I would be streaming and making esports, but solo queueing netted me this…

I SAID EEEEESPPPPUUUURTZ! Nothing else matters but Esports.

I’m T4 and I could make my way to upper diamond, it’ll lower queue times but I’m not playing matches in a broken PvP. I gave up PvP when we lost a match because a teammate got trapped inside a wall.

Why try when PvP is a complete joke?

WHY WAIT?

Because they aren’t paid for making game enjoyable, but for “developing it”, why would they rush anything if their payment isn’t based on it?

Actually that isn’t 100% true, depending on the publisher a good game could equal more money.

That and no one wants to make bad art. Guild Wars 2 has some of the most beautiful environments of any game, even compared to today’s AAA games, Guild Wars 2 is amazingly pretty, smooth and thoughtfully designed environments and enemies.

I wish I could say the same for other things.

lol, you make a good point. People in charge of combat and PvP need to step down. They need skilled combat designers that exceed in design and mechanical design.

It doesn’t just hurt PvP, it hurts raids as well. If they balance a lot of the broken aspects, raids could become unbeatable depending on what was changed. Whoever designed raids to be a giant DPS check simply hurt the game, they made a bad design.

In the end, someone or some group in ArenaNet are simply failing. Now the game is hurting for their failures.

It’s ironic, what killed Guild Wars 2 for an Esport is Guild Wars 2 TRYING to be an Esport.

Worst:

  • Dhuumfire on release. Within days you had 20 full hotjoin servers down to 5, people flat out quit because Necromancers were the new overlords. Powerful CC, condi-bursting and tanking. It’d make a viper rev go “kitten son, that kitten OP.”
  • Turret Engineers, such a pain in the kitten to fight against. It wasn’t overpowered or even that good, just annoying as hell.
  • Chronobunkers. Mesmers should never be allowed to bunker, they have such strong utility and when you combine good defense you got a monster. Lost fight far? That’s okay, leave a portal! 3 second stun that groups everyone! Tons of stuns, lowered cooldowns thanks to alacity. Release bunker guardians were strong but they did not have the same super strong utility.

Best:

  • Longbow buff to rangers. It was a much needed change to a very stale invincible meta where people found the best way to handle a thief as glass is to use invincible skills. It was a boring battle of cooldowns than strategy. Then came a change that shocked everyone, you can no longer be glassy anymore! Unlike thieves, rangers dealt damage at a safe distance, I remember 3-4 rangers just wrecking people for the first week because glassy engi’s, glassy eles, glassy warriors and glassy guardians just couldn’t keep up. Then people got smart and rangers were below tier again.

Well hope they get tired of implementing esports stuffs, and stop opening any kinda further more tournament anymore.

It is just my personal hope. i just don’t like esports. And that is why i play mmo instead of moba.

I really don’t understand the toon town thing.
Like, wow. A semi-popular person (with a following developed from previous streams not related to the game), did a steam with toontown in it.

Isn’t the fact that runescape has 6000+ viewers nearly 24/7, in comparison to GW2, much more pathetic?

Oh, wait. It isn’t.
Because by that logic, super mario is worse than Runescape, and who the hell is dumb enough to argue that?

Now if SW:TOR, ESO, and Wildstar where putting up much larger numbers 24/7 then we would have cause for concern because those games are actually in the same genre.

Toontown is a entirely different genre covering a entirely different market. It would be like trying to compare WoW to Minecraft.

It’s not about comparing games, it’s about comparing popularity. For developers trying their hardest, spending thousands of dollars to make their PvP game Esport material in advertisements, prizes among other things, yet, they are getting outclassed in views by games that are over 20 years old. Being outclassed by games that are not very good. Is pathetic.

It doesn’t matter what evidence is presented, the team that is responsible for Guild Wars 2 combat has failed and the refuse to get any help plus ignores everything presenting their way. Thei illusions that they know what they are doing is going to harm Guild Wars 2 in all areas of the game, not just PvP.

eSports is a big business word at the moment and very few take it seriously anymore

How can anyone take it seriously? $400,000 was spent on a stream that netted around 2,500 viewers. Someone in ArenaNet really needs to understand their choices are dumb.

You can make more money streaming Toontown than Guild Wars 2.

ArenaNet is just so blind to have bad their situation is, they are not even aware how much of a joke Guild Wars 2 Esports is now. They fail to understand you cannot have big problems and be successful. Unbalance, bugs and people exploiting are serious issues that will drive away the community.

Guild Wars 2 is going to kill its own Esport potential.

Oh that’s nothing, I lost a match because my teammate got pulled underground. That’s not including all the stomps that failed for no reason.

Remember, ArenaNet fails horribly at combat design and not just PvP in general. Just look at raids, they have to be careful at what they nerf because raids are a giant DPS check.

The queue times wouldn’t be so bad if balance and bugs weren’t so bad, so more people will play. This is also why you have placement matches at the start of seasons, you got people climbing super fast, playing 20 games a day with people climbing with only 3 games a day.

Then again, cheating is cheating. Lowering queue times is an excuse for easy wins. Yes, waiting an hour sucks but maybe if you SoloQ instead of going with your 5 man premade you’ll get to play more.

OH WAIT, it’s about cheating the wins

Easiest fix: Remove TeamQing.
Longer fix: Have the team MMR match the highest players MMR, instead of adding.

It’s freaking Toontown, it shouldn’t matter what time it is. The game with better gameplay, sound, story, visuals, multiplayer, heck, better in every single aspect, is being beaten by Toontown.

I love Guild Wars 2 but the developers don’t understand how bad things are right now.

The majority of this game’s demographic, are located in the places I just mentioned. And the majority of this game’s players, have other kitten to do today.

Including me, about to sleep myself.

TT geting a one off, random twitch channel, that I didn’t even get to see who it was, it literally could’ve been one of the more popular twitch channels doing a random stream about it and never playing it again, is not a big deal.

It’s not a sign of the end times, lol.

Fixed. Sadly it’s not much of a loss. Remember the ‘main dev’ also brought the worst metas. Dhuumfire, hambow and the immobilize buff, all painful.

Yup, I got a teef stuck at that exact same spot. It happens when they peel away and jump off the cliff. The moment they hit the ground, pull with F1. This isn’t the only glitch spot.

Same thing happen to me on ele. I just had to log out and log back in to avoid dishonor.

They should stop trying to professionalize PvP in GW2, its just a joke. This is yet another example, in amongst many as to why they should stop.

Instead of giving half a million to pro PvP farmers, use that to develop PvP so its fun for people.

Oh, it gets even better. A warrior in Emerald whispered me for advice in PvP, so after talking I figured I can afford to lose a pip when things go bad.

Well, on the 4th game we won 2 pips. I’m in freaking diamond, against low-tier rubies and sapphires and the game actually thought the odds were strongly against me. Okay, sure, my partner is a warrior but that’s no reason to give 2 pips.

Now I need to take a shower, I feel dirty like I cheated queuing with an emerald player like I wanted easy wins.

Like 99% of the ESL players, EEEESPPPUUUURTS, ArenaNets version of an expensive joke

Apparently the guardian pulled our engineer under the stairs, we were winning until it became a 4v5. I can only guess it had to do with the position and the pull from the tether.

If he logged out to reset himself, he would have gotten dishonor.

Quickness on Aura?… For Elementalist? Please go away. Do you not know how useless quickness is on elementalist? Or imbalanced weapon-wise? There is no change with quickness if you cast eruption; it is still takes the same delay to explode. And quickness on overload actually result in a damage loss (ticks are not faster).

Elemental Bastion nerf. I suppose that you are also proposing buffs to the awful other grandmaster traits on Tempest? That’s a very nice way to cut marauder tempest. All this in your quest to nerf the effect on celestial by 10%, you nerf to oblivion builds that are way more interesting.

Invigorating Torrents. Vigor and Regen removed. That’s a nice way to just cut the potential condition clear. It is also a nice way to make Latent Stamina worthless (I don’t expect you to know that the ICD is only on the swapping portion).

Absolutely pathetic changes. You butcher an extremely wide variety of builds in collateral damages, break the current most used tempest builds, and leave tempest to be a flat steaming pile of nothing.

You may be right, but condi clear is still more important as condi dmg account for 70% of kill across all game mode; I repeat that you can take regen/protection whatever …but leave the single condi clear from aura, outside of that, tempest offers nothing groundbreaking and the elite should be scrapped altogether

That is still along the lines of to be determined. In my opinion the biggest issue with condi this meta is it drastically out speeds condi clear.

If you increase the recharge of a lot of condi traits and abilities would be a much needed fix. Yes, condi can and still hurt but you are more punished when using it poorly. Just look at the necro trait that converts boons into conditions on signet use. Because there is no interal cooldown, you can blow up targets way to easily and get the benefits from signets. The Reaper super charges that, slowing cooldowns with damaging chill. Faster burning and poison attacks.

There doesn’t need less condi in my opinion. It needs to slow down then you won’t need so much condition removal.

Remember how strong Cleasing Ire was? 3 condi removal on a 10 second cooldown is NOTHING now, dat power creep

Burst meta would just be as bad as this one. All of your deaths and all of your kills would be the result of cooldowns.

If you want a refreshing and good meta, ArenaNet just needs to balance their game. There are so many things beyond OP right now and the power creep is stupidly high.
Stability when you dodge and an instant staff charge that can crit for 10k? An infinite supply of party wide regen, vigor and protection? Being extra tanky with glassy amulet? Being able to bunker 2 points at once thanks to portal? Powerful CC on traps and a free 1200 range pull? Blowing up people with tons of condition and CC spam?

The reason why the meta is so god awful is because the balance is god awful.

You don’t seem to know what hotfixing is… I said nothing about buffing for good reason. The things that are too strong are more of a problem than things that are too weak. I don’t have all day of typing for it to get ignored.

Marauder Tempest is not a thing in PvP and never will be as long as overcharging takes longer than a Meteor Shower. Latent Stamina is weak, I tried it, there is no reason to ever use it. Buff it? Sure, but not as important.

Also, quickness on an elementalist is not useless, proper timing with skills can make a massive difference as all auras have 0 casting time. Oh, and it’s 1 second of quickness when you apply an aura, WHICH MEANS YOUR ALLIES ALSO GET IT.
I think that is a very, very fair trade from perma regeneration and vigor.

I don’t think you truly understand what @Alekt said so let me rephrase it : without invigorating torrent, the tempest specialization loses any kind of condi clear, now you can take away all the vigor and regen that you and the angry mob want, eles were asking for condi clear on tempest..no freaking quickness, nobody except you ask for quickness on ele as it’s less than useless.

“Auras remove 1 condi” : this is a more sensible change than your mindless butchering…the rest I don’t care, it’s not what gives me the victories plus it seems you suggest to nerf other classes also so….

The only reason why condi is a serious problem is because there is way to much condi. Revenants and Reapers have way to much condi plus good damage for their own good. Not make matters worse, the problematic classes can invest everything into DPS without having to sacrifice many traits for defense.

But your right, if invigorating torrent alone gets nerfed it will take Tempests completely out of the meta.

I really wish they would show it. And Sigil of Paralyzation seemed to shorten my basilisk venom. Mesmer one felt the same. Guess I should test a bit more. :c I really wish they’d SHOW these stupid things. Why take Berserker runes if you can’t tell what your net game is :C

When you fall below 50% AND when take damage, it activates. There is no chance, despite saying there is a chance.

Just wait till you lose a game because of the stomp bug.

Sigil of Air does work I assure you, as for Sigil of Paralyzation and Rune of the Mesmer they probably work as well. Runes and Sigils do NOT show up on skill descriptions. So if you equip the Sigil of Force it will not show the damage values getting a 5% increase.

Same goes with Runes like Rune of Radiance will not show proper aura duration and the light aura when you use a heal.

I got to Ruby 6 in SoloQ then started getting people that were stuck in Ruby on my team. Being stuck for obvious reasons.

So… No, you can get to high Ruby in SoloQ, the issue is then being grouped with people who’ll never make it to diamond. I got a friend and we got to diamond together.

There is no reason why bringing out your big wooden staff makes everyone around you dazed. The amount of seeds throw out isn’t blinding anymore, don’t even know how you can shoot someone a seed and blinds them… Not to mention if you hit someone, then knock them up you can plant another seed? No way.

Not if you bring the trait Foot in the Grave and get stability that way. But that means you can’t bring Dhuumfire or Death Perception for the extra raw damage.

1) You shouldn’t need to take a specific trait just to compensate for inherently broken design. This destroys build diversity while skirting around the actual problems.

2) One 3-second stack of Stability isn’t going to help much anyways. That’ll get you through one skill if it’s not stripped and basically force you to always open Shroud with either #4 or #5. If you want to stay in Shroud for more than a few seconds doing anything besides autoattacking, good luck.

You’re overlooking the arching power creep issue.

While stability is vital for Necromancer, that’s only because there is so much CC everywhere on extremely low cooldowns. We now have AoE CC that is massive in size so in order to make up for it there is also stability everywhere.

Dragonhunter, druids, scrappers, reapers, revenants, chronomancers, all have an insane amount of CC on low cooldowns on their traits and skills.

I really don’t think I am overlooking the power creep, though. I’ve already agreed with you in a previous post that there’s too much CC in the game, and I also acknowledge that with the amount of power creep we’ve seen, nerfs need to come down across the board. But that’s not going to be a magical fix for Reaper’s Shroud if you just leave it filled with slow-casting, highly-telegraphed, melee range abilities with no way to protect those channels. When has a setup like that ever succeeded in this game? For context, if you tripled the channel times for each skill on a Warrior’s Hammer (which hasn’t changed much in recent patches), you’d get a similar set of channel times to what Reaper’s Shroud has (if you switched the skill order around). I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t have run that even prior to the specialization patch, let alone HoT. At least regular Death Shroud gives you range and shorter channels overall.

You also didn’t address my first point. Any response to that criticism?

Just to reiterate/clarify, I’m not against nerfing Reapers, or even against revamping professions to force them to actually sacrifice things when they spec for offense or defense. I just don’t think that this particular suggestion of yours is a good implementation of that theory.

I do agree with your point about Reapers keeping stability, however, it’s very unclear if keeping it would make Reapers too strong or if removing it is too weak. I’m basing this nerf solely on the fact Necromancers always did fine without strong stability before HoT, before there was ton of CC spam and beast-mode mobility.

Resistance won’t be as weak as you’d think, as it still provides immunity to fear, taunts and snares. That being said though, it’s nearly impossible to tell without proper testing, to many factors to consider for this one boon across CC of multiple classes.

Necro’s didn’t really do “fine” before HoT…mostly just cannon-fodder in the first mid-fight due to being tossed around like a rag-doll; there’s a reason most/all necro’s went really tanky post June-23rd patch. It was kind of boring tbh, and I’m glad to finally being back to using glassier amulets.

Resistance isn’t a good idea for RS 3 because as the above poster pointed out, it really goes against the design of necros. Out of shroud, a necro can handle condition pressure through transfers, but should be generally weak to conditions in shroud. This is incredibly important because necros get a 50% power damage reduction in shroud. Reapers keep this status quo, and it’s probably a good thing to prevent them from being untouchable in shroud.

As for increasing the cooldowns of RS skills, +1 absolutely. RS 4 and RS 5 both need a 4 to 5 second* CD increase because the CC spam is out of control.

Your Deathly Chill trait change isn’t terrible, but in my opinion, the root of the problem is that chill damage is too high. Requiring a 600 radius isn’t that impactful because when you’re chilled its often not trivial to get out of range. Deathly Chill is just an improved Terror, and I think the simplest solution is to reduce the damage coefficient from 0.3->0.25.

I can see how chill damage is to high, but the way I see is it’s too easy to apply and damage. Instead of nerfing chill damage to confiscate for the constant application I believe it would be better to necros to damage foes around them that are chilled.
By that I don’t mean 600 range, I’m talking like 130. In order for chill to do the damage, you got to be right next to the target.
Nerfing the damage is a good option, but I personally don’t think it’d be the ideal option.

As for resistance, I was thinking more about immunity Chill, Cripple and Immobilize vs. CC. As I know damaging conditions to a necro in shroud is like an diamond skin ele is to a trap ranger. That being said, I think having strong stability is too much for necro. Removal of conditions outside of shroud, immunity to CC while in shroud forms too good of a well rounded combo.

Like Diamond Skin, the trait wasn’t even good until Elementalists could keep a perma-upkeep of healing, regeneration’s and plus condition removal with all shouts. What happened was it worked way to well.

In the end, if Reapers lose their stability in Reaper Shroud that also means a lot of CC needs nerfing. The influx of stability is the consequence of the mass amount of CC introduced.
