As much as I like to bash A-net there is not an unlimited amount of equally skilled players. If a full premade roughly around your MMR level is not available to be matched with you what do you propose you just sit in the queue forever? Also, leagues just started yesterday how fast do you want this whole process to legendary to take? You are making it a grind by playing 6 hours in one day.
The issue isn’t the amount of equally skilled players, think about it, if my team is stomping to the top 10 of the leaderboards, why keep going? Unless the other top tier teams are playing; other players or teams don’t stand a chance.
Because we lack legendary, we lack the items you get from climbing tiers and there is no way to accelerate it. Just go up a one pip, one, by one, by one. Instead of playing 3-4 games a night, it’s better to play 10 or more.
And your right, to avoid sitting in queue for hours the system does its best to give us matches. A lot of matches. Making TONS of unfair matches to avoid us to sit around for too long.
Quality is a problem, but now quantity is too.

Brutal seeing this happen to a veteran tournament tiered player when at the same time you have scrubs like this gloating

edit: LOL he changed the title and original post
Awww, QQ more.
Seriously though, why do I have to farm people for days like trytonianYeti just to get to legendary?
Er, it’s the YEAR of ascension. Achievements carry over seasons.
Where does it says that?
It doesn’t, but ArenaNet isn’t that stupid. I’m pretty sure the achievements cover multiple seasons.
Otherwise it would say Season of Ascension.
And just have league divisions fight themselves out for the next couple weeks?
Er, it’s the YEAR of ascension. Achievements carry over seasons.
It’s how you get to the higher tiers is the problem:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/The-League-System-is-extemely-toxic/first#post5818570
fyi mmr is still the same one from before. my team keeps getting pro league teams because we have a fairly high mmr, so it’s impossible to farm randoms. of course sometimes it happens that you get a random enemy team but usually that’s not the case.
Usually is the key word.
We were in 5th place and still fought against a non-premades, hell, in 7th place we fought against the same guild team 3 times in a row. How the hell is that any fair to them?
Combine that with the insane amount of games you have to play, it just serves to kitten people off.
_
It’s bad enough to have bad match making, but this is rubbing salt on PvP’s open wounds.
(edited by Nova Stiker.8396)
Rewarding us for farming non-premades and stomping guilds that clearly doesn’t have equal MMR was toxic enough, but you want us to do that for 25 games?! Ruby and Diamond you want us to do that for 30+ games?!!
_
What the hell ArenaNet? You do realize that is a ton of games JUST to kitten people off?
There is a reason why you have placement matches in other games ArenaNet, it’s to prevent high skill teams from farming over and over until they get to their proper rank.
(edited by Nova Stiker.8396)
If you think you have a chance vs abjured or spoookie you’re a bigger joke than this games matchmaking.
We’ve been against the same teams 2 or 3 times, tomorrow we are going back on to climb again. At this point it feels like farming, I know there is only so much a match making system can do but come on, 3 times against the same team?
I agree the matchmaking is garbage, sure, some teams were good and put up a fight but it gets to a point where we see as an opposing team as a ticket to the top 10 instead of an actual team.
(edited by Nova Stiker.8396)
Huh, looks like I can keep running my Auramancer Cheese.
Why the heck didn’t they just say here, “We’re sorry but we’ve been too busy to do a balance update. However PvP Leagues is ready and here for you guys! <3”
Talk about letting the fire spread wildly first. Sure, we can flame them for not balancing first but why not just be front about it?
What’s funny is Metabattle thought Shiro Revenants were better.
But where are you seeing this leadboard?
Shiro/Mallyx is stupid strong.
Runs 3 condi-Revenants.
ArenaNet, at what point was this okay?
(edited by Nova Stiker.8396)
Guys quoting them on saying they will do regular balance updates won’t do any good as I’m sure they aren’t too happy how things are setup either.
What we can shame them for is releasing a PvP tournament and a competitive season in this completely broken mess.
They are clearly missing priorities and trying to cater to the non-existent large Esports crowd.
(edited by Nova Stiker.8396)
It’s not about why solo Q isn’t needed, it’s more along the lines of why not?
In League of Legends you can be Diamond in SoloQ yet be stuck at Gold rank in TeamQ, the dynamics and challenge of the game changes completely.
Let’s launch PvP League and not balance the game, cause kitten logic
With bugs, I love invisible CC!
Seriously, GW2 is a complete joke of an Esport.
I was thinking if we start reporting players that play thieves or warriors.
It worked for Evelyn in League of Legends, she was so bad and got terribly nerfed that players were reporting people just for picking that character.
https://youtu.be/kmdux6Scvh8?t=4m42s
No offense to thief or warrior mains, we love you guys but ArenaNet clearly wants you gone.
Seriously, why isn’t there a person at ArenaNet whose job is to like… Prevent this? Like, is there no Economy Motivator developer position? No ones job to encourage players to play all over the game?
(edited by Nova Stiker.8396)
It really depends on how much they increased the heroics by. Because before they weren’t even useful as account bound because there was too little.
And you can always buy superior siege with it.
It’s equal to getting 2 bonus chests, which is really nice! Easily get 6-8 per chest.
What isn’t nice is that I have to grind the Maguuma Jungle hero points for the 7th kitten time!
I think they said you can still be matched against people from other leagues so gl with that :P Matchmaking will likely be exactly the same.
Is that for real? What the kitten is the point of leagues then?
Bragging rights.
Not important, Esports more important.
ArenaNet doesn’t seem to understand, if you want to prevent people from rezzing and battling over and over, you can perma-lock the waypoint when the Keep Lord is in combat.
So, you’re saying that PvE players should be able to complete the same hero challenges over and over again on one character and tell it to unlock the elite specializations on their other characters? Because that’s the equivalent of allowing you to play one character in WvW and unlock all of the hero challenges/elite specs for all of your alts without actually earning them as that character.
Your point is moot when you can level a character to 80 with Tomes of Knowledge and going to PvP is insta level 80 with fully unlocked skills even on a level 3 character.
Agreed. I have 5 classes that I leveled to 80 before I even left the tutorial area.
Takes 1 person to cripple the movement of an entire army now.
Sorry Solo Q’ers, but I’m getting my team with TS and we are just going to grind all the way up to legendary rank by tomorrow.
Look on the bright side, you’re not alone, you have the Thief and Warriors mains to give up with.
I’m a bit speechless. Why on earth was this necessary? How can someone come up with such an idea on what’s the most important and urgent to fix in WvW? Did REALLY someone think this is a positive change?
My only guess would be that people could use Notarized Scroll of Heroics to gain experience and level a character. Is that possible? I don’t know, I have all level 80’s.
Then again, a much easier fix would be to restrict the Notarized Scroll of Heroics to have a level requirement of 80.
Other than that, this change is baffling, I barely WvW to begin with and this change makes it so I have no reason to go back.
You can no longer use them on your alternative characters to get them hero points.
Why change that?! I actually loved maxing my alts elite specs by playing my favorite classes in WvW, way to ruin the charm ArenaNet. Less WvW, more grinding hero points in the Maguuma Jungle.
This is why devs lately don’t post in the pvp section. We finally get something we’ve been waiting for years, and people immediately jump at Grouch’s throat for balance problems.
Chill out, guys.Personally I can’t wait to try out Leagues
Pfffft, I’d love if people yell at my work. It means they actually care enough to want it to be better. I hope the devs doesn’t take this harsh criticism as hatred of the game, we just want things better.
But, but Nova. I’m so skilled when I press Signet of Spite and the guy literally implodes.
NOT IMPORTANT! They got to impress all the 4,000 twitch viewers!
Hey Josh! Do us all a favor and yell at the PvP team, we don’t like this messy meta you guys made.
Nova, remember- Esports big play$$$$.
Ah yes, all the money ArenaNet is LOSING.
Not one wants to play a messy sport, let alone a sport FILLED with bugs.
Honestly this game is on the lighter side CC wise in PvP. After playing WoW and SWTOR this is a welcome respite from the constant CC wars.
tbh having done almost 4 years of pvp in sw:tor, that game’s CC is far less punishing than this one. TOR has a built in immunity mechanic to prevent chain stunlocking, and only a couple classes have more than 1 stun.
WoW is a different story though.GW2’s problem is that while the duration of individual CCs is much shorter than in other games, there is nothing in place to discourage spamming the crap out of CC, and moreover builds often have access to many different forms of CC.
I disagree, GW2’s problem is the inflation of CC. There is simply to much and it needs to be toned down.
There is no reason to have an elite skill to have 2 second AoE stun that can hit 5 players within 600 range with 8 seconds of chill. Tweek the numbers, less CC, more utility.
The amount of CC is not important.
What is extremely important is to take Guild Wars 2 as a serious Esport.
Priorities.
Except that the green circles do not one shot, they just do a ton of damage (you have probably noticed some people do not go down when they blow sometimes). Meanwhile Gorseval’s World Eater is a true one shot.
They do 90% health damage.
In other words scrap the whole Esports ambitions to keep sPvP fun for the players. Abilities are already limited enough. I can’t take all of my utilities, only 5 including the healing skill and elite. Contrast with WoW when I can bind every ability to my keyboard and know when to use said abilities. Garrote and expose armor weren’t really “good” skills compared to some of the others, but I used them anyway because I knew there were situations they’d be useful. Venom use was fun but the problem in Gw2 is you can’t use venoms since you’re giving up better skills. In PvP thief is underpowered whereas in PvE anything that requires more skills to kill will be immune to CC and be poison stacked already.
In League of Legends for the first 10 minutes of every game you play you are only pressing 4 buttons. Quality over quantity.
You can’t make every playing card equal, you can make every playing card appear equal.
Guild Wars 2 biggest problem with PvP is it is a big mess. Everything is a mess.
Reapers are the Kassadin of Guild Wars 2. They are not exactly god tier broken but their mechanics hard counters so many builds.
PvP is a mess. Reapers are an unstoppable force, Auramancers are an unbreakable wall and what we get is a giant, chaotic clashing mess that people can barely tell what is going on.
The issue with Reapers is the issue with Chill.
Chill DESTROYS all bunker builds as players will be unable to sustain the damage thanks to the -66% recharge.
In a way, Reapers completely remove an entire playstyle from the game. Only Auramancers and Revenants can sustain themselves because of the immunity. In other words, if Diamond Skin and the Revenants Resistance gets nerfed, everyone will be using zerker specs.

DPS checking on everything means the content is harder.
It also means the designers are lazy and cannot figure out how to make hard.
- Bosses have no boon strip.
- Bosses have no boon steal.
- Bosses have no boons.
- Bosses have no threatening conditions.
- Bosses have no condition removal.
- Bosses aggro priority is purely designed for luring.
- Bosses do nothing for self recovery.
- Bosses lack cleaving attacks.
- Boss adds are pathetically weak.
- Bosses are pathetically weak.
The most dangerous thing with Vale Guardian is the green circle that appears from nothing and Gorseval is a test to get him to 66% before he finishes his second AoE death attack.
I really hope ArenaNet steps up their game, so far it’s clear they don’t know how to design challenging encounters let alone understand their own game.
It’s hard for all the wrong reasons and is just overall frustrating, mainly because the bosses are just a DPS check. Battling a timer is not as fun as battling a boss.
(edited by Nova Stiker.8396)
That is a giant to do list.
Half of that list would take months to do.
It irks me that they’ve never learnt their lesson about spammy passive plays that are dumb to watch; they did acknowledge that the presence of S/D thieves and their petting zoo ranger/full signet warriors approach from a year and half ago was the wrong way to go; yet flash forward to the present, we have a Tempest/Herald/Reaper rock-paper-scissors meta that relies on Diamond Skin and passive Herald boons
The AoE spam in team fights is still bad with the heavy amounts of AoE CC; it’s at least better than the EarthShaker hambow spams from before but different professions, same mistakes.
And of course the feel that they are spending HoT money marketing the broken crap instead of fixing things (I know that funding development doesn’t really work that way but still).
ArenaNet will proudly disagree:
http://fortune.com/2015/11/24/areanet-investing-in-esports/?xid=soc_socialflow_twitter_FORTUNE
I’ve already made tons of threads regarding why Guild Wars 2 cannot be an Esport unless certain things are fixed and changed.
If ArenaNet actually took a step back and said, “We won’t be an Esport until it’s ready” will help them become an Esport. ArenaNet stop being tryhards and start taking Esports seriously.
I want to trade my 1,000 Tomes of Knowledge for Proof of Heroics thank you.
It’s been around since release, some reason the veterans would spawn at a lower level. From what I can tell it only happens when you are the only one in the event.
Get rid of Diamond Skin when you have Reapers stop being the hard counter to all bunker builds.
Yesterday and today I killed the Treasure Mushrooms in Aurin Basin, Verdent Brink and Tangled Depths, 6 Treasure Mushrooms and they are not giving their daily rewards.
I don’t know why, the Treasure Mushroom in Aurin Basin I SOLO’ED and it didn’t give anything.
This might be an issue with the game not resetting the daily for the Treasure Mushroom event rather than the drop itself.
I’ve been farming the Treasure Mushrooms daily ever since I heard about the invisible slippers and now I’m being gipped of my daily chances
EDIT: The event is not resetting at all, I got also 900 experience from my daily kill in Aurin Basin?! It’s almost like it hasn’t reset over the past couple days.

This is quite disheartening. Anet did not deliver on their promise that elite specs are meant to be a different way to play the class instead of direct upgrades. The elite specs are direct upgrades for every class other than Warriors and in that case, the entire class has become obsolete and forgotten.
ArenaNet also said raids are not ideal for zerker gear and really bring out the most from your class. Well, raids REQUIRE zerkers.
Somewhere the design team screwed up, I can only wonder what the next balance patch will bring.
Hahaha and the people on the ele forums thought that tempest would never see the light of day in high level pvp. How about them apples.
Because 99% of ele players are bad. I’m starting to use Warhorn on Tempest and I’m actually liking it.
It’s funny how Anet nerfed Automated Response (Condition duration is reduced by 100% when health is below 25%) for engi then introduced a similar trait for Ele’s but made it proc at 90% health lol.
Considering it was much harder for an Engie to sit between 0 and 25% health for prolonged periods (using your heal skill once would push you too high, for example) than it is for an Ele to sit between 90 and 100%? Yeah.
To fall below 100%, you’d need to take ~1,500 damage on a cele ele.
On a ele Tempest, you have a stronger protection, perma regen plus vigor and a constant flow of auras that heal 1,000+ health.
(edited by Nova Stiker.8396)
Bigger capture points will greatly reduce the clutter.
Agreed, nobody cares about this nonsense
I arrived there, and more than a handful of people I know arrived there because of the ad. They’ve never been really good about getting schedules out. So me, and the 9,000 other people that watched EU, probably would disagree with you.
It’s pretty common to think your opinion is fact, but you need to try to move beyond your own mind and think about other people and what they want.
9,000? Compare it to League of Legends 32,000,000
You would think it would give ArenaNet the hint they should fix and improve PvP
