Add me with almost 700 opened bags and a friend of mine who opened about 500 too. Both of us got nothing at all, not even a Favor of the Pavillon.
The drop rate for the items inside the Chances can’t be right, seeing that the only chance to get them (especially the backpiece-recipe) is during this event which will probably stay between two to four weeks.
All the other drops which can be gained by opening the Chances have horrendously low chances too.
The method of acquisition is absolutely awful. A few lucky lottery winners will get it just like precursors. Why couldn’t it be something like trade in 500 Gauntlet tokens (Example) for the recipe? Everything locked behind mindless RNG for which there are clear winners and far more losers is really depressing.
That would’ve been a wonderful idea. Hell, even if the items acquired this way are accountbound, I wouldn’t care at all. They could still allow you to open them in order to get the same items without them being bound, but then you’d do it at your own risk…
I opened the 50 I had saved before the patch notes went up but after I updated. I got the favor.. so I guess that is something more than a token. I was just really hopeful it was going to be a bug fix for this recipe drop.
That hasn’t anything to do with the patch though. Just “luck” on your part.
They need to up the droprate for EVERYTHING in there, whatever there may be inside, or, if they really do not want to do this under any circumstances for whatever reason, up the amount of Tokens so that you can keep rolling as long as you keep winning and add a few silver…
Sigh, the “prestige” argument again. “Forget them, I got mine!”
Your right.
We should dull all content down, make it so that everyone gets everything they want and completely shaft the veteran players at every opportunity.
Please tell me what was difficult about the Southsun event to get the 2 backpieces, or the Flame and Frost event to get the Fused Gauntlets etc
By veteran players he probably means all those who play the game for long enough, not those who happened to join a week before the event started and now can get that stuff too.
The skins rarely are THAT good, but they show that the player who is wearing the skins played the game at least since that LS-release. I can understand that some people want to keep it this way.
Well, it obviously was a bug.
What are people doing for Humble Victor?
I burned most of my tickets on 8-orb Liadri so I don’t have much left to keep experimenting with.
I’m actually working on ‘Blobs, Schmobs’ as well. I didn’t do the pavilion last year but judging by the video it looks like it was a lot different. The adds spawn on the boss instead of on the PC.
I find that when I take my time on it, the boss ends up outhealing. If I go for about 75% and then rush to kill, I end up killing adds. Has anyone come up with a good way to do this?
I used a zerker warrior. Rifle with sigil of accuracy + air, piercing trait to make sure you keep hitting boss (strafe if you’re piercing adds). Just use 1-4 rotation, and finish with kill shot. I don’t think I even ended up switching to sword/final thrust for the last bit.
Zerker-MM with D/F and Staff ob Subject 7, easy going.
Liadri is by far not too hard, actually, she is too easy.
Adapt to her, change your traits, your weapons, your playstyle.
Post your class and gear so that we can give you tips.
General tips include that both the clones and shadowfall AoE zones spawn in a pattern and that should you stick as much as possible to the center of the arena in Phase 2, so that it’s easier to dodge the aoe or to don’t even dodge at all.
If cripple is your problem, get a 25% Increased Movement Speed Signet or Trait or get a decent Swiftness Buff. etc.
how soon people forget….
I want to forget, but I can’t. So many runs wasted…
574 gauntlet bags opened resulted in 2 favors of the pavilion and 572 tokens. A friend of mine is up to over 1200 and hasn’t seen the recipe drop either.
I rarely ever complain about things that ANet does, but this is just bad. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect things to be handed out like candy, but this is pretty ridiculous.
Haven’t even seen a single one on the TP, and the buy price is up to 1400g as of a few minutes ago…
2 Favors? Consider yourself lucky then…
What did you guys exactly expect for your shards? Precursor? Free exotics? A bag of 10 T6 mats?
Level Up Tomes for example. Stuff you not even necessarily need to sell but is at least useful.
I’m 100% confident the drop rate is bugged.
Anet came out and investigated that the drop rate wasn’t bugged. But surely you all remember the Final Rest fiasco?
The fact that there has only been at least 1 drop so far just shows how are it is. Or it may also show that so few people are playing this update? I dunno..
There are more than 1 drop. Also not a lot of people farming it due to tickets costing 20s for 5. All in all its just a bad situation
600+ Gauntlet Chances opened by me, not a single drop. Other people opened multiple hundred too, they got nothing either. The drop rate HAS to be bugged or this is the worst thing ANet ever pulled regarding RNG, and they pulled a lot of bad things.
Switch out “terrible” with “nonexistent” and you’re right.
Your gear? Zerker, Knights, Cleric?
I did it with my Nec and I remember doing them first try, so you should be able to do it with guard.
Did you try using a Hammer and Sword/Focus with an rather offensive trait setup (blindness applies vulnerability etc.)?
Iirc they said “it’s not sure how long the event is going” so it’ll probably be either two or four weeks.
Sure, they’ll add a “Custom Aspect Arena Time Token” to the Gemstore. You then can play with your friends for a day.
This applies for any drop that may (or rather may not) come out of the Gauntlet Chances.
I’ll try it again with approximately 100 Chances again if I still get nothing at all, I’ll prolly file a bugreport as this simply cannot be intended.
I’d understand if you at least get a few silver when opening the Chances, especially when killing t3-enemies with Gambits, or a few more entrance tickets so that you at least can keep killing, but that one Festival Token you get is a huge joke, even more so when you look at how much work it is to get those tickets in comparison to last time. Ironically you also got better rewards last time.
Also 500+ Gauntlet Chances opened btw.
ANet, finally give me my friggin Monocle after I had no luck in all the other events you were able to get it.
How did you guys manage to farm 400 gauntlet chances? o.o is there a fast way to do that?
I spent quite a lot mats on the zephyrite boxes, they can drop entrance tickets and tokens. Had some left etc.
ofc it doesnt work, have you ever tried reporting the goldseller bots, 5 days later and he’s still spamming divinity’s map chat
They actually ban them quite fast, at least some of them.
The only two achievements I have left are the 8 orb one with Liadri (didn’t bother by now) and the one where you have to deny Chomper the meat (never bothered with it either, probably never will), but the achievements are far from too hard.
I’m now at exactly 500 Gauntlet Chances. Still not a single drop, nothing. No Favors, no Pets, no Monocle, no Recipe, nothing.
You practically throw away your money and tokens right now as it seems.
Yeah, this needs to be fixed asap. I posted this once in mapchat without knowing what it does… well. You prolly know how it went.
Again a thread “I’m a pathetic Lemmings brainless QQ”. Go L2P.
lalz.
Yeah, HE wants to split up but the other people won’t, he sure is the pathetic brainless lemming.
You should prolly turn your brain on before posting.
If this is true, I’m just going to stop believing in ANet.
This would be the epitome of ridiculousness.Actually, yes, unlike every other item which looks the same across weights (on land aquabreather, gas mask, dragon horns, etc) Monocle requires you to get one of each armor weight.
Thank you for shattering any hope I had left. Also, thank you for the information, so I’m not saddened when I buy the cheapest one and it doesn’t unlock for all classes.
No, it is not possible to get them.
Opened about 100, no special tokens.
The best way to farm these is to do Hamli with all gambits except for the outnumbered one.
If there is a patch coming, do not log out. Instead, remain in the map until you get kicked, that way you do not have any competition.
I prefer Subject 7 as Necro, but yeah, Hamli should work too.
Deadeye Dunwell Farm was “nerfed” iirc; he instantly tries to snipe you now.
Exactly. The mechanics are good, just remember to make it actually somewhat rewarding…
I’ve got Monocle from 5th and nothing else since then
Seriously. I opened 300+ Gauntlet Chances just for a Monocle and got NOTHING. So the RNG is ridiculously bad, as usual… Ty for that ANet.
If you used it, can you at least tell me if you unlock the skin for all three weight classes or just for one?
iirc from the wardrobe thread when it was first released, it only unlocked that weight class, which means you’d have to get one for each
I could be wrong though, as I don’t have a monocle to try it with. Hopefully someone with one can tell us.
If this is true, I’m just going to stop believing in ANet.

Wow. Just yesterday I complained to a friend that 49 rewards are kitten (I didn’t get anything for approx. 10 49 runs in a row, before that I got a cleric uninfused ring, which broke a streak of exactly 17 49 runs of getting nothing at all) and that I get at least 4s95c as a bonus reward by running fracs below 40 and now I see this.
Guess I’ll stay away from high level fractals for now.
Thank you for collecting all that data.

why should I have to guest other servers or organize with a guild(s) to get an achieve that should be doable across every server equally regardless of population, organization or peek hours.
I never said that you have to do either.
I did say that I dislike that kind of achievement too and that they should stop implementing achievements where you have to depend on other players while doing open world events, but that doesn’t make them impossible.
@Moon: That’s because of the buggyness though… Should really be fixed though.

Novaan, its not about “us failing in our challenge”. Its not a player challenge. Its just a question of luck, or oyu get a miracle try, or you will not achiev.
Luck =/= Challenge
While I admit that this is true (and I also dislike server-achievements, but that’s a different topic), you don’t really need a “miracle”, but an organized server. Overflows will most likely not do it (that’s why I want the district system back), but main servers have pretty good chances.
Assult Knights too hard to fight?

I agree that they might need a bit of adjustment, but not too much.
After all, we’ve been complaining for a year that there’s no “hard” content. I would hate to see it made care-bear easy.
DPS-checks/HP-bubbles that can’t do much aren’t hard content. Wurm is only hard because of the amount of coordination required and the strict time limit.
Take a look at games like Dark Souls if you want genuinely challenging content which is based on skill.

Psychol, it’s a challenge to have all achievs for more players, even if you win nothing more.
There we have it. It’s a challenge. It’s doable, but it’s not easy. If you can’t get it with your server, you either need to try harder or give up.
Just because something is hard to achieve, it doesn’t need to be removed. You don’t need to do it, as you said it yourself. You failed your own challenge, such things happen, get over it.
What they should do though is reverting the toughness of the knights back to normal.
BG made it to 2nd phase yesterday
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ry9AExhlW6g
So the last phase is simply a DPS-check? Hooray.
After two out of three wurms, i suspect that ANet didn’t take into account mob scaling when designing this event. I swear i have seen mobs spawn that scale so high i only do glancing damage to them.
And with no reliable taunt or other aggro control the mobs are switching targets randomly, milling about like ants on a caffeine binge.
Husks can only be killed with Condition Damage, if you mean those.
So ANet is trying to break the zerker meta, in the worst possible fashion. Btw, i don’t see anything in the “vaunted” target description that informs me of this. And they seem to mill about the field in mass numbers…
Exactly. Funny thing is, the condition-cap is still there. So, the more condition users you have to kill the husks, the less damage you will do on the wurms.

2) If you don’t like it, don’t do it.
This is true. If you don’t like the idea of Overflows, then go do other content. You have to realize that you’re not the only person who wants to play this event. Each map can only hold a finite amount of players at a time. Once you understand this, then you’ll understand why Overflows exist.
First off, I like the new content, and I want to play it with friends, my guild and people from my server. Why am I not allowed to, if I don’t stand there a hour before the event begins? I get that this is Anet’s idea of reviving medium level zones though.
I understand why they exist, but I don’t understand why they exist in the form they are right now.
Europe servers have a MASSIVE language barrier, not matter which overflow I join, I usually see three languages (english, french, german) mixed, sometimes even more. No one understands each other, which dooms any attempt at coordination even more.
Why can’t anet simply make overflows server-wide or at least make european overflows that they only pick up people from german, french or english servers? This would solve the biggest problem with european overflows. If there are 300 people trying to play with their friends as well, how do you put priorities on who gets in or not? We all want to play with our friends or guildies. But maps have limitations on how many players can exist simultaneously.
If Anet made Overflows to be server specific, that would be a drain on resources. Not all servers need them, so it would be a waste to allocate space in that way. As for the language barriers that exist, since Europe requires American to be taught as the secondary language, perhaps everyone can speak that?
Make it instanced, problem fixed.
Allow me to pull my whole guild/friends over to an overflow, problem fixed.
Overflows are opened when one is needed, they aren’t open all the time. So it doesn’t matter at all.
Just because something is taught at school doesn’t mean everyone can understand, let alone speak it. Judging from what I’ve seen here in Germany, most people who take english lessions (i.e. everyone who goes to school now) simply suck at it; many people which are 30+ did never learn english at all since having english classes is rather “new” in Germany.
And even if everyone could speak english fine, if someone chooses a server which is made for germans, he probably wants to play with fellow germans, austrians and swiss people and don’t want to speak english. If you want to argue with “In this case, they have to” I’d like to refer to what you originally quoted. If they prefer speaking their mother language, no one can blame them. This still makes it harder to coordinate overflows.
I for my part do speak english in overflows, because imo it’s the appropriate thing to do, but not everyone shares my opinion on that topic.
Because you were too slow in clicking the button. Once the Travel appears, it’s first come, first serve. With multiple Overflows popping by the minute, you have hundreds of players attempting to grab that one lone spot in the main.
I think people in a party with a party member in the main have a better chance at getting in.
This is kitten through at this is supposed to be a waiting queue, not a waiting pool, even if I know that it indeed is a pool. If I’m next in line I should get time to use my chance until the timer runs out. Not “first come first serve”.

Trial and error works in games like Dark Souls or in dungeons, because you can instantly re-attempt it and are a small group, which makes it easy to coordinate.
Trial and error does not work at events which require 100+ (150 in case of the Wurm, as Anet stated) without any coordination. ANet thinks too good of the community. 150 players probably means that EVERYONE on the map has to participate, which will never happen. Some guys are just around to explore, idle etc., hell, sometimes even guilds do their bounties or whatever there. Overflows are even worse for Europe, as we have 4 languages (German, Spanish, French and English) and I know that the former three often dislike speaking in English or are not capable of it because they never learned it. In combination with the “usual” overflow problems, it is close to impossible to get everything coordinated.
“I have to sit around and wait for the event instead of wandering around the zone doing events to pass the time. Abloo bloo bloo.” No one is forcing you to stay in place.
Lornar’s Pass and Bloodtide Coast don’t have much to offer after you 100%ed them on your chars. Most events are easily done with a lv80 Char and aren’t much more than autoattack. Scarlet’s devices are rarely attackable too, so you can’t even do that. Admittedly, Bloodtide Coast has Covington, but if the whole map goes after one boss… well, you can expect how it ends. Even if she scales up like there’s no tomorrow.
Funny enough, we had it happen more than once today that using a waypoint while being on the main server has a chance to put you on an overflow – even if the waypoint is on the same map you are on. So you can’t even simply use waypoints as it could kick you out of the main server.
“Content is too easy!!! It’s a zerg fest!!!”
“Content is too hard!!! Zones are becoming ghost towns!!!”
Official Forums: Always complaining.
It’s not about the difficulty of the encounters.
It’s about the fact that you have to wait two hours for the new content to play it, be a hour+ earlier on the map in order not to get on a overflow (which automatically means you fail most of the time), sitting there not being able to do anything just to have an (good) encounter for 15-20min and then wait again. Yay.
In case of the Wurm you waited two hours and then started the event, just so that one of the vigil crusader’s bugs out, rendering you unable to fight the Wurm, wasting your time completely! Yaaay!
It pops up without informing you after participating once in the Marionette fight. If you don’t read it up somewhere or notice it randomly, you won’t notice it’s there.
Yeah, assuming a huge mass of randoms will be able to do all of this stuff at once is pretty outrageous.
The boss needs to have its
- Cannon charge either be A LOT slower, or reset when you take down a chain, which seems fair.
- Make the portal charge faster, or at least make it more clear how fast it is. Is it on a timer? Does the number of enemies we kill matter?
-Yeah, we need a way to help other zones. All sorts of problems could happen
- Make it more clear how the hell we destroy the chains in the first place. I THINK it has something to do with all 5 groups taking out their guardian, but the game doesn’t tell you.
- MORE TESTING. These problems could easily have been seen by placing unfamiliar testers into the environment.
Think of this as tower defense.
Watchwork enemies go in, laser charges. Keep watchwork enemies out, laser doesn’t charge/decharges. Therefore, watchwork enemies > main target.
Gates open one after another starting with bottom lane, going up to the top lane. Top lane obviously has to hold out for the longest time before they can first enter.
Another screenie. Also with time (GMT +1) in bottom right corner :-)
Please tell me that’s not all the loot you got.
Congrats!
The idea of a trial and error fight would be fine..if the boss fight wasn’t on a 2 hour respawn timer.
Another reason why content like this should be instanced. If you want to make hair ripping, finger nail biting, eye gougingly difficult content that requires lots of coordination, trial and error, and the like, do so in an instance where players can attempt it as many times as they’d like.
Putting it out in the world, where people can join at a whimsey without knowing what’ going on, in amazing blue and green gear, against a boss that is hard to kill, and when fails takes 2 hours to attempt again does not, will not, and shall not work. We said it before Tequatl, we said it during Tequatl, we said it AFTER Tequatl, and kitten ed if we didn’t say it before this event, and now during this event.
It.Does.Not.Work. Stop forcing your players to participate in raid content in an open world environment. We want hard, raid-esque content, we do. But we don’t want it in the open world where a few can ruin the experience for many, and the punishment for failure because of said few is to wait 2 hours to attempt it again.
Summed it up PERFECTLY. +1
As someone said in another thread.
If you don’t wait in the map, you risk missing it.
So to do it, you have to wait in the map.
That means you can’t do anything but wait, which is kinda sad.Edit: On top of that you get a black screen during the fight and have to restart the game to end up in an overflow…
It’s the first day, everybody is trying to do it. Give it a few days and you’ll be able to just go on the hour. Heck, even today I posted in guild chat when the 5 minute timer popped and was able to ferry in a few guildies (didn’t hit hard cap).
Even if not, it starts at the same time everywhere, including overflows, and you’d have to be really unlucky to get an empty overflow.
Overflows ARE the problem.
Uncoordinated, from different servers, no TS, lots of afks and on europe servers, a language barrier.
I’d have no problem with overflows if they’re server-wide, not continent-wide, so that communication is still possible. But as it is, overflows almost guarantee you that you’re going to fail.
Also, on Elona Reach you still have to be there a hour earlier if you want to kill Teq, sometimes even earlier. If you’re lucky and someone dc’s, you can get his place, but “right mouse button > scroll down > left mouse button > spacebar > repeat” isn’t fun either.
World bosses with such an amount of coordination NEED seperate instances, simple as that.
Am I the only one who likes this patch?
Yes.
Standing around for 2 hours waiting for it to begin, and still not having been let in when the fighting stops is not fun.Why are you standing around for two hours? You know you can show up later and make it right? They both spawn every two hours, so just show up like 10 minutes before to set up.
So that you join an overflow with NO coordination at all which will ensure that everything kittens up? No thank you.
2h for Marionette.
Probably 2h for Wurm too.
I could be wrong though, as I don’t have a monocle to try it with. Hopefully someone with one can tell us.
