Also, might be a bit off topic, but do you get a stack of decimate defenses whenever you hit an enemy with a new skill or does it stack whenever you deal damage? I’m mainly looking at Death Spiral here (I assume you apply 6x 2 stacks of vuln), so you’d get 5 stacks off a mob, which would be pretty ridiculous and the main reason why I think it doesn’t work like this. lol Also, is there an ICD/stack cap/what’s the duration on each stack?

I’m obviously assuming a ~7minute raid boss fight (for this build, I wouldn’t use it anyway cuz of blood magic)

You don’t stack decimate defenses – you only stack vuln. Depending how much vuln the mob has at the moment you hit, your crit chance adjusts accordingly

Ah, I see, makes sense. Not sure why I interpreted the description as “you stack decimate defenses” and not as “you get higher crit chance the more vuln stacks are on the enemy.”

I’m a big fan of Reaper, I think it’ll turn out to be quite decent damage, not the best as in it surely won’t match Engi capabilities and probably not Ele, but it’ll be up there I’m quite sure (people reporting 42k gravediggers I see 25-30k in more optimal group conditions just playing through some fractals/arah but 20k+ almost for sure).

So yeah, it’s nice

that’s an interesting build but I’d take spite signet instead of corruption well, and maybe corrupter’s fervor for more dmg :P

I only clicked around a bit to look for ads/compare them with the main page; to me, it doesn’t feel intrusive at all.
When looking at the Glossary I was about to suggest using anchors (I think that’s the name for it) when I noticed “Aura” used another abbreviation (PBAoE) in it’s explanation, but when going through the page I didn’t find more instances of an explanation using another abbreviation. Maybe make it so that whenever a term found in the Glossary is used on other page, said term is clickable and opens a little pop-up with the explanation found on the Glossary? I’m not sure how often this would be the case/how much effort this is considering they could just leave it open on another tab.

Also, probably not exactly what you’re looking for, but the combat and skipping pages are outdated. Shouldn’t take too long to get them up to date again though?

I’m gonna look at it again later, maybe I’ll find/can think of some more stuff.

I wonder how people mentioned bugs that making Mai Trin kill easier but nobody even mentioned famous barrage bugs when you can be killed outside of red circles by barrage projectiles.

That’s not exactly a bug, the old AoE-indicators are just unprecise; one of the reasons they started using the new orange ones in the first place. Would be nice if they retroactively applied the new indicators for some encounters, though.

Interesting, I was pretty sure Reaper could go anchor role, I am really hoping for some Power Toughness Ferocity, or Power Condi Ferocity gear. Think that’ll be enough toughness though? I wonder what the threshold for agro control is. And, kitten , I think I might actually have to finish my LS stuff if I wanna play condi Engi as I have a few rabid trinket stuff.

Power Toughness Ferocity exists already… Well, Toughness Power Ferocity, close enough. Power as main stat would be interesting though.

scratches head. We’re actually wanted in fractals? …..dear Grenth I’ve been playing the wrong content.

Before I played necro I was always skeptical at having one in the party, but after playing it myself I completely reject the view that it does not offer anything worthwhile to the party. Since the vampric aura change along with a new projectile block necro has become a solid defensive support class while still being able to provide very high amounts of vulnerability to the party.

I actually have to agree with that. Before I stopped playing, I always found myself to have some skills that have proven to be useful in specific encounters during a fractal run, even more so when pugging. Felt good to be able to provide something to the group in various situations.
Yesterday I found the time to try out some things and I… was pretty amazed. I mean sure, Necros are still no must have (not like they ever will be, but their design/how Anet wants them to be doesn’t really allow for this anyway imo), but they jumped up a lot in usefulness.

At lvl 40/50 you need you need to complete 4 rooms to progress to the boss and the prisoner room is the only one that can’t be retried after it’s activated so if it fails there would be no way to complete the fractal and progress forward so in order to prevent this from happening Anet just left the door to the panel open so you can get the completion of it even if you don’t rescue the prisoners. At lower levels you only need 3/4 thus failing the room wouldn’t block progress.

That… kinda makes sense? Except not really but either way, so basically they said "ok have a free room, but you get a buff if you actually complete it! "

Pretty much. Lets be honest though, there would be those guys who’d try to fail the event on purpose just to kitten their party off.

Since I really don’t want to find out the hard way: I know the instance ownership system has been changed months ago, but I can’t remember how they changed instance closing. It gets closed if no one is inside, doesn’t matter if a party is formed or not, right? I.e. if I have someone standing outside in my party, I’m inside, I dc, instance is gone?

They beat the enrage timer in suboptimal gear after 1 day of trying by over a full minute… the boss needs more HP if anything not less.

More damage doesn’t change anything. Damage is mostly mitigated not absorbed.

Your comment of “suboptimal” gear illustrates my point entirely.

ANet claimed (obviously pre-emptively) “the Zerker meta is dead.”

The only thing “suboptimal” about their gear is that they could have had more people running Zerker (and thus higher DPS).

Perhaps the HP doesn’t need a nerf, but the boss needs something to ensure that healing & tanking are just as important as DPS.

They were not completely optimal set up afaik, also we (read: you guys) barely had any time to really test out the raid. Who knows what strats/setups people will come up with? There’s also those mushrooms no one was able to use, which apparently boost your attack speed – that’s more dps, too.

The timer and HP seem, as of now, completely fine. Adjustments could be made once it’s out, but I don’t feel like it’s going to be necessary from what I’ve seen.

I also don’t ever recall ANet saying “zerker is ded”, they were saying that they wanted to make other combinations besides Berserker more useful; considering they had multiple Sinisters (to be fair, it’s basically the cond-equivalent to Berserker) and some more tanky-ish builds, I think that’s fine. Also remember that this is the first boss of who knows how many (well I don’t), we can’t even tell what setups the next (mini-)bosses are best fought with.

Items with selectable stats never show them when linked to a chat. Going to be even more fun with legendary armors.

You’ll never know where the Nomads lurk.
Even if they add a function to show the currently selected stats on ping, what’s stopping them from swapping to Berserker and then going back to Apothecary stats

Still think a way to see other people’s gear/skins/minipets/etc. would be nice, but I digress

Dear Diary,

Today I realize that my favorite 2 x (PS War, Guard, Staff ele, Chrono, Herald’s) group comp is falling out of meta.

Our team comp was 3 reapers, 2 heralds, 2 druids, 2 chrono’s, one guard.

Our biggest mistake was the reapers. They are still bottom tier DPS and DPS is where we suffered most. We just couldn’t do enough damage to get the boss below 50%.

We made it to phase 2 every attempt, even almost cleared phase 2 once, but our dps was not enough to burst down the individual bosses fast enough. I think in future runs if we make sure we don’t have any necros we should have enough dps to get further. If we swapped out the necros/reapers for sinister engineers I think we probably would have had enough time.

I thought the encounter was sufficiently challenging, with a good mix of mechanics, hp, and situational awareness required. Random PUGS’s won’t clear it, and organized pugs may clear it once the best class comp is known.

I am right when I said that I should wait until raid becomes farm-status.

Where did you get that post from? Because I really don’t want that first part to be true. Or was it the setup you guys actually went for?

From someone who seems experienced in the Raid Boss fight.

Welp, I hope they’re not right in regards to Reaper DPS then. I mean Reaper on its own already seems to be a step up in terms of “how can I help my party”, but if the DPS is going to suck…

For those who don’t understand it: He’s asking for info on the raid BWE and if there’s going to be an extension/another raid-test. He’s also saying that there’s no communication in the language-specific forums, at least the german one.

Afaik there’s no info on if there’s an extension or another “compensation” (so to say) weekend for raid testing, but someone else might know more. Maybe one of those who always leave a trail of red when they post? :v

(Gibt momentan soweit ich weiß keine Infos über ein extra-WE für den Raid-test, vielleicht weiß wer anders mehr. Yes its possible again.

I want to start doing more solos in the future. Since i now actually have a computer which can record high quality without dropping my fps to a slideshow. But that will require free time which i dont have much of. And i only plan to do it after HoT releases. So there will be a long period after HoT releases where im busy with actual new content first.

Time to step up my game then.

Heh, yeah, I got a new computer too which runs GW2 properly, but I never got around to actually try it, but unlike you, there’s nothing really interesting I could record. lol
Looking forward to your Necro HoT-gameplay though.

Why has the game become like this?

Because people are running the same old content up and down for up to three+ years now with only minor changes, one actual new dungeon path and the expense of an old one while there are still annoying bugs which ANet doesn’t fix because they lack a proper fix, give the issue a low priority or whatever else may apply.

Dungeons are as stale as they possibly could be and it won’t change.

I think pretty much everything we can apply on a boss already has an icon in the status bar. Just let us turn off those effects if we want.
Also wtb an option to make small bosses (looking at you, Asuras) larger, though that’s an entirely different thing

I usually run these “Zerker/Meta” groups (Often as a Necro, even. Most people don’t give a kitten… Though it probably helps that I also offer to swap to my Ele if they desire) but I just found this one laughable——He’s running what is essentially the weakest link in the current meta and excluding people who are probably less hazardous to bring than him (If his inability to spell, is any indication)

…but a Ranger brings more to a party than a Necro

Would love to know what the % of people who actually read the LFG message instead of just the title. Lately I’ve seen an overwhelming amount of either lowbies joining 80s/meta/zerker/experienced groups, or people with < 1000 AP who quite clearly have no idea what they’re doing.

Well, in all fairness, those new players don’t know some of the terms, so if your description consists of those they don’t understand… Just gotta explain to them.

Wrong. Actually, a great many of us do understand there are different roles for each class already, just in a different way, and that’s great! It is great because the current self-heal system allows each and every player to play out their primary roles while having to rely only on themselves to stay alive (for the most part) when it comes to healing, and that is a lot more fun than having someone else holding your hand doing all the healing for you who you are not always sure is going to do a good job of it!

That is why if you want a job done right how you want it, do it yourself! And what way is better than the self-heal way to ensure that? At least you know if you die it is, more so than not, because of you and not somebody else. My point is if you do a terrible job healing, you can improve your gameplay, yet if somebody else does a terrible job healing, you cannot always improve their gameplay (if at all).

Oh, I was mainly talking to those people who said that we “finally get roles” and whatnot.
What I wanted to say though is that each class does different things anyway. If all classes were the same, we could just stack 5 warriors/any other class and call it a day. Each class brings different options, yep, and with that they bring different kinds of support. Which I why I don’t understand when people say “all classes are the same/there are no different roles” – This clearly stems from the fact that people are looking at stat combinations too much and not enough at their skills and what they can do with them.

Also, you were always able to play how you want. It’s your fault for not starting your own groups and/or joining berserker parties when not running berserker.

Of course many of us have played how we wanted. Furthermore, just because certain players do not choose to run with a berserker group does not mean they are at fault for anything, and does not mean they have never started their own groups by running setups other than berserker. Sure. Berserk may seem like the only way, yet that does not mean it is the only way…

However, I fear Healers are generally going to be, or seem to be, too much of the only way more so than the Berserker way, and that is what I do not want to see.

Again, there were people here who implied that they couldn’t play like they want to because of the “bad berserker meta”. It also seems you misunderstood me: I never meant that people are at fault for playing something else, but it’s likely they’re at fault for getting kicked from, lets say, berserker advertised groups when joining as something else.
Berserker is far from being the only way, but it’s the most efficient way, which is how it should be in a game like this. You’re supposed to rely on your skills to survive; both dodging and proper use of active defense like reflects and blocks. Defensive gear in PvE is more of a safety net (though I don’t like it, as going full berserker immediately forces you to play at your best, so you learn the most as you’re not allowed to kitten up badly) and that is how it should be in GW2. You can either throw your passive defense out of the window for the highest risk and highest reward, or you play safe and take longer. Expecting five defensive builds (for example) to be as fast as five berserkers is just weird.
I mean, with water fields you already were able to heal rather well, soo…

Knowing the community, dungeons will never be played as intended. Unless its a super-uber-casual group.

How are dungeons intended to be played? I mean you surely must be a dev at ANet if you know what the “intended” way is.

Also the addition of a healer made Anet once again betray their philosophy when it comes to this game. gg Anet.

What exactly was this in response to? The link is nice and all, but it doesn’t say how dungeons are meant to be played. They’re saying they wish mobs to be more engaging to combat and whatnot, that’s all.

Ah, fair enough.
Well, I still don’t really agree with that. Yes, ANet always was for “hey you can tackle content how you want” but with the upcoming healers, the fact that they want to make content where dodging is not enough and other things makes it feel like they aim for a classic trinity after all, even if it’s just to a lesser extent.

So, just read up on dulfy and saw this:

“Upcoming content will have stuff that you can’t just dodge to survive.”

Necro still didn’t get any active defenses for himself, right? I.e. I’d need to be carried even harder by my team?

You got a block on reaper soul and a blind on gsword at the very least.

Welp, a block is not much, but at least something. Blind is… well, if trash will be the main offender (which is unlikely) then it’s helpful, if it’s bosses it won’t have much effect anyway/will be way to unreliable (except they changed the blind success rate too?)

Then compare it to the ele. How is it that make you feel inferior in terms of active defense? That block isnt a single attack block either. It’s a channeling skill.

I’d argue that D/F has a good amount of active defense while still being viable. Ring of Earth blocks/reflects projectiles (or did they change that? They never mentioned in the skill description, but it was able to do that.), then you have Swirling Winds to destroy projectiles in a rather large range, a bonus evade on Burning Speed (though I’ll admit, it’s pretty unreliable), Obsidian Flesh and you can technically slot Arcane Shield or Mist Form.

Of course, a staff ele has much less active defense/most Eles throw active defense out of the window as far as it’s not better to slot it in said situation, but the difference is that they have such options, should the need for them arise.

Knowing the community, dungeons will never be played as intended. Unless its a super-uber-casual group.

How are dungeons intended to be played? I mean you surely must be a dev at ANet if you know what the “intended” way is.
