I read this thread and laughed a lot. At the same time, some people should read what they write and try to comprehend it before they press the “reply” button.

Especially you. You’re “joining gear ping groups just to block them”? What kind of person are you that you get that kittened off over people who want to have fun THEIR WAY in an online game? Why do you give a kitten that people want to go through dungeons in a certain way? Your way of playing and their way of playing clashes, so avoid them, it’s super easy. If you think you’re doing “justice” here with going around, kittening off people, then you’re so very, very wrong. What YOU are is being toxic, trying to waste thir time and annoying them. There is nothing wrong with someone not wanting, say, necromancers (And I’m a necromancer main and one of those filthy zerkers) as long as they state it in their lfg. Why? Because as it’s standing, necromancers bring nothing useful to the table and that is important to everyone who cares about efficiency. You do not, so that’s fine. Others however do, so let them do their thing.
Whenever I played my necromancer, I never had any issues with lfgs, I joined groups that were appropriate and if there wasn’t one, I created my own. Got pugs in, generally no one complained.
Oh and before you accuse me of excluding players; I let anyone join my groups and I explain things thoroughly to people if necessary. People who get kicked either fail to communicate if necessary (i.e. listening to strategies, not listening to simple, kindly asked things…), are kittens, genuinely exploiting or something else along those lines. Never have I kicked someone because of their class/gear/inexperience alone.

Anyway, some of you should calm down and remember that this is an online game where everyone can have in a way they want, but naturally different persons get their fun in different ways, so get together with those who have fun the same way you do while just ignoring those who aren’t “compatible” with your way of having fun. It’s that easy. Really.

Question open to everyone: how do you stand pugging for long periods of time?

I got an Amazing friend who loves to do dungeons. Sadly we don’t have a full five man team for doing them anymore. Oddly i find it easier to low man arah then I do most of the lower level dungeons. When this friend is on, I try to bite my tongue and do them because she enjoys them, pugs or no. Otherwise, I don’t think I could keep going anymore with it anymore.

Pretty simple, in order to pug for long periods of time you need to lose your sanity first. Once that’s done, you can go on.

If anyone’s interested, there’s a river of tears currently flooding the revenant subforum, with engis and eles crying because revs got weapon swap and everyone, from guards (lol) to necros complaining they’re broken and better than any other class combined. I can direct you to the juiciest threads.

I just hear that Revenant got all the good stuff Necros asked for, which makes me pretty sad. Tfw they ignore both your favorite class and your favorite type of content.

On that note, yesterday I opened an LFG for “50, No underwater Mossman. No carry. No free ride”. The group was filled almost instantly. Under suspicion of some quick-fingered merge, I asked if any of the new comers actually read the LFG and what it was about. A guy answered me with: “Shut the f—- up, b—— and get on to it (the wisp)”. Without saying a thing, my friend and I entered our emergency protocol and abandoned the instance at once. The rude guy didn’t forget to chase after his victim (see pic below), only to meet with total annihilation. Body was burnt and ash scattered. So long.

Oh man, that name seems familiar.. It’s on my blocklist for some reason too.. He probbly got kicked from one of my team’s and Q_Q’d.

Technically, you can start doing Fractals at level 2, but you probably shouldn’t.

A good rule of thumb is to have gear equal to your level and of at least rare quality before you hop into the fractal portal. This includes trinkets and weapons (although these you can get away with masterwork quality if you know your class well)

Once you are familiar with all the dungeon paths and mechanics in fractals you can probably get away with saying something like “this is my second account” to avoid the assumption that people think you are a complete noob.

Also don’t forget about Agony, you won’t be able to do any fractals >10 without agony resistance.

I’ve done a few dungeon runs, some successful and some not. I’ve heard a fair number of complaints, mostly on the forums, and it would be easy to say that “everybody thinks the dungeons are too hard.”

I don’t think that’s accurate. I think there are hundreds of thousands of players who are quite happily playing the dungeons as they are. And because they’re happy, they don’t feel the need to come the forums and mention it. They’re too busy having fun. The reason the majority of the posts about dungeons are complaints, is because people who are unhappy are more likely to complain about it.

The dungeons are great the way they are. You should never be assured that you will clear a dungeon when you set foot inside it. It should always be a challenge. If there’s no risk of failure, then there’s no joy in success.

Don’t bow to the pressure, Anet. The dungeons are great.

But they are to hard. We need a full healer class. I hear rumors that this Rev class could be awesome at healing. And then they won’t be so hard anymore.

So, what does staff 3 + 5 do?

On a side note, the frequency of kicks stems from the fact that you’re not 80 (and if you’re new, probably have low AP, which is a factor for many people, for some reason…) and fractals are, ultimately Lv80 content. People tend to not like taking people with them if they’re below the minimum level/80, because time is money, even though right now the sub-80 would probably be equal because of certain bugs.

Also, it’s nice to see that you’re staying friendly and asking for advice despite the bad experience you made, often people come here and get all salty at us.

Well, to be fair, you have simple numbers and you have ingame application.
You can play a meta build, but if you play like a little kitten, kitten up all rotations (or don’t even have rotations) then your dps drops into nowhere and someone who pulls proper rotations and whatnot out-damages you, regardless of class. That is most likely what he meant.

Well, let’s put it this way: Shiro better be a freaking awesomely, game-breakingly, orgasmingly op son of a kitten to even get close.
The condi damage is awful compared to rangers, warrs, engis and necros, not sure about the others; the support is abysmal, with lots of focus on pointless heals and little to no proactive defense; its very own personal defense is TERRIBLE, with huge casting time, clunky animations and 1 stunbreak on a gm minor trait.

Just done some dungeons and JESUS CHRIST it’s worse than engi. My hands are aching. I had to kittening SPAM utilities like a kitten. kittening ventari. I wanna hang myself.

I’m taking back the thing on personal defense because staff 3 is amazing. It’s a 2s block and it can work wonders.

Since ANET can’t prevent people from selling FoTM last boss via LFG because of numerous valid reasons, this is a request to the community to take action for healthy Pugging.

There are multiple instances where several folks kick a person out of the group and promptly sell it for 15-20g. It is stupid to buy into FoTM as the reward is not a guarantee but, the real problem is that there is no way to prevent a team from kicking someone and selling for profit.

When anyone sees an advertisement to sell last boss of FoTM, please join this group and keep abandoning them till they give up and try to recruit a proper team member to complete the instance or 4 man it themselves.

Today I joined a fotm 50 pug. The group already had 2 wars and 2 ele, being the third ele, I thought “Sure, why not?”. Then one of the warrior started to nag about one of the party member should relog to guard. So I cheekily told him “But ele is OP!”

My friend and I joined a group and instantly an ele started kittening that i was on mesmer and my friend was on ele bc the comp was teef 3 eles and a mesmer….

Get’s kinda annoying how much people stick to ‘meta’ in pugs, even though all they have to do is learn how to put on focus. This is a bad idea. You going to make thieves riot because of the fact they used to be able to dodge 3-4 times in a row (RIP Feline’s Grace). And no, most classes can’t dodge 3-4 times in a row. The max is 2.

Regardless, dodging ONCE is a very bad idea. Not only does it punish players for not dodging properly, and also it punishes players who dodge when they didn’t mean to. Sometimes, it’s easy to double tap the keyboard keys and dodge when you didn’t mean to.

The current system is fine the way it is. Leave it that way.

Anyway OP, the whole idea isn’t really good as the game is built around having those two dodges. Would need rebalancing everywhere.

back in the CoF days when I was farming it like mad on warrior, I asked this thief who was a friend of this friend that I farm with about how he can kill the gate so fast. He goes on to tell me that he will not share the secret because it is special to him, so during the farm, I kept asking “Do you use mug?”, “Do you use haste”, “gimme some hints” you know all the noob questions. Anyways he then tells me that I am very bad at the game and should uninstall. I then responded “so you think you are pro because you can kill the cof gate in 2seconds.” So then I decided I will play thief because I really wanted to learn how the thief does it. So a few days later I managed to party with him again and said, “I know how to do the thief gate” and he responded “you are bad, go uninstall” anyways never saw him again. Given you don’t want to maximize your stats it’s not really necessary. You can run up to 49 with only accessories, technically 50 too, but that would get really expensive (to the point where you’re better off just crafting armor)
You get 30 AR just by having all ascended accessories and then you need to add a total of 25 AR via infused slots (2x +8, 1x +9 infusions) If you want to run 50, you can just farm everything up to 49 and wait until you get armor/weapons chests, given you don’t want to spend any further money.

TL;DR armor isn’t necessary if you’re running up to 49 and are willing to spend a bit money, for 50 you’d want it though.
