Gonna out myself as a forum noob again, but if anyone could tell me what BHB stands for… I’d be thankful.
Why? I don’t see the point in it. I played through the personal story with all of my chars, partly to get rid of the story symbol in the upper right corner, partly for the loot (and partly because I’m a masochist I guess) and now I have the symbol back and can’t get rid of it. Furthermore, I can’t do the story achievements with my warrior for example, because I only did the steps with my necromancer and I have the achievements unlocked. This does not make much sense to me imo.
Inb4 you’re not forced to do the story with every character. – I know I’m not, I still don’t see the point behind the system and I’d very much like to see the living story steps made account wide.
I mades dis.
Should’ve used a picture of battlecat for the berserker kitten.
There is something about the healer chests also.
Out of 13 chests i got 11 healers, and 3 out of 4 weapons with healing.Could i be just unlucky?
Possible
but how much are the chances?
You’re unlucky. Most chest drops in our guild are defenders.
Is there a way to drastically lower the amount of spell effects that are displayed? Having a hard time reading tells when the boss is covered in guardian’s burning or other such thing and my mouse isn’t directly over it.
Sadly not. It bothers me too, especially when you have what feels like 5 different types of burning on a boss + a dozen other effects. Imo they should allow you to turn off effects you can see in the status bar of the enemy, that would help at least a bit.
So a room where either physical or condition damage doesn’t work = skill?
No boons allowed = skill?I don’t get it. For the first situation, you’d either be completely useless or have to run a half condition, half physical damage build (also useless). Also, why no boons in a room? Explain why that would make sense.
Furthermore, it isn’t turning into “Lfg insert class and build here” and you aren’t restricted to three of your chars either. If you want to play whatever class, do it. I play my necro often, even in pugs and except for some rare cases, no one ever complained.
Most people seem to want an Ele, War, or Guard. I have seen multiple LFG’s up looking for very specific classes. The time I get to play (after work and hanging out with my daughter) I am running into more of these than normal PUGs
I can only say it again, open your own groups. If you only see groups which search for specific classes on lfg, that’s the logical thing to do. Your groups will fill up, trust me.

I main my necro too, just open your own groups. People who don’t want to play with necros will avoid the group and everyone else will join. And in all honesty, those people who will join you aren’t any worse.
Yeah, the necro needs buffs (a start would be making all those buffs he can give himself group-wide, giving him a cleave weapon and overall better support, as already said), but well played he is still not useless, just not as useful as other classes. Also, necros are better in fractals than in dungeons imo.
…ouch?
As for the armor… Don’t really like the chestpiece and the legs. :/ The dyes look nice and it goes well together though imo.
Not sure if this qualifies for the thread, but I was bored after an arah p4 run…
“would u like some?”
lol.
A comfortable doze in arah p4.
I don’t know what I’m looking at. Is your leg up in the air?
I miss the feel The Deep and Urgoz Warren had in GW1. I was just thinking how neat it would be to have a dungeon that puts a constant debuff on you until you down the boss of the section. I would be especially excited to see a dungeon like this that specifically murders the META groups that just copy and paste everything they see online to farm this game of any fun for casual player or players that don’t want to be limited to 3 classes just to shave off 2 minutes a run.
This doesn’t sound like someone extremely bitter about people who they don’t even play with and wants to offer a terrible suggestion to punish them for no logical reason.
Not at all.
I am a player that likes a little punishment with my dungeon runs. They made the dungeons in this game so mind numbingly easy that the only way for people to apparently make it fun for themselves is to exclude other to save a measly 2-5 minutes a run. Everyone can do CoF in their sleep. AC is the same way. Fractals has even made it to that point where all you have to do is stack and mash on most of it (not to be mistaken for all of it). Not one person can deny this.
EDIT: Typo
Most of it? Not really imo. Don’t know of any boss you stack with pugs in fractals, except the golems in aetherblade retreat.
Also, hell, even if you couldn’t lure enemies around corners, a guard would run in first, pull them together with binding blades and then it would be pretty much the exact same thing.
If you think using LoS to pull enemies around corners, start your own “no stacking/LoS-pulling” groups, then you can play without having to stand in any of those stupid corners.
AC and CoF are easy dungeons in comparison. Yet, there are still a lot of people who struggle with any dungeon, simply because they’re not used to them, the game or whatever. You on the other hand probably are.
Wouldn’t any fractal difficulty between 41 and 49 (including those) be much more interesting due to the instability?
I never ran 50 because I can’t be kitten d to craft a (light) ascended armor, so I can’t tell how much harder enemies hit/survive/etc. on 50 than they do on a 40-49.
Other than that it does sound interesting.
There is also the “easy” method with one person staying outside, but that’s boring as hell. Not sure if it’s an exploit since you give up one person to fight inside, but even if it isn’t, it’s extremely lame.
Imagine pugging CoF path 1. You’re coming up to the part with the fiery balls. Mesmer drops portal, starts to run, blinks to the end, somehow messes up the keys and manages to drop the exit portal right underneath the last fiery ball instead of behind them. Of course, the party doesn’t realise the mistake until they have all ported straight into those balls. Fail.
Now imagine the mesmer is you …
runs off to hide someplace nobody will ever find
I once fell victim to this.
I’ll like to have a hard mode like guild wars 1. One wipe means the end of the dungeon. The only way to survive is reviving other players. Make it so that everyone that wants to do the hard mode has to pay a fee to enter so they know to bring the right builds or willing to change it mid way through.
This I think would bring the feeling of entering underworld or fissure of woe to guild wars 2. Sometimes having some tension in dungeons will be fun. I did fractals for this, but having another hard(er) mode in the game will be great.
You never got kicked out of a dungeon in Hard Mode after one wipe, only if your party had 60% DP. You got kicked out of elite areas though in case of a full wipe.
Also, no fee please.
You’re a gentleman and a scholar, thanks for this.
+1
I planned doing something like this during the next few days, but you saved me a lot of time. Would have never looked as fancy either
My favourite thing to see when I’m pugging arah :*
I think I might be masochistic..
Remember, Arah is PHYW extreme.
The second screenshot is nice. Did you really give her the aqua breather as headpiece though?
Scholar Runes can be crafted with level 400 in the tailor discipline. 1 charged lodestone, 1 bolt of gossamer, 1 elaborate totem. If you craft everything on your own (including upgrading two cores to a lodestone) you can save some money this way.
Arah pugs are horrible today. Had pugs for p2 which managed to get up to 7 stacks empowered on him every time…
Man how is that even possible?
I don’t know. I even told them to stay ranged for p1 so that the grubs can at least be killed off after telling them multiple times how to dodge them, but they didn’t feel like.
Lupi seemed to be kinda kittened today too, getting a 6-stack-punch in your face because he turned invisible after a shadowstep is not cool at all.
@maha: Ended up doing that, but with that amount of stacks mistakes are punished much harder and I’m far from being 100% fluent with soloing Lupi – or almost any boss that is.

I got myself into quite a conundrum this morning: I posted on LFG “p2 melee lupi”, a guildee joined and then we got 3 others. I asked them if they could melee Lupi, and they all responded with an affirmative. We go down the first corridor, and the 3 pugs wipe. They make it a second time, but we had to rez one of them. Belka fight starts, and they wipe again (actually, they may not have all wiped, as I was distracted @ this point). We go to the spider room, and my guildee being a really good thief, puts down shadow refuge and smoke screen and all that jazz for stealth. Somehow, they manage to walk out of it and die. We get to abomination while they try, and fail, the run multiple times. We duo the abomination to open the wp. Get to Lupi. They all die with the first AoE, and my guildee and I duo it. They wipe multiple times on the following skip (Rotten Armada waypoint, not the Lupi one), and we get to alphard. They fall multiple times, and the guard doesn’t use WoR, Sanctuary, SotA, or anything like that. My guildee blocks all the projectiles and we win. They can’t make the following skip, and we duo Brie and end the path.
I realize that I was wrong in expecting a little more from a pug, and not putting “experienced” in the lfg, or any other things like that.
My conundrum is this: If you’re in a party, and they’re NOT contributing to anything, i.e. lying dead while you solo/duo everything, is it “right” to kick them? I didn’t realize how worthless they were at first, and by then we were halfway done with the path, but I wanted to kick them all and sell the path w/ my guildee. Would it have been ok to do so?
Imo it would’ve been okay if you kicked them after Lupi, seeing that they contributed nothing to the party and simply were deadweight. Kicking them at Alphard or even Brie would’ve been… well, not the nicest thing imo but if you can live with that.

1) Ascalonian Healer – Doesn’t exist in Fractals.
2) Ice Imp – Neither do those
3) Young Barracuda – Are spawns from the Krait in Aquatic Ruins
4) Bone Fiend – Are spawns from the Archdiviner in Cliffside
5) Inquest Assassin – Are part of the Aetherblade Retreat Bossfight
6) Murellow – Can randomly spawn in the Molten Facility in one of the five caves
I play those nearly entirely in the way they are intended to notice anything wrong (I even never play Seer path at all).
What does this even mean?
Pugging, no skip except for trash mob, no exploit.
But your experience would maybe be valuable for this topic, especially in Arah. You’re welcome to contribute!
Randall himself is a bug. He constantly gets and breaks aggro, running at enemies, then going back, while doing so running at them again etc.
Also, Arah NPCs only exist to make your day worse imo.
I just killed Kaeyi for the first time ever… Did not know that Tazza just spawns a new add. lol
Red.
/15redchars
It drops from Tazza. A pug once got it.
Droprates are extremely low though. In all my dungeon runs (A LOT) I got only one recipe, Ashes of the Effigy.
By now I’d say you’re better off just buying a ascended amulet/accessory/ring with the stats you want.
I’d actually go with p1 or p2. Yeah, warrior is the easiest class to survive it, so you may want to pick that one.
Yeah, guessed as much. Energy sigils are ready since I almost do everything with Nec.
In groups my main problem actually was staying alive during his Necrid Barrage, but I guess the swarms will make me kite like a man in p1.
Anyway, once I’ll try it I will post progress.
Soloing Arah p2 with Nec. I thought about doing this since Nec is my main, but I assume it will be quite hard to kill Lupi in comparison with other classes. Is a berserker build viable there (I have energy sigils on offhand weapons), especially seeing that the swarms will most likely annoy in p1 or should I roll a condition build? Also, which utilties would be useful?
//I thought of something along the lines of Consume Conditions, BiP, Well of Power (for vigor), signet of the locust and plague or lich form for the utilities.
Berserker is probably a bit easier but condi is faster. You can have some difficulty with condi due to lack of lifeforce for aoe in phase 2 and lifesteal cleansing your conditions in phase 3. See vids below.
Sweet, I’ll take a look at them later. Thank you.
B-b-but she uses a rifle.
That doesn’t make it any better.
Sorry I just hate the starfish hair. Lol
Wait, there are other people who dislike the starfish hair? I thought I was the only one.
Less dependency on NPCs? Either remove the hellspawn they call NPC completely or let them be bystanders which don’t attack anything and don’t get target.
In total, I want a lot to be changed. Starting with the SE3 clowncar, going over to HotW to buggy Arah-bosses etc. They’d never give Necro anything which would make him more useful in terms of group support.
AC Path 2 Detha : “Ohh you guys are trying to fill the trap without aggro’ing him, how about I bring him to you. What are you doing guys ? trying to get out of combat, I’ll bring him to you”
Every single tactics to defeat that boss start by letting Detha die, or killing him on purpose.
Varra in Arah p1: “Oh you want to leave those Risen alone? Too bad, I brought every single Risen in Arah with me.”
Randall in p4: “LEEROOOOOY J…” Breaks aggro “LEEEROOO…” Breaks aggro “LEEROOOOY JEN…” *Breaks aggro". And if he doesn’t do that, he tanks Lupi.
To this day I don’t understand why amulets and accessories can’t be gained by playing fractals, since they were made for them.
That would make guild missions and laurels obsolete.
No it would not, since you simply have another way to get them. Also, you still get loot + money + merits for the guild from the missions.
Furthermore, you could also say they made rings in fractals obsolete when they added rings for laurels.

I have 13 Lv80 characters, all have ascended rings with stats I want. Yet, I still have every kind of ring you can get infused on my bank. Also, you don’t need ascended gear if you don’t run fractals. Exotic is good enough.
5s bonus as an end reward is a joke, especially for high level fractals. If the rings would give more money at the vendors, 50s or even 1g, that’d be fine.-Stares-
Ascended Stats > Exotic Stats
I don’t understand why you don’t want that 5s… It’s like selling Junk at merchant. Junk takes up way more space than that 1 ring, and rings sells for much more.
On top of that, you end up AT the merchant the moment you get that “forsaken” ring…Anet would never replace rings with something more valuable, nor would they increase other drops because of removal of rings. So treat it as a bonus.
While they are better (and trinkets offer better stat increases than armor and weapon) it’s still nothing you really need, exotic is sufficient enough.
Also, your comparison is lacking imo. Trashloot drops while doing everything, the rings are a reward for finishing something that usually takes a hour AND gives you less gold than AC, even on the highest difficulty (Not sure if 50 gives 1g50) while having some of the more difficult encounters in the game.
It’s not about “not wanting” the 5s, it’s just a slap in the face on higher levels. “Here, you got your crappy 20th apothecary ring for a 49 run, it’s not even infused but whatever”. To this day I don’t understand why amulets and accessories can’t be gained by playing fractals, since they were made for them.
Ok, guys, some people have already mentioned a bit, you complain that you get rings with no use, but rather you get nothing instead of just SELLING THEM!?!?!?! What kind of logic is that? Just sell them. I would be happy to have such a kittenload of rings, since I think Fractals is too long and boring (stopped after I ran it about 20-30 times) and have to buy all those rings with Laurels.
BTW: you don’t need ‘just two’ or maybe ‘4 if you do WvW’. I have 7 alts and play them more or less equaly…

10AR for level 10.
Afterwards, you need 15 more AR every 10 levels.
Get the trinkets done first, infuse them and craft the ascended materials you need for your weapons every day. You can get up to 55 AR just with trinkets and weapons, which is enough to run everything up to 49.
Why not replace ring drops in high levels with accessories?
Yes please.
Edit: if your comments are getting you kicked from multiple parties it’s very likely you and not them.
This. Pretty much the only reason why I kick people, next to them not wanting to listen etc.
Time for a quiz.
Who can tell me which attack this is?
Ray of Judgement.
Oh wait, wrong game.
I want the Mace for my collection. >:
Congrats on the axe!
“I will post screens later.” – Except in case I forget about it, which I did.
Ignoring the colors (and probably everything else except chest and pants) those are the four possibilities which could, maybe, work out (and me having unlocked those, even if unlocking skins wouldn’t be much of a problem…)
Craft- (2nd) and Heritage (4th) don’t look too good imo, Karma is okay (3rd) and Stately (1st) looks best out of those imo.
Any other ideas/input?
Recent story.
Posted an LFG with the usual line (thanks for whoever brought it up):
“solve it before enter: 2+3x2,lvl80,path X”
Dude comes in, say “hahh its easy, 10” and gets the kick ofc. Thats what happened after.ps: Now i know how djinns can feel. Man these bans are getting longer and longer …
But he’s the greatest Guardian, he’s always right! lawl.
Losing your progress is an important part of the fractal experience.
Made me laugh more than it should.
@OP: If it’s that much of a problem, make screenshots at the beginning. As annoying as it is, if it happens often it may help you. Or, as I said, open fractals on your own exclusively. I always do that too, doesn’t matter who I’m running with.
