I second Unanimous on his opinion.

In fact, ANet should remove Magic Find as soon as possible, removing all MF gear/item/consumables/mechanics from the game. This is a major concern for many of the players i talk to. Do no think for a moment that only because this topic does not have 1000 replies, players dont think about it.

It is a fail mechanic, a counter productive game design and doesnt bode for the main objective of the game: for players to have fun.

Yeah while you talk to many that do not i like i know many that like it , me included.

When will people learnt they are most likely never on the majority? At most they are on a big group , which does not mean that there are not other big groups that disagree with you for their own reasons.

Think MF is fine , it is the player choice to use it or not. People should stop trying like always to dictate how others should play their games , even more when most posts is about how they dont want to spend money getting a second set.

Suggestion for future "one time only events"

Honestly … im getting more and more pissed at this game. One thing is to make one time events that are worth nothing major and then allow people to get stuff after all day.

ANOTHER is to make an one time event that drops tons of awesome items that tons of player could not go.

Then the so called “exploit” would work the other way around?

me investing in expensive high MF gear and you in your cheap (sorry for the wording) armor getting the same loot, without investing in the MF gear?

Well that would depend on if the other player does not actually got an even more expensive set than yours would it not? MF set is not the most expensive.

This idea is not all bad , one player keep the MF set they like and the other use the normal one , would make the QQers stop for a bit.

Realy, even if i and the other 3 compensate for your lack of damage/survilalibility, therefore having a harder time in the dungeon?

Each player has a right to decide on which gear they want to use in a dungeon. If a party does not like such choice they can always create a party with those rules in mind and kick the person who was aware that it should not be used , but still did.

The real problem is that we cant check what gear the other people are using.

The reward part i agree with, and i think Anet is doing it , like how they increased drops.

But i disagree with balancing , WvW is all about unbalance and im happy how Anet did not try to keep it fair like SPvP , that would not make it have a feeling of a battle.

Largos must be a new race

I’m with this guy, seriously, largos are the worst designed race in the game, they make absolutely no sense culturally, biologically, or any other -ally you can think of. They COULD be really cool, but as they currently are… they don’t even fit in the game world as a sub-race, let alone a playable one.

Ok people must first stop using the biologically argument … this is not your biology class , this is a game , which sets us upon a magical world. Biology got nothing to do with it , the sylvari , are COMPLETELY not something that could EVER make any sense to our biology.

Yet they are implemented and they are a playable race.

The culture argument is just … silly. Really , each of the races in this game got their culture, i dont see how the Largos one , while different is worse to any of the others. But we cant really compare how good a culture is. It is subjective.

Well i think your post needs a big “in my opinion” , cause nothing you said could be said in general.

Well while i admit , i waited to do some champ DEs alone because other people would actually get in my way. (Which happened , and almost made me die because the kitten thing became to hit like a truck and i had to leave till they were all dead)

That was a minor thing , i got almost all the map alone , given i partied when i was low lvl , but all high level zones i got all alone , that includes orr. (with all alone i mean outside parties , people joined me on a few parts … but quite sure i would have made without them anyway)

Largos must be a new race

I like the idea of the Largos becoming a playable race but I am afraid that they will completely lose their mystery then. Every player will have one, and they will all have dark, cliche assassin armor. Sometimes some races are better left alone, even if it looks like a great idea at first glance. Same goes for the Quaggans. Whatever race Anet picks for the future, I hope it will make the world richer. And more than anything, it should make sense. If the Largos are a reclusive race, let them remain that way.

That logic does not apply so much when we think Anet decided to implement the Tengu , a race that lives locked behind the wall mostly.

Now if the tengu are given reason to be implemented and leave their reclusive manner , so could the largos be given reason to take grater part.

Well then , you answered your request on your second post did you not? Maybe Anet noticing would be harder for people to find groups later made this char bound , now if you want to use an alt , you have to begin from level 1 and this will allow player to always find stater groups, even if not so many.

Fact is most people will always be on the middle ground , the top or bottom levels will have problems, the top having much more than the bottom where anyone can join.

Thus to put it simple , i disagree with the idea. Farm on each char , if you want to keep your high level then keep only on one char , still even if only few want to do it on their alts this already will help people on the future.

That is a very subjective post really.

I think heavy and medium armor do not pale when compared to light myself , while i think that Anet went to far into coats for medium , something that i like but many are complaining about.

Honestly im in a guild with almost other 500 members we make spell mistakes all the kitten time and nobody cares.

Sure we sometimes correct ourselves or someone from time to time correct another person , but usually nobody cares , everyone gets it +- right and everyone understands nobody is righting a paper.

There is no need for this really.

Make jump puzzles fun instead of irritating?

Just a FYI for all the people posting hear saying If I don’t like them don’t do them. Or if your to bad at jumping puzzles…

I have done every jumping puzzle in the game, and completed them.

I suggested this because I am the leader of a guild with over 200 members. I know alot of people that do not do the jumping puzzle because they are more irritation then fun. The reward for doing them adds no drive to do them. I would like to see more people doing them. I hope they can come up with some FUN jumping puzzles and maybe some better rewards to get those people into it as well.

You made all the JPs , then i imagine you did it because you thought they were fun?

That is the reason i do them.

And that is the problem with you argument really. You know some people that dislike them , well that is fine , i know some people that like them , like myself.

So , the problem is , not everyone likes the same things. That is all. They are not bad because you know some people that dislike them , it is not possible to make something for 100% of the people to like , there are always people that like and others that do not.

Join a guild that does not do that.

Guild are communities , that means there are many kinds of guild.

Mine got around 500 players (the numbers vary while we deal with inactive and so on) , officers are the ones that usually TS the most , otherwise is usually people that want to do dungeons and so on, and even then many do not join for that.

Simple find a guild that suits you play style.

Listening to the players is a good thing and a bad thing , since we already noticed pretty much anything you feed they eat, still i guess better this than nothing.

About the idea itself , it is not bad , i would love this feature since some one hands are far to big and enter the earth , still , i dont think it would be so simple to implement like you say it is. (At least if we could pick, having one specific weapon do this would be much simpler.)

Two thieves held a group of 20+ off at a supply camp by stealthing. Even when we killed one, another would run from spawn and contest the area. Despite AOE’ing every piece of ground, it still took us a good 10 minutes to take the camp that we had cleared in about 30 seconds. The group was not organized enough to stack on top of each other, but that shouldn’t matter. One player shouldn’t be able to put the brakes on 20+ people. There needs to be a way, be that a skill from a profession, a mechanic change (perhaps you cannot contest a capture point while stealthed), or a new piece of siege that reveals stealthed units around it. This thief problem leads to horrible imbalance in WvW. This requires little teamwork to have a huge effect on the game, and isn’t that fun for the thief, or the 20 players frustrated trying to kill him.

yup like i said , much more useful than nerfing them would be give other classes at one way each to find them.

Ugh so … if there is a human more powerful than others than is a problem? To begin with the power limitation is a gameplay thing not a lore thing.

One human cant hope to ever beat Logan , yet he is just a town guard not a god.

A simple example is how a lvl 80 is a god to a lvl 2. You can say that one NPC is simple stronger now , but if you could progress forever you would reach him. just like a lvl 2 can get to lvl 80.

It is simple not in the gameplay right now.

Nice of you to gather information from other posts and put them here OP. Very well done.

Just to point out, you are using outdated labels in referencing gamers. Gamers play games, farmers farm them, most of the time because of outdated game mechanics. There is no inbetween or any distiction to seperate them. Gamers quit games because they dislike farming and thus the games slowly die, like the GW2 population is currently doing, that or the chat channels are being incredibly quiet and polite in ORR.

The use of the forced labels like hardcore and casual simply make people look foolish and support no arguments in any capacity, just an fyi. Farmers are afraid right now because alot of gamers do not like the current farming mechanics in GW2, but then the devs know this by now and are panicking.

Games built around farmers never last long.

Can you point any MMORPG built for casuals that lasted long? (that cause well , dividing into gamers and farmers just sounded silly … far too silly. Both are players , and if im going to give a tittle of gamer to a kind of player , i would rather give it to the farmer much than giving it to your “gamer”)

I would not say Anet is afraid really , at least from the looks of it this new dungeon will take grind to a whole new level. It is something made specifically to consume a great deal of time from the player. (Again a silly thing is to consider “farmers” care about what your “gamers” in any way they could get afraid , all “farmers” think of “gamers” is that they are a bunch of people who does not want to work the get anything)

That said , i do think Anet should give casuals things to do while they play the game that would not make them feel left out just because they cant grind for great amounts of time. The grind should be look related , or so said Anet.

Well i saw on the post the dev made to counter the rage they unleashed, that they would apply ways to get ascension gear many ways.

Pretty much this is what im waiting to see. There is also the promise about how we would all be able to get max stats gear without an horrible grind. Im also waiting on this.

I thought of saying how stupid would be people using farm animals to fight dragons.

Then i remembered rangers already got pigs.

Even then i would go for epic animals over boring farm ones.

For dungeons i agree that using MF is wrong unless the whole group agrees , or does not care about it. On PUGs for an example party members should be using not MF gear , even if their best set is full greens.

But really open world got nothing to do it , and using MF is perfectly fine.

Well , in theory from what was said at the game launch (before this new patch which actually puts everything into question actually.) , dungeons were meant to be the hardcore PvE experience , they are not easy to casuals cause they were not meant to be done easily by casuals without any understanding of how they work or group play.

Still , Anet is adding an entire new dungeon that comes with an entire new system for the hardcore , i think modding the old dungeons to fit a more casual approach might not be so bad now.

Exactly how should they feel? You seem to sound like it actually affects your status in real life? The way you put it was actually quite disturbing.

Actually i dont see how that sound about anything real life related, still wondering how you made the jump.

Players in general feel bad they are inferior to other mate , because humans feel bad when they are inferiors to others. (they can also get mad and in denial , which will happen : “You only won cause you had you X gear!”)

Personally , i dont care as long as Anet add many ways to get the gear. I dont want to be forced to do the dungeon to get the max stats gear. And im not the kind of player who will let others get better stats gear than what i have either. Which means i would quit over this matter without a doubt.

They nerfing plinx will make player search and find the next event chain that gives best rewards and go there.

Only way to really spread people is the equal few chains. That would make people split into all of them.

But while 1 chain , dont matter which is it , is better , people will find it and people will farm it.

I think this is very subjective, and I think they will continue to add features across all aspects of the game to cater to the different audiences. Ascended gear is just one part of a very large set of updates.

They are still staying true to the world storytelling aspect of GW2 with both the Mad King and Lost Shore patches. There are full blown stories coming out with these patches. I do see your concerns, but am not quite a part of the sky is falling group. I guess time will tell.

Honestly , im waiting to check out on the update to be 100% sure of how it works.

But if they begin gear grind like WoW or they lock the max stats gear to dungeon only, to me that is it.

Story is fine , lore is fine … but so it was in SW:TOR … now it is free to play.

1 ,2 and 6 make sense and i agree with.

3 is ridiculous in my opinion , the regular legendary we got now already asks for WvW stuff , why should WvW get one pure for them while PvE player had to do WvW to get theirs? Just no.

4 also ridiculous in my opinion , there should be a cost for the lesser transportation you make in WvW , PvE player spend on WP , WvW on repairs and so on.

5 this would need to be VERY BALANCED but possible , makes sense players dont need to farm cursed shore at all to begin with. Be it WvW or PvE players.

I think you are over estimating the crowd that exsists that wants to see your 10 year old design today.

I don’t have proof, but I would bet that GW2’s population is currently bigger then GW1’s population and GW1’s population would be but a mere shadow of its former self with just enough people still playing to support a very small community.

Like i said , the population is smaller , but i dont agree it is just as small as you think it is either. And really , most “big title” MMOs out today are WoW copies with some small mods here and there. So really , i dont see the problem at all with my “old” concept.

Like i said , if there is one game to do different it got no competition to gather player from that mindset , going to WoW mindset means competition with tons of other MMOs that do the same.

Also yes , i can also bet GW2 population will grow far over GW1 , but that is because games today are much more played than they were in the past, a simple number of players count wont prove nothing in this case.

This is a ridiculous exaggeration, since plenty of people play underleveled or in blues/greens and don’t face any of the problems you describe.

If we’re accusing people of having “WoW” mindsets, then this is also an aspect of WoW mentality – the notion that you need the “best” gear or noone will like you and noone will play with you.

The stat differences in this game are simply too small to make most people care about stuff like that. Only the snobbiest of the snobs would even bother to notice what gear you’re using.

While i agree that it is ridiculous to think a new tier gear will make anyone faceroll others on WvW , i will have to disagree that it is passable to players not be able to without much grind get the top stats gear , and always with many paths to do so.

Why? This is what this game based upon , without it … well it goes from a unique MMO to just another WoW wanna be.

Still , it is soon to bash at Anet. After the gear is implemented and we get to know how it is actually working we can make the judgment call.

Holding on to this GW1 mentaility will kill this game with todays genre of gamers.

Im betting on the opposite.

If this game go out of its way to match what all others offer , it will simple have to compete with them on their kind of player base.

I say their kind , because end game being based on skin or power progression is not something you can match. You either do one or the other.

That means , they need to pick if they want to compete if pretty much every other MMO out there for players , or call a smaller number of players for sure , but players that came since they added a different system and from which many will leave once they change to the same other MMOs offer.

Mastered crafting professions always usable

I don’t agree on mastering more than 2 professions on a single charcater to be honest. Everybody can have all the crafting on a single character making it less unique.

People to begin with can simple toss 2 crafts on every char , that includes lvl 2 alts they just made , for no loss. So less unique? not really , there is this easy system to master all 8 with 0 cost to change.
