. Players would form group comps with skill sets specifically designed to counter the mobs because they where so effective at killing players.
Yeah. The AI wasn’t really that advanced in GW1 either, but sure as hell better than in GW2.

Where’s the logic here?
Obviously Arena Net was aiming to achieve more action style combat system, not strategic, then why are nearly all monsters static?
They just run to you, sit there soaking up the damage until they die, especially bosses.
Why can’t monsters dodge, flee or avoid AoE?
Why is AI so bad?
Why are most regular/ veteran monsters so pathetically weak compared to us players?
Im speaking for myself, next time I’ll be sure to put a disclaimer just for you so you know I’m voicing my opinion.
True, Maybe I’m just too too kitten good in this game, 380 hour playtime with large breaks between – playing casually, but hating easy content – press F/E/1 For the win.
Climbing up a random mountain and enjoying the view is not my way of enjoying the game, neither do I personally care about the story, It could be about Zombie Pigs attacking the Tyria for all I care.

Take the box I quoted and read bellow to see what I meant.
“You’ll prove your worth with every battle as skill, not hours played, decides your fate, Whether battling horrific monster or competing at highest levels of tournament play, it will always be your skill that earns your victory or defeat.”
Now please, enlighten me, which content in GW2 PvE actually tests your skill level?
Fractals? Who knows, I’m 38 LvL and still feel no difference fro level 1 whatsoever except for agony, maybe If I grind my way to level 80 things will change.
I think Guild Wars 2 requires MORE skill than Guild Wars 1. .
Your opinion = truth? Sure, continue. I don’t suppose you know term “subjective”.
You know, sometimes I browse this forum with my phone using Opera Mini web browser, and since my phone’s screen isn’t big enough, I can’t see the names of the users who post on this forum, but somehow I always seem to recognize all your GW2 gratifying replys.
Nice one, nice joke. Thanks, I needed that, I’m literally laughing.
“Your skill will be your Legend.”
Original Guild Wars Prophecy Box.
Nope, not skill, not in GW2.
What’s more annoying -
Everything’s perfectly fine with the game, you’re wrong, quit, go back to X MMO.
Or.
Improvements should be made to make the game more enjoyable.
That’s a new low for the fanboys.
Congratulation.
Next time try pointing out the mistakes in punctuation too.
I mean, you can’t possibly voice an opinion without both perfect grammar and punctuation and no mistakes.
Having 100% map, all POIs, Vistas and Hearts, I don’t feel like going through the all boring zones again with an alts.
I have 4 level 40-20 characters and I have no desire whatsoever to level them up to 80 doing same old boring maps, repetitive hearts and killing same monsters again.
Played my 28 Warrior alt Yesterday, 25-30 Zone, didn’t saw a single player.
Of course Warriors deal the most DPS, that’s what they’re supposed to do.
Of course, the problem is, everyone’s a generic DPS in this game.
The whole game downloaded in less than a hour.
Like 15 mb/s +.
Quite ugly, for my taste.
GW1 had better armor variety.
Personally I’d love to see more revealing Heavy human armor, especially for females.
Watch Guild Wars 2 Manifesto, then go in game and play for couple of days, then watch it again, then compare it to GW1, then try guessing why.
Quality over quantity, I rather have 1 good update each 3 months than constant small trivial updates.
Living Story and constant content does not fix the core problems of this game and why so many people have left and many more continue to leave.
Touche ,
How about adding NEW SKILLS??>
Sell them via gemstore via rng chests.
Most players are just too busy in LA being afk.
“There’s no grind in GW2, everything’s optional!”
Same could be said about all the other MMO, even the grindiest one.
Game X doesn’t force you to get the best armor Y.
Just logged in GW2 after 2 months. Bought 1000 Coffers, got 1 skin, no wings.
RNG to the max.
Logged out, completely nothing new since I left.
Hopefully more RNG Karma Orr Boxes!
Please!
If you are bored then try something else for a while. Then come back to play after a bit (or don’t, depending on your preference). I think people are really looking for that carrot to keep playing. It’s not really that type of game.
I tried that for more than 2 months, didn’t work.
This game doesn’t allow me to play the way I want to play it, it’s impossible.
How do you want to play?
The way Manifesto Trailer promised.
That, and more strategic, more team play, no zerging – less active more chess like.
This game doesn’t allow me to play the way I want to play it, it’s impossible.
A few people, all the other developers moved to China.
Henchmen weren’t that great untill they updated them with new skills.
