Time to bring my noob PvE butt to WvW and be the rally bot our enemy servers need but don’t deserve. sigh
To those saying making these changes will hinder future raid development. Basically you’re saying don’t change the difficulty that way we will have more difficult content that even less people will do. In others words if Anet spent time making changes to help ALL the players then that would take away content from the elite players.
So why would players who are unable to raid now be concerned about future development of raids?
Then why Anet should be concerned with making more raids in future if their population will remain small fracture of whole? They are not a charity company, and GW2 was never advertised as raiding game.
Your logic works in both ways.I stopped playing WoW in 2010, but the GW2 raiding debacle lead me to go read up about WoW raiding. Apparently what lead to the LFR tool was the fact that 90% of the player base didn’t have easy access to raiding and it was an expensive endeavor.
The inherent problem with raiding in anything seems to be the organization factor more than anything else. It requires that someone gets 10 people together and keeps them coordinated, which is not an easy job.
Fractals don’t require the organization, and open world content (world bosses, DS, etc) really only require that the zerg follows your lead, they don’t have to learn specific roles.
So really it seems the choices are :
1. Keep things the way they are, small portion of the player base is happy with a larger portion that are afraid of raids or angry about them.
2. Give up on raids all together.
3. Find a way to trivialize the organization factor.
WoW chose #3.
I’d like to comment on your 1st choice that I don’t think the majority who don’t raid are angry/afraid about raids being in the game. I would argue that most are fine or just don’t care about them at all. This demographic consist of PvP, WvW and PvE players alike. The forums do bring in the most polarizing comments after all so it seems like there are only pro raid and anti raid people. In the end the people who like the game are in the game enjoying the aspects they like.
Letting people in guild hall without buying expansion is already generous of Anet. They really had no obligation to do so as guild halls were marketed as a feature of HoT. Buy the expansion to get access to the expansion’s content like the rest of us did.
Precision adds crit chance but if you’re able to get to 100% with traits/buffs precision is going to waste. That’s why valkyrie has higher potential due to conversion food.
I would say that on multiple occassions you contradict yourself as to what you want. Youre say that when there’s not enough to talk about dont say anything, but also that they should communicate. Which one is it?
What i say is that they must communicate… properly.
If this post is what they understand as communicating properly, i point out, as personal opinion, that is better say nothing (because to me is not proper coimmunication)
If MO was just trying to say that today is not the day of LS3, se should have said exactly that, with those words.
Thats communciating and thats what i expect from anet, communicating, in a proper way. No contradiction at all, sorry. If they cant communicate properly, better dont say anything.
Its a pitty i had to explain that to someone… i thought it is a lesson all parents teach to their childs. This was a cryptic post, saying as a resume: “we still have a lot to do, and by the way, we no longer are going to make quarterly updates anymore (but wont tell you when either), have fun”
Poor communication.
He should have said “guys, today is not ls3, we are still working on that and we plan to have it ready around XXXXX·”
They will know why they dont things like that. My bet? fear to failure and 0 confidence on deliver things as planned or scheduled. Thats why i asked them to step up once and for all.
They’re not going to give us release dates until they’re 100% sure they’re able to deliver. I also disagree that saying nothing at all is better. There’s no worse feeling than not to know what they’re working on. Now we know vaguely what’s going on behind the curtains.
Thanks for the communication Mo
Really happy about this new announcement since it gives us something to look forward to without hyping stuff to the Moon just to be disappointed after patch when we didn’t actually get the Moon.
Trolling is real
Valkyrie stat combo is good in PvE as you can get to 100% crit chance easily and the extra vitality you can convert into power. It actually hits harder than the berserker gear counterpart
Oh great, this discussion again. I really hope anet delivers ls3 soon so that people have something to do. Sadly ls has never had much replay value and then the entitled whiners want to nerf raids down to that hole as well ‘cos you have nothing to do. It’d be content you do once and then never bother with anymore.
It didn’t ruin the game. For me it’s the lack of new replayable content that is really starting to get under my skin. I raid twice a week and try to do fractals daily. Although I love the new system for fractals they really need to spice it up with a new instance soon.
In other words I want more of it.
It’s the nature of group play that promotes active defense like reflects/blind fields/aegis over passive defense like vit and toughness. In solo play there is a niche for vit and toughness as def option.
And another one. 3rd topic name with the same joke?

Would like to add that the cost for blue orchid is quite ridiculous. 50 rare flower seeds is quite a lot to ask for a normal looking flower. Either lower the material requirement or increase seed drop rates.
Another one, another one, another one and another one
Don’t really care about capes but I wish there were more short jackets instead of trenchcoats for medium classes and plain pants for light armor females. At the moment we only have skirts and really weird pants/dress combos that seem like they couldn’t decide which one to go for so they made a hybrid just in case.
I think success in an MMO in it’s core is how happy and content you are with what you’re doing. It can consist of AP and skins as OP stated but a lot of other stuff too. For me it’s about clearing challenges like raids and gearing my alts to provide more versatility for my team. For others accumulating wealth is the end game and some strive to be the best PvPer that ever was.

I love wing 3 as well and I’m looking forward to new raids!
My guess is that they’ll continue to pump out raids or at least I hope they do.
Wrong, you did nothing but telling us that Raids are bad without Proof. Show us the Proof. You tell us that Raids are bad for the Game, then you have to prove it.
Raids by themselves are not bad indeed. But raids being only endgame pve content, especially without good variety of difficulties, is certainly very bad, and I hope Anet not going to move game it that direction.
They’re making more fractals this year for people who want different kind of instanced experience.
Just because you say raids have only hard difficulty doesn’t prove it’s bad design. There are other options out there in GW2 if you want scaling difficulty.
This discussion of raids being objectively bad for the game is nonsense. Since neither side can prove anything one way or another it’s completely ridiculous to make generalizing comments. In the end you only have people who like and who dislike raids, nothing more. And yes, there are toxic players on both side of the debate, not just on the raiders side.

It’s completely fine to want all of these things and I respect that. However you like everyone else just has to wait for LS3 to appear to the game. People who only care about instanced PvE content waited for new instanced content for quite a while (fractured in 2013).
To me this feels like a troll thread but I’ll feed it anyway. Working together to overcome difficult PvE challenges without any competetiveness is what keeps me in PvE. I can learn and do things at my own pace without too much pressure. PvP and WvW are there if you want competition and the beauty of GW2 is that there’s something for everyone but not everything needs to cater for one person specifically.
I love power and condi reaper.
I agree that nearly all fails are due to mechanics assuming that everyone is doing decent damage with viable builds but we are talking about pugs here. Anything can happen and people do stuff like personal survivability over team utility. So yeah, dps can be a problem if people don’t know rotations but manage to pull off the mechanics. I have seen this happen.
Fell in love with the highback chair so decided to make a dinner table combo with those puppies and a long fancy table. Can’t make much more ‘cos I’m starting to hit decoration cap almost everywhere in the house Would it be too much to ask for Anet to remove the local cap pretty please.
The most fractal focused I know is KING if you play on EU servers. On the other hand almost all slightly more established PvE guilds run T4 fractals daily.
Nice post to get more decorating ideas.
Here is mine: http://imgur.com/a/BWmYE
I hope devs will make more decorations soon. They can never be enough…
PS: I need help, I am hooked. T_T
One of us.. One of us… Yeah it’s pretty addicting Also, nice stuff you have come up with. Would be nice to see some of these places in game as pictures don’t always do justice to the decorations.
so, a guildie made a vid of most of our hall’s decorations, would probably illustrate them better than screens, though not as much time spent on the library (at the end), my fav room:)
Nice vid Ven! Today I expanded the study area a lil’ bit with a wide library shelf, a few chairs and a table.
As a human necro main I felt like I had to have Grenth statue in my home so here it is. Made some other upgrades to the lobby as well to flesh the place out a bit
Good thing these things are tracked. Leaving ascended mats totally out however feels a bit wrong imo. Those things are worth about 10g each.
Replaced the basic shrubs with potted cypress. Lobby is starting to look a lot better. Before and after images attached!
@aquathanos The library looks so good
My guild is small and we’re still on Basic decorations and one step up. I’m out of game for today so I’ll have to screen the little cafe and fountain areas I made later to add here.
Meanwhile, where in Lost Precipice is the building you are using there? I’m racking my brains to figure it out. Is it part of “further exploration” for a level 40 guild?
Yeah, it’s part of the further exploration upgrade. You can get there with smart decoration placing though. Check my position on the mini map.

Hello fellow scribes!
Now that scribing is a lot cheaper than before I’ve found myself decorating a home for myself in our guild hall. If you’ve found yourself in a similar situation post your beautiful homes in this thread! I’ll start with what I’ve done so far (I do intend to upgrade and add stuff in there for a long long while)
I decided to pick the first temple on the left at upper plaza. It was a place I knew I wanted to decorate as soon as I saw the place. I’ve managed to beat raids so I wanted to have trophies of my achievements. I also wanted a study and a place to listen some music (gramophone is super awesome due to the Halloween theme).
Let me see your awesome creations!
What do you find most fun on this game?

Raids are best content in the game to my mind. They combine my enthusiasm for playing with friends and overcoming difficult challenges. Fractals are also things that I enjoy immensly.
Recently I’ve also started to decorate my guild hall and boy is making those things addictive. Making places look pretty and furnishing the temples at the upper plaza of lost precipice is so much fun.
I don’t mind some boxes as they save space but the problem imo is the amount of bags and boxes. When you need to have fine, masterwork, rare, exotic and ascended boxes you’ve come back to square one. Not to mention that there are multiple different kinds of exotic, masterwork and fine bags. On the other hand I don’t see a way to solve this problem as space will always be an issue. Maybe have an “open all till every slot is filled” option or an autosalvage option for masterwork and lower tier equipment.
The other day I joined a fractal 40 farm, instantly in chat “necro is so kitteng useless” and I’m out of the group. That’s how ridiculous the meta thing is, while it really matters nothing at all in this case. Can you get how annoying that is when you just like to play your class which is my main, and don’t really have the time or gold to get another character that is in meta, according to them?
While I won’t commenting the other stuff about the raiding issue because all the others here have said enough about it (and they are right, you are not), I’ll say some words about farming level 40 fractals.
Condi Necro isn’t useless for T4 fractals but it’s understandable you were kicked out of a farm run group. These groups want to be very fast to melt down the champion and the duo afterwards and repeat the whole thing over and over again. In this situation a condi necro is one of the classes you don’t want to bring in.
Yeah, this group could have made a more proper lfg (like most of the farming ones are doing) in which they state that they want to have certain classes but you really can’t blame them. And you also can’t take this as an excuse for a bad or toxic meta. Running fractals the usual way is working with a condi necro even if it is T4 or not. Nobody will kick you there at the moment. You just joined a very special one.
I recommend a PS warrior, herald, chrono or an ele to go farm level 40. You can go in with exotic gear and some asc trinkets to achieve enough AR for that level. And you also don’t need to have another main for that just know a good dps rotation, easiest here is warrior imho. In these farm groups there are a lot of players not playing their main and that’s for a reason. It’s just stupid farming, almost brain afk to get money.
Be a little flexible here and be smart that’s all. And don’t add this to a non-existent toxic meta environment. So I should make an extra character, maybe use the lvl 80 boost or tomes, transfer the trinkets over, make it berserker as my trinkets are also berserker and then use that char only for fractals, since I don’t really like to play berserker except on thief maybe. Definitely not warrior.
All so that the run is 10 sec shorter? Yea, really understandable.
And I know thankfully not everyone is like that but it happens more often than it doesn’t, maybe it depends on what server you’re playing on, I don’t know.
There’s also the option to make valkyrie gear and use vit to power food to do nice power dmg with your necro. On the other hand ele is the way to go but this build doesn’t do that much worse and is definitely better than condi necro in said content.
The thing about multiple characters is that some classes perform better in different types of content. Think of them as tools; you want to be the guy with the most versatile kit and also have the knowledge when to use those tools. If you only own a hammer you won’t be wanted to saw planks.
Also, for a lot of casual players in big boss events, so long as the boss is losing health, and they are winning, they are probably not aware of doing anything wrong by not CCing. “Was the event successful? Then I must’ve been doing it right.” That also furthrs the “I don’t care about CC” attitude b/c they didn’t need it last time. They end up getting carried by everyone else and don’t realize there’s more to learn. Only by repeated failure will they finally stop to figure out what’s going wrong.
The vast majority of the time, people are actually right when they think they don’t need to break that bar. Most encounters are easily winnable without ever putting even a slight dent in the bar. That sure doesn’t do anything to educate people, and after fighting dozens of enemies with useless break bars, running into one where not breaking it has major consequences, they’re still clueless.
I agree. The only place where breaking the break bar is even relevant is in raids.
Kinda disagree with that. Vinetooth Prime in Auric Basin is next to impossible if the rest of the group does nothing. I usually bail out after 2 CC phases if breakbar doesn’t break after my necro using golem rush, spectral grasp, WH daze and the CC in reaper shroud.
Also in some dungeons and fractals breakbars make fights a lot easier.
Crafting New Stats is Un-Needly Tedious
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Never ever craft 4 stat ascended equipment. Craft vanilla ascended items and stat swap in the forge. Saves you a ton of money and effort.
Probably a mix of luck, crafting and achievements. Getting into fractals is a good idea since you can get whole boxes as loot. The necessary AR you can put to your ascended trinkets.
Next thing you should do is looking at doable achievements like specialization collections, luminescent armor collection and leyline armor collection.
In the most cases you probably need to farm like mad for the last few pieces but I suggest you use your ascended chests to craft the big ones such as chest piece and leggings.
If for some reason you get a chest with undesirable stats you’re able to swap those stats to your liking in the forge. This is especially important if you want to craft the new set since crafting those cost a lot more than using the vanilla recipes and converting to a new stat set (crafting viper is more expensive than crafting valkyrie and stat swapping to viper).
In the end you just gotta play the game till you get enough materials/luck.
Auramancer has best pure healing although for most groups it is a bit over the top and that’s why people choose a druid for the unique damage buffs. Not many people have played ventari rev as healer and it’d be interesting to see how they do when played well.
Chronotank makes an extremely good tank since you’re able to combine tanking and quickness/alacrity sharing.
Lots of reasons for me. Enjoyment for challenging and engaging content, bragging rights to some extent, the guild I raid with is incredibly nice/fun group and rewards (got lucky with 2 ghostly infusions).
I don’t get why the need to try and get people to do something they don’t want to do, and I can’t say I like swap, but, I mean, if you really want to fix the constant swamp runs, re-adjust fractals so that the higher you go, it does not become this huge HP slog fest.
Make it so that Instabilities, and other types of effects are what add the challenge, as opposed to to just giving the mobs more HP.
I think that would resolve the Fractals of the Swamps, quite nicely.
I think you said it yourself there. Many people don’t like to run swamp but there’s no incentive to do anything else as it’s the most rewarding. Adding rewards to the other fractals would bring in diversity.
I do agree that there should be more fractals but the core problem is still there. People will always take the path of least resistance if it’s as rewarding as the harder stuff.
Been thinking this as well and came up with an idea that the 3 least run fractals in a day from 50-100 would be like “golden fractals” the next day. From these you’d get a gold each. If you just want to do the quick daily swamps for champ chest you’re allowed to do so but you’ll miss out on the potential 3 gold.
@Ohoni You’re right that Anet could and has the capability to put legendary armor into other content as well. They also could make every player have dev commands to summon as much materials as we want to whenever we want to. It’s safe to assume they will never do such a thing.
Yes, and I’m not suggesting they should. Everything in moderation.
My point is, things are not the way they are because they MUST be that way. Everything is open to change. Sometimes a man must go to the mountain, but other times, it IS possible to bring the mountain to him, because the game is not bound to ironclad laws of physics and spacetime.
So no, players should not be able to use console commands to summon Legendary armor, it should take effort to earn it, but there’s no reason why that effort MUST take place inside a raid. There is no advantage to that. The developers can change that rule, and I hope that they do.
I feel like I’m repeating myself here. That’s how they created value to the legendary armor. There’s the advantage. You want it to get value some other way and I understand that but this works and there’s no reason to change it. You can acquire the value needed from other content via gold which you can turn into legendary armor by paying raiders the clears.
@Ohoni You’re right that Anet could and has the capability to put legendary armor into other content as well. They also could make every player have dev commands to summon as much materials as we want to whenever we want to. It’s safe to assume they will never do such a thing.
Anet decided that raids are the price to pay to get legendary armor. As time goes on the price will drop since more and more people will get the place on farm.
@Ohoni The rules do apply and that’s why we have this thing called Trading Post and things have prices. I wish I could magically summon elonian leather from thin air. Instead I have to buy them ‘cos I don’t have time to grind them. I don’t complain about that on the forums.
So apparently the only way to get through to Ohoni is to explain to him why free market capitalism is beneficial for both parties?
It’s not beneficial to the consumer in this case. Yes, they can pay gold and they can get through the content to the reward that they want, that much is to their benefit. But they only NEED to make that transaction because the deck was stacked against them in the first place, because the conditions were such that they could not reasonably pursue their goal without making that transaction. This is not capitalism, this is highway robbery.
What would be beneficial to the consumer in this case would be for ANet to implement a new route to the end reward, one which the consumer could pursue without having to raid, AND without having to pay someone else to do it for him. Players should not be profiting at the expense of other players.
I don’t understand this reasoning at all. Think of any of the products you buy irl (car, house even meat). How many thing do you make completely on your own from start to finish with the things you can gather from nature? Getting a raid group set up and the mechanics learned is nowhere near compareable with things like car building. Yes, the cards are stacked against you in every single case → never a robbery, always a simple question of scarcity.
So grind that gold in SW and give it to raiders if you want legendary armor. Think of it as doing your job to get enough money to buy a house.
